Any good treatment ideas for fibromyalgia?

I was wanting to know if there was anyone who could tell me what treatments there are for fibromyalgia. If you could name specific medicines it would be helpful. I also suffer from chronic fatigue and its ruining me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. my mom has fibromyalgia

2. There are a lot of vitamin therapies out there that can help balance you out and assist you in order to get the right amount and kind of sleep you need.

As far as prescriptions go... I know that Lunesta helps me to get true sleep and it dulls my pain the next day when I take it. Ultracet does help for the pain a little, but it has given me a lot of fogginess and dizziness in the head (more so!).

My brother in law has RA and most likely some sort of fibro and he cannot function without Cymbalta.

3. I have had fibro for over 5 years now and the best treatment I have found is massage therapy. It relaxes the muscles and provides temporary relief of the pain and it helps with the horrible headaches. I have tried prescriptions and ultimately nothing really worked and the side effects were horrible. Now all I take is antidepressants and some Robaxacet and Gravol as needed which also help me fall asleep. Good Luck!

4. Fibromylagia is believed to be a disorder of teh central nervous system.

there is NO inflammation--therefor NSAIDS and steroids are generally ineffective....

vitamins may help releive some secondary problems which will in turn help FMS--but does not act directly on FMS--

the most promising treatments are neuro in nature--

such as Lyrica and Cymbalta--Tramadol is also a pain medicine that works on teh neuro system.....

be careful with seatives--they are good for short term occassional use--i almost died because my doc pushed sedatives and didn't properlly wean me--
even Ambiem and Lunesta lose their effectiveness eventually...
