How can you get rid of chronic knee pain? I've this chronic pain for quite some time now, I've had to use braces, and ice packs. I'm even taking a joint formula and it seems to be helping, but I'll be walking and all the sudden my knee(either one) will start hurting like I pulled a muscle or something. I can't get anything off of medical sites and it is kind of getting annoying.
What are some ways to alleviate chronic knee pain? My boyfriend recently injured his knees by overexerting them during a bike marathon he didn't train well enough for. He has been taking glucosamine with Chondroitin and msm, doing some different leg stretches, and icing his knees (20 mins at a time) when they hurt. He has stopped bike riding for the most part, but is very active and plays soccer once a week, and participates in the occasional football game. He knows its better to rest, but there is really no way to stop him from continuing these activities (his choice, not mine). Does anyone else have any tips for knee pain or helping his knees heal faster? Preferably to people that deal with this particular issue.
What can I do about chronic knee pain? When I am sitting it's ust fine. When I walk my left knee feels like I have a knife in it.
What is the best otc medicine for severe chronic knee pain? I have a shattered kneecap and have had 40% removed, a ruptured patellar tendon, a torn acl. I also got M.R.S.A. and it deteriated my prepatellar bursa so now my skin is healed directly to my tendon. I have a screw in my tibia, femur and a screw in my patella to hold my patella tendon in place. They used a 10mm graft of my hamstring tendon to replace my acl. I hurt everyday and never sleep because of it. Can someone please help?

Anyway my knees hurt constantly and i can always feel this grinding sensation when i bend my leg and i cant do leg extensions cause i get sharp pain in the general area of my MCL. How can I deal with mild but chronic knee pain? My knees have been bothering me off and on for years. I'm 29 and physically active (no running though) and otherwise healthy. My knees ache from time to time, not always together, usually just one then the other. Sometimes it's so bad I can't sleep. I take ibuprofen, use aspercreme, etc. but it only lasts a little while. I went to the doctor once and they told me the undersides of my kneecaps were rough, and that with exercise it would improve, but it hasn't. So . . .any ideas? My deductible is $1,000 so I am trying to avoid going to a doctor again.
What can safely I take for anxiety if I'm taking Tramadol for chronic knee pain? SSRI's are a no go..and don't work for me anyway. What other meds are available that can be safely taken? Would it be easier to switch my pain med? Thanks

Natural treatments for chronic knee pain? I take glucosamine and chondroitin. I also use hot baths and heat pads. Is there anything else to keep the pain down? I had a serious injury 30 years ago and just had surgery but the pain is a challenge to keep under control. Any suggestions? Thanks. Peace.
Chronic Knee pain, what could be the causes? My right knee is always hurting and makes crackling sounds and this really prevents me from doing activities, exercising! I did an MRI, came out perfectly fine, but the pain does not go away. Ice and acupuncture temporarily takes the pain away. Somebody said it could be low calcium?? I would really appreciate knowing more about this. Plz advice. Thank you!
Chronic knee pain for 2.5 years but a clean MRI. Any ideas? I am a 23 year old female and have been dealing with chronic knee pain for 2.5 years. I have pain when sitting, walking, and especially on stairs and it is located beneath the knee cap. The pain is burning and itching and during activity it can be piercing. I initially injured my knee in China and was without proper medical for attention for six months until I returned to the States. Prior to the initial injury, I ran five miles a day. Upon seeing a doctor in the US, I was diagnosed with patellar tendinitis. Since then, I have rested for periods of up to five months, completed physical therapy four times, tried neurontin for the chronic pain, cortisone shots, and hyalgan shots. Additionally, my MRI came back fine. This week during physical therapy the inside lower part of my right knee bruised and swelled up and my PT suggested it looked like bursitis. I also am experiencing IT band issues. At this point in the treatment, I am discouraged. Does anyone have any input? All of my pain came back when I started PT again last week and I just want to run again!

Anyone used chiropractic for chronic knee pain? Did it help? I also have bilateral faciatis.? I had meniscus surgery 2 years ago on right knee; still have pain in that area. Went thru PT several times, etc. Have many different kinds of shoe inserts, PowerStep helps but I can only wear certain shoes. Ice helps best, heat feels good but doesn't help. The PF in my left foot makes my right knee pain worse. I've had chronic PF for at least 10 years and am worn out. I used to run/speed walk and stairs are even an effort for me now. I'd like to try something different than an Ortho. I take Ibuprofen 3x daily. So I wondered if chiropractic might give me some relief. My ortho wanted me to go thru the Pain Clinic...
