Ongoing discomfort, pain on lower back on right side, what is this a symptom of?

While preparing for an annual physical, I consumed almost a half gallon of water in three hours. I had the extreme urge to urinate, with pain that I have never experienced from my lower back on the right side. Nevertheless, I didn't make it to the physical with a full bladder. However, ever since each time i have the slightest urge...I have sharp pains in the lower part of my back on the right side. Other times, I have a dull ache in the area. Is this the beginning symptom to a health condition?

1. Looks like there are stones in the right side of your kidney!

2. it can be several things,an ultrasound scan of your abdomen would reveal the problem.
maybe you have gallbladder stones, maybe kidney stones/crystals?
what was the result of your physical?
any crystals in the urine (oxalate?)

3. Your pain may be related to your right kidney. You really need to see your doctor so that he can order labs and imaging studies to find out what is going on.
