What can I take besides acedomeniphine for a sinus headache during pregnancy?

I've had this headache for 5 days now and I'm starting to go a little crazy. I can hardly sleep. I've tried hot and cold compresses - switching every 30 seconds for 10 minutes and it didn't do anything - all 3 times that I tried. I need medication!
correction - acetaminophen
I am 17 weeks along!

1. You can take sudafed but with nothing behind it such as sudafed PE. I asked my dr. and the pharmacist. Its safe I use it occasionally

2. Sudafed will work just fine.

3. that's it really, as far as OTC meds goes. talk to your doctor about something stronger (preferably for hormone response migraines, as that is what it seems you are having).

4. You might have a sinus infection if it is going on 5 days. I had one with my last pregnancy. Call your OB and get them to fill you a prescription for a pregnancy approved antibiotic.

Good Luck!

5. I am pretty sure you can take benadryl and see if that helps!

6. According to my doctor, nothing. You might try something alternative to medicine though, like accupuncture or massage. Check with your doctor first though.
If its allergy related, see what allergy medication is okay. My doctor said Claritin and Benedryl are cool. Maybe those would help.

7. Your doctor might give you something else, but I can't recommend anything, I don't know how far along you are. You can try filling the sink with hot tap water and sit over it with a towel tented over your head. That might relieve some of the pressure. Sometimes sterile saline helps get things moving too.

8. I don't think there is anything else. I good friend of mine is a paramedic and when I had a migraine last week, he would only let me take one 200mg pill.

9. my doc told me i could take anything Tylenol brand except any kind of sleep aid, which means tylenol sinus headache is ok for you unless you have some other problems we are unaware of. You might also look into chiropractic care..make sure you go to someone who knows and it trained in adjusting pregnant women..no meds needed and it always does a world of good for me.

10. Just remember that whatever you are putting into your body has the potential to affect the baby... I've had it suggested to me to try meditaion and visualizations to relieve the pain; I suffered from migraines my entire life! Have you tried having a nice hot tea? Sometimes that gets the sinuses running...

11. My OB (in practice since '73) says Benadryl or Tylenol Sinus is fine. A plain saline nose spray (such as Ocean) may also help; it's just salt water and so you can take it as much as you need to if you have congestion too.

Another thing that seems to make my sinuses worse during pregnancy is wearing contacts. I've been wearing contacts for decades but your eye shape changes ever so slightly during pregnancy and so your vision (with or without contacts or glasses) may be a bit askew, making a low-lying headache a lot worse. If you wear contacts, try switching to glasses for awhile.

Hope this helps and that you get some relief!
