cymbalta fibromyalgia Knowledge Base

Has anyone taken Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and had it work or not? I need to know personal experiences of anyone that has taken this medication. I will be taking it soon and am a little worried about it. I got a couple of answers the other day but am looking for a few more opinions please.
Has anyone tried Cymbalta for fibromyalgia? I was wondering how well this medication cymbalta on their fibromyalgia.
Has anyone switched from celexa to cymbalta for pain relief of fibromyalgia? I am in the process of switching from 40mgs of celexa to cymbalta. Just wondering if there are any withdrawal symptoms in the process and if cymbalta really helps with fibromyalgia pain. How long does the process take?
has anyone taken cymbalta for fibromyalgia and gotten very sick? my pain doctor gave me that for pain and i was vomiting and thought my whole head would explode! anyone else have this happen?
Which one is better? Lyrica or Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia? I am just looking to reach out to people who may have tried one or both of these medications for pain. Which one deserves a higher rating? I just started on Lyrica and the side effects don't seem to be too bad. My pain has decreased about 25%-35%, which is significant, but I was just curious about Cymbalta too.
Are there any fibromyalgia sufferers out there who are on both cymbalta and lyrica? If so what doses? I take both cymbalta and lyrica and am doing well on this regime, but I'm so sleepy all the time. I'm just wondering if anyone is in the same boat and what dosages you take of these two meds. Do the meds make you sleepy at those doses?
Did you find relieve from Cymbalta and Elavil for fibromyalgia? My fibro got very bad with the birth of my son. I just want opinion on this combo, before I make the big change, coming off my Effexor XR. I really want another child. It is 3 more months before summer. I was thinking of just taking my Effexor and painkillers(lots) and see if it gets better, otherwise I just have to go on chronic meds and have 1 child. Any other painkillers that you find effective? My son was born 9 months ago.
Lyrica and Cymbalta for fibromyalgia? I have been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for about 6 months now. I do not feel any better. My doctor has just put me on Cymbalta to help with it too. Has anyone had any relief taking these meds together? I just don't want to pollute my body for nothing. Also I have hypothyroidism and was thinking that the symptoms I am having are thyroid related. I asked my Doc about being put on Cytomel because while my TSH is normal (it was 243.42), my T-3 is low and always has been, but he said the Cytomel won't help because my pain is from fibromyalgia. Any input on either concern would be great. I take Levothyroxine .3 for my hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's).
what is the danger of combining cymbalta with a sumitriptan? I take Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and my Dr. thinks that I may also suffer from migraines. But he says that there may be a dangerous interaction if I started a sumitriptan. What kind of a reaction? And what else would I be a to take? Thank you to all who answer!
Is it OK to take Cymbalta at night? I am currently taking 30mg of Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. It has been 11 days and it's helping a lot BUT it makes me very drowsy during the day and it's hard to drive and work. I was wondering if anyone takes Cymbalta at night instead of the daytime and does it work just as well? Does anyone know how long these side effects actually last?
Is anyone successfully taking Cymbalta for fibromyalgia pain? Anyone switched from pain meds to this? I've been dealing with chronic pain for a few years. I've taken a lot of narcotic pain relievers during this time, and for the last year I've been taking tramadol for pain. I'm in the process of quitting and starting on Cymbalta with the help of a PM dr and my PCP. I made this decision because of Cymbalta's pain relieving claims. I'd rather take this once a day then be on the pain med roller coaster and feel like I'm being treated as a drug seeker. I'm nervous though. I'm afraid of side affects. Will it keep me up at night? When's the best time to take it? I know I should just bite the bullet and take it to see. I haven't taken tramadol in 2 days and my pain levels pretty high right now.
switching from cymbalta to celexa for fibromyalgia anyone have any experience with this & with celexa 4 fibro? i asked the pharmacist when I picked it up and he says celexa and cymbalta are in the same family and if one showed results the other should show some too but he could not tell if it would be as good or better as celexa has not been studied for fibro, but i should not have any problem just switching over. The cymbalta works great on my fibro pain so I do not want to mess that up but it does tend to make me anti social. I cannot take Lyrica because I have asthma. The insurance company recommended celexa generic and is giving me 4 months free to try it which will save me 120 right off the top from the cymbalta co pay but I would rather pay the money than miss out on what works. Lately though that 120 sounds good and then add that to the deduction in copay monthly. I took the first one this afternoon and will take it for a few days and report back. I also take flexeril and elavil for pain and sleep. Hope this does not make me sleepy - stay tired enough as it is. Thanks
Can I use Cymbalta and Zoloft together? I have Fibromyalgia and was using Cymbalta for my pain management and it was working really well. I started experiancing depression after 3 weeks of being on the meds and shakieness. I want to know if I can take Zoloft with the Cymbalta. I have been off the Cymbalta for 2 days and my Fibromyalgia is out of control. I started on the Zoloft and my mood has gotten much better but I really need help with the pain.
Any good suggestions for anxiety associated with Fibromyalgia? I was on Cymbalta and it really helped. Then I had to go off it when I no longer had health coverage because it is so expensive. Wondering if anyone knows any good herbal or homeopathic remedies.
