Does anyone with fibromyalgia have any experience to report with Lyrica?

I have FMS and my doctor has been trying to get me to go on Lyrica. I have been extremely hesitant due to other reports I have heard in regards to the side effects experienced with this drug. I just want to know if anyone has any experience taking this drug, has it helped you, and what (if any) side effects have you experienced and how severe were they. Also, if you have been on other treatment that has been helpful, I would love to know about that too as I am getting really frustrated with the inability of anyone to help me with my pain.

1. Yep, awful. Swelled up like a toad, felt like crap ... and got no pain relief at all. All in all a loser of a drug for me. --Dorothy

2. I am elated to reported that, alone, I have tapered off all usage of Lyrica & at one time the MD had me on 300 milligrams a day to help with extreme fibro with accompanying neuropathy.

Initially, I started the Lyrica, aware of the side effects, due to the desperation of the fibro & myalgic encephalmylitis [chronic fatigue syndrome] & neuropathic pain. I want to die & the sooner the better.

Isn't it ironic that a century ago, we'd be out of pain with over the counter preparations, but with this alleged "age of technology," our only rational resort is to find a merciful Dr. Kervorkian, who by the way, "delivered" one patient diagnosed with just our disease!

The medication I find helpful & restores me significantly to a productive life is narcotic, but the DEA has all the docs so freaked out about the risk of loss of their medical license that I must apparently suffer due to "the war on drugs."

By the way, I am not a drug abuser, simply an unfortunate person who got a virus during her prime earning years & suffers 24/7 forever--or at least, until self-deliverance.

4. I have been taking this new medicine and I do not see to much improvement. I have also been very tired on this medicine. I am going to Dr. Thursday to see what he has to say about this.

My daughter has just been told she has this and she saw an immediate reduction in her pain. So I guess everyone is different.

5. I affects everyone differently. I know someone who loves it and it has taken away most of her pain. Me on the otherhand, it made me sooooo tired I couldn't function. The doctor even lowered me to the lowest dose and all I could do is lay around and dose off all day.

Again everyone is different, you could always try it at the lowest dosage and see what it does.
