throbbing headache on the back right side of my head?

my head is throbbing but only in one small spot on he back of my head. Its fine when I lay down but when I get up it throbs and hurts really bad in that one spot. The rest of my head aches a little but the one spot on the back of my head hurts soooo bad. What could this be?

1. usually the ones toward the front are fine depending where, but this is the back, call and ask a nurse.

2. I've had this happen many times and usually lasts a few days. There would be an awkward dull ache all over my head, but if I stood up it would throb really hard on the upper-back-right corner of my head. Painkillers never worked, but it would eventually go away. Squeezing my skull between my hands provided temporary relief.

A few times I gave up and I went to my chiropractor and he adjusted my neck and the headaches magically went away within an hour and stayed away until the next episode a month or two later.

He explained that my neck was out of alignment and pointed out I held my head slightly tilted which helps relieve the blood pressure, which I noticed on my following headaches was also true. It is most likely caused by sleeping in weird positions. He said the crooked vertebrae pinches a blood vessel restricting blood to the brain and when blood pressure rises (e.g. from standing up or stress) blood squirts into your head and causes that throbbing pain.

Since learning this, I have found I can cure some of my headaches by doing some gentle and slow neck stretches like this: http://www.take5moment.com/cgi/members.mpl?Action=View&id=49&media_type=video

(Take extreme caution and be careful when stretching your neck because you can easily mess yourself up even more.)

If you have any reason to believe it could be something more serious than this, you really should consult a doctor.
