Can I use Cymbalta and Zoloft together?
I have Fibromyalgia and was using Cymbalta for my pain management and it was working really well. I started experiancing depression after 3 weeks of being on the meds and shakieness. I want to know if I can take Zoloft with the Cymbalta. I have been off the Cymbalta for 2 days and my Fibromyalgia is out of control. I started on the Zoloft and my mood has gotten much better but I really need help with the pain.

1. As your primary care giver! he/she is the only one who has the knowledge of your medical history and condition to give you the proper answer!
2. No you cannot use the two together or you could develop a potentially life threatening 'serotonin syndrome'.
Do not take or mix meds without your doctors guidance. Speak with him about your concerns and perhaps you could find an alternative pain med or alternative depression med.
Best wishes to you.
3. yes you can but you need to call your doc to have them prescribe the correct dosage with the other AD.
4. Ya, don't listen to us. Go to your Dr. We would suggest taking them both with a fifth of vodka.
5. antidepressants are combined all the time-I woudl think it is possible as long as you use low doses of each...
I would think you would have the same chance of getting serotonn syndrom if you took the MAX dose of 1 or the minimum dose of 2.....
a doctor or pharmacist can advise you what is safe.
Zoloft is a SSRI
while Cymbalta is a SNRI
6. you will undoubtably get an answer form HEALTH CRACKER-that is all he is--a cracker
Don't pay attention to the thumbs down-they are from teh FIBROFRUIT guy who doesn'tr know about REAL Fibromyalgia and is only tryign to sell his product and essentially steal your money-
THAT IS MY ADVICE.
7. Both Cymbalta and Zoloft work on Serotonin (they attempt to increase it) I would suggest not to take both at the same time. Your doctor however may put you on both... and its not very unusual to do that. But you have to be very very careful as you can get serotonin syndrome which can be life threatening.
Also, you said you were three weeks into cymbalta when you experienced depression. May be the depression was due to Cymbalta and is common when you start taking any such drug. Did you wait for another 3 weeks to see if it goes away? Normally it should. It would help to know your age and the dose of Zoloft and Cymbalta you are taking. Zoloft will not help you with the pain.
Please do not stat taking Cymbalta and Zoloft together, or any other change without first talking to a doctor. It is very very important.
8. If u cant get in touch with the Dr who prescribed both of these meds, call the pharmacist. They are very helpful and can tell u of any interactions.
Feel better.=)
