Could a muscle strain be causing knee pain?

Is it possible for a strain in one of the muscles (probably the quad) to be causing knee pain? If so which muscle is more likely to result in an aching pain around the lower part of the knee?

1. that's what i have, unfortunately i don't remember the name of it but just remember RICE and take some asprin and you'll feel better in no time!
