Is it true that coffee and chocolate causes headache?

Okay, let's say I'm a having a mild headcahe now, will drinking coffee or hot chocolate make it worse? Will it also trigger a headache if I don't have it now?

1. No it will actually help your headache. Excedrin and other medicines uses caffeine to combat headaches. But migraines are another story...caffeine will make those worse.

2. Caffeine is put in Excedrin tablets for pain, and it doesn't make the pain worse. Caffeine speeds the relief up by dilating the blood vessels.

3. idk about the chocolate but i know that coffee (caffeine) is addictive. If you drink coffee all the time and you don't one day, it can give you a killer headache so it could actually help a headache.

4. Coffee and chocolate are migraine triggers for some people. For the normal person it doesn't bother a headache. Since you don't have a migraine chocolate or coffee would not do anything to increase the headache or trigger once unless those are triggers for YOU.

5. Both contain Caffeine. I guess they could cause a headache, but never for me. Actually a small amount of caffeine can help cure a headache in some people.

6. I always have migraines multiple times throughout the month. And my sister always scold at me about me eating too much junk and sweets, so I've heard about the chocolate before and they probably do cause headaches. And they also say that caffeine causes headaches also. So if you do a little bit of both, I suggest you replace the chocolates, junk, coffee, and sodas for a while.

Drink plenty of water, put a cold towel to your forehead or eyes, and take a nap. If you're in a hot room go downstairs or to where its cool. Cause usually upstairs is like the hottest floor in any house. Don't strain your eyes, if you're watching tv or if you've been on the computer for a while I suggest you take a break. I've heard that taking walks work, but I suggest you don't try it....just in case you get a little dizzy from the walking. LOL. Have you eaten yet??? Haven't gotten much sleep lately?

I really don't know. I'm not a doctor or nothing, nor am I a college student in the medical field. But I know headaches/migraines are a pain and I go through them all the time. I suggest the water, cold towel, and nap. If not...its time to take out the aspirin.

7. Nope, caffeine helps. If you look at the ingredients of Excedrin (for headaches) you'll see that it includes caffeine.