Is fibromyalgia difficult to diagnose, and are doctors reluctant to do so? I have been experiencing many symptoms of pain since summer 2006 (widespread chronic pain, soft tissue pain, tenderness, fatigue, weakness, achiness, soreness, trouble sleeping, concentration problems, brain fog migraines, and muscle spasms). I already have cerebral palsy on my left side, and epilepsy. A friend with fibromyalgia suggested that I see a doctor because she suspects I also have fibromyalgia. When I did see the doctor, she prescribed me Cymbalta, had my blood taken, and told me it was "non-specific widespread chronic pain". She was reluctant to say anything about fibro because "it could be anything." The blood tests are perfectly fine. The Cymbalta helps somewhat. My friend still feels that it couldn't be anything else. My gut instinct, my intuition, also says it is fibro. But I don't want to seem hypochondriac, especially since I have several other diagnosed disorders. I am just concerned that the doctor will continue to be reluctant to diagnose.
I take 60mg of Cymbalta for fibromaylgia & Mirapex for RLS pain. Can I also take Sam-e? I Have fibromyalgia and restless leg syndrome. Can't find anything that helps for the pain. I take Cymbalta and Mirapex. Can I safely try Sam-e for pain?
Has anyone else been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? I have been recently diagnosed with this very painful condition and am taking three different medications for my pain and nerves. I also do yoga, swim, and some cardio to help strengthen my muscles but it's still hard and the side effects of the Neurontin is scary. I also take Cymbalta and Day Pro. Once a week, I get a B-12 shot because it's low and my doctor thinks it would help restore my body. So, please give me some feedback.
Does anyone have experience with the Rx options with Fibromyalgia? I need to find a comparison on the prescriptions used to treat it like which is best when comparing Lyrica and Cymbalta, etc?
What is the best treatment for Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia? I tried Cymbalta for 2 weeks and the side effects were horrible.
started cymbalta, 2 days later big bumps appear on arms.what is this? Have Fibromyalgia, started cymbalta 2 days ago, itchy bumps appear on arms. What is this
Does anyone have any new breakthrough information for the daily pain of Fibromyalgia? Just started Cymbalta not really seeing much difference so far.
my fibromyalgia seems to be getting worse but I was told it doesn't advance. The pain in my back is horrific I was told fibro doesn't advance but the pain has advanced terribly especially in my back. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica and still have bad flares. I am also exhausted. Another drug?
looking for some Fibromyalgia advice? My mother suffers from fibromyalgia. She has good days and bad. Right now, we are going through some bad days. Severe pain in the lower back, can't walk. Sometimes she can't talk without her throat or jaw hurting. Does anyone have any advice? Maybe doctors in the tri state area they have seen? Or medical advice they have heard or received? She tried fish oils, taken Cymbalta and Lyrica. Anything else out there?
Pain clinic and fibromyalgia? How do they treat Fibromyalgia at a pain clinic if you have already tried Lyrica, Cymbalta, Celebrex, Flexeril, and Tramadol with no releife?
is it dangerous to mix flexeril, cymbalta, lyrica, mobic, hyzaar all together.I take these every nite.? I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and these are some of the drugs I take daily. thanks
I need input from people on Cymbalta. Not for depression but chronic pain.? Pain is of unknown origin. Have been afflicted for more than 15yrs. Severe enough that narcotics barely take the edge off some days. Already go to a chiropractor and massage therapist. Not fibromyalgia. I'm not overweight. Hated Paxil. Is the Cymbalta going to be the same trip?
extended question and info on cymbalta? I do have CFDS and fibromyalgia too....however......I know that this fatigue is from the Cymbalta.........it is definitely not DEPRESSION.......enough with the depression......when someone is dx with cancer or aids they dont say they are depressed .....they say they have cancer....they meaning the doctors............enough already.....need more answers and insight about cymbalta .....I do appreciate your wisdom.......
Fibromyalgia & acupuncture? I have fibromyalgia, am female, 58 and a teacher. I take Cymbalta & Celebrex plus Tylenol and I can function enough to work full time. I normally eat a varied and healthy diet (I almost never eat processed foods - I cook with organic chicken and vegetables - things like that. I would very much like to feel better than just functional. Does anyone know if acupuncture would help?
Lyrica for fibromyalgia. Has anyone tried it? I am currently taking Cymbalta and it gives me some relief but the side effect of heavy sweating is really a nuisance. I am wondering if Lyrica works well. The one side effect that worries me is weight gain, I'm plenty big already! If you are taking Lyrica, please tell me about your experiences. Thanks.
