Advice on Fibromyalgia & Cymbalta & Natural Help.?

I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The Doctor wants to put me on Cymbalta. Has anyone been on it and tell me what side effect you've had? Is there any natural way to help Fibromyalgia instead of medication?

Public Comments

1. I found the cymbalta gave me horrible hot flashes which increased my pain, especially in my legs. Some people love it though. Now is not a bad time to try it in the winter.

Maybe the link can help you. People rate it as 1 for horrible and 5 for excellent. Try to scroll down and look for people who took it for fibromyalgia.

2. I am on Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia, it affects everyone differently, it don't help with my pain, you may feel tired for a while till you get use to it, I was and/or you may loose weight or gain it.

There are people out there who only use the natural way, so that would be up to you.

Good Luck and know you are not alone in this fight with Fibromyalgia.

3. there have been a lot of reports of weight gaiin

the sad thing is that most people are falsely diagnosed with fms-

it is a very real disorder--but the problem is that most docsa re incompetant and label any ache or pain as fms

but it is not just any pain--it is a specific neuro condition..

teh best advice i can give you is to resaerch and confirm teh diagnosis on your own--you can't trust teh docs

4. Make sure you do have fibromyalgia:

Then read on the site about the drugs

5. My Mom is taking cymbalta and has gained a lot of weight on it.
I was researching for her and found this site which has some natural ways to treat Fibromyalgia symptoms.

It is important to keep active to prevent the joints from getting worse, do mild yoga, mild weight lifting, stretching. There are some supplements that you can buy without any prescription that will help also. Melatonin and Omega 3 Fish Oil are a couple of them that work for a lot of people.

There are lots more recommendations on the site.

6. I was also prescribed that along with Lyrica. Lyrica helped a good deal but I stopped taking Cymbalta. It caused to be be completely unable to have an orgasm (not a side effect I will accept). Lyrica did help, though the first week or so I had somnolence (an uncontrollable urge to sleep).

Exercise, eat very healthy, and know your limits. Exercise should be moderate. If you are having a bad day, stop. Dont push yourself.
