What can I do about my wifes pregnancy headaches?

My wife gets very sudden headaches and she's 4 months pregnant. Besides Tylenol what else can we do about it.

Public Comments

1. Rub her neck and shoulders. Be patient with her. Those pregnancy headaches are brutal. They go away later in pregnancy.

2. give her a massage, run a bath for her, make her feel loved so she forgets it lol

3. Theres really nothing to do except take medicine-ask your doctor she may be able to take IB Profen now since she is in her second trimester. That and lying down are the only things that really can help.

4. Instead of just covering up pregnancy headaches give her a high protein snack to eat and a glass of water. Make sure she always has water at her side. A warm bath tonight will also help with this. This also works well for nausea and morning sickness G

5. Really sudden onset headaches are something her doctor might want to be notified of if they weren't something she was dealing with pre-pregnancy, because it could be a sign that something is up with her blood pressure. They'll want to check that out. Other than that, she needs to make sure she is really well hydrated and eating enough throughout the day as well, to see if that will help cut back on them.

6. My doctor offered me Tylenol with Codeine for pregnancy migraines, but I told him I was not comfortable taking codeine while pregnant. He said that as long as it wasn't regular, and occaisonal Motrin (ibuprofen) was ok. I find that when they're really bad that 2 Motrin and a cup of coffee really take the worst part of the pain away. Obviously any meds or caffeine are not ideal, but to me seem like a safer alternative to stronger pain killers.

You might also consider paying for her to get a prenatal massage - I've heard they are wonderful!

7. there is not much you can do for her.. i suffer from migraines and have for many years, being pregnant makes them so bad.. for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy i had life stopping headaches every day, with a day of relief here and there.. my dr gave me a stronger medication because of how bad they were, once my hormones got more normal they got better. If this is a sudden thing and the headaches are coming on and not wanting to go away she should talk to her dr asap because they can be something else.. but just try to rub her back or neck and help her out a bit so she can rest.. low light and noise and a warm and cold compress on the neck helps..

8. FACT:sex cures headaches.. I dont know howe your wife is but when I was pregnant i wanted sex everyday
