Cluster headache and remedies? This is question is for my father. He get's cluster headaches every year, around the same time of the year for about 2 - 3 months. He gets the severe kind that send him to the hospital. It's pretty bad, and everybody feels bad for him. His veins protrude out of his head, his sinuses start going crazy. Anyway, the doctor ends up just having to give him a morphine shot. That's the only thing that even minimalizes the pain. (Not even fully.) People have committed suicide from the headaches they are so painful. Have there been any medical advances for these yet? Nothing seems to work, not oxygen therapy, or anything (for him). Any home remedies that may have worked for other people? They have to have something for these people... Thanks Sharrona! It would have been nice if his doctors would have suggested that in the first place. We'll definitley be sending him to both.
Does smoking marijuana benefit cluster migraine headache sufferers? I do believe that marijuana has great medicinal value in our society, but the corporate big shots, the mult billion dollar pharmaceautical companies and big government will NEVER allow it to be legalized because they will lose BILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year almost overnight. I was just wondering if smoking it can help relieve me of my migraine pains. Sometimes the drugs that the doctor perscribes are more expensive and can even cause more severe damage to your body than smoking something that is totally natural and from the earth. What do you think?
Is this a cluster headache or is it worse (e.g. tumor)? I've had a mild headache for about 2 weeks, it is on one side of my head near the temple and I feel it during the morning when it lasts for about 1 hour, and at night (slightly for 15 mins). Is it a cluster headache or could it be something worse like a brain tumor.
Can someone give me advice on cluster headaches? I've had this recurring headache since March. I think its' a cluster headache but I'm not sure. Almost every day as soon as I wake up, at work. I can't find any over the counter medications that will work. It's always on the left side at the temple.
What is the best way to deal with cluster headaches? I have been getting them for years, but I recently connected the symptoms, frequency, and duration to possibly being cluster headaches. I will see a doctor on Monday, but I would LOVE any suggestions. I have already tried the dark room, cold/hot rags, etc.
What Should I Do About My Cluster Headaches? Experiencing cluster headaches since Monday. I called the doctor's office and they said I won't be able to see the doctor until February 11. What should I do? Nothing I take eases the pain. Is there something that I can maybe buy over the counter?
Migraine & Cluster Headache? I'm 19 and had been diagnosed with migraine for quite a few years. The doctor prescribed me with 100mg Imitrex but it still doesn't manage to help me much. I tend to have few attacks per week and since few weeks ago, I always have headache on one side of my head/face that doesn't seems like the one that I usually have before. The pain comes suddenly and it also affects my eyes. Does this sounds like cluster headache? I haven't tell anyone/ go see a doctor regarding to this problem. Definitely not going to tell my parents since they always think that I'm exaggerating about the pain. I'm wondering if it is possible for someone to suffer from both migraine and cluster headache. And to those who also suffer from migraine, how do you manage your life, cause I don't seem able to live life normally with this illness, plus the severe food allergies that I have. Hope someone could give some insights, thanks.
Cluster Headache, Restless Leg Syndrom, OCPD, and Borderline Personality Disorder? Anyone have these issues like me? Here's my current meds: Verapamil, 40 mg 3 times a day, Trileptal, 300 mg twice a day, Midrin, Requip. Since taking this cocktail, been tired, however, my cluster headaches seem to be gone, head just fizzed out. Before I was getting cluster headaches 3 times a day, around 2:30am, 1:30pm and 9pm. Felt like a brain freeze and lasted about 2 hours. So far so good. Feels like the head still want's to attack me, but it's like loaded with novacaine.
cluster headache or migraine? I get headaches almost every day. They usually start around the same time of day and the pain is behind one eye. It is the most excruciating pain that I have ever felt. Nothing seems to help much. Excedrin migraine helps a good deal though. I don't know if this is migraine or cluster? Can anyone help?