Chronic Knee Pain, "Popping"/Tendinitis? I am a 30y/o Male, ex-military/football player with chronic knee pain. Never injured them, but over the past few years have noticed increased "popping" sensation in both knees if I am standing still, then walking either R or L; and while going up and down stairs. Right knee, lateral, pain if I push just below the top of my Fibia that creates a "numb" feeling going down my R leg. Pain is increasingly getting worse and more frequent, I get pain now even when I don't exercise or engage in athletics. MRI was Neg. Dr. recommended Osteo Biflex and RICE but it doesn't help and I don't want to have to take Motrin every time I want to walk without pain and discomfort. Is there anything else I can do? Many thanks in advance for your help and time.
treatment for chronic knee pain? chronic knee pain for almost a year. X Ray was taken, MRI was done and then was sent to a rhumatologist due to the MRI showing it was rheumatoidoid arthritis. Rheumatologist says its not and drew fluid off the knee to be analyzed. I was on steroid treatment for 6 weeks and it did a wonderful job but after the treatment was stopped the swelling and pain returned within 1 week. I don't go back to the doctor for 6 weeks to find out the results from fluid that was drawn. My knee swells right above the top of the knee in the front. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you
I'm heading out to Basic Training with chronic knee pain in my right knee.? I can jog and do push-ups and situps like a maniac. But squats and lunges are pretty painful. Does anyone know what kinds of exercises you do other than running that could effect the knee joint. (i.e. squats, lunges, squat thrusts, shuttle runs) or any other rapid turning and pivoting.
Can anyone advise on treatments for chronic/worsening knee pain? I have Ehler's Danlos Disease type 3 (most likely... but I could also have the vascular type or a cross-over). I am 33 years old and haven't been seen for this since I was a Navy brat at the age of 15 or so. In short, I am very flexible ("double-jointed") and I hyper-extend my knees a lot (I look knot-kneed AND bow-legged lol) I "wore" a knee brace to help keep me from hyper-extending way back when but more often than not, I hid my brace in my locker at school. Now I'm paying for it. When ever I stand up and stretch and left knee "pops" resulting in excruciating pain. For several minutes, I cannot stand on it. Other than loosing weight (I'm at 115 and trying to get down to at least 105 mostly for the sake of my knee- I know I am on the average to thin side at a height of 5'5") what else can I do? I live in the country so there aren't any Dr's who know much about this. How about pain management? Any suggestions, tips or sites? Many thanks, ~eisha Many thanks for all of the suggestions and well wishes. I'll make an appointment with my general practicioner (sp) and see if I can get a referral. In the meantime I'll try some of what ya'll wrote here :)

Chronic knee pain when standing/bending knee? When standing up from a sitting position, or when I keep my knees bent for 15 minutes or more, I experience a severe ache-y pain in both knees. No cracking or noises, just pain. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I am 16 years old and female, in good health, and haven't had previous knee pains before. I don't remember injuring my knees, so I'm assuming it's from the change in weather recently.
I am disabled-56 yrs old with diabetes and chronic back and knee pain, plus clinically depressed? I need assistance paying for my prescribed meds. I live in Sarasota, FL and don't know where I can get help with my medications and psych help. Are there any state, local agencies that provide help?
I have severe chronic knee pain in my right knee.? my doc prescribed 5/500 mg vicodin. but i need something stronger, what should i say that can get me something stronger without sounding like a drug seeker. and i fucking know the drug is addictive and just to tell you a head of time you stating something i already know isnt going to make me change my mind about taking it so dont waste either of our times stating the dangers. (for all those idiots who think people dont know or even care that their taking an addictive drug)

How to get rid of chronic pain? How do you get rid of chronic knee and back pain? I am only 49 years old but I am considerably overweight. (5'2", 250 lbs.) I know I need to lose weight, but that is not going to happen overnight. I am getting so tired of hurting all the time. Is there anything I can do to stop this pain? Do you ever get used to living with chronic pain? I have chronic back and knee pain. The doctors can't find a cause but it makes my life a misery although I am lucky as it doesn't get worse with activity so I can still lead an active life. Any advice or tips on dealing with it? Do you eventually just get "used" to it? The problem is I am only 26 and feel I am too young to be dealing with this.
