Gout and drinking alcohol?

When a friend of mine drinks alcohol over a certain amount, no matter whether or not he gets buzzed or drunk, he gets a pounding headache and his joints start hurting really badly, everything from wrist to elbow to knee, shoulder, ankle, etc etc.

Someone told him it might be gout, anyone else have any idea what could cause such symptoms? He normally does not have joint pain otherwise.

1. Dehydration

2. What you describe is not gout.