Can anything be done for my fibromyalgia? I have been diagnosed with fibro for almost 3 years, but I have suffered my whole life. I remember that I hurt when I was 4 yrs. old. My symptoms worsened while pregnant and my daughter is almost 3. I have gone to chiropractors and massage therapists. My rheumatologist and pain dr. gave me klonopin, ultram, ultracet, hydrocodone 10/325, soma, effexor, paxil, zoloft, cymbalta, elavil, flexeril, zanax, oxycodone, etc... at different times. Some I had to use together. I had to quit my job and now hurt 24/7. I sleep all the time and cannot to anything on my own. I also try to do pilates every other day. I can't carry my daughter or take her shopping. I can't hug my husband. I snap and yell at everyone. I have been told to stop smoking. I quit, and the condition worsened for at least 6 months. I currently smoke again to try to get my mind off the pain. I've read book after book and tried everything in my power. I feel like I'm dying. If I can't get help I don't know what else I can do. HELP
Ease fibromyalgia pain????!!!!!???? I am already on prescription Celebrex for my fibromyalgia, I have been since I was 20. (I'm nearing 30 now.) I also take Rozerem to try to get a restful sleep, otherwise I am in a vivid dream state all night and never hit deep sleep. Even with the Rozerem when I wake up feeling rested it is a big deal so I get really excited. I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 15. I have been in pain since I was 12 and in 7th grade and constantly fatigued, sometimes with tingling in my hands, feet, and along my spine, what is probably the driest most sensitive skin on earth, always cold (since I had scarlet fever twice when I was 4). The pain is always there, and I barely notice low-grade pain anymore, the fatigue never, ever leaves. So the pain has been bearable the majority of the time since going on Celebrex, but sometimes I'll have a flare up that will hurt so bad I'll just cry and cry but nothing helps it. Usually the flare up only lasts one to four months (at longest). I have bad pain about 25% of the time but don't consider it a flare up until it has brought me to tears a couple of times and/or I have had to stay home because I hurt too bad and was too tired to leave. Right now 13 of the 18 pressure points hurt so bad that if I'm in the shower and the spray of water touches one I almost scream, and by nighttime I am wrapping my arms around my knees crying. The pressure points hurt plus every muscle in my entire body. I can feel the muscles across my temples, my neck, all of them in my upper shoulders, my lower back, each tendon in my hand, my wrists, my arms, my legs...even the arches of my feet and my toes can't stand to be touched. I have tried lightly massaging my feet but it makes me cry to touch it hard enough to feel with my fingers. Even with the Rozerem I can't sleep because I hurt so bad. Sitting, standing, or lying nothing seems to help. I'm dizzy all the time lately and in pain. I have a sinus infection but the pain and feelings of fatigue and general health overall are way more than a sinus infection. This is the worst flare up I've had since March 2005. I can't even think straight because I just hurt. I don't think that people take me seriously at all because I'm not in this much pain all of the time (thank God!) and I can't say exactly what caused it by pointing to a specific even, i.e. I was never in a car wreck, or had cancer, ect. I mean I've been reading about it some, and I know that it isn't in my head, but I don't think that other people understand that. I have a doctor appointment a week from Monday. I'm going to ask him about going on Cymbalta, I read that it is FDA approved to help anxiety (I have PTSD, and I think that PTSD is under the anxiety category) as well as for fibroymyalgia. I don't get to see him though for another week and two days. I have tried four Advil at a time, lots of water, herbal tea, and hot water bottles. I don't know what to do. It won't go away and I have no idea how much longer this flare up will last. Even when I do make it to sleep with the Rozerem I will only get about 6 hours of sleep in at most because I wake up every 45 minutes from the pain in my sleep. I don't know what to do, and I'm starting to cry again. What else can I do until I get to see that doctor? If he can't help what do I do? I'm afraid that people won't believe me but I really am in some God awful pain right now. I know that a lot of people hurt a lot worse, but I do know that I can't take this pain anymore. I feel like I'm going to implode on myself or something. I can't stand it because nothing helps any...lying down, sitting, standing, hot shower or bath, four Advil, hot water bottles, water, herbal tea, touch...nothing helps, it seems to get worse daily. I am a student and don't have a lot of money (that means no acupuncture--I begged my parents for it in HS). I need really, really need something to help though! I rented a yoga for wimps dvd at the library, but I'm hurting so bad that sitting in my tile floor and stretching sounds so painful. I don't know what to do!!! How can I help to ease the pain I'm in right now and how can I make sure that I take control of what happens with the doctor? I'm going to ask him about it because he said that he would put me on a SSRI for the PTSD. I thought that if he did that then I should just ask him to put me on Cymbalta since it does both. I didn't want to go to my family doctor about getting Cymbalta when the next week he gives me an anti-depressant then I have to make them get together before I even get the right medicine. I don't know what to do. I can't take this anymore!!! How do I ease the pain? Money isn't just an issue, at this point it isn't even an option. I'm a year from graduation but until I graduate college I barely, and some months don't, have the money to put gas in my car. I have Medicaid, so I can get medicine, but right now I don't have the money to do anything in the way of alternative medicine. Medicaid just pays for the basics as far as doctors. I think I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow with my regular family doctor, though. Thanks everyone for their advice!
Anyone have anything to say about Cymbalta? I went to my nurse practitioner for an annual physical and she suggested because of my fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease and sleepless nights that I go on Cymbalta. I told her I didn't know how I felt about that because I am genuinely happy. I have a great husband, a wonderful home, a great career as a registered nurse, but she seems to think I am unhappy. I just want to know about common side effects that people have occurred and any other patient education you could provide me from experience. Yes, I have access to great resources at work, but the best are from people that have actually been on this medication. Anything would be great.
Cymbalta for firbormyalgia or chronic pain? I know cymbalta is used for depression, but i was wondering if anyone taking it expereinced a relief from there fibromyalgia symptoms, if so, what kind? any other side effects, thanx!