Chronic knee pain after surgery? I had a MCL grade II sprain to my right knee due to a work related injury in May 07. I have had arthroscopic surgery to remove plica from the injury sight last Oct. After two weeks of therapy they released me with no seen improvements, the doctor has also released me from workers comp. I am still having sever pain in my knee that is hot, stinging and burning pain accompanied with sharp stabbing pains. I recently help clean a garage for 4 hours, according to my doctor I have no restrictions and can do anything I want. But that is not what my knee says. It has taken me 5 days (and still counting) to be able to do anything. Mostly I sit in bed and rest, ice and elevate. I was fired from that job and have no compensation for this injury as workers comp has dropped me. I am a truck driver and have a physical job, no way could I ever work in this condition. I see the doctor again on the 26th, to beg him for help. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me in this disparate time? Guess I am getting no luck here.... My search continues! I have been driving a truck for 23 years, at 46 do you suggest school?

chronic knee pain in 19 yr old? I dislocated my left knee when I was 15. After waiting 4 weeks (dr's orders), I returned to irish dance (which is how I injured it, it's alot of jumping). This was almost 5 years ago, and I still have horrible knee pain. My knee starts hurting after I work out, after I sit still for too long, when it gets cold out, when I wake up in the morning, and it will randomly give out. It either grinds, pops, and will even make a squishy noise. I've done everything the doctor tells me and it still hurts. Any advice would be great!
Help with Chronic knee pain? I have had chronic knee painfir years and it has been getting progressively worse. I am only 21 and do not have sore joints anywhere else. I thought it was just from working all day (standing) but it occurred to me that my knees shouldn't hurt THIS much. It usually hurts more as the day goes on and sometimes feels a little better after i stretch. Do I have arthritis? If so what kind? What can I do? Just excercise end tylenol? Bad knees do run in my family but my relatives have all rotated their knee caps, which has never happened to me.
Help about pain management, chronic knee pain? I am a very active 24 year old, in Army, play softball and workout once a day. In may I was diagnosed with Chondrolmalcia, stress fractures, and arthritus in my right knee. The surgeon said "i am to young to get knee replacement, come back in 15-20 years, if something hurts dont do it." Well thats fine but I have been in pain every day, I stand for to long it hurts, sit for 15 minutes it hurts, walk to much hurts, I am constantly icing my knee and other things to try to live a some what normal life. I refuse to not do anything and curl up in a ball and roll over! I have taken alot of meds, ranging from darvoset, naproxen, tylenyol 3, Vicodin, Indomethacin, Tramadol, and percoset. In the last week i have seen two doctors trying to refill the percoset(it works), he asks me this morning, "do i think that i am getting addicted," and i say no you give me a 10day presciption and i return 15-20 days for a refill. I take 2 a day and you prescribe 3-4 per day!what is my next step?i need advice!
Has anyone experienced chronic lateral (outside) knee pain? I have a chronic pain in both knees at the lateral (outside of thigh) part of them. I am certain that they are from over-training, but they won't heal. I have stopped lifting weights or running for two months now. Sometimes they will get better, then worse over the course of a week for no apparent reason. Once they are warmed up, I could run as long as my endurance holds out without pain. A half hour later, I can barely walk. Ice and anti-inflammatory medicine only help in the short term. I know I need to go to a doctor, but I can't afford it. I am so frustrated. I am starting to feel like I'll never be able to participate in sports again. Has anyone had anything similar to this? And if you did, what did you do to make it heal? Andy
How do I fix my chronic knee pain? I've been taking ibuprofen now for 8 months. A sharp pain in my knee started after cashiering for a month during winter break. Seemingly for no apparent reason. The pain is too severe not to take ibuprofen and I feel like I can't function when I don't take them. The pain goes away for 6 or 7 hours when I take some and I feel fine. I had an mri and it came back negative. The doctor's diagnosed it as tendanitis in July but I'm still not sold. They basically said it was strange case and that basketball and physical activity should bother it even though they don't. They sounded perplexed and not confident in what they were telling me. I have some knee excercises but nothing has improved. What is this pain? Should I just continue with the excersies and hope it gets better? I'm worried about the long term use of ibuprofen and don't know what to do next.

chronic knee pain and cracking? Hi, I am 21 years old and my knees have been cracking ever since I was 13 or 14. Most of the time, its nothing, but recently I have been feeling this dull, almost numbing pain in my knees (sometimes in my entire leg and in the hip and ankle) like the feeling you get if you put ice on a bodypart or you've been hit with a blunt instrument. This happens if the weather is cold or I've been out running, but it also happens if I haven't done anything. I had xrays done on my knees and there weren't anything wrong with them a few years ago. any ideas? thanks
chronic pain and the painful stigma attached? I suffer from chronic knee pain due to a birth defect. I also suffer from migraines which makes it hard to treat the pain. When I seek treatment through my pain protocol i feel like everyone sees me as a drug addict. I have slipped into a deep depression from all of this, how do I cope with chronic pain and the depression it involves?
