1. Try Superman...
1. Lay down on your stomach, then, simultaneously lift your arms and legs of the ground like your flying. Hold for a couple seconds and repeat
2. Also, try these. I do these because i have a weak back.
Get on the edge of a bed if you don't have a special platform. The edge of the bed should come to about your hips and below your abdomen. Have someone hold your legs as you lift yourself up with only your back. Your hands should be locked behind your head. Make sure you go at least 120 degrees from the floor to as high as you can go. You will feel these in your hamstrings and legs too. Try to do as many as you can. I started doing off 30 tops and now i can do 110 reps in three sets.
Good luck
2. I struggle with lower back pain when working out. I've found that doing sit up crunches with my legs raised (on a ball or wall etc) really helps relieve the pain of doing them normally. Also general stretching on a daily basis ie when you get up and before bedtime. Check things like the mattress, the position you sleep in, general everyday stuff. It can all have an impact.
3. I find getting down on my hands and knees then rocking back and fro helps. Also, swimming in a warm pool - I use a local hydrotherapy pool attached to the physio dept., but some gyms have warm pools. Another good exercise is using one of those big inflatable balls. Sit on one with your legs slightly apart and again rock back and forth. This also helps to straightenyour core. You can also lie over the ball and again rock, this helps to stretch out your back.
Keep moving - the worse thing you can do is to stop and you seize up.