I have Fibromyalgia and have had cancer 2X. Why do I have joint pain and popping? Since I had breast cancer and melanoma and was on Tamoxifen for 5 years, I have had a lot of discomfort all over with pain. Joint pain and popping. I am on several drugs. Cymbalta, Maxide, Synthyroid, Neurotin, Trazadone, Flexiril, and Vicoden - Way too many drugs. The viocdin is for Fibromyalgia. I get 60/mth. The vicodin does very little for my joint pain. I think I might have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome in my left arm. Is it just old age or what?
continuous release pain medicines for Fibromyalgia? I'm 17 and have had severe chronic pain for 2 years. the doctor's believe i have fibromyalgia. we have tried every non-narcotic pain medicine out there. (e.g. lyrica, cymbalta, amitryptiline, steroids, etc..) and short acting narcotics like vicodin are a trouble because they can only fill small prescriptions and i have to take several a day to cover the whole roughly 15 hours a day i'm awake. tramadol lasts about 8 hours in my system which is good but is too weak even at high doses. My question is will stronger long acting or continuous release medicines like oxycontin, ms contin, or methadone help for chronic pain syndromes. ( if you have tried them for chronic pain please tell me how it worked for you) and the problem is that i my x-rays, MRI's, etc..have come up normal so i have no proof to back up my claims of pain so it makes the doctor very unsure if he will get in trouble for prescribing strong narcotics to me with no proof other than my word. Is there anything I can do to help prove to him how much i hurt without sounding like a drug hunter? (by the way i'm seeing a psychiatrist for this because no other doctor in our area believes me, they all think i'm crazy.)
I have fibromyalgia and nothing is working? I have fibromyalgia, asthma and polycystic kidney disease (genetic illness, tons of non cancerous cysts in both my kidneys) I have to be careful what i take cuz of my kidneys. I have taken every med I can take for the fibro and it either makes me very sick or very tired. I am sensitive to alot of meds. The only thing I had was 800 mg.'s of ibuprofen, took away the pain but it makes me sleepy as heck. I am wondering if this is dangerous and if anyone with fibro what meds works best for them? The last med I tried was the cymbalta at 20 mg.s and it made he highly sick.
What test should a Doctor run to rule out fibromyalgia? I am 22 years old and have been suffering from chronic muscle, joint, and tendon pain since February of 2005. My symptoms are as follows: --shooting pain from my elbows to my figures ( feels like funny bone constantly being rubbed) --tight muscles in my back and neck, puts painful pressure on my spine . --muscles around along my spine are like tough strings, you can actually pluck, and make cracking sounds --sever pain in my wrist and finger joints that causes inconvenience and limitations. can not turn door knobs, open bottles, write long periods of time, drive etc. --wake up frequently through out the night --feel sore and stiff in the mronings, as if just completed an intense work out, or hadn't slept for weeks and can't keep my balance. --Have to rely on high amounts of caffeine to get me through the morning and to get me through my daily schedule of work and school. --extreme exhaustion, even after full nights of sleep. I have fallen asleep while driving on several occasions. I am currently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and am on: 150mg of Lyrica, 50mg of Ultram/Tramodol, and 800mg of ibuprophene 3 times a day; as well as 150 - 200mg of Trazodone at night for sleep and depression. These medications started of much lower and have increased as my systoms have. I have also tried cymbalta, vicodine, ambian, Urtram CR, Soma, Flexeril, and Topamax; along with massage and physical therapy, trigger point injections and chiropractors. Unlike most cases, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia fairly quickly. Only after about a year of seeing doctor after doctor. I've had blood test, MRIs of my back, and x-rays of my back and hands. Although they have found deterioration of my bones in my hands, and 3 discs in my spine, I been told this shouldn't be causing this type of pain. All the other test listed came back normal. I feel as if they are disregarding me due to my age, and that the fibromyagia diagnoses was a quick fix. My questions is, I have heard fibromyagia should only be diagnosed if EVERYTHING else has been ruled out. What other test should my Doctors be running to ensure this isn't something else. I have done some research and found these following names, but my little country Doctors out here in NC said they haven't heard of them. Does anyone have any feed back on these: Arthrography Discogram Epidurography Facet Nerve and Joint Injection MRI Arthrography Myelogram I would also like to add I overdosed on cocaine and alcohol in August of 2004, 6 months prior to these sysmtoms. It was a mistake I made while hanging out with the wrong crowd, and trying to look tough. Have seeked help for this, and do not drink, or do drugs and am very careful about using my medications only as prescribed. I am alway reluctant to tell my Doctors this in fear that they will think I a pill seeker. Could this be useful information for them, or harmful to my treatment? Could this be connected to the cause of these symptoms?
Anyone know a good Pain Management Dr in Atlanta that treats Fibromyalgia? Anyone know a good Pain Management Dr in Atlanta that treats Fibromyalgia? I have Fibromyalgia. I have terrible pain most of the time. I have tried the natural/homeopathic approaches with little to no relief. I've even went as far as colonics and eating NOTHING but raw fruits and veggies. Yuck! I have been going to a Pain Clinic for along time, but really don't like the office staff.(very rude) Does anyone have a drug regimen that really works? Currently I'm on Cymbalta, Lyrica, and Percocet. The Percocet works but I find myself taking extra when it is rainey or cold. So now I need something stronger. Help, I'm tired of the pain and want a Nice new pain Dr.
Should I go to the ER for pain relief due to Fibromyalgia? I am newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after months of unreolsving pain and fatigue. My primary care physician prescribed Celebrex for pain 2 weeks ago. It has not helped at all. Currently my Primary care physician is closed. I called my rheumatologist who told me to begin taking the Cymbalta he gave me, and to expect relief in 3-6 weeks. I cannot sleep and am having trouble walking and dressing due to pain, I simply cannot wait 3-6 weeks. The rheumatologist told me he could do nothing else. I am not finding relief in Tylenol and cannot take other OTC pain meds due to a stomach condition. I am going out of my mind with pain, stress, distress, worry and lack of sleep. I called my pyschologist and left a message with her. I HAVE to work today till 9 pm. Would the ER be a good idea after work? I am just beside myself, crying at work, and a mess. I don't know what I want them to do, I feel like the doctors are relutant to treat my pain because so many people abuse pain meds. But I've never been prescribed anything aside from when I had surgery. Any suggestions will be greatfully accepted.
My Dr. is putting me on Cymbalta? has anyone been on it? I have heard good and bad and I am worried about it. I have pain and am depressed and have Fibromyalgia. Has it helped anyone? I have been on several drugs...I have cervical implants in my neck from a cadaver and I have pain 24/ I have been to UVA as well as many other specialists and have had pain for 6 yrs. Don't tell me all Dr.s are Gods and know it all, because I know better. Wake up, I am in the medical field also, they push untested drugs on people that kill them also. I just want real people to tell me their experiences, know it all A**le. I have checked and it will cost me $64. for a three month supply through the mail. I am willing to pay that if it works.

I take 3 medications daily for depression, narcolepsy, and fibromyalgia. They are Celexa, Provigil,? and Cymbalta. They are helping. My problem is that I am always feeing very overheated and I sweat a lot...this never used to be a problem for me. When everyone else is feeing comfortable, I am sweating buckets.. On hot, humid days like today, I have to stay inside where it is cool or I am more than just miserable, I feel physically ill. Does anyone else have this problem? Have you found anything that helps? Thanks for any advice that you can give me. Thanks for the input. I have my thyroid tested yearly and it's always normal. I have suffered from depression, mild narcolepsy and fibromyalgia for at least 35 years (but not diagnosed) but have only been taking meds for 5 years. The Provigil (for narcolepsy) and Cymbalta (for fibromyalgia) are recent additions. Provigil for 1 year and Cymbalta about 3 mos. at 60 mg. I do have a Dr's. appt. next wk and I will certainly ask if I should be on all 3 drugs.
Taking Cymbalta? anyone ever take this for fibromyalgia and then go off it only to find you are in worse pain than before? What are your personal treatments for Fibromyalgia?
Medication help please? Lyrica/Cymbalta? I am taking these two meds for fibromyalgia. Some one told me this is way to much also that I act differently since I have been on this medication!! Help!!!
Fibromyalgia? I recently started taking cymbalta for my fibro. I am really nauseated, I was wondering if anyone else has had good results with this medicine?
Anyone taking Cymbalta? My doctor prescribed Cymbalta for me today. He says it will help with the "blues" and also my fibromyalgia condition. I've heard good AND bad things about this drug. I would love to hear what you guys have to say about Cymbalta.
Have you been prescribed Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia? It's making me sleepy all day, but I can't sleep until 2-3 AM. Have you tried taking at night?
How long will the side effect of Cymbalta of blurred vision last? I started taking it a few days ago for my fibromyalgia and I have noticed that my vision is a little blurred. That is the most common side effect of Cymbalta. How long does this usually last?
Is there a test for fibromyalgia? I have been diagnosied with lupus for a little over a year now. I have been put on Cymbalta for anxiety and I have noticed I do not have as much pain since I have been on it. I know Cymbalta is also given to those with fibromyalgia. I was wondering if there is a blood test for fibromyalgia? Thanks.
What should I do about Cymbalta withdrawals? I'm 17 and have had extreme pain in my joints and body for as long as I can remember, though the pain has become worse at an exponential rates in the last year or so. The doctors don't know what it is, so I've tried many, many different medications. It appears I have something like Ankylosing Spondylitis in my joints, but also something he thinks might be fibromyalgia. Obviously, the problem is that at 17 the problems are harder to see on MRIs and such. Anyways, I tried Cymbalta to help with the fibromyalgia. He did not warn me that I was too young to take it or anything else. I had severe nausea and was told to discontinue immediately. I felt great mentally while I was on it, and was doing even better in school (though it did nothing for my pain), until the nausea started. Now I've been suicidally depressed and honestly would have ended it if already if I were not a Christian. Then, of course, I feel guilty and that makes it worse. I feel so weird, like no matter how much I know I should be happy because my church is great, I can't do it. I realized recently that these uncharacteristic emotions are probably from the Cymbalta (I stopped it in like May and started feeling more depressed a few weeks after that). Any idea what I should do? I realize I don't need a pill to be happy. That's not why I was taking it. And I know I should have been weaned off. But the problem is that I wasn't weaned off and am now depressed for no reason. THAT is what I am asking for help with. I think I was only ever on 15 mg a day.

Drugs for Fibromyalgia? A little background: I have been really sick since the birth of my son (17 months ago) and have seen so many doctors. I was finally recommended to a Rheumatologist who thought my symptoms were Sjogren's Syndrome. I was also tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis but all tests were normal. Today I had a check up with the Rheumatologist again and he said he thinks it might be fibromyalgia because I have a family history of it. He wasn't too confident of that diagnosis though so I'm not sure what to think. Getting to the point: He wanted to put me on Cymbalta but I tried that before and I can't handle it so he put me on Lexapro. I was on Lexapro after my son was born for Post Partum Depression. Isn't that just for mental type depression? I mean it isn't generally used for physical pain is it? He also put me on a muscle relaxer/pain reliever, Movic (I believe that's what it's called) so I could get some sleep at night. Has anybody taken these or similar drugs before to treat fibromyalgia? Did you get any relief at all? He also recommended I start physical therapy for some joint pain? Has anybody found success with that?
Anyone have any otc treatments for fibromyalgia symptoms? I have leg cramps, abdominal spasms and pain, shoulder muscle pain, low back ache, and jaw pain. All of these are supposedly associated with fibromyalgia symptoms, along with many others. Has anyone out there found any alternative or otc treatments to help? The prescription Lyrica and Cymbalta didn't help, nor did acupuncture. So those would have to be left off my choices. I am at my wits end, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thought I would add also that there aren't really any knowledgeable doctors in my area regarding fibromyalgia and I can't afford massages as they're not covered by my insurance otherwise I would use them for the back muscle cramps. I haven't chosen any one answer as best because no one's come up with anything I haven't already tried, other than the foot pads.
are you trying these things for your fibromyalgia? i am taking cymbalta AND savella and adderall and using the one min ute cure (food grade hydrogenproxide) and tho i was told taking the cymbalta and savella might cause a problem it's the first relief i have had in years!!! google the one minute cure it's amazing!
For all those with Fibromyalgia...? Have you tried Savella (milnacipran) for fibromyalgia-its a new medication, it just came out in 2009. Anybody tried it? What was your experience with it? Also, if you have tried Lyrica or Cymbalta, I'd like your opinions on those as wel... Thank you for your answers!
Advice on Fibromyalgia & Cymbalta & Natural Help.? I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The Doctor wants to put me on Cymbalta. Has anyone been on it and tell me what side effect you've had? Is there any natural way to help Fibromyalgia instead of medication?
what does fibromyalgia feel like? does cymbalta help? I have SLE and i have been having bad muscle achs and weakness from the waste down. At first we thought that it was a flare from the lupus but after a high dose of steroids and no improvment my doctor gave me Cymbalta so see if this will help relieve the pain. Did anyone else take this for fibromyalgia, if so how long before you at least felt some sort of improvment? What does fibromyalgia feel like?
Medicine isn't working for fibromyalgia anymore what will they do next? Added more detail.? Medicine isn't working for fibromyalgia anymore what will they do next? I have fibromyalgia and am always in pain. I go to a pain doctor and take Cymbalta, Klonipin and Hydrocodone. I take 3 10mg Hydrocondone a day and they are starting to not work. I am not sure if there is a stronger strength or if I can take more. I know the pain in killing me and not sure what else they are going to do. Does anyone have fibro and what is the best meds that work? I have tried everything, chiropractor, massage therapy, physical therapy. I exercise and stay active, work a full-time job. I get plenty of sleep and only work 3 days to get my 40 hours and have a easy job taking care of 2 high functional disabled ladies, we stay busy. The weather seems to be making it worse since it is cold now. I think that is why the meds don't seem to be working as well. I have tried Lyrica but it made put me in a haze and couldn't function and savella made me get hives so can only do Cymbalta and pain meds. I have good insurance just wasn't sure if there was anything to suggest to doctor that would work for pain but not cause me to be more drugged up.
Cymbalta: Can it be used for bipolar disorder? I ask because I was put on it earlier in the year, and had some horrible, horrible side effects. While I was on it, in my third week of taking 50mg twice a day (I believe it was 50, but I'm not 100% sure), I attempted suicide. I wasn't taking it for manic depression or depression by itself, I've got fibromyalgia and was taking it to see if it would give me any relief. I haven't been diagnosed with manic depression, though I am going to start seeing a psychiatrist sometime after the new year (kind of scared to, but that's neither here nor there), but every woman (no joke) on my Mother's side of the family has one type of bipolar or another. Some are mild, some are in full blown mania for months and years at a time. I think I am as well, because I've had scattered weeks of mania, but I haven't had any extended periods of major depression. Let me clearly state that I'm not looking for a diagnosis here, just giving backround information. Cymbalta is an antidepressant, and aren't antidepressants generally not a good idea to give to people who suffer from bipolar mania? Aren't mood stabilizers and (when necessary) antipsychotics the route to take? I've found conflicting info googling around. Thanks! Also, I was (and still am) quite young. I was seventeen when I was taking Cymbalta, though I am eighteen now.
Anyone take Cymbalta? Need some advice!? I just started taking cymbalta. This will be my second week on it. I started on 30mg for one week and moved to 60mg about 5 days ago. It is helping to ease the pain of my fibromyalgia and my anxiety is under control. How ever it is making me really tired. I have no motivation at all. I sleep alot. After I take it in the morning I want to go back to sleep. How long will this last?
Has anyone taken Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and had it work or not? I need to know personal experiences of anyone that has taken this medication. I will be taking it soon and am a little worried about it. I got a couple of answers the other day but am looking for a few more opinions please.
Can anyone give me some advice? I just found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant. I take 3 prescription drugs. I take Atenolol for irregular heart rate, Dyazide for swelling and blood pressure, and Cymbalta for fibromyalgia. I don't go to the OB until next Tuesday. I called my pharmacist and they said it would be okay until my appointment but the family doctor says to stop taking all medications immediately. What should I do? When I don't take the Cymbalta I get really dizzy and sick. Can anyone give me advice?
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE CYMBALTA TO GET OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM? I AM ON CYMBALTA FOR FIBROMYALGIA AND I DONT THINK IT IS DOING ME ANY GOOD. MY DR. WANTS TO ADD LEXAPRO TO IT, BUT I WOULD JUST LIKE TO BE ON ONE THING.
How dangerous is it to take Imitrex while on Cymbalta? My 62 yr old mom suffers from severe fibromyalgia AND migraines. The only thing that works for the fibromyalgia is Cymbalta. However, it clearly says in the commercials that you are not allowed to take Imitrex (or other similar migraine medicines) while on Cymbalta... Some migraines my mom can sweat through.. But some others are just to brutal for her to not take the Imitrex. In fact, she broke down in the last couple of days and has taken Imitrex both days. How dangerous is this? Is there anything else that will work for her migraines, that can be taken with the Cymbalta? Serious answers only please.. And trust me, this is WAY beyond what Excedrin Migraine will take care of. These are very severe migraines she gets.. Thanks
What is Fibromyalgia? What is fibromyalgia? Is it a real disorder, or a symptom of depression? What are the symptoms? I noticed it is frequently treated with anti depressants (Cymbalta). I am becoming highly skeptical of modern day medicine.
Fibromyalgia sufferers...? I obviously don't need to talk about my severe, chronic pain and fatigue and everything else that goes along with Fibromyalgia, to other Fibromites... but I "do" want to ask the most popular question among Fibro sufferers... First of all, I've tried all kinds of things, as most other Fibro sufferers have... OTC pain killers, prescription pain killers (primarily Tramadol, but I literally almost died after taking that, and I refuse to take morphine or any other opiates, because I'm afraid of the possibility of becoming addicted... even if the chance is small), muscle relaxers like Flexeril, all kinds of different sleep aids, and I've gotten massages and acupuncture and have gone to the chiropractor religiously, but nothing has even "touched" the pain. I haven't tried any opiates, as I said before (aside from Tramadol, which is a synthetic one), and I haven't tried antidepressants (because I don't actually believe that they could work for a condition such as Fibromyalgia), and I haven't tried Cymbalta or Lyrica yet, because I'm afraid that the side effects will make the Fibro even worse (and it won't end up helping anything), which is what I've heard has happened to many people. So, I just want everyone's $0.02... what have you tried that has actually "helped" with your pain? I'm not concentrating on any of the other symptoms right now... I just want to lessen the pain, but of course in the healthiest, safest way possible. I've lived with it for too many years, and I just want to be a normal woman in her mid-20's! :\
cymbalta for fibromyalgia but will pritique also help? they are very similar if using for depression.? I took cymbalta for my depression for quite awhile then fibromyalga came into my life. comtinue using it to help with the pain. I felt I needed a change for the depression, started Pristique. Will it help like cymbalta because they work on the brain the same way?
Which medication works better for "Fibromyalgia" Cymbalta or Lyrica? I'm suffering from severe Osteoarthritis and I believe Fibromyalgia now and I see they advertise Cymbalta or Lyrica for pain management.
I have Fibromyalgia but with no relief? I am 24 and recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I have been taking several different pills like Cymbalta and various muscle relaxers or pain killers. I also work out and do all the things I am supposed to do. Does anyone know any relief I can find when all else is failing me? I am on one community patientslikeme but i am still not feeling too relieved.
Cymbalta and decreased sex drive? I was recently put on Cymbalta for depression and fibromyalgia. On day one of taking it, my sex drive went from full to nothing. It stayed that way for the next few days until I missed a dose, and on the day I missed, my sex drive went right back up. While I don't like being in pain, not being able to have or enjoy sex is just as bad as the fibro pain, if not worse. I don't want to give up on this medicine right away as it did help a lot with the pain, but I just can't live with no sex drive. Right now I'm taking it in the morning, will taking it at night help reduce its effect on my libido? Also, I just switched from Prozac to Cymbalta. Could the reduced sex drive be caused by the switch in medication?
Help from anyone who is or has taken Cymbalta.? I am taking 30mg of Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia pain and fell asleep last night before taking my dose. As soon as I woke I this morning, I immediately took it at 7am. My question is: Do I wait to take my next dose at 7am tomorrow morning, or do I take it at my regularly scheduled time this evening? Any advice helpful but please don't answer if you have no experience with this drug. Thanks!!
Men With Fibromyalgia? Hi, I'm one of the few males that suffer from fibromyalgia. My question is the 3 main drugs Lyrica,Savella, and Duloxetine "Cymbalta" im guessing are designed for females only being males are so rare to have this, so does any of the medications above or any other type of meds would be better suited for a male suffering form fibromyalgia? I'm going to the Doctor 2morrow and would like o know this. Thanks much.
can you take flax seed oil and fish oil supplements being on cymbalta and levothyroxin? levothyroxin is a generic pill for synthroid and cymbalta is an antidepressant I take for fibromyalgia.
I am taking Cymbalta for depression and Fibromyalgia? But it's not helping the depression...It seems to help the fibro. Is there a higher dosage or an additional medication that can supplement it? Sorry I did not mention that I am ALSO taking Lyrica. My Nurologist suggested the cymbalta to my PCP. So he weaned me off of Zoloft and put me on cymbalta.
I have had fibromyalgia for quite a few years now and I swear it is killing me...help? I have been taking the antidepressant Cymbalta as treatment for the fibromyalgia & depression for the last six years. It doesnt seem to help at all. I am literally bed ridden. It isnt just the pain over my entire body but the constant sickness, fatigue, and insomnia are also symptoms of fibromyalgia. I am worn down emotionally, and physically. For the first time in my life have actually been suicidal. It isnt terminal itself but I have constant nausea and actual vomiting. I cant work, I cant have fun, I cant go anywhere or do anything. Ive gained 30 pounds. I am practically a recluse. I have no friends, no one to talk to. I need some freaking help somebody PLEASE Im begging. Does anyone have any advice or know of any different meds that may be more effective? I dont think I can last much longer.
Does Cymbalta work for you? 10 points best answer!? Hi all! I was curious to know if anybody has taken Cymbalta and what their side-effects were and if you had any withdrawals from stopping the medication? I have been taking prozac since middle school, and that is when my weight gain started. I just found out that Cymbalta is a very good appetite suppressant, which I definitely need, I eat a lot! All day, everyday. Also I have Fibromyalgia and was told that Cymbalta is a very good medication for it. So I was thinking about trying it, but I found that some people when they quit the medication, that they had horrible withdrawals from it. I'm curious to know approximately how many people have experienced that and would also like to know if it helped anybody with weight-loss and did the medication work for either your depression and/or Fibromyalgia? The person who answers these questions will receive 10 points!!!! But any help would be greatly appreciated! I should add that I want details, not one sentence answers. I want to know everything that you went through with Cymbalta. I'm not going to start a medication not knowing what it can or cannot do to you. I need to know all details. http://www.drugs.com/comments/duloxetine/cymbalta-for-depression.html http://health.msn.com/health-topics/depression/antidepressants-and-weight-gain These are the sites from which I got my information. I know that everybody has a different reaction to medications, but I just want to get a generalized idea of what to expect, how I might possibly feel, and see if there is a common overwhelming side-effect that could kill me or something like that. I took Welbutrin before, it gave me severe panic attacks to where I had to go to the hospital and receive high doses of valuum. I'm trying to eliminate a medication. I take Percocet for the pain and I take prozac for depression and loratadine for allergies. If I take Cymbalta, I can eliminate the percocet and the prozac and only take two pills a day instead of three. The percocet helps a lot but my body gets used to them to fast and I am getting to the point where I am taking 5 a day. I need to get rid of that medication because I want to take
Can anyone tell me why i cant take prilosec and cymbalta together? I suffer from stomach ulcers so i need prilosec. Im planning on starting cymbalta for anxiety, panic, joint pain and fibromyalgia pain. I read that its not good too take together, But can i safely. if i could ask the pharmacist i would but i cant its closed
should i be taking cymbalta with a underactive thyroid and also having fibromyalgia? started having panic attacks and and anxiety plus i believe i have fibromyalgia. :(
Is Cymbalta supposed to increase fibromyalgia pain? My doctor assigned me Cymbalta to help with the pain in my joints and back,. After taking one pill I woke up the next day with horrible swelling in my hands and feet and twice as much pain as before. I tried the pills a couple more times over the following month, always with the same effects. When I told my doctor about my symptoms she said the immediate increase in pain and intense swelling meant the drug was working. I'm very confused to say the least, I thought the drug is supposed to help the pain, not double it., .
I have osteoarthiritis and Fibromyalgia, my Dr. doesnt know what to give me for pain? Have tried Cymbalta, Lyrica is out of play since I have a heart valve problem and COPD also. I am doing good on Hydrocodone, but she wants me to try something else. Gabapentin is out tried it with bad effects.. So what else is there to try.. Thx for your help .
Do any of you have fibromyalgia? Have you taken cymbalta, lyrica, or savella? ? My mom has the sympyoms of fibromyalgia, and she wants to see a doctor soon, in the mean time I want to get some feedback on these medications from you guys. we read about them on webMD, but we want to know first hand accounts of ppl who took them. did any of them help? Did any cause problems? Feel free to add any other treatment you had, I'd like to hear any feed back please. also, my mom fears that if she gets on medication, she might get addicted to them, etc. she also has the depression as well as the other symptoms too.
Cymbalta/Seroquel Questions? Hey- im on 60 mg of cymbalta for fibromyalgia. im 14 years old btw, female. and i believe 30 or 20 mg of seroquel for bipolar, schizophrenia, and sleeping issues. seroquel knocks me out. i am like dead once i take it. and when i dont take it(or try to get off it slowly) my body freaks out. i throw up, feel like im going to cry and just have a panic attack. what the heck? can someone please explain this to me?
