Do you Think that this A real Disease , or just Made up so people can get pain Medication from Doctors?
The primary symptoms of fibromyalgia include widespread musculoskeletal pain, severe fatigue, and disturbed sleep. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons – the soft fibrous tissues in the body. Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they were pulled or overworked. Sometimes fibromyalgia symptoms include muscle twitches and burning sensations.
Currently there are no laboratory tests available for diagnosing fibromyalgia. Doctors must rely on patient histories, self-reported symptoms, a physical examination and an accurate manual tender point examination. It is estimated that it takes an average of five years for an FM patient to get an accurate diagnosis. Many doctors are still not adequately informed or educated about FM. Laboratory tests often prove negative
To receive a diagnosis of FM, the patient must meet the following diagnostic criteria:

1. It is real - know someone who has it and suffers terribly. Just because a disease is hard to diagnose or treat doesn't make it bullsh**. Sorry to sound bitchy, but your question basically accuses sufferers of fibromyalgia of being nothing but junkies looking for a fix. Not cool.
2. Somebody in my family claims to have fibromyalgia, but like you, I'm not convinced that there is such a thing. I don't know, but I'm a little inclined to label it as "A Medical Excuse".
I'm sure I'll catch some serious flak for my response. But still, nobody can prove that it is real.
3. The best indications are that it's a real condition - at least, the pain is real. It might not be a distinct condition but - like arthritis - a common effect of several different causes. As far as I know, no causative agent has been identified.
4. The pain is real, and so is people abusing pain meds. Most people that takes pain medication needs it to kill the pain i would think..
5. It is real, but there are people out there who are hypochrondriacts (sp) who may say they have this because it is so general and it is the only thing they can point all their "issues" to
6. It is real. I know several people who suffer excruciating pain from it. Many sufferers do not actually get any relief with pain medication as the pain is too static and cannot be pinpointed accurately to be treated.
You would know that it was real if you watched my friend cry because she is too scared to pick up and hold her own grandchildren. She can get spasms of pain in her shoulders and arms and is scared she will drop them and they will get hurt. The only way she can hold her grandchildren is if she sits on a couch with her husband and someone else on either side of her, and they support the weight of the children and hold her arms around them.
There are much easier ways to get pain meds, if you were going to be dishonest in order to get them.
7. IT IS REAL TALK TO YOU DOCTOR FOR INFO ALSO GO TH THE SIGHT AND LOOK IT UP SO THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE QUESTIONS IT YOU CAN PROVE THEM WRONG