Cluster headache, Migraine, or something else? Here's the story: On Halloween night I took my kids out and while we were walking I sat down on the curb and got incredibly nauseated and dizzy and a stabbing pain on the right side of my head behind my eye. It was bad enough that I could not get up. They had to call the ambulance to come get me. At this time I was bleeding heavily (period). At the hospital, They diagnosed it a cluster headache and gave me Demerol and oxygen therapy. It got better. I since have not had such an attack but I have had headaches. I went online and researched CH and I don’t match most of the symptoms. It was more like a migraine but my doctor said I don’t get them. I think it had something to do with my heavy period. What are your thought on this? Just wondering if anyone had something simalar?
Cluster headaches please help before they totally ruin my life? Im suffering from cluster headaches and am at the moment enduring a long period of attacks. I can get as many as three a day and always one in the middle of the night - which wakes me up in absolute agony. Hello everyone, i am a 18 year old male and i have been suffering headaches almost everyday for 10months now, i can describe the pain as deep thuding most of the time, sumtimes sharp just left from my left eye around my temple, but 90 percent of the time its about 2 inchs up from my left temple. My headaches can last from 2 mins to 3-4 hours, nothing seems to bring on the headaches neither get rid of them also its usally afternoon time when i get them never suddenly after wakening, always feels better after a sleep, my doctor diagnosed my with Chronic Cluster headaches, i have been for a C.T just awaiting the results.3 weeks ago i started to suffer with neck stiffness, when i started to rub i noticed a very hard lump mabey the size of a marble just up/right from my left shoulder blade this is very tender to touch, but i think i could hardly notice this if i didnt touch it, just the stiff neck.Bearing in mind that i have had no other symptoms apart from the daily headache for 10 months the a gradual stiff neck and the muscle knot. migraine/cluster headache/ salt-related? I've gotten cluster headaches before, and the headaches I'm talking about aren't them, but just wanted to give a bit of background- also, I'm healthy, exercise, eat pretty well except for a strong lack of salt in my diet, because, and here's my question eating really salty foods (chips especially, most notably fritos) will give me a horrible headache an hour to a few hours afterwards... I realize, in retrospect, that the reason I avoid salty foods isn't really because I have a problem with the taste, but because ingesting much salt always gives me a bad headache.. is this normal? does anyone know why salty foods give me a headache?
Any medicine, home remedy for cluster headache? My husband has been sufferring from cluster head ache since few years, is there any known, proven home remedy that will reduce the intensity of the pain? Sphurthy http://health-related.blogspot.com

could this be a cluster headache? For the past week several times an hour I get a horrible feeling in the back of my head. It feels like someone is punching me in the back of the head, sometimes as bad as a stabbing pain followed by the punching pain. Rarely my left temple hurts, it mainly pain in the back of my head. Any ideas? Really not in the mood for dumb responses, like "we're you punched in the head?" no I wasn't, in fact I haven't had any head damage in over 10 years.
Any ideas how to cope with 'Cluster' Headaches? I tend to suffer from headaches and migraines but for the last 10 days I have been waking up with a headache. I was once advised by my GP that it could be Cluster Headaches. Has anyone got any info on that please?
What's the best way to treat a cluster headache? I'm a 22yr old female and I get all kinds of headaches except migraines (thank God). I know how to handle my tension headaches and my hormonal headaches, but these darn cluster headaches defeat me every time. The best treatment I've found so far is caffeine. It tempers the pain a little but I still can't bend over or sneeze without being blinded by pain. I can't take most pain medicine because of the heart medication I'm on, which is just as well since they don't do anything for my headaches. But I've tried them all anyway, Excedrin, tylenol, even oxycontin (just makes me high), and the like. Any suggestions on how to handle these bad boys?
