Have you used a treadmill with knee complications?

I've read that walking on a treadmill is better than walking on the ground outside because the treadmill provides dynamic cushioning (or something like that).

I'm wondering if anyone with knee pains has used a treadmill and how it worked out for you?

I'm not sure on a specific diagnosis at this time, possibly a dislocated kneecap, arthritis, or something else, so I'm just looking for general information on how treadmills and knee problems go together.

Thanks.