I'm having chronic knee pain. Can your big toe cause this problem? Alignment issue? I have orthotics.? -I worry it's going to blow -painful for months now -dr said i need to develop my quad more? but that seems like a quick fix? might there be actual damage?

what is the best medicine for chronic knee and back pain I have never found pain medicine that takes care of my knees. I have found medicine that works on my back, but is there something that i could suggest to the doctor that would help both?
What is this chronic unknown knee pain I've had for 6 weeks now? Back on August 1st, I was doing some jogging while out of town when this unbearable pain just came upon my left knee. I usually only use an elliptical machine but I was out of town so I had to jog. I can't exactly describe what the pain was like; sort of a sharp, grinding, stinging pain. But the area of pain was right on top of the patella and than up about an inch as well. After this, I stopped all my cardio exercising. I saw a doctor who said it was something like patella femoral syndrome. Recently I saw a physical therapist who gave me a stretching exercise for my hip flexor, saying that I just need to strengthen that muscle. But now, after I do this, the pain subsides, but than it travels down to the bottom of the patella and will gradually come back up to the top of the patella. Can anyone give me e any insight as to what is going on? It hurts my knee every time I try and flex my quad and even the simple act of walking will bring pain to my knee. Like I said, I don't do any cardio and haven't since this happened, I've iced it, I've used anti inflammatory medicine, and have been using an ace bandage for a lot of the time. Please help me if you can. Thank you.
I have chronic severe knee pain and docters cant figure out what the problem is? About 6 months ago I hurt both my knees when I was climbing on top of my car and i heard a crack. Since then my life has been miserable in pain and mobility problems. I am a very active mom and I waitress for work. But I can barely get through the day because my knees are in soooo much pain. I wrap them verhy tight for me to feel stable but it doesn't work very long and I end up losing circulation and I have to take them off but when i do i feel wiggly and very loose with intense pain. My left knee is almost twice the size of my right one due to exreme swelling and bumps and bruising. I had an mri but it only came back with signs of extreme swelling?? How can something so obvious to the eye not come up on a very good test such as an mri. What s wrong with my knees??
What can I do for back hip and knee pain? I have been having chronic pain in my back, hip and knees. I'm taking Ibprofen 800mg 3 times a day, but its not always helpful, I asked my doctor for something stronger and she said no, so I don't know what do do, I can't hardly sleep at night. I haven't been diagnosed but my doctor said I was at risk for otheioarthritis(sp) I will take the suggestion to see a chiropractor tho I'm not sure that will help with my knees, this is gross but it feels like shards of glass in there everytime I move it, the cartolage(sp) has broken up/worn away due to my knee caps not being where there suppose to be. and btw I love the suggestion for a long back and massage. That would be awesome, althought I don't know anyone that friendly right now lol
I have had chronic leg and knee pain, ever since I had radiation to my pelvic area. Any answers? since then, after the radiation, I have had 2 major surgerys to my lower body, abdomen, and rectal area. this pain in my legs, jumps back and forth, from one leg to the next, and almost always, ends up solely, in the left leg, and around the knee cap, above the knee, down in the calf of my leg, and the upper thigh. This pain wakes me at night, and unless I stay on pain meds, I cannot get thru a day to good. The doctors, do not know what is causing it, I have had scans, MRI, xrays, ect. Now , they are telling me, I must have Chronic Nerve damage, possible coming from the pevic area. They want to send me to a pain managemant clinc. I am not sure what a pain management clinic can do? This has been going on now for 2 years. anyone have any input, that may help me? Thanks in advance...... Munchkin
Chronic knee and foot pain? My knees hurt often and the arch of my feet do too. The pain is worse if I walk around in heels or barefoot. What could be the problem? I am 5'2 and 130 lbs. I'm 19 and I don't think I have arthritis.
