I have fibromyalgia and nothing is working?
I have fibromyalgia, asthma and polycystic kidney disease (genetic illness, tons of non cancerous cysts in both my kidneys) I have to be careful what i take cuz of my kidneys. I have taken every med I can take for the fibro and it either makes me very sick or very tired. I am sensitive to alot of meds. The only thing I had was 800 mg.'s of ibuprofen, took away the pain but it makes me sleepy as heck. I am wondering if this is dangerous and if anyone with fibro what meds works best for them? The last med I tried was the cymbalta at 20 mg.s and it made he highly sick.

1. My mom takes lyrica.. I've been telling her to do water based physical therapy, but she loves the couch too much..
What sucks is fibromyalgia is nearly indistinguishable from being a couch potato.. And sometimes fibromyalgia can cause pain that occurs from just that.. and identical
So what I've learned is the best thing to do is fight the pain and stay active enough that you don't have TWO symptoms piled on top of each other... There is little known about fibromyalgia and for all physicians know, it could be many things (much like autism can be many things)
2. I have it too. Chronic fatigue( very, very tired and getting unrestful sleep) falls hand in hand with Fibro Stick with the IBU for a while longer if you can, Your body will get used to it unless it is hurting you kidneys.I took the Lyrica and put on 30 lbs in 4 weeks so I dropped it. Sunshine helps a lot. Just sitting on the porch steps. Stay out of any draft, The med student is right about water arobics we HAVE to keep our muscles from freezing up because even tho we don't feel like moving around(at ALL) we have to or the pain gets even worse and we wind up in a weird cycle we can't even get out of.Invest in a hot tub or at least go over to a little motel nearby and beg them to let you use theirs. I go to the Holiday inn(SHHHH) they have been really nice about it,and I try not to take advantage. In a emergency you can climb in your tub and soak.We do tend to be couch potatoes. I absolutely cannot work and was able to get Social security. E-mail me if you like and we can compare notes...My fibro is also compounded by Raynauds :( that sucks, too.
3. My mom has fibro Myalgia.
I remember she used to cry.I think thats how she got hooked on pain killers. The student said his mom loves the couch. It is warm on the couch. You need to be warm.Get an electric Blanket.Soak in a tub of warm water. If you use ibruphoine on time( like one every 3 hours) you can keep the pain from getting ahead of you. You can't get all of it but maybe you can get some of the pain down so you can do other stuff and at least have a life!
Sorry you hurt :(
