1. B12 deficiency is extremely rare. Unless you are a strict vegan who eats no animal products, or you have a problem absorbing B12. People with problems absorbing B12 have problems producing intrinsic factor, or have disease of the small intestine.
Normal body stores last about 3-6 years of deficiency.
B12 deficiency causes megaloblastic anemia, and neurological dysfunction, as it disrupts DNA synthesis. The anemia looks like large red and white blood cells that are immature. This would also have shown up on the blood test too, if you had it.
If it worries you, I would eat more animal products (like milk, meat, cheese, yoghurt, fish) to boost your B12. You can also get a test called the Schilling test to test your absorption of B12
2. yes, there are some similarities between the 2, also for RSDS (CRPS) - the disease that Paula Abdul has. you should get bloodwork done to confirm your problems are not related to Vitamin B deficiency. if your doctor prescribes Lyrica, be careful of the weight gain - it can happen very quickly!
3. I've also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I'm not lacking in B group vitamins, so I doubt that taking it would be of any benefit to your condition, but speak to your doctor and ask if there is any reason why you shouldn't. It may be beneficial in helping your overall health, which in turn could help with pain management. I'd be interested to know if you have had a sleep test, as sleep apnea can result in fibromyalgia. It's a complicated condition, so try and find out as much as you can through your doctor, other health professionals and some very good sites on the internet. Best of luck. Hope everything goes well, cos it's not the funnest thing in the world.
4. If you are diagnosed with fibromyalgia by your doctor, then that really is. If he again told you about the lowb12 thing then you also have to find ways to restore your health. Both conditions are bad and you really have to make sure that they will no further get worse by taking the right treatments. Good health habits is always the right and basic routine for such conditions.

5. many doctor are WRONG!
most don't know how to diagnose FMS--many use it as a label for any pain'fatigue--even when due to lifestyle......
Yes, teh symptoms are similar--some people claim they have cured FMS with B12--when it reality they probably never had FMS--they only had a vitamin defiency..
it is also possible to have both conditions
