Can you have a sinus headache/infection without having a stuffy nose?
I've had sinus headaches before but this time it is MUCH more severe. My nose isn't even stuffy..more itchy, but the pressure seems worse. It even hurts when I touch the top of my head. Any suggestions? I'm dying.

4. I'm pretty sure you can. I get sinus headaches all the time, but I hardly ever have a stuffy nose. Try taking some pain killers, and sleep it off. That's what I normally do.
Get feeling better!!
5. Yes,
Your paranasal sinuses all open into the paranasal cavity but they may experiences changes in pressure and/or become filled with mucous without the nose being stuffed up. If you believe you have an infection (much more than a headache) you should see your doctor right away.
6. Oh, yeah, you can have a sinus infection without a runny nose. I say it feels like cold air going through (oh, like tubes, can''t think of the word).
Anyway, based on the pain you're experiencing, you probably have a sinus infection and need some antibiotics. Doctor time, sorry.
Is anything swollen? Glands, or spots on your face?
Since it's the weekend, aspirin is all I can think of for now. Maybe a heat pack on the worse spots.
7. Yes you can have a sinus infection without a stuffy nose.
Go to your doctor, he'll give you a medicine and allll will be better. :)
Home remedies to jack sh*t. (usually)
8. Your sinus cavities extend into the head so, yes, it could be. There are medications that can help so see an ENT doctor to help you. It can truly be disabling as I'm sure you're aware.
9. Yes, I believe you can get a sinus headache without having a stuffy nose. It is because all of the pressure is in your sinus area. It may hurt a lot, but you don't always get a stuffy nose. You should go to your doctor, so him/her can prescribe some antibiotics for you.
10. Yes you can I had a headache like that last week and it lasted 5 hours and over the counter meds like advil did not work.I took like 6 of them. I just had to wait it out. Just go to the doctor. You may need some meds that you can not buy over counter. Antibiotics don't start working until like 3 days. So hurry up and go. I had a sinus infection last year and I had never had any sinus problems before. Worst week of my life. I went to the doctor too late and by the time I got the meds I had went thur the pain with no meds. I could not even eat my throat was so sore. Plus my nose was so stuffy.
11. Yes. I just went to the doctor for a sinus infection that was up under my cheek, but left the major opening clear. Youll probably still have clear fluid dreaining, but they DONT always block the air passage. For me, it spread around my eye socket to the forehead around the eyebrow. Suggestion: GO TO THE DOCTOR! they're incredibly painfull and can kill you. Its not far foe the infection to spread to the brain, but antibiotics will cure it quickly.
12. Yes, without a doubt. I get a sinus infection 2-3 times/year and never have a stuffy or runny nose with it. It's actually quite the contrary in my case - dry and itchy. Try scratching that! LOL!
What I have found to help the best is to run a humidifier in the bedroom at night. I take excedrin for the pain and maybe some benadryl to help me sleep if I'm having trouble sleeping. Advil and Tylenol do not work - not even in prescription strength doses. Don't take sudafed as that just dries you up even more. But, truthfully, the humidifier (cool mist, not a hot-mist vaporizer) helps more than anything. Being anywhere that has gas heat makes it worse for me as well because it dries everything out.
