fibromyalgia?

I have just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I am too young for the medicine. I am on another type of medicine but it is not helping much. What would help me deal with this better?

1. Exercise regularly. Amazing how many studies have shown this to help. Also consider talking with a psychologist.

2. Please see the webpages for more details on Fibromyalgia.

3. Fibromyalgia is a bogus diagnosis. I was diagnosed with that 17 yrs ago and left to suffer in pain. I finally found out I have Lyme Disease. Same thing happened with my friend and also one of her neighbors and then a man her husband knows. We all test positive for Lyme. Since beginning treatment for Lyme the so called fibro is not a problem nor is the arthritis or asthma.

Getting the appropriate testing for Lyme is not that easy so if you want to learn more go to Lyme message boards where you will find many knowledgable people.

4. Fibromyalgia IS NOT a "bogus diagnosis." I've been living with it for six years. There are times when it can be unbearable and other times when it almost seems to go away. No one knows why the pain comes and goes like that, but most doctors today know that we are suffering from real pain. There is an organization called CFIDS that has support groups in most areas. I would really suggest that you go to one and meet other people like yourself and see what they have to offer.

5. Have they done a blood test to rule out any other possibilities? My son is 17 and was diagnosed this last year. I managed this mess at the age of 16 and my niece at the age of 12. So, it's something that only gets worse as time goes on.
Exercise, walking alot and staying mobile is the best advice. You can and should see your doctor again for something else for the pain. My son takes 2 Aleves and 4 Formula 303 natural muscle relaxants (from the chiropractor) and goes for chiropractic visits frequently along with a massage once or twice month and keeps stress at a minimum.
Sorry, try yoga and stretching of the muscles, we all do that as a family.

6. A friend of ours at church has fibromyalgia. She has been taking a natural product called Reliv for a few months, and is doing a lot better. If you would me to pass on more information, you can email me at worknman73@yahoo.com