No symptom: severe chronic knee pain? Blood tests, bone scan, x-ray, MRI and nine (9) doctors do not know what it is. Predisone did not work. Ibuprofen and Tylenol worked for about a year- now it does not work. Just started Aleve; it works well. The pain is inside one knee. On a scale of 1-10, it gradually goes to a 7. Teenager. There is no history of any sports (except gym) or accidents. Tests show nothing. There has been a scanogram, which showed a 1cm discrepency (1cm is in the normal range). The pain is in the center, inside the knee. The pain is not worst with any different position or movement, it is not worst in the morning or at night or anytime, there is pain all of the time, and it does not hinder any exercise (except is very difficult to preform any movement when in pain, like sitting straight). No mental problems (no depression, though it's wearing me out; during the points that I'm not on medicine, it gets to an indescribably amount of pain), and social/educational wise, I am an honors student who has close friends. I've seen a regular doctor, a sports medicine doctor, four (4) reumotologist, an ostiopathic doctor, a neurologist, and an othopedic surgan. Some theories (from doctors) include: hyperactive nerve, discrepency (ruled out), and refered pain to the knee from the hip (when you're under age nineteen [19] there's something with the brain not being fulling wired).
Is there a reason for my chronic knee pain or a solution for it? Recently, I've noticed that when getting out of vehicles, I pretty much always have extreme pain in my knees. If I am able to stretch out inside the vehicle it is usually absent, but when I am cramped up inside a small vehicle (which is very often; I am 14 and already stand 6'2", fortunately I won't grow any more, which is another story) and have to keep my knees bent I notice that I get extreme pain in my right knee. Then, when I get out and begin stretching out, there is a sharp increase in the pain in my right knee, though shortly after wards the pain dissipates altogether; however, in my left knee, once I stretch a bit I get an intense pain, which feels like it is in the center of the knee, and it lasts for quite a while before eventually disappearing altogether. Also, I notice that any time I have my right knee bent for a certain period of time the pain returns. Anyone know a way to prevent this or at least why it is happening?
why do i have this chronic knee pain? kk, so i have been having this chronic knee pain my entire life and it really hurts. i went to my doctor and she says its not normal for a 14 year old girl to have it, she said it wasn't growing pains. i was told to go to the orthopedist, i did. we are still working on the diagnoses. the pain is always on my right knee, it hurts on the front and back of my knee. when i walk my right foot turns out alittle bit and i don't know if my knee has anything to do with it. when i do any exercises my knee hurts more, there is no swelling. my mom bought me a knee brace and it helps a little. i love to cheer lead, i do a lot of cart wheels and handstand and back bends, but i stretch way before i practice. i was hoping you guys could tell me whats going on, or if i need surgery, if i do, how long will i stay in the hospital? will i need crutches? so as you can see i have no idea whats going on and if you do...can you explain with as much detail as possable .....thxs alot i hope you can help!!!!
Chronic knee pain in a 14 year old girl that has continued for several years.? I have had chronic knee pain for several years. It started out occuring only when i bent or unbent my knee, ran or jumped, or sat still for a long period of time. Now it is all the time. The pain is around my knee cap and hard to place and i can feel my kneecap moving sometimes when i am in athletics or ina bumpy car. What you you think is wrong?
What should I do when doctors give up trying to help with my chronic knee pain? Have been diagnosed with a degenerative knee problem that causes constant pain. Have seen multiple specialists and doctors all of which agree there is a problem, but do not know how to treat it. Now they have given up and said that I am too young for any pain treatment medications. Have tried injections, physical therapy and was told surgery would not fix it. What can I do to get them to help me?!?!?!? I have been to 5 different Dr's ranging from my primary care to an orthopedic surgeon, they have all agreed I have chronic pain and I have tried every over the counter medication, muscle rub, and wrap I could find and I cant get any relief. My doctors have put me on extra strength ibuprofin, Relafen,Gabapentin- a nerve med,Cymbalta, and a few other things such as restless leg syndrome meds, still no relief. I keep being told Im to young to be on pain medication but I dont feel thats fair. I know and understand I will never be pain free but its not right that I cant get upstsairs to use my bathroom without help, Im 24 yrs old, Im to young to hasve this many limitations if you ask me. What do I do???? I cant help feeling like Im being descriminated against because of my age.
what could be the cause of my chronic knee pain? I was in Taiwan last year walking and my knee started hurting. Since then it has not gotten better but worse. It is extremely stiff and achy especially when I wake up in the morning. Now my other knee has started with the same symptoms. I'm only 32, but very active. What could be the cause?