I recently went to the doctor because I get stabbing feelings...cluster headache? I recently went to the doctor because I get a stabbing feeling in the back of my head a lot. Sometimes it lasts 15 minutes other times it lasts hours. I never get a fever but I do get lightheaded and very dizzy to the point that I cant see very straight. I get these headaches normally early in the afternoon (by 3pm im feeling it a little) and it becomes worse if I stay on the computer too long. The doctor told me I have cluster headaches but the problem is I have never had a migrane and i am 99.9% certain that what I have is not a migrane and I've been told that cluster headaches are worse than a migrane so I am beginning to question my doctors theory. Im not sure what is wrong with me but it is rather annoying. I become very dizzy and cant see straight at times and get sharp pains in my head. Have been feeling this way for about a month. What do you think can be wrong?

Anyone else suffer cluster headaches or know about them? Every 6 months or so, my father is stricken with cluster headaches. He will have on the average 3 episodes a day, and they last about 15 minutes. This will go on for about 3 months then they just quit. The pain of these are so intense he's actually begged my mom to kill him to stop the pain. Does anyone out there have any ideas how to minimize the agony while these episodes are occurring? He's on several meds for this condition, but nothing seems to help much. What works for you?
Aside from sleeping, what can I do to ease cluster headaches? I feel like pulling my eyeball out! For you Fez: Brielfy and abbreviated from Wikipedia... Cluster headaches are extremely painful, unilateral headaches of a piercing quality. The duration of the common attack is 15 minutes to three hours. Onset of an attack is rapid, and most often without the preliminary signs that are characteristic of a migraine... Though the headaches are almost exclusively unilateral, there are many documented cases of "side-shifting" between cluster periods, or, even rarer, simultaneously (within the same cluster period) bilateral headache. The degree of pain involved in cluster headaches is markedly greater than in other headache conditions, including migraine. It has been described by female patients as being more severe than childbirth. The pain is lancinating or boring in quality, and is located behind the eye or in the temple... An analogy frequently used to describe the pain is that it is like a red-hot poker inserted into the eye.
Where could I find support for cluster headaches? I suffer from chronic cluster headaches. Treatment helps a lot, but they are still very bad. I've tried contacting other "clusterheads" to talk to for support on websites like "clusterheads.com", "O.U.C.H.", but no one responded. Is there any body else who suffers from these?
cluster headache, almost every day at 9:15 am, but sinus drainage is in throat not out of nose.? Every day at 9:10-9:15 like clockwork I can feel the pressure and pain building up in my eye, like someone is going to pull it out. But ive never had nasal drainage with my clusters. I know typically its normal for nasal drainage and even eye drainage, but I dont have that and have recently been getting a sore throat from drainage in my throat. Do you think this is drainage from the cluster or from a sinus infection? Also, what is a way to make clusters more manageable? How in the he?? do you hold a job?
Are there any cluster headache sufferers out there who would be willing to be interviewed for a news story? I'm a student reporter writing a story on treatments and research for cluster headaches and would like to speak to some actual sufferers of this debilitating condition, and not just doctors and scholars. Please let me know if you're interested. This would entail me getting your phone number and email (you don't have to leave it in your answer) for contact purposes. Serious replies only, please. Also, Texas residents are of special interest to me.

I heard that the the cluster headache is increasing the blood pressure during the headache attacks,Is this true ? what is the perfect treatment mainly for patients who has hypertension problem? Cluster Headache sufferers, what do you do for pain relief? After being in remission for a year, these little devils have returned to plague me again!!! I'm literally to the brink of just jumping off a cliff or something. Is there anything in particular that you found works for you? I've tried the whole oxygen thing and it's ineffective for me. THESE ARE NOT MIGRAINES. I have cluster headaches which are completely different...they are not even a valid comparison. Migraines are a tickle in comparison to a cluster headache.
What pain medications are most effective for migraines and cluster headaches? I either have 2 autoimmune conditions or one systemic one. The verdict is still out. Anyway, I have severe stomach pain and also eye pain and horrible headaches that feel like a cluster headache. Maybe they are a really bad migraine. I am not sure. What medications, specifically in the opiate family, would be most appropriate? Which one would you ask for if given the choice?
