Do you have a good relief for back pain?
I hurt my back when I was sixteen (three years ago) at my first job (had to lift things, wasn't given any training etc) and instead of getting better it is now far worse. Some mornings it takes me about half an hour to be able to straighten up and when I lean over to do hoovering or leaning over a desk it can bring tears to my eyes when I try to stand up again.
Have you had any miracle cures? I can't go to a doctor as the appointments are hard to get and you have to - eugh, you know. There are nurses for this on a monday afternoon and nurses for that on a wednesday morning and it's very complicated and a total waste of time.

1. TENS machine. You can hire one at boots or buy one. They are brilliant!
2. If you can afford it (mine is £35 a session) go and see a Chiropractor doctors are useless with bad backs. I had a bad back from lifting for the last six months and she has sorted it out in 5 sessions across 4 weeks.
3. I'm a chiropractor, so - have you ever been to a Chiropractor? There are great ones in England. You may have to pay some yourself but at least you'll get a lot for your money,. Also, what do you do for exercises? Won't get better without those. Sounds like you have more than normal problems in your back - time to take care of it.
4. A fortnight course of ibuprofen can reduce inflammation around the nerve, your doctor can prescribe really strong ones.A hot water bottle is good and believe it or not so are support tights.
5. White flower oil .. from chinese medicine shop .. tigerbalm from anywhere and back patches ...
The back patches can be worn direct on skin or some have to applied to clothing and they heat up look for the ones that you apply to skin direct as they are much better
6. First and foremost - go and get it seen to. Why suffer if you don't have to? I've had back problems for years but take a cocktail of painkillers each day to keep the pain at bay. I've had x-rays and everything - wear and tear and the start of spinal arthritis. I bought a memory foam mattress and although it doesn't cure the pain, it certainly brings a lot of relief (i.e. I can stand up straight in the morning after 5 minutes instead of half an hour).
But there is a big age gap - I'm over thirty years older than you. You shouldn't be putting up with this cos you're far to young to let something like this rule your life. So, get to the doc's. Leave your modesty at the door and pick it up on the way out. Good luck (let us know how you get on).
7. Our library had a very good book which helped me no end - it was called The Bad Back Book", I think.
Personally, I'd rather see the Nurse Practitioner at our Surgery than my own G.P. who proved to be a total waste of space when I had a chest infection - he probably feels that women aren't worth treating and his attitude was very dismissive.
I had a high temperature and problems breathing - the nurses sorted me out.
A Sports Injury Clinic is another good idea (apart from the suggested Osteopath or Chiropracter) if you have one in your area.
8. Hi,
I hurt my back in a car wreck several years ago. The pain I feel daily is constant. At first, I took a lot of ibuprofen or other pills to ease the pain. It would help for a while. Soon though, I started having stomach problems. One day a friend asked me to try some Blue-Emu he had for muscle strains. It worked with no smell. After about four days of having my wife rub it in my back, I was a whole lot better. I bought Blue Emu at Walmart. It is worth a try to help the pain stop.
9. There is unlikely to be any miracle cures. Since it comes from an injury a while ago, it will likely take a while with good care and treatment to improve it. Look to see a chiropracter or osteopath. GP's are rarely any use for back injuries. Also you will likely need some good exercises to stretch, and also strengthen areas around your back. The chiropracter or osteopath should be able to give you some specific ones for you. Or look to something such as pilates to help, which involves both stretching and core muscle strength. It may be a pain to deal with now, but you want to be able to use your back for a long time, so look to get some treatment underway soon.
There are deep heat style creams such as tiger balm or Percutane which may help to relieve short term pain.
10. First of all let me say that I know what it is like to suffer from back pain. I have had to learn to live with it for most of my life. Firstly go to your doctor and DEMAND he or she sends you for a xray. But most importantly do not and I mean do not go any where near any chiropractors. They can and will do more damage to your back if your problem is with your spine or discs. There are no quick fixes for back pain. I take painkillers daily (tramacet) and most important is to watch your weight; I am not applying that you are over weight, the case is I was 18 stones I lost for stone and this was a great relief to my back. Also be careful with what exercises you do theses can also lead to further damage of your back. I cannot stress how important it is that you get an xray and get to the source of your back pain. Good luck
