Fall down the stairs, headache, vomiting, big bump at the back of the head?

My friend fell back when coming up the stairs. She landed with her bottom on the bottom step and hit her head on the floor.

She immediately got a big bump at the back of her head. She has headache and was sick once.

What shall we do, the doctors in here are useless as ou will need to wait up to 6 hours before they attend you in ER section.
She is sleeping now.
She is alert and does not show any signs of poor coordination or speech problems.

Will call the NHS Direct and see what they say.

1. Head Injury ! No Contest ! She MUST see a Dr. "HEAD INJURY" !

2. You should still see a doctor, she could have a severe concussion or even have some brain swelling. Waiting in line for a false alarm is better than further injury from leaving it. :)

3. sounds like concussion, you should really get her checked out although if you really don 't want to go to the er, you can keep a close eye on her, let her sleep it off, keep her hydrated, and just check on her every couple of hours - if she gets any more groggy or won't wake up properly you have to get her to the hospital. if your in the uk i would call nhs direct on 0845 46 47 they will help you

4. Headache and vomiting after a bump in the head may mean a concussion. Please take your friend to the doctor ASAP and please don't call the doctors useless. You need their help, don't you?

5. Well, with a head trauma it might not take so long . It goes ever faster if she throws up in the waiting room. No matter the wait, you need to go right now. It's better to be sitting in the ER if anything happens to her. Is she still alert and speaking? Is she having trouble focusing? Is she still feeling sick to her stomach?
Go now, or call an ambulance. That way, she might be seen sooner, at the very least she will be assessed in the ambulance as to her immediate trouble.

6. she probably had a mild concussion but u need to wake her up every few hours and make sure she is alert and knows what day it is and who the president is and what her birthday is, is she cant name these questions or if she seem disorientated take her to the er or call an ambulance as she could be experiencing something far worse. also apply ice to the bump in the back of her head to prevent a blood clot...
