Has anyone tried the drug Lyrica for Fibromyalgia?
I am interested in finding out if any one here has experience with the drug Lyrica for Fibromyalgia. It's a drug that is intended to reduce nerve pain. I would also be interested in any experiences with any other related drugs too in the same family (nerve pain). Thanks.
I am currently on a narcotic and do not wish to continue with it. I am looking for an alternative.

1. Lyica is used mainly for diabetic nueropathy and fibromylagia treatments.
It has a 50/50 success rate also one significant side effect is weight gain. I gained almost 50lbs in 4 months on this drug, my father-in-law also gained over 50lbs in the same amount of time. I would advise researching all alternatives before starting this drug. I have tried several drugs for nerve pain and for the most part have gotten significant relief from narcotics such as Oxycontin, Methadone, and currently Opana. Opana so far has been the best for relief without severe side effects. if you haven't yet get referred to a pain control clinic as they have a many different ways to help you work with your pain control without loosing quality of life at the same time.
2. I have been on Lyrica for 6 months. I take it for nerve damage in my legs caused from blood clots. The medicine is expensive ($200/month). I gained 10 lbs while on the medication and the doctor said that I would just have to deal with the gain because I needed the pain relief. The pain relief is worth the cost. When I stop taking the medication I will lose the extra weight because it is just accumulation of water.
Narcotics didn’t help my pain. I now take Tizanidine 4mg 5/day and Lyrica Cv 100 mg 3/day. This helps the nerve pain and I can walk some now. I am feeling much better pain wise.
