How to prevent back pain on an airplane?
My mums very worried as were going to England soon and she is worried because she gets back pain near the middle of her back, also along the spine. Is there a way to prevent it happening i don't want her not to look forward to our trip. Longest time on the plane is 9 hours.

1. Long flights can be tough on the body. Does your mom use a back support that she uses for long term sitting ? This will help her to have better posture while in the seated position.

2. i get lots of back pain too.. especially when i'm flying.
unfortunately there is no way to really prevent it, but what I do to help me sit for extended hours is purchase the disposable heat pads. they stay heated for up to 8 hours (so you might want to buy 4 pieces... usually it's 2 pieces per box... one box for each flight) you can buy them at your local pharmacy. they shouldn't be hard to find as they are really popular. just ask for the disposable ones so that you won't require a microwave to heat it up.. it takes up to 30 minutes to heat up as well.
also, she CAN get up to walk around once it's safe to do so, and just make sure she does that.
another thing my doctor recommended was that as i am seated, i should rotate my ankles (do circles with your ankles) 5 times in each direction every half hour.
all of the above doesn't really PREVENT any of my backpain, but it definitely decreases it and helps me sit for longer hours comfortably!
3. there is a special exercise in magazine in plane pocket it helps a l ot and every hour when the seatr belts off walk for few minutes and stetch also take an aspirine if you are not allergic to it 325mg before you fly .
