plagued by BAD headaches, joint pain, neck pain, hands and feet pain, no motivation, intense fatigue?
Some one dear (my older sister whom I have not seen in over 8 years that lives miles away) to me has been suffering form the following symptoms and the Drs she seen has done lots of tests and none point to any diagnosis: the bad headaches, neck pain shoulder pain, back pain, arm pain, hand pain, leg pain, knees pain, no energy, feet pain, ankle pain, no motavation, hip pain, and fatigue seem to be getting worse. She also has seasonal allergies but I doubt that is a link to any of the other symptoms.
ANYONE have these problems and have a answer for us?
Shes seen a neurologist, shes had numerous tests done, shes not depressed (besides the fact that shes sad we cant see each other)she has the most beautiful family in the world(3 kids and a most suportive husband). The headaches seem to plague her more than anything else I have noticed-yet the neurologist has not found anything to link it to, not even with the other symptoms.

1. She could be suffering from depression, which can affect you mentally (no motivation, no energy, fatigue) and physically (back pain/headaches from stress, etc.) I'd look into this. Also has she seen a neurologist? I've had similar and it all led back to an undiagnosed sleep disorder.
2. You are kind and considerate to want to help your suffering sister!
There are many potential causes for the types of symptoms affecting your sister. Here are a few common ones that medical doctors usually do not 'think about':
1) Food allergies
2) Heavy metal toxicities (lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.)
3) Intestinal Dysbiosis (an imbalance in the types of bacteria that normally live in the gut)
4) Leaky Gut Syndrome (Intestinal Hyperpermeability) - this allows absorption of partially digested nutrients that can induce the immune/inflammatory system and/or active the nervous system
5) Chronic Infections:
a) Lyme Disease
b) "Hidden" Bone infections from dental
work - crowns, root canals, dental extractions, etc.
c) Periodontal Disease.
6) Vitamin/mineral deficiencies (more common than you may think!)
I can recommend an excellent book by Sherry Rogers, M.D. called: "Pain Free in 6 Weeks". She thoroughly explains these and many other potential causes of 'untreatable' chronic pain. The book should be available at Amazon.com.
Best wishes and good luck.

4. FIBROMYALGIA. I've had it for 8 years. The prescription drug Lyrica is what has worked best for me. It helps with the pain and the fatigue. Prescription drug Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxer and helps with the symptoms. I only take it at night because it makes me sleepy. It has to be Cyclobenzaprine and not some other muscle relaxer. Prescription anti-depressants also help. I take Celexa. The way anti-depressants work on your nervous system makes them beneficial for chronic pain conditions.
Supplements: MSM 1,000 - 2,000 mg daily helps with joint pain. Grape Seed Extract 400 - 800 mg daily also helps with joint pain. CoEnzyme A - 1 or 2 capsules a day helps with fatigue and just helps you feel better all over. It is a little pricey, but it's a great supplement. I get my supplements from Vitacost.com, I have found they are the least expensive and have good quality vitamins.
I had to 'diagnose' myself with Fibromyalgia and then tell my doctor that's what I had. I also had to specifically ask for Lyrica. My doc already had me on the Celexa and Cyclo for my pain before I figured out I had Fibromyalgia. There are no lab tests, blood tests, x-rays, etc. that can diagnose Fibro.
I'm being treated by my General Practitioner. Some people may go to a Rheumatologist.
