My Dr. is putting me on Cymbalta?
has anyone been on it? I have heard good and bad and I am worried about it. I have pain and am depressed and have Fibromyalgia. Has it helped anyone?
I have been on several drugs...I have cervical implants in my neck from a cadaver and I have pain 24/ I have been to UVA as well as many other specialists and have had pain for 6 yrs. Don't tell me all Dr.s are Gods and know it all, because I know better. Wake up, I am in the medical field also, they push untested drugs on people that kill them also. I just want real people to tell me their experiences, know it all A**le.
I have checked and it will cost me $64. for a three month supply through the mail. I am willing to pay that if it works.

1. You are asking a bunch of strangers of yahoo to second-guess the diagnosis of a highly education health professional, who spent countless years becoming an expert at what he does and who must have arrived at his diagnosis only after careful assessment of your situation. Amazing.
2. I have been taking it for a little over a month and I really like it. I can tell a big difference in my mood. I took Paxil for many years and the Cymbalta is much much better to me.
3. I to have Fibro and I have tried a variety of things. Cymbalta being one and I could tell no difference but I sure saw the weight I packed on. The best thing I have found to help with pain is neurontin. The best thing about it is if the dose is not high enough you can always raise it and it is really cheap. I would ask about that. I hope this helps you.
4. i have not taken it personally but my aunt takes it and she to has fibromyalgia and she has never felt better. she really likes it and she has even lost some weight with it. i have fibromyailgia as well and i take effexor and that has been helping me a lot. i always have anxiety when i start new meds but give it a chance and you might like it. you will always hear good and bad things about whatever drug you take because each person reacts differently to each drug. so i would say give it at least a month and see how you feel then that is just my rule of thumb. hope that this helps
5. You can try and search for forums about it on the web, there's a couple of them. And whenever I'm worried about medication/prescribed drugs, I always ask a couple of different pharmacist...and sees if they all agree.
6. I do not have fibromyalgia but it works good for depression.
don't worry about Liz, she is an idiot. she probably believes every word a so called "expert" tells her and doesn't know the difference in asking someone for a diagnosis from asking them their personal experience with the medication.
7. I was on effexor, and from what I was told it has an almost identical chemical make-up as Cymbalta. It was the most effective drug I have tried for my depression/anxiety, but it still didn't work as well as an anti-depressant is supposed to in order for it to be worth staying on.
really horrible coming off of effexor though.
8. I don't know or pretend to know about hurting. And the way you go threw pain is terrible and I feel sorry about that.
I have my own problems and yes, my doc after many, many medications he started me on cymbalta. I thought they were great at first and then I started having little mood changes and then before I knew it I was ready to take my life. I don't mean just think about how I'd do it.
I mean really do it. And I didn't want to or care about it enough to explain to someone how I felt!!
At least you have the guts to maybe get some help. SO GOOD LUCK!!!!
9. as of this answer, i know three women personally who are on cymbalta. all 3 of them have reported extremely fast and effective results on this drug in terms of depression/anxiety. one girlfriend's entire life has dramatically changed for the better in a matter of 2 weeks on this drug. it has worked wonders for my 3 friends. best of luck. don't be afraid to try it.
10. I have depression. And have been on Wellbutrin and Cymbalta for almost a year now after trying different drugs
with my psychiatrist. It has worked well for me. Talk to your
doctor about your symptoms. It my be a matter of finding the
right drug or combination of drugs. Let your doctor know if
a drug does not work for you.
