The back of my head hurts, like I have been hit in the head, not headache. mostly when lay on head?

If I in bed on my back or on the couch, the back of my head hurts, but it is not like a headache What can cause this

1. You will note considerable tenderness at the base of the skull when applying any pressure there..This is where the muscles attach to the skull. When they are under an unequal tension (one side against the other) you will get s bit of torsion of the skull itself. Enough to feel sensitive to the touch. That area at the base of the skull is also in an inflamed state and has an accompanying edema or tissue swelling. Allowing greater tenderness.

All of this situation indicates there is a postural discrepancy involved and is now or will show in signs further down your back.. such as one shoulder being higher than the other. You may also note a slight tilting of the head. Depending on your age would determine how soon these other findings would become evident.

You may want to consider visiting a doctor of Chiropractic and have an evaluation of the condition.. then have the corrective measures taken.