Chronic knee pain from running...help? 2 1/2 months ago, during XC season, my left knee began to hurt. The pain starts on the inside of my knee where the bones meet and then wraps around my patella and stops under the patellar tendon. There are no tender parts on the outside of my knee, but it doesn't necessarily feel internal either. While running, it hurts when I strike the ground and when I lift my leg up. It also hurts when I extend my leg (like you would to do the sitting hamstring stretch) and when I do the breaststroke (so much for cross training >.<). I took 2 full weeks off and then began running again but it still hurt, so I took 2 more weeks off and came back and it continued to hurt. My left leg is shorter than my right and slightly turned in, so that may have something to do with it (but I have played sports all my life and it has never caused any injuries) . I am seeing my PT soon, but I'm dieing to diagnose my 'phantom' knee pain.
What is causing my chronic knee pain? I am 23, fairly active and have been suffering from activity induced pain in my right knee for at least two years. I cannot recall when it began and haven't suffered any injuries that I can attribute it to. The outside of my right knee becomes extremely tender to touch and pressure and I will have a dull ache for hours after considerable activity. Stairs and ladders specifically will aggravate the condition. I have found relief from an elastic "ace" bandage worn when I work out or jog and that seems to prevent 90% of my pain but I am still concerned. Additionally, there is a bump about one inch above the top of the fibia that protrudes considerably more on this knee than my unaffected knee.
I am suffering from a chronic knee pain does anyone have suggestions on what may cause this? I am 19 yrs old suffering from chronic knee pain, I don't play much sports because of it. I started to feel it when I was 11 and every year it gets worse and now it is unbearable it affects my everyday life Just the other day I was standing waiting for the light to change so I can walk through the cross walk my knee was already hurting but just gave out and I fell to the ground and all I was doing was standing. I just can't take it anymore. All I want are some suggestions to what can cause this before I check myself into a hospital. PLEASE I JUST WANT SERIOUS RESPONSES ONLY THANK YOU
What is causing my Chronic knee pain? I'm not the most consistent runner, but recently i've been feeling out of shape so I decided to go for a jog. Quickly after about 2 miles I noticed my knee's started hurting really bad. It got so bad I stopped at 3 miles because i couldn't take the pain anymore. I decide not to run for about two weeks, and the pain slowly lessened but it still hurts when i walk up stairs and when I do really short sprints. I've never experienced this pain before, and before when I ran quite regularly its not like running is a new thing for me. By no means am I obese, Im 5' 8" 145lbs. I'm thinking about eventually seeing a doctor if the pain persists, but I just want to poke around first to see if their are any reasonable explanations.
I have chronic knee pain, any suggestions? I'm a 20 year old female. I have been having chronic knee pain for the last few weeks on my right knee. It only hurts when I stand up from sitting down, going up stairs or have it bent too long. The pain is mostly on the inside of my leg by my knee and under the knee cap it's self. I work at a vet clinic so I have to do a lot of hard work like kneeling on the ground to hold animals and such...And I live on the third story of an apartment. I have not been to the doctor's yet ( I try to stay away from there as much as possible) ha but does anyone have any suggestions that may help me with my knee pain. Anything would be great! (:
is chronic knee pain a viable condition to get medical marijuana in california? i have bad knees. no running, crawling, no climbing ladders, stairs are my enemy. anything other than simple sitting in a chair is very painfull. i received these injuries in the US army. i am now a disabled veteran because of my injurie, recieving my VA disability check each month. my local doctors here( florida) have tried prescriptions for all types of pain meds. anything short of opiates just does nothing. the pain is there everytime i bend either knee. i dont want to be addicted to opiates( although they worked great). ive read all bout this new medical marijuana deal going on in california. i have aqquired it personally myself, and it does work, would having chronic knee pain be a viable condition for this new deal in california?
chronic knee pain, no insurance, low income what to do? Im 21, m. in tx. Ive had chronic knee pain for over a year now. The pain that is pretty Intense when im on it alot, my job is very physical, and makes my knee pain worse. It hurts alot when my knee is at the angle when I drive. I went to a hospital and the doctor told me I had a knee Effusion, to stay off it and gave me anti-inflamatory pills. I moved out on my own and to make things work I have to have 2 jobs, working 65 hours a week. I took the pills, but the pain never went away. It still hurts allday everyday, I have a bulge on the outside of the knee. I have no insurance. My question is what are my options, I want to see a orthopedic doctor, and get a MRI but I have very little extra money. I make around 20,000 a year, but I owe alot in school loans, and recently a expensive fine. So what should I do. what are my options sometimes the pressure in my knee is unbearable. I need to do something. I just looked up insurance quotes. Who can afford 169 a month with a 2,500 deductible. I never get sick, I havent been to a doctor for anything other than my knee in about 7 years. Infact I dont even have a regular physician
NOT exaggerating. CHRONIC knee pain, worst pain in the world! what is wrong? Im REALLY angry. its bs that I have to feel this pain. this pain is so bad it should be put on killers whove killed innocent children as punishment, or osama bin laden. it LITERALLY feels like someone is taking an axe, knife, or 300 volt wire to my knee. I scream like HELL everytime it comes. today it came 5 times, it lasts for like 20 - 30 secs. or even 1 or 2 minutes. its completely random standing sitting laying dont matter. Im not over weight at all, and am only 19, and havent done anything strenuous with my legs what so ever. the funny thing is that before AND after my knee is COMPLETELY normal I can move any which way like the pain was never there. I imagine this is what it feels like to get shot 5 times in the knee, PLEASE someone tell me what this is or what to do! I would not wish this pain on my worst enemy.

