I have a sinus headache and i want to take Ibuprofen but i took Claritin allergy. Can i mix the two?

What happened was, i took Claritin Allergy medication that last 24 hours but i found out that the medication is not working and i do not have allergies. Now i am stuck with not being able to take different medication for my really bad sinus headache...

1. I think it's OK. Call your local pharmacist; they'll tell you.

2. I would get someone to give you a head massage! Massage the face and back of the neck..or do it yourself. You can certainly take 2 paracetamol though...

3. The claritin will make the sinus headache worse by drying out the tissues up there. Inhale warm salt water by the teaspoon ful. This will kill the infection in your sinuses. Rinse with warm plain water. Put a hot cloth on your forehead or cheeks (whichever sinus cavity is bothering you). This will help drain the mucus. Stay away from over the counter meds for allergy and cold symptoms-they dry out your body-not just the sinuses- and cause long term damage. Be careful what you put into your body- meds ALL have side effects and can cause irrepairable damage. Did you know that the leading cause of death in the elderly is kidney failure due to too much medication over a lifetime?

4. I take Claritin on a daily basis and I have never had any side effects from Ibuprofen or Tylenol while taking it.

5. Medication is only a form of symptomatic treatment.

A better way would be to get rid of the thick and jelly-like mucus that has collected in the sinus cavities.

To do this, you just have to performed nasal irrigation regularly and this would certainly solve your sinus headaches.

Hope this helps.