Does this sound like a CLUSTER HEADACHE? A while ago I thought I had cluster headaches and recently, I've started to get the same type of headaches again. Now, I'm really wondering. Does it sound like a Cluster Headache to someone else? I had these headaches in February and the beginning of March. Then, they were consistent (almost every day), sometimes for hours, sometimes shorter but they'd come back. For a while, they went away but within the past week or two... they've started up again. They occur around the same time of the day, everyday. On occasion, I won't have it or feel it nearly as bad. Sometimes, they come and go through-out the day. Most of the time, they start sometime around 3pm and come and go until about 7pm; but sometimes, when they are worst... they continue through the night. Luckily, I haven't been waking up to them like I had been. The pain is excruciating; normally less when I'm seated or laying down but the moment I go to get up... it's almost crippling. The pain used to be mostly on one side of my head, but lately has been mostly in the back of my head and horrible around my neck/shoulders. I feel extremely tired and often have pale skin when they are worst; and most of the time, my eyes are irritated. Any information?
Cluster Headache Questions? A little over 3 years ago I suffered from cluster headaches for a couple months. I remember screaming and crying.. I am a grown man but I couldn't help but do it. I was given many drugs that didnt work like migraine type medicines and would take massive amounts of tylenol and Advil to stop the pain... which didn't work. Eventually I took klonipin which did seem to really help my problems. I am now on lexapro and haven't taken klonipin for a couple years. I hear that cluster headaches come and go for people... some don't get it for years then suddenly get it again... what are my chances because after seeing a Newsweek video on cluster headaches my fear of them has come back. It literately kept me from living life at the time. I was very close to suicide.

Has anyone had experience with Cluster Headaches? I've been dealing with cluster headaches for the last year or so and my doctors are just about out of options as to treatment. They've pretty much tried it all. Just wondering if anyone out in Yahoo! land has ever had these headaches, and what treatment (if any) has worked for them.
Cluster Headache.......? For just over 2 days now I've had a Cluster Headache at the back of my neck, Ibuprofen doesn't seem to be working neither does paracetamol. Yesterday I thought it had gone, but it keeps coming back. I do have some Migraleve tablets from Migraines, but I'm not sure whether I can take them too, because I have recently took some Ibuprofen which doesn't seem to be working. Can someone help?

My husband has been diagnosed with cluster headache how do we move on? I posted last week saying my husband has been diagnosed with cluster headaches, we are now 5 weeks into this and its still going on, I despair with this he has gone from being a man who was in really good job confident and strong to a wreck he has lost weight can't do anything, and relies on oxygen to get through each day. I feel sad and helpless as I am losing the man I married. is there any hope out there if so please give it to me.
Symptoms of cluster headaches without the headache? Im 16 and always thought it was just allergies, but I'd like to find out what it really is so I can get rid of it... I have ptosis (drooping eyelid), miosis (pupil contraction) conjunctival injection (redness of the conjunctiva - the covering of the eyeball), lacrimation (tearing), rhinorrhea (runny nose), and facial blushing, swelling, or sweating, all appearing on the same side of the head as the pain. Also, which isn't listed for cluster headaches, numbness and tingling on that side of the face, sometimes just around my nose, other times all over my face. Sometimes I have a slight headache, but I always thought that was from stressing over wanting to be better. It seems to happen most when I'm not home, or after I've been outside. Any ideas? (Sorry if I posted this under the wrong category)
How can I get rid of a cluster headache/migraine? I have migraines & have been told by my doctor I also have cluster headaches, due to tearing eyes & one side or the other of my head hurting/swelling. This headache has been going on for 4 weeks now, starting into the 5th week. Meds only numb it for a hour or two. At this point I just want to die & be done with it. My doctor has refereed me to a neurologist, but can't get in till November! Been down this path before & it didn't help. Please give some suggestions! How bad is Excedrin Migraine vs Esgic Plus?

