How do you get rid of a migrane headache?

I have this major migrane headache, and no matter what I do, I just can't get rid of it. Does any one know a way to get rid of it without using pills? Or not, any other way?

1. I know you said you don't want to use pills but Excedrin Migraine really does work.

2. Could it be you're dehydrated?

If your pee isn't clear & odorless I'd say start drinking some water.

Most pills for headaches thin out your blood because that's usually what creates headaches (thicker blood flowing through veins). Water is an alternative/preventative measure to that.

3. You don't, you just hope it doesn't kill you!! Ok, kidding, well, maybe not really. I suffer extremely from migranes and its made me blackout sometimes. I haven't had one in a long time now(3-4months)but they are brutal. They say relaxing activities can help, yoga, meditation and especially accupunture. Also a little caffine doesn't hurt. But I'm not sure if they ever go away, I just developed them one year and have had to monitor caffine and stress and loud noise for long periods of time

4. Good suggestion by the other guy on checking your pee. If it is not relativley colorless and odorless (strong odor of amonia) then you need water.

Common quick fix is either a small amount of sugar and caffene ... caffene dialates the vessels and is what makes excedrine what it is. also, an antihistamine can work wonders.

Try caffene as a quick fix with asprin or something ... providing you can take such.

5. drink alot of water slowly but consistently through the day, avoid any tree nuts, dairy products, take a warm bath, put compress on head and try and go to sleep. headaches can be causes by hormones, and diet. hope you feel better and i congratulate you on toughning this out without taking pills. headaches are horrible and painful!

6. I have never tried this but feverfew is an herb that is supposed to work well. If you don't take medications very often herbs can work very well. (someone who has a certain level of resistance to meds because they use them alot usually can't feel the gently properties of herbs) I usually take ibuprofen because most of mine come from tight muscles in my neck. So ibuprofen help in reducing swelling. Mine can also be triggered by my sinuses. So I try to avoid dairy and other mucus builders, and I sometime take acidopholis (I think I spelt it right.) That is a good bacteria that the body needs and it helps to fight off things like candida which is a good bacteria that can run amuck if it is allowed to flourish in the body. My best thing is to start finding out why you are getting them and go from there. I always take a nap too and I found that that is one of the best things I can do. The rest helps me to calm down and redirect all my energy to fixing the problem. Other than that the only thing I can tell yo to do that requires ingesting nothing is to get a massage. That can help with almost any trigger except barometric pressure. Good Luck
