Constant Burning and Pain in the Knee.?

My mum has been suffering from constant and burning Knee Pain on the medial side of her right knee for around 3 months now. This is on the left hand side of the right knee. We have done every test possible (CT, MRI's X-rays etc) and now varicouse veins ultrasound, but doctors and Knee specialists can't seem to find anything wrong, and wipping their hands clean of the situation. But I know there is something wrong. She has had knee problems before due to beggining stages of osteoathritis, but doctors can't put the pain to this cause as it is constant and very painful. Her knee is swollen & tender and the constant, burning and pulling pain started flaring up after 2 days once she had some accupunture done. So not sure if this is related at all. It is difficult to see someone in constant pain all the time even when resting (pain tablets don't seem to work for long) so I am hoping some one/specialists can help. My question is would there be any specialists out there who could give advice as to what steps to take next or who to go and see to try and get some answers and releif? Also I think it could be a nerve pain, but doctors don't seem to look into this, is there anyone out there who can diagnose nerve damage in the knee? Any advice to take further steps and get a diagnosis would be great. Thanks.

1. Ask for a referral to a neurologist. They deal with nerve issues, or ask for her to be sent to a rhuematologist, who specializes in arthritis pain. The symptoms sound like a form of arthritis to me. Good luck to both of you.
