Can an impending earthquake trigger migraine headaches in some people?
My wife always has a migraine 24-48 hours prior to an earthquake. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

1. Wow, I just researched it and your wife is not alone! People all over the world get headaches just before an earthquake!

Perhaps it is related to air pressure or the tension she feels just before. Does it go away after it stops? Does she only get headaches on their occurrence?
I wonder if there is some effect just before an earthquake since they happen so suddenly and instantly. They can measure seismic activity before an earthquake. I wonder if she can feel the slight tremors before and this subconsciously gives her deep tension?
Here is a cool earthquake monitoring site:

2. I think it's all in her head to be honest. No pun intended.
3. Well, i have never had migraines, and neither has my family nor friends family. i live in southern california, and we havent had an earthquake in a while, but ive never seen anything that causes that. maybe its like her senses or she has a sensitive nerve structure in the head??? idk
4. It is possible I guess if before the earthquake there were changes in air pressure, I know I get migranes before a major storm will hit.
5. more or less, YES,.. why? cause it stimulates the nerves in your brain,.. or maybe, it's just stress result of your worrying...
6. Im just speculating here, but i studied the physics and effects of earthquakes for my PhD. There may be a better medical explanation and i'm sure you will get other answers. But, it could be possible that the earthquake could slight change the elevation of your location, hence bringing on a new altitude, and the sudden change of altitude results in a headache. Sort of how like some people get bad headaches when they are in a plane and when it reaches the air. Sudden change of altitutde effects some people.
Hope that helps =]
7. I'd believe this is possible...
The pressures and electromagnetic field could mess with us carbon based lifeforms! LOL.
8. I tend to get them before a storm hits so I assume it's possible.
9. YES! Without a doubt. On Wed. my head started hurting. That evening I asked somebody about the fault line in the midwest - because I had this nagging feeling that an earthquake was about to happen. The feeling intensified last night, along with my headache. The first thing I heard on the news this morning was the earthquake in Missouri/Illinois. My headache is gone now. No, I don't think it is a coincidence because it has happened to me before.
