What are some causes of morning lower back pain?

I have an intense pain in my lower back just about every morning. It seems to lessen after I poop and then fades throughout the day. What could be causing this?

1. i bet it's your mattress. it probably is too soft. i have a "firm" mattress, with a pillow top. the pillow top is soft enough to make the firm mattress worthless, and by back hurts every morning. when you poop you may lean forward a bit, stretching your back muscles. that helps relieve the pain, and the pain subsides as the day goes by.

2. Back pain that is relieved by a bowel movement can be an early sign of colon cancer. You need to see your doctor right away to get your stool checked for blood and possibly a colonoscopy. I don't want to scare you, but better safe than sorry.
