Why do I wake up with a sinus headache after sleeping with a ceiling fan on?

It happens everytime I have a fan blowing on me, and it's a horrible sinus headache and sometimes drainage. Why does this happen?

Public Comments

1. fans collect dust and having the dust blowing on you all night
that is why

if you need to have the fan on you are going to have to clean the fan at least every week

2. This happens to me too. I now have my fan across the room to circulate the air, but not blow right on me. It can blow dust and other allergens right into your face. Your body builds a histamine reaction to that overnight and by morning you're all congested and your sinuses are clogged. Take a benadryl before bed or other allergy medication. It'll lessen the reaction in the morning. Also try turning your fan down to the lowest setting possible to minimize the exposure and make sure the blades are dusted weekly.