chronic knee pain in healthy teenagers? Hi, for the last year I have been suffering from near constant knee pain. Last february I was diagnosed with tendonitis of the knee. Not only was it patellar, it was all three of the main tendons in my knee. I got it from over exerting myself when distance running. I was prescribed strong anti-inflamatories and put on crutches for over a month. After being taken off crutches, I continued to do the strengthening exercises that were recommended by the specialist I saw. It got better for a few months and I could run daily with no problem. Then in June I went running again and developed shin splints. once those subsided, the knee pain returned. I stopped running after that, and have continued to stretch and do the exercises. Despite my efforts, the pain is now in both knees (though it is worse in the originally injured one) and it is only increasing in severity. I am 17 years old and I cannot even stand or walk for extended periods of time now. I stopped running, I do the proper exercises, and I take mild anti-inflamatories. It is so severe at this point that it is greatly affecting my sleep and therein my school. If you understand why this is occurring in a teenager for so long despite fighting against it, please help me. In addition, it is pain whether I am motionless or moving.
I don't have a family doctor to manage my chronic knee pain and migraines and the doctors? that I have seen said I don't need to be on meds that I had been on in the past, mind you they are the only meds that helped me. Im fit to be tied and also on disability for my chronic pain. My depression had gotten ten times worse, I just cry all the time because I hurt so much. Is there any suggestions on how I can find a doc who will prescribe me my meds? Are the online pain management sources any good where you pay a fee to see the doc and they prescribe your meds? Any other suggestions on how to obtain a dr so I can get my life back? This is miserable and I often find myself thinking of death because I can't live this way. Help. I live in a small town and not many drs in the area or around me.
What Causes Chronic Shin/Knee Pain At A Young Age...etc..? .. I've always kinda wondered this..... >.< I've had chronic knee and shin pain since I was really young.. Like-- 6. =' / I'm 14 now, and still get chronic-pains each day/night ... Except, over the years, the pain has spread. When it first started [and it started at random, I wasn't injured or harmed in any way that would cause it to start], it was just my knee cap.. But now, its my knee cap, around my knee, and my entire lower-leg, pretty much.. But still mainly just the shin-bone and kneecap.. What could this possibly be caused by? ... How do I prevent it? ... And how do I get immediate pain-relief??? ... Ibuprofens are starting to not work anymore [even though I've only been taking them --about 3 or 4 times a week-- for around 2 years o_O .... I shouldn't be immuned THAT fast.. Though I have become immuned to medicines, caffeine and other things really shortly after starting on them/using them/drinking them] .. Thats another thing~ .... Why do I become immune to something after only taking it a few times? Medicines don't help me when I'm sick anymore.. I've only have about 3 or 4 Five-Day-Treatment doses of anti-biotics [UTI] and they started to not be as effective after the 2nd time taking them o_O;;; .............. Coffee hasn't made me energized [or any other form of caffeine] for years. [Ive been drinking coffee since I was 3] Ohhhh, and all my life, I've gotten a TON of UTI's for unexplainable reasons. Do you know why I keep getting them? [Thankfully, I haven't had one for around 4 or 5 months.... --I think.. I've had some days where I have pain "down there" all day as if I had a UTI, but it would fade within a day or 2.. [ I didn't mean to make this so long, but I figured I might as well get my answers for my questions/issues now, instead of waiting long periods of time to re-post another question, since it doesnt get answered that way.. >.> Please help me out with all my concerns.. MAINLY, I wanna know why I've had this severe shin/knee pain for about 8 years... Since a young aaaggggee..... BTW~ .. When I was about 8 ... I was in so much pain with my knees, that I couldn't even get off of the floor.. I was sitting there, legs spread out, leaning against my couch crying cuz I couldn't move.... o.o;
Chronic knee pain. Clicking knees.? I'm 14 and I have had chronic knee pain in both my knees for over a year now. My left is a little worse than my right knee. My knee hurts on a scale one to ten about a seven normaly. The always hurt. Even when resting. I've been ingured it or done anything to them they just started hurting more and more over time. They never have swelled before. They click almost always when I straighten them. I can't keep my knees bent for a long period of time. They give out every once and awhile. I went to my pediatrician a few months back and my doctors didn't make me walk or even roll up my jeans. he just asked me questions and told me it was osgood schlatters disease. Which to me doesn't make sense. Before i choose to do tennis I want to go to a orthopedic doctor but i haven't yet. Any one have any guess what this could be?
