Waking up with stabbing pain in lower right side of back?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and sometimes I wake up at night with a stabbing pain in the lower right side of my back...once I lay back down and go to sleep, I can wake up again and it's gone...any ideas what this is due to? Anyone else have this problem?

1. could be your baby lays in a bad spot while you sleep or your sleeping wrong

2. It's your sciatic nerve. It will do this off and on throughout your pregnancy. Doing some back stretches, like the yoga cat pose and dog pose will help a lot. It's normal. And sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs, that also helps. =-)

3. I had this exact same problem. It could be that your baby is pressing on an area in your back and causing it to hurt. However, with mine, I had a kidney infection. If it continues or gets worse, I would go to the dr. and have them test for a uriniary track infection/kidney infection. I had to get on an antiobiotic for mine. Pregnant women are more prone to these.
