Has anyone tried Lyrica for Fibromyalgia? If so, what were your results?

I've recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and the rheumatologist has prescribed Lyrica. So far, I'm not having a lot of luck with it. I'm just wondering if I should hang in there, up the dosage, or let it go and try something else.

Public Comments

1. I just started taking it 2 weeks ago. So far so good. It is helping the pain and no side effects. I am still on a low dose and will be discussing an increase with my Doctor in a few more weeks.

2. I have Fibromyalgia too. I was prescribed Lyrica two months ago and had no luck with it either. From what I heard, it either works for you or it doesn't.

3. I have had fibro for over 12 yrs. I take Guaifenesin for my fibro. You have to learn how to take the med properly for it to work on fibro. Here is a book you need to get either from a library or you could get it at ebay or amazon cheaper than a bookstore.

I was diagnosed with Fibro in 1997. I take Guaifenesin for my fibro. I have not had to take prescription pain meds in over 5 yrs. This med has helped me tremendously.

Here is a website for more info and for an online support group for those who take guaifenesin...

It is not a cure and it is not a pain
med but it has allowed me to stop taking prescription pain meds. I used to take them constantly. Check it out.

Why would anyone put a thumbs down on this? This has worked for many many people.

4. I've had fibromyalgia since 2000. The last two years the pain and fatigue have been very bad. Since I was one of the people chosen for the TV commercial and ads for Lyrica, I felt I should try it. Lyrica has given me enough energy to be able to resume doing some of the things I love, like bicycling. It has done nothing for my pain, however. For the pain, I continue to take Vicodin.