Chronic knee pain. no insurance. no income. student.? Hi guys, I suffered from chronic knee pain for around 2 years and still counting. I am a university student with tight financial condition. therefore, I haven't buy any medical insurance. I had tried NHS, but their efficiencies just pissed me off so badly. I waited for 3 whole months just to get my MRI back and it wasn't even accurate. So i was wondering how can I get discounted price for private medical treatments or what kind of insurance can I buy that will cover for existing conditions like mine. Any help/tips will greatly appreciated. I am an international student studying in UK by the way.
what is wrong with my knee? chronic pain? my knee has been bothering me for over a year now. i've been told by an athletic trainer that it is probably just patellar tendinitis.it hurts mainly when i walk up stairs, run, or bend my knees. it will start at the bottom and around the knee cap and move up until the pain is on my whole knee. it's a dull achy pain but every so often a strong overwhelming feeling will come on suddenly. nothing helps, ive tried icing and advil. what could it possibly be? tendinitis or something different? im very active as i am currently in track.

Chronic Knee pain in a teenager? I suffer from chronic knee pain. I am 16 years old (nearly 17) I have tried lots of things which are physiotherapy, exercise, ice, been visiting an exercise physiologist, visited a podiatrist and received orthotics. Found out that these orthotics didn't work, so got new orthotics. However I still get chronic knee pain. Currently I would say that it is 7.5/10. I am sick of this. hat can i do? The pain is quite sharp and constant. I have no been diagnosed with anything. I have had this since January 2010. The pain is on the inside of the knee and goes to underneath the kneecap. The physio taught me hoe to tap across the kneecap but it had no success Inu...yes please send me instructions
What medication could I be prescribed/recommended for chronic knee pain? (ligaments and arthritis)? Had surgery twice, and get a bit of pain in that knee. however, the other knee got mashed from the year of crutches, and now it gets a lot of pain, hard to walk on a lot. Just wondering what medication I can get? I'm only 16, so in 5 years my knees will be GONE.
Anyone know why I have chronic knee pain? Kay so... My knee hurts a lot, like to the point where it's almost unbearable. This happens every night, only at night, and when the pain comes, a bruise appears where it hurts. I sometimes get a fever when it starts hurting. I already went to the doctor to get tested (got an x-ray) and they never called me to tell me what was wrong; so I called the hospital and they said they found nothing. If it matters, bone troubles do run in my family.
Chronic knee pain in teen girl? I am a seventeen year old girl who has had knee pain for 9 years now. I have been to multiple physicians and nothing ever helps. Every time I go I am told to go to PT and take anti-inflammatory drugs. I had a scope 5 years ago on my right knee and they cleaned up the joint and removed a bunch of fluids. They found a small crack in the back of my kneecap from a previous fall years before. The scope seemed to help for a few months and then everything went downhill again and both knees began to hurt. This is just after I hit my growth spurt. About two years ago I got a cortisone injection in my right knee and I had an "allergic" reaction. After that they pulled me from sports and I haven't been able to do much sense. My knees are gradually getting worse and nothing is really helping. Sometimes taping and bracing works, but sometimes it just my knee even more uncomfortable. I am sick of going to the doctor and just being told to go to physical therapy and take meds. It hasn't done anything for the past 5 years and no one has even really told me what it is, although I think it is probably chondromalacia. The pain in mainly in the front of my knee, but occasionally wraps around to the back. Running and jumping makes it worse, and even walking for long periods of time. I am running out of things to try. Are there any suggestions on what to try or do? I can't do some of the things I love anymore because of my stupid knees. If I go to the doctor again I'm afraid it is just going to be PT again..
