What is safe to take for a sinus headache in pregnancy?
I have had a excruciating headache off and on for the last 3 days. I know it has to do with the nasal passages being swollen from hormones but I am not sure what is safe to take. I am 11 weeks. I have a book from my last pregnancy {2006}, but I don't know if the medicine dos and donts are accurate. I dont have a humidifier, but I do have a kids version of nose spray called Little Noses. I have some Sudafed also, but it doesnt state how much to take in the book. And I dont know if its safe or not! Thanks to any help and congrats to you all!

1. you could try benadryl. I had a pretty bad sinus infection and it helped relieve my symptoms. I know that sudafed is safe to take, and Iwould just take the dosage it says for adults on the box.
When i have a sinus infection, i run a really hot shower and just sit in the bathroom with a washcloth over my eyes. It really helps with headaches! good luck!
2. i have a horrible sinus infection right now and my doctor told me to either take dye-free benadryl or the plain sudafed. she also gave me some samples of astalin (the nose spray) and told me that some over the counter nasal sprays are safe but to ask the pharmacist if they recommend anything. try the sudafed or benadryl and if that doesn't work, then i would try talking to a pharmacist to see what they say.
good luck!!
3. I take the little noses, use a Humidifier, (great thing to buy) and i take tylenol sinus. (rapid release) works fast and i have taken it with all 4 pregnancies. I also use the baby vicks on my chest too. drink lots of water too cause it can help loosen up the stuffiness. good luck and God bless!
4. Regular Sudafed is what my OB recommended for me when I had that problem with my last pregnancy and that was not long ago. You should be able to safely take Sudafed at the regular dosage. Also Tylenol (regular strength) is safe as well. Congrats on making it to 11 weeks!! May you continue with a healthy pregnancy to have a happy, beautiful baby :)
5. I use to to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me --- my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need
distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don't get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes
