Ocular migraine? Does anyone know if the inhaler Atrovent can make ocular migraines worse or come more frequently? The inhaler isn't a "necessary" med - long story. I'm never short of breath nor do I have asthma - I'm on this maintenance inhaler for another reason. But I do need to know if it makes oculars worse. Thanks. Karen
How long can an ocular migraine last? I see a flashing strobe light out of the corner of my left eye. My doctor thinks it may be ocular migraines (it's not a torn retina according to the eye doctor). But I have had this flashing every day for over 2 months!!! Could an ocular migraine really last THAT long???
I have had an ocular migraine for over six days and it just wont go away any ideas? This is the first time this has ever happened to me and it's really starting to bug me. I have visited my eye doctor and he said there is nothing wrong with my eyes, then i visited my family doctor and he told me to try advil liquid gels but nothing seems to be working. I just started taking birth control about a month ago and i have read online that it could be the trigger for this ocular migraine. Any suggestions?
does anyone really know what ocular migraine is? my husband this pass year have been having trouble with his eyes at times some times he wont have a episode for months.Hes only35. hes sight will get very faint to were it forms the tunnel vision effect sort of after he gets very tired and drained of his engery which can take days to recover from altho he only loses his sight for maybe a few minutes at the least. hes been to the eye people and they tell him its ocular migraines with out headaches they said there is really no way to test for this but since he had migraines when he was younger that it suggestes that this was what he had.. well my husband is like a child he wont let the doctors run any blood test or even dilate his eyes basicly all they can do is look in his eyes and do eye test which his vision is perfect. so i have no idea what could be the underlying story here or what i am about to face. does anyone have the same symptoms. he has a sore come up on his feet each time his eyes sight does it .the drs only guesing.
Has anyone ever experienced an Ocular Migraine? My symptoms was seeing a wavy line in my right eye, almost like I was looking through a glass of water. After about 20 minutes it went away, then followed by a mild headache. I thought I was experiencing a detached retina. Scary stuff!!
Eye specialists, ocular migraine? I experienced a shimmering flash of white lights in my eyes and lasted abount 10 min, went away and came back again and was hard to focus. No headache,no pain in my eye. Scared me and went to the eye doctor who adv it was an ocular migraine. By the time she examined me, it had gone away. Do they diagnois this by just looking into my eyes or by the description I gave them?
I had an Ocular Migraine but why is my vision still blurry? I had an Ocular Migraine about 2 weeks ago and it was the second one I have had in my life, and by reading peoples posts online, they are getting them later on in life, but I am only 15 coming on 16. I had one before and I get a severe headache with the migraine unlike some people. A couple of days after the Ocular Migraine I noticed the vision in my left eye (where the blurriness from the migraine occured) was still kind of blurry. When sitting in the library I noticed I couldn't read really anything across the room like I use to with my left eye, but could with my right. I have an appointment with the doctor today and I am just wondering what could be wrong with my eye, is it anything serious or permanent? Thanks for any answers...
Ocular migraine- will I get more? I am 24 yr old female in good health. Lots of stress (full time job as an intensive care pediatric nurse, graduate school, recently moved, married 2 years, have 2 dogs). Was VERY tired at work (3rd shift) and vision got blurry, then right eye lost peripheral vision. Was like frosted glass placed over my eye. Went to ER, had elevated BP (160/90) and had no pain. Had optho exam- normal pressures and structures... diagnosed ocular migraine. Went home and 1 hour later got a 36 hour headache with nausea when I bent forward. Could this have been a single occurance or am I doomed for a lifetime of migraines? HELP!!!!
I haven't had an ocular migraine in a year, is birth control ok? In March of 2007 I had an ocular migraine. I went to an opthomologist, who sent me for an MRI, but everything came back normal. He also told me not to go on birth control because of the risk of stroke. Since then, I've had the occasional headache but nothing major. I'm at the point now where I think birth control would be a good idea. Since I haven't had an ocular migraine in over a year, would it be safe? Anyone with a similar experience?
Is this an ocular migraine?!?!? 10 POINTS!!!? When I wake up, I feel a little dizzy, and then I go put my contacts in. They sometimes hurt then they feel fine. But my vision seems like my vision is going to double, but it doesn't. It's just bugging me. But when I get my mind off of it, I'm fine. Sometimes, when I have both eyes open, one "seems" blurry, but when I look out of it, it's fine. Is it my contacts that are dirty? Is it my eyes? If it is an ocular migraine, how can I stop it? I have no headaches, but I have been eating and sleeping a lot lately, (my mom thinks its that I am growing again). I have also been kind of thirsty. I think I may be dehydrated. What is this all about?
Did i have an Ocular Migraine? I was doing this thing with modeling yesterday. It's called Mannequin Modeling. It was really hot in the place where i was. First, I started to get nauseous, then I was really really hot. I broke out in a sweat. Shortly after that I was extremely dizzy and lightheaded. I couldn't see either. Everything was made up of pink, white, and blue blotches and squiggles and dots. My hearing was also weird. It felt as if someone had placed earmuffs over my ears and my hearing was muted. My mom came to me and gave me cool water, and a sugary cookie.....within 5 minutes, I was still a little dizzy but better. It was weird and I couldn't see anything. Was this a mix of blood sugar crashing and an ocular migraine?? If not..... What was this??? How can I prevent it from happening again? Please, someone who knows what they are talking about answer. Please help me, this was really scary for me!!!!! Also it is a day later and I'm still a bit dizzy......and there wasn't a headache either until afterwards.....After that I had a slight headache nothing major. I was also EXTREMELY tired after this "event" as well.....please please please help me!! Thanks so much! I appreciate it like no other! Please please help me!
Ocular Migraine with severe pain? This evening, after running 6 miles I took a shower. After the shower I was feeling a little light headed, but I was about to make dinner so I assumed I was just hungry and continued into the kitchen. After about 5 minutes, I had to stop chopping vegetables because I couldn't see what I was chopping. My vision was suddenly getting worse and worse. I started to see these little tan shiney things in my vision, and felt my heart race a little bit. I decided I might have low blood sugar, and drank half a cup of apple juice and laid down. 30 minutes later, I was still seeing spots and not getting any better. I called my doctor who didn't seem to worried and told me I was probably just having Ocular Migraines. From what I am reading about ocular migraines, they seem to not cause pain. I felt like my head was going through a meat grinder.. It was horrible. Has anyone had any similar experiences? Aside from sitting in a dark room, is there anything you can do for them? It's been hours, and despite taking some motrin I am still in pain. I plan to call my doctor in the morning, but if anyone has advice until then I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Oh, and I should mention I am a 23 year old female who is in otherwise good health.
Ocular Migraine Help? Hi there... I have ocular migraines, and though they don't hurt at all (thank goodness, because I used to have the 'garden variety' migraines in my teens and 20's and do not want to go through that again) I was wondering if anyone had tried medication for them and if it is effective in stopping them? They last the average time (usually under 40 minutes) and the first time I had one it scared me to death (thought I was having a stroke) but now for the most part I just sit back and enjoy the pretty light show. The problem is that I have no warning when they can come on so I can't drive because when they happen I effectively go blind until they pass (for some strange reason no one wants me driving when I can't see) They can happen from a couple of times a day to once a week. Oh... also... is it normal for it to happen in both eyes at the same time? I am lucky that I don't get the headache... your ocular migraines sound like "migraine aura's" and are actually a precurser for a full blown migraine. Oh... and artificial sweeteners are migraine triggers for me, I haven't taken any in years.
Anyone had a ocular migraine? I have been having these the last 3 years. basically blurred vision, like a bag is over your eye or looking through glass. I went to an eye dr and other family drs, and they didnt seem to worry. I found info online and it seems to fit my situation best. Im wondering if anyone has found a cause of it. I had mono 4 years ago and have been having these ever since along with feeling completely out of it. Thanks any info would help.
The ocular migraines that I'm having are interferring with my job what can I do? I have been having ocular migraines for about 6 months now and I can have them 4 times a week or 2 times a month it varies but almost every time I have one it happens to be at work. The problem I'm having is my boss is threatening to fire me over it because I had to go home 2 times because of the ocular migraines its not the headache its just I feel sick to my stomach and week and then I get a slight headache. But the question is can they fire me for this problem I'm experiencing?
Who do you go see if you think you are having ocular migraines? I have a problem with the vision in 1 eye which happens about once a month and sometimes not for a year. I get a loss if vision in my eye which is like a squiggly line or an arc in my vision. I cannot see temporarily well enough to read or do anything visual, then the visual loss goes out to my peripheral vision,so I cannot see anything in the periphery then fades out. I looked this up on the internet and think I have what is called an optic migraine or optic neuralgia. Should I see an optometrist, opthamologist or who. I have had this problem for about 15 years. I sometimes get the visual problem then it turns into a full blown head throbbing pain. A couple years ago, I had the visual problems first, and I knew it was going to be followed by a big headache probably could be described and a migraine that lasted for about 24 hours. but for the last 5 years or so, it has never been accompanied by a headache, although I worry about it showing up again. Its is crazy, I am a hospital nurse and work with 3 neurologist. We crack jokes and chit chat daily, but I have never mentioned this problem to any of them.
My child has ocular migraines and I need help? My son has been complaining of visual disturbances for quite awhile so 'I took him into the doctor and she said he has ocular migraines. I have migraines with aura but have horrible pain, he has no pain. She said she would refer him to an ophthalmologist but I don't know what to do so if anyone has experience with these please help me with any advice. Thanks

Ocular Migraine Question? My vision has cleared up, but followed by it was a headache. Will the headache eventually go away soon? Or should i take medicine?
Touch Therapy, Massage Therapy, or Alternate Medicine for Ocular Migraines? I am dating this gentleman who suffers from ocular migraines. As a pilot, this gentleman would be in peril should he have a migraine while flying. He already takes medication, but does anybody know of any types of alternative medicine that would help him? I am not a massage therapist, but I was hoping I could administer some kind of treatment and/or teach him how to help himself in the event of a migraine. Any ideas?
Bright squiggling stars? Ocular migraine? Please help!? A few minutes ago, I jumped and landed on my feet and suddenly began to see bright squiggling things that I cannot really describe. They would squiggle a bit, turn black, and disappear. Nothing hurts and this has happened a few times. I don't feel bad now. What happened? What was it?
Can you become a pilot if you get ocular migraines? With me, for the past few months I lose sight in my right eye for about 3 minutes or so (happens roughly once a month) but I don't get any other symptoms. I don't have any other eye problems. I'm considering trying to be a military pilot, but I'm not sure if I can because of this. Would it prevent me from being a pilot? :(
Ocular Migraines/visual migraine? is there anyone there that gets visual migrain..i have had this today..its my third time...and very scary.....can anyone relate and tell me what they experience and how they cope...do yo panic...or just wait for it to go away.....i get the broken glass type images...and its colorful
Does anyone else here experience ocular migraines or auras? I have been experiencing them for six months now and am still an emotional mess after they happen. I just would like to know what you experience and how you get through it please. Any words are appreciated. I just want to know I am not alone. My ocular migraines consist of spinning kaleidoscope of lights and numbness in my face. I also have flashing lights every few seconds that sometimes last almost a week and extreme photo sensitivity. I feel like no one in my family understands what I'm going through. My husband especially tries to be sympathetic but is confused by the whole thing (as am I) and never knows what to say. Thanks.
has anyone experienced an "ocular migraine"? i have twice now and it's really scary if you don't know what it is. mine were not accompanied by an actual headache which they say is common. does anyone have an idea why these happen? thanks for the feedback. the first one happened a year ago and i did not know what it was but got an eye exam and everything was fine and they mentioned something about a migraine when i described my episode but i was thinking "literally migraine" so i thought that wasn't it since i didn't have a headache and this time i looked online and "boom" i saw the description of this and was so happy that i finally found what it was b/c i thought i was going crazy!!!
Does any one here suffer from ocular migraines? I have them about twice a year. I get this shimmery spot in my vision. It gets bigger after a few minutes until it finally disappears and then I get a bad headache. I am not sure if I should see a doctor about this or which doctor for that matter. A general practitioner or my eye doctor? Is there anything that can be used to prevent the migraines from coming back? I would appreciate any feedback form those who suffer from these and who have seen a doctor. Thanks!
Anyone suffer from Ocular Migraines? Can anyone who has experienced an ocular migraine help me? I think i may have experienced two of these in my life. Im 24. A zig zag line that flashed came into my central vision very quickly. Followed by black spots, and holes in my vision. Lasted about 30 to 45 mins. Does this sound like an ocular migraine or something else?
Does anyone else suffer from ocular/ silent migraines? I get migraines that effect my vision. I don't get the headache just blurred blacked out vision for periods of about 30 minutes. I usually feel dizzyish and almost nauseous at the same time. Does anyone else get these? What do you do to treat them? I have been prescribed medicine for it but it did not help. I was also given a prescription for a needle with medicine in it to inject myself but I wont do that. I hate needles. What are some homeopathic things you have tried?
Glaucoma/Ocular Migraines? My optometrist screens me for glaucoma every year because she says that my optic nerves are swollen. She did laser surgery on my retina because of a tear. I had an ocular migraine the other day for the first time and am freaking out about it - I was almost totally blind for 30 minutes. Do you think there is a link between the retinal surgery, swollen optic nerves and ocular migraines? I have an appt. with opt. but not til Mon.
Question about optical/ocular migraines? I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have noticed a substantial increase in ocular migraines. I've gotten them before so I do know that what I'm experiencing is indeed an ocular migraine but I used to only get them once or twice a year. Since becoming pregnant I've gotten then at least once a week. I'm in the last stages of a real good one right now. I'm wondering if anybody knows of anything that can be done, aside from medications, to help stop ocular migraines when they first start before they get to the point of completely taking over one or both eyes?
What do you do if you have ocular migraines? I (15 yrs) got my first ocular migraine yesterday, and I haven't been to the doctor yet. How do you treat or prevent them? And what else can you tell me about them. please respond! does anyone have information on ocular migraines at all!? dbgyog, you obviously don't know what an ocular migraine is. Because if you did, you would know that it is hardly associated with an actual migraine or headache, and that it is a temperary blind spot in one eye that may be accompanied by a headache. Get your facts straight.
Ocular Migraines? I just got diagnosed with ocular migraines. Does anyone else suffer from these and if so, does it usually give you headaches if you watch tv or work on the computer a lot?
anyone have ocular migraines? I went to my eye doctor and was diagnosed with ocular migranes, everytime it happens, when i get the flashy lights in my eyes, immediately after i have headaches in the BACK of my head, never ever the front, and even if i get a normal headache its always in the back of my head. i went to my doctor and scheduled me for an mri to check for anything such as brain tumors or anything. Has anybody been diagnosed with ocular migranes, and found out there was more too it? I am just scared im only 17 years old. So if you have any info please let me know. Or is it just normal to have headaches like that? I am not sure. i hope you can help I get them regularly, i actually had one last night, and i have gone through it SURELY 15+ times.
Does anybody have ocular migraines? I am curious because I started getting them a few years ago and when I got my first one I thought I was going blind. I was reading a magazine and suddenly my central vision was gone and had to stop reading. None of the doctors I went to knew what was wrong. One jerkoff doctor even said I was hallucinating. It wasn't until I looked on the computer that I found out what was happening. I was getting the visual disturbances of migraines but without the pain. I get them only once every few years now. Takes up to a half an hour for my vision to go back to normal.
I have sudden flashes of lights in my eyes? I've been having some bright flashes in my eyes. They only last about a second or two but they concern me. I already have been having ocular migraines but i don't know if it's relevant. I have the flashes about once or twice a day. Not at a particular time. What might this be?
Can I be pregnant after 1 week of trying and already feeling some symptoms? My husband and I have started trying since April 16th 2006 after a miscarriage in March. I had an ocular migraine yesterday (24th) and was very tired and when I brushed my teeth my gums bled, which has happend with my 2 previous pregnancies. I called the eyedoctor and he said ocular migraines are common in pregnant women because of the hormones. The last time I had an ocular migraine I was 4 months pregnant with my first pregnancy. Is it possible that I am already pregnant?
Ocular Migraine or Something Else? I had what I think is an ocular migraine last night... The multiple descriptions I've read of it online fit what happened to a T: "small blind spot appears in the central vision with a shimmering, zig-zag light inside of it" for about 15-20 minutes, very mild headache afterwards (some people don't get any headache pain at all from what I read) and nausea. I have anxiety disorder, so at first I thought it was a weird panic attack! LOL Now I'm just worried that it might mean something more serious and want to reassure myself. My health benefits don't start until the end of the month. I was straining my eyes pretty hard at work yesterday because I had to sit at a computer I'm not used to, and I had to wear my glasses. I've also heard hormonal changes can bring this on, and it is my time of the month, which is a week early because I took Plan B the Saturday before last. I'm also taking a Statin for high cholesterol, but I don't know if that would have anything to do with this or not. I get the occasional floaters in my eyes, but not too often. The whole thing just freaked me out... I'll be seeing a doctor next month, but any reassurance anyone can give in the meantime would be appreciated. Thanks! :)
Ocular migraines question? I had an ocular migraine in November, Januaray, and July 20th. I read online that it has to do with your eyes. Which is true for me, because each time I've had one, my left eyes has like, a blind spot in it. But it also says that with ocular migraines you don't get headaches. But I certainly did...it was horrible! Can you tell me a little bit more about this migraines and what I can do to prevent them? Thanks! (I got the migraine after watching the scene "Scream" in High School Musical 3)
Ocular Migranes ? For the last like 2 years i sometimes get ocular migraines, seriously its the most pain i have ever had to go through. First i can barley see out of my eye(s) and then i get the worst migraine. It's so bad sometimes that a lot of times i throw up. I take Tylenol, they do nothing for me. I drink tons of water. ive talked to my Doctor, they didn't give me reallyy any ideas on what to do. The migraines have gotten so bad that ive had to go to the hospital, and i got a scan thingy, i don't have a tumor. I think a lot of it is from stress, but any ways that i could feel better when i have them?I had one today, for about 8 hours i feel a ton better now, but i'm just so sick of getting them. Ive gotten massages to try and get rid of them, they seem to help me not get them so regularly but they don't help a lot. I any ideas would be appreciated. Yeah, caffeine triggers them. I'm not like fat or anything, i have a steady diet and am really athletic. i just cant get away from these migranes..
Can an ocular migraine happen in just one eye? My brother had this last week, he said it lasted about half an hour, just in one eye, and that he had a big blind spot in that eye. He's 43 and relatively healthy, a little overweight though.
is there a link between MS and an Ocular Migraine? Since I gave birth ( four months ago) I have experienced some strange vision disturbances. While I was pregnant towards the end of my pregnancy I noticed that I would get headaches in the afternoon and that sometimes it was hard to read. So I went to see an eyeglass specialist and was told I had a slight astigmatism. I was given reading glasses and was told to use them at night and while driving as well. I thought that was the end of my eye problems but a few weeks later I started having these episodes where I will see a small circle in my direct field of vision and it would be blurry. As minutes passed the circle would change into a small crescent moon shape and as it got bigger it would move to the right of my field of vision until it left the my field of vision all together. Lasting approx 20 mins. I did not have a headache with the first few episodes. I have since had about five episodes with the last one on this past monday and the last one was accompanied by a strong headache that surrounded my whole head and the headache lasted for hours where as the vision disturbance only lasted 20 mins. I assumed that this was an "ocular migraine" but decided to see my doctor anyways. Today I went to the doctor and I will be seeing a new eye doctor to determine that theres nothing wrong with my eyes and if there is nothing wrong with my eyes I will see a neurologist next. I have a family history of MS. No immediate family such as brothers, sisters, or parents.... but cousins, aunts, and great aunts. I'm wondering if anyone with experience in neurological disorders knows of my experience as a symptom of any disorders including MS?
Help with Ocular Migraines? (How to get rid of them! Where do they come from?)? Last night I had a terrible ocular migraine, I've had them before but this is the first time I'm motivated to find information on them. Does anyone know what causes ocular migraines, and how to get rid of them? (I was fine at first, then all of a sudden my vision started to fade and it was like I was looking through cracked glasses. There was a shining light spot in the center of my vision and my vision its self became unfocused. I felt very lightheaded, almost high, and my entire body felt tingly. The entire time I felt chills and it was almost like I was scared stiff) thank you

Questions on Ocular Migraines? This question is only asked towards either experienced doctors, eye doctors, or those who have suffered in the past from Ocular Migraines WITH visual disturbances, (Aka blacking out), and pain. This is also asked towards any who might relate to similar symptoms and might have an idea of what it actually is. Please note that I will not make my decision on what it actually is until it either happens again or I consult with a doctor. It has not happened in a while, however I would like to be armed with questions should it ever happen again. Today I was glancing up at the TV, when I saw a show talking about a lady's experience with Ocular Migraines. The way she was describing it struck a cord immediately, causing a mental flashback to a time when I was younger. Quickly I went to the computer, where I researched it. Looking through the symptoms and causes, I wondered if it was something that I had once had after a hard afternoon of Ice skating, and then later on in my Karate classes. I am aware that it could be caused by something else, however I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions about it. Whatever I have usually happens during hard exercise. I can fell it coming on, though I always feel lousy even if I don't reach the "breaking point", and always feel like death wormed over after I passed the "point of no return". My vision spots and fades, along with my hearing. I feel a slightly painful pressure behind my eyes, and the pain increases the closer I get to the whole, vision vanishing thing. I went to the doctors immediately afterward, even had a heart monitor recording while it was happening, (Which was dead embarrassing, the stupid machine screamed while it was recording, and it was rather bulky and humiliating to wear period), however nobody could tell what was happening. 1. Have you ever had an almost painful pressure behind your eyes during the episode in question? 2. Have you ever almost passed out from this? 3. Have you ever become dizzy during this? 4. Did you ever have an Ocular Migraine during hard or mild exercise? 5. Has your face become pale/white? (Not racist, just... Medical...) 6. Finally, has your hearing faded away before during an Ocular Migraine? I would appreciate any input that people might have on what this actually is. It's always lingering in the back of my mind whenever I make a decision to exercise, and I hope that knowing what it actually is, and how to prevent it without feeling like crap, will allow me to finally have the freedom and peace of mind to exercise like I have always wanted.
Has anyone else experienced an ocular migraine? I had my first one today...I do suffer migraines, but this is the first ocular migraine I have had. No pain but a growing zigzag blind spot, I could see around the edge but anything in the middle I was blind too. This was one of the most frighten things I have ever experienced, lasted about 45mins then ended, but moved into the more common type of migraine with sever pain. Anyone else experienced this?
Can you get glasses for a ocular migraine? Can you. Some answered my question bout weird things in my eyes and they said it sound like an ocular migraine and i looked it up and found symptoms and those were exactly what i got when i had an ocular migraine. The ye doctor said nothing was wrong with my eyes im 12, no one believes me can u get glasses for an ocular migraine?
Ocular Migraine has this ever happend to you? I had an ocular migraine today it was brief only about 15 min only saw zig zag lines on half of my vision, but now I have been having lots of nausea and a little headache and feel a little tingling and numbness on my upper lip comes and goes. Has anyone ever had this happen I have experienced the ocular migraines a few times before but never the nausea and the other stuff.
Ocular Migraine - Lasting days!!!? Ive been to a Boots optician and they have said that I am suffering with a Ocular Migraine. Most people have them for 30minutes or so - but ive had mine for 5 days now. Ive tried going to my GP but they wont see me for 2 weeks as its 'not urgent'. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of the migraine. Im not having any pain, only my eye is effected. Im having distortions in my left eye, and it hurts to look far left, up etc. Also have quite bad light intollerance. Taken Migraleve - done nothing Taken Nurofen - done nothing (not taken them together). Please please help!!!!
Can you see flashing lights for more then a couple days with a ocular migraine? Well I have been seeing one small flashing light in the middle of my left eye? And I've had it for a couple days now, so I am now trying to figure out if I should worry about it. Sooo, I was wondering how long you can see flashing lights with a ocular migraine because I have had many migraines in the past. I haven't had anything really serious happen to me lately I don't think. And I never had anything bad happen to my eye. So yeah I was wondering that, also if you have any suggestions on what may be wrong I'd be happy to know Thanks!
Weird eye problems? Ocular Migraine? It started about a month ago. It starts all of a sudden. I get these flashing lights. It's kind of like my iris is all white and flashing in my vision. I also can't see very well at all. It only lasts about a half hour, but it's hard to do anything. Afterwards my eyes are sore, and sometimes I have a headache, but not always. When it first started it happened like 3 days in a row, then stopped for a few weeks. Now it happened 3 days ago, and again today. The earliest I can get an eye appointment is in a month and a half. Any ideas what it could be?
Is this an Ocular migraine? Does this sound like an ocular migraine. Okay first it will start off as visual trouble. then theres some kind of thing litteraly floating in my vision and everytime i look at something i cant see it. sorta like: http://www.migraine-aura.org/site/content/e27891/e27265/e26585/e49135/e49199/Richmondeye_migraine_2_en.jpg but i think theres like a lot of colors in it but i dont know if its in one eye or both Usually i end up puking and then after that it starts going away but then i get a huge headache to the point i cry and i want to be alone and not hear any noise becaus it disturbes me. It usually laast for like 1-2 hours. I usually notice it when i wake up but only two times it happened during the day. I also read online that an ocular migraine can cause from drinking to much milk and i drink ALOT of milk. Is this an ocularr migraine? or something else? dont saay go see an eye doctor or doctor bc my mom is not taking me back bc she thinks its a waste of money. The first time it happened was in 2009 of march or april in the morning. I get them about every 4-12 months.
Is there a Naturopathic remedy for Ocular Migraines? When looking at the computer screen at work, and when I happen to be under pressure (either a time constraint or some e-mail I just read that totally sends me through the roof), I find that the screen starts to go fuzzy, like a big blind spot in my eyes that gets bigger, and I get a little vertigo (spins). I believe that what happens is called an ocular migraine...I end up losing like 30 minutes waiting for my vision to return. Is there a cure - perhaps some naturopathic remedy available? The doctors of traditional medicine claim that nothing can be done. Thank you.
Opinion on Ocular Migraine? Well, I know that this probably isn't the best place to get a diagnoses, but I just an educated opinion. Since 7th grade I would get this problem where the center of my vision would be white, and I would see a bunch of squiggles clumped up in the side of my vision, and it never moves, it just sits there and distorts the image. It use to be just an occasional thing like once a year, but recently they have been getting more frequent, now I have had three Ocular Migraines I would say in under two weeks, and the only reason I knew I was going to have on today was because someone told me that my eye was red from my tear duct to my iris and it felt dry or like it was being tugged every time that I moved my eye. Could it just be a combination of things, or something I should get checked out?
Could there be a connection between my ocular migraines and my retinopathy, or other things? i have retinopathy of prematurity, ive had several surgeries to reattach my retinas and i have some vision loss as a result. i also suffer from ocular migraines since i was a teenager, i have been diagnosed by my neurologist with ocular migraines. During my migraines, a sparkling blind spot develops in one or both eyes which gets bigger and makes me unable to see well, then it disappears after about twenty minutes. After that, i get a terrible ache in my eyes. The aura is very disorienting. The visual aura resembles vision disturbance from retinal detachment, but i can tell the difference between them. I understand that migraines are caused by changes in blood flow to the brain and ocular migraines happen when the migraine affects the optic nerve to the retina. I know that migraines are unrelated to detached retinas, however it seems like more than a coincidence to me that I specifically have ocular migraines while also having an eye disorder of retinopathy. Could there be some odd connection between these or other things? I had some head concussions when i was a kid and i was born extremely premature and was deprived of oxygen when i was a baby. Are migraines just a change in blood flow in the brain or is it a syndrome that may have different causes for different people i.e. could my migraines be a symptom of mild brain damage or some kind of brain or oxygen dysfunction? Anybody can get migraines, but is it possible that my migraines are a symptom of something related to my premature birth?
My migraine has lasted 2 days, is that normal? I have had an ocular migraine for two straight days. My vision is so blurred and my head hurts. I feel like I can't concentrate and I am shaky. It's like, I'll go do something and forget I even did that, it's like I'm floating. Is it normal? Should I go to the doctor?
what is between a detached retina and Ocular Migraine? I have all the symptoms of a detached retina but it has been tested and proven several times thats not what it is. The next one down on the symptoms list is an ocular migraine but the symptoms are more often than with an ocular migraine. Anyone with medical knowledge with an idea?
Eye pain, headache recently had ocular migraine? I seem to have a dull pain behind the eyes. I also feel light sensitive and when I read a book it hurts and I feel I see a dark grey block. Opthamologist scan was fine, ct fine and mri fine except that I seem to have blocked sinuses. I fear that with this headache and visual disturbance that I am going blind, but doctors tell me its all in your head and your anxious. What can I do. Every now and then I see spots I am so petrified
Flashing lights in front of eyes/migraine/ocular migraine? Since yesterday morning I've had flashing lights in front of my eyes (first my left then my right too), and had a headache, but it wasn't like the migraine I normally get, and the flashing lights aren't like that normally either (blotchy and really distracting/obscuring to my vision). I went to the hospital last night because the lights do not seem normal, and it's better to be safe than sorry - the doctor said it was a mix of dehydration, migraine and general being ill (I've had a cold the past few days with fever, cough etc). The lights are still here, and I've just woke up to find myself with a headache and feeling sick. What is all this? Is it just some sort of very long lasting, less intense migraine or something else? Not really.. in my left eye, it's more like 2 blotches that allow me to see them if I look at a lightish background, or if I'm in a light room. In my right eye, it's just one small blotch. They also turn dark if, for example, I look at the sky.
Ocular migraine question.? So since i was about 19 (i'm 24 now), i've gotten ocular migraines off & on. Mostly when i wore my glasses. I would see a weird shaped distortion mostly in the right of my right eye and i little in the right of my left. about a half hour into it, the headache part kicks in. My question is, i've read that it can be do to a neurological problem in your brain, but i noticed that whenever i strain my eyes for a prolonged period of time i get one afterward within a day or so. is that possible that they can be caused by that? for example, like when i wore my glasses all the time. or once i watched t.v. from a weird angle because i was sitting towards the side of the room and the next day i got one in the afternoon. i was going to see a doctor about it but to be honest i get one maybe every 4-6 months. that just doesn't seem frequent enough. and also, can it actually cause problems in your eyes? like permanent vision loss? thank you!
Are frequent ocular migraines dangerous? I have been suffering from ocular migraines for a few years now but recently I have been having them a few times a day. Each time I have to sit down for 15 minutes or so until my eyesight returns to normal. My doctor says there is nothing to worry about. Does anyone else have these and has your doctor ever mentioned they could be associated with a potential brain aneurysm ?

Allergies or "Ocular Migraine" or both? When I am in Phoenix my eyes hurt all the time. When I leave town (like now I am in Sacramento), I feel better, but not 100%. In places like Hong Kong, they hurt. Ok, so smog is bothering my eyes (duh). The doctor told me to use eye drops. I have trouble focusing (My glasses are current). I sometimes see faint pinwheels, and spots when they hurt. I get headaches. Yes, it is worse when there is an obvious source of smog, but sometimes there is no good reason. Eating very spicy food, hot coffee, etc make me feel better for a while (maybe it is just a distraction). I want to think that the steam from the coffee is making my eyes feel better. However most people with migraines report temporary relief when they drink coffee.
Question about ocular migraine.? This morning I experienced what I believe was an ocular migraine. When I woke up I had a couple of spots in my vision and then shortly after my peripheral vision became distorted. It only affected my left eye and around the socket of my eye was a little sore. About fifteen minutes after symptoms began everything just quit happening and my vision was normal again. Shortly after my vision was restored I developed a dull headache that has persisted for most of the day. It is more annoying than painful. I made an appointment with my eye doctor and she dilated my eyes and said everything looked great and that she didn't see anything that was concerning. She told me if I experienced any more vision problems to let her know. She never actually said what I had experienced was an ocular migraine, she just said she wasn't concerned about it being something serious. My questions are: 1. Has anyone experienced an ocular migraine and if so were your symptoms similar to what I experienced. 2. Do you think I should make an appointment with my regular doctor to get an MRI or CT Scan. Btw - I'm a 24 year old overweight female with no known medical problems.
Severe eye pain following an ocular migraine.? Every few months I have Ocular Migraines. They are painless, and produce jagged, geometric shapes in my vision, and I lose peripheral vision for a short time. Once they fade away, I often have very very sharp pain in my upper right eye, as well as my eye socket, and brain too. I also become somewhat noxious. These have been going on for about a year now, and I am 16 years old. They occur only once in a while, ranging from one to three months apart. I had one today, and was sent home, because my boss described me as shaking very badly, and my eyes looked funny, or different. My naive mother said that I should stop drinking Monster energy drinks and stop using my computer for hours at a time. Further information: I walked to work today, about a mile, in the heat. I did not become tired during this walk and I barely sweat at all. The previous time this happened, I was outside doing physical activities for about six hours, and came home and started having what was previously explained. Are they linked in any way? I eat healthy and contain my blood sugar very well, and have no other diseases or disorders. I also have perfect vision, no glasses. I've researched and come across a disease called Retinal Detachment, and seem to have all the symptoms. Can someone tell me what's going on? Thank you ahead of time. -Robbie.
How long can a ocular migraine last? Apparently my optometrist says I've been getting these. I get showers of little flashing dots in the center of my vision and i get floaters occasionally. This seems to be worse in darker areas. I'm 15 and he said that it could be because of dehydration (i drink a lot of coffee and used to drink a lot of energy drinks). Oh and i get the flashing dots constantly.
Has anyone had an ongoing ocular migraine? I've had pain behind my eyes for about 10 days and flashes in both eyes (the flashes are sort of fried egg shaped right in the center of my field of vision). I just got new glasses today, so I'm hoping maybe it's eye strain. Is it it unusual to have an ocular migraine last several days?
I need your help, take a chance on ocular migraine or acne for the rest of my life? When i was 13 i was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, which cause me to have severe acne and no periods. The only thing that helps is the combination pill. Last time when i started taking that i started getting severe migraines, so stopped. I'm now 20 and still suffer from PCOS so i thought i'd try the pill again, i've been on it 3 months with no problems but then i lost the vision in my left eye ccompletely only for 5 mins then i got the migraine. I'm having periods again and my skin has c;eared completely i don't know whether to just put up with migraines or come off the pill?
I'm getting an ocular migraine, what do I do? I'm getting an ocular migraine and I haven't had one in 5 - 8 months. Maybe it's because I'm infront of the computer a lot. I'm 15 years old. It usually starts as me not being able to see a certain spot like it's my blind spot, but then it spread up either on the right or left side of my vision and it's like it goes behind the eye and then it disappears. It lasts for about an hour or more. Should I take aspirin? Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes, I can't see that well. I'm not in any stress so... It might be eye strain. I'm not getting a head ache and it seems to be going away. They usually last for an hour but this one lasted about 35 minutes.
