What does a sharp (stabbing) knee pain mean?

I am getting a sharp (stabbing) pain on the front left side of my left knee and it hurts really bad. I hurt it originally while carrying 250 lb doors down a flight of stairs and it lasted for a day and could not put any weight on it. It went away for a week and now returned today. What could it be?

1. Oh my god! I think you need a prosthetic leg. I'm almost certain an amputation is required. Contact me and I can have my receptionist set you up with an appointment.

:)

Ok seriously, maybe you sprained it, or it's out of socket slightly. Depending on the severity of the pain maybe you should try some icy/hot or make an appointment with a real doctor.

2. you need to see a doctor

3. Knee sprain or bursitis