Migraine and/or Cluster headache? I have had migraines since I was very young. They have progressively gotten worse throughout life, especially since the birth of my daughter 5 years ago. I got one on Monday (that I STILL have) however, it's different. I have the usual excruciating throbbing on the one side around my eye, but yesterday evening it felt like someone took an ax to the back of my skull (on the opposite side.) I am terrified of the ER (from past experiences.) I have tried everything I have! (Relpax, Topamax, 800 mg Motrin, Excedrin Migraine, Benedryl.) I'm desperate, but I am terrified that I will walk into an ER or Urgicare and be treated like garbage. BTW: I have no insurance since I lost my job. I just want to know if I have a migraine with a cluster headache now. I just want to know what I am in for. I am completely dysfunctional. TY for the exercise, however, I have been trying it regularly all week hoping that it works eventually. Thanks again. I had an CT scan a year ago and they found spots on my brain that "show cause for sever migraneous attacks." Again, I just don't know if I am developing cluster headaches too and if so, what am I in for because chances are I won't get treatment.
What's worse than a cluster headache? holy shiit I just saw this youtube video about a cluster headache attack and it scared me to death. The person looked like he was going to die. Apparently it's worse than child birth O_O. Nothing should be worse than child birth.
Why do cluster headache sufferers get short on breath? My girlfriend has been having cluster headaches for a few months now, and has just recently been diagnosed with them. And no website as of yet has told me anything about what happens to cause the shortness of breath. Does anybody know? And what are meds/aids that are within budget that can help prevent the severity of the headaches. Please and thank you!
cluster headache & tired after eating beans? I ate some canned dark red kidney beans and then a few minutes later, I get a cluster headache and I started to feel sleepy, why is that? I also drank 4-5 cups of water. and, I have a stuffy nose now. what is going on? could it be allergies or is the food making me sleepy? I am not a diabetic and I cant go to the doctor cause I have no insurance or money. what can I do to stay awake?
Cluster headache or?... (HELP)? A month ago I was out with my friends and we all bought a 40. (I haven't drankin any alchohol for a full month before this) The only 40 I ever get is Cobra, but I decided to change it up. So I got a Colt 45. I came home later and decided to finally open it up and start drinking. I only drank a quarter of it becasue I didn't like it. The next day in the shower I felt a tingiling sensation around the top left part of my lip. I finished showering and noticed the tingling was spreading. About 15 minutes, from the whole top left side of my lip, all the way to top of my nose, under my eye and my cheek was ALL numb. The whole top of my mouth was numb and so were the teeth. I had a REALLY bad headache on the same side of the numbness, I really didn't have that much pain behind my eye though (some though). It wasn't watering or red. I didn't have sinus drainage either. (Even though I had a sinus infection.) .I told my dad and we went to the hospital. I got a cat scan, came back clear. While waiting for the cat scan though the pain and numbess went completely away. I did end up finding out though I had a sinus infection. The doctor told me it was a cluster headache. Which I don't believe after all my research. Really none of the symptoms match. I have never had this happen to me again. Its been a month now since it happened and I am curious to what it was. I want to be able to go out and drink without having to worry about this happening again. If I drink do you think this will happen again? Could it have been some kind of Migrain? Could it have something to do with the new alchohol I drank? Was It because I had a sinus infection? asdfghjkl.... Help. I am 18 years old and a male.
just had a massive cluster headache. Is there anyway to stop them? I've had tension headaches and migranes on average twice a weekfor donkeys years, and I had my first cluster headache in november. first time wasn't so bad, but I thought i'd been whacked on the head with an iron bar. I thought I got mugged, until it clustered again a few minutes later and I googled it. I've just had the second, it was the most painful thing I've ever had in my life, about four bursts spred over two hours. how do I stop these bloody things short of putting a bullet through my head?
