What exercises should I be doing for lower back pain? I've got REALLY severe lower back pain, can barely move. Taking a concoction of strong pain killers plus diazepam to reduce the muscle spasm, but although it's helping a bit it's still very painful. Anyone know what kind of physiotherapy type exercises are recommended for lower back pain?
Any exercises or other ideas for back pain? I was involved in a car accident about two years ago. Since then I've had terrible back pain on and off. Some days I don't want to get out of bed. Over the counter pain relievers don't do much for it. I can't afford professional help. Any ideas for exercises or other tips to relieve some of this pain? I'm in my late 20s with bad knees.
Stretches or exercises that help back pain? There is a constant pinch halfway up my back (a few inches below my left shoulderblade) which I attribute to hours of band practice with a sousaphone on. I always stretch and warm up every day before I ever put it on. I don't doubt that the first thing that falters when marching for so long is my posture and I suppose that contributes to my back problem. What else can I do to help ease the pain in my back, and prevent this from happening in the future?
Gentle exercises for lower back pain? I have spent most of the last 9 days in bed with severe back pain (totally unable to get up). My GP finally gave me a Voltarol injection and Voltarol Gel Pads. I am now up out of bed and hobbling about with the aid of a walking stick. This has been a recurring problem, for over 30 years, but X-Rays reveal nothing wrong with my back - despite the fleshy lump on the base of my spine. Does anyone know any really gentle exercises that I could try to help me get moving again?
I have lower back pain. Are there any exercises that I should avoid? I do the treadmill for 30 min, and the stair climber for 20 min, and sometimes the elliptic trainer. I also do weight circuit. I am just wondering if there are things that I really need to avoid. Ohh, I have been to the Doc, 3 times. Its not like I am in pain 24-7. Mostly when I lay down and than get up. Never when I am exercising or sitting.
Exercises or other tricks to reduce lower back pain? I've been struggling lately with lower back pain, whenever I stand up for any period of time (10 minutes plus), and especially when I walk. I think maybe I've strained the muscles in my lower back, however I cannot simply just stop doing my job which involves a lot of bending over (hold the puns please :P)... so how do I reduce lower back pain through treatment or exercise? :)
Abdominal and cardio exercises for person with bad back and neck pain and sciatica? What exercises would you recommend to get me started. Old injuries to neck and back have progressed to the point where the pain is constant i.e. sleep sitting up and with heat and massage 16-20 hrs per day to maintain functionality. even still, need help sometimes getting up and about. Im gunshy about exercise because one wrong step can aggravate injury even more. Have always been an athlete, basketball player mainly, a gym rat. But the injuries combined with sitting alot have my midsection spreading and feeling weak. Tried to run / walk on track on sunday and shoot a little hoops. Each step seemed to press the lower back discs together more with pain. Also old knee injury from ball makes running painful. 3 days later i can hardly walk. I know extra weight is making pain and quality of life worse. About 75 extra pounds now. I need exercise thats low impact, wont hurt back, knee or neck, will strengthen back muscles and really! work on reducing mid-section spread? hmmmm... I cant swim now, only float on back.

Chiropractor told me looking at xray's. Can you recommend me good stretching exercises to heal the pinched nerve and ease the pain and flex the muscles.. If i do upper body exercises, like chest... will it still put weight on the lower back hurting it??
Has anyone decreased their chronic back pain through exercise? I only want to hear from people who have tried exercise as a treatment for chronic back pain. Did it work for you? Do you do cardio, weights or both? Which back-specific exercises helped? I need some motivation to start exercising but I don't want to start unless I know it's going to help.
BACK PAIN....Stretching exercises for Back Muscles? I slept on a soft bed for a week and somehow made my latissimus dorsi muscles strained which in turn has made quite a bit of pain in my back and into my left leg, prob the sciatic nerve......I am looking for some stretching and strengthening exercises......thanks

Exercises to relieve lower back pain? History of lower back pain in the lumbar region after falling 8 feet off an obstacle directly onto my lower back when in the military. Developed minor scoliosis as a result. Anyone know exercises that will specifically work the muscles in the lumbar region of your back that can be done at home? I know of some to do at the gym but it would be nice to have something I can do at home so I can just do them throughout the day.
what kind of of medicines or exercises do you suggest for lowering back pain? my wife is 30,working as Ob/Gyn resident (hard work),her back and neck pain started 1 years ago,and now adays is gone interferes with her routine life ,she has pains and some tender points over her spinous processes of her spines usually starts in the evening after just a few hours sitting or standing,she has thorasic outlet syndrom stablished with EMG/NCV but had negative inflammatory markers like CRP,ESR,HLA B27,RF and ...,she has just done MRI of her spines but there were no abnormality ,she is 156 cm ,58 kg.
Constant Back pain and Exercises? Hey, I make video games for a living, and needless to say, I spend a lot of time in an office chair. I am in pain because 2 years ago 2 separate incidents hurt my back. The first one I was hit very hard playing football, and the second one I was hit by a Tilt-a-Wirl car at my old job, (It's funny, I know, but it hurt like hell) What I want to know is there any exercises I can do after sitting in my chair for 2 hrs straight. After heavy exercise, Is pain in the back of the head a sign of high blood pressure? After doing a heavy cardo workout (running 5 miles), I get a bad headache in the back of my head. It occurs more or less an hour after the exercise. The pain is located in the upper neck and brain stem area. In the past I believed it was dehydration, but after talking to some people they said it could possibly be a sign of high blood pressure. It does not occur everytime I exercise, but then it does it is very nerve racking. If you guys have any info, I would like to hear it. THanx

Is it normal to get really bad eye pain after doing eye exercises? I do eye exercises every night and lately I've been getting really bad pain behind my eye. It feels like it's on the nerve that connects our eye... Should I stop doing the exercises? Am I using to much stress? Is this normal? These eye exercises are what has kept my perscription the same for the past 2yrs, if I stop, it will get worse which means I'm all that nearer to legal blindness.

What are some good exercises to help with back pain between the shoulder blades? I've had pain off and on in the area of my middle upper back between my shoulder blades for a while now...what are the best exercises to do to help strengthen that area of the back to make it less susceptible to repeat injury? Part of the problem I think is the fact that I've been told I have some scoliosis in my spine which must make me favour a certain side during cardio/lifting, causing the pain.

my lower back pain exercises? i have this lower back pain and i went to the doc and got xrays and all that. and i was told it was because i have more of a natural curvature of my spine not scoliosis, but its caused me to have pain when i stand or walk for too long, and i was just wondering if there was a specific term for this. and i was also wondering if anyone new of exercises i could do to help with the pain cause its taking forever for the physical therapy stuff to start.
Exercises for the lower back pain? I started having some lower back problems a couple of weeks ago and want to know of any exercises for the lower back and lower abs, it seems when the back is bothering me, tightening the lower abs eases the pain, so if I could build those up I think it would help.
Back pain? I've been having pains at the base of my spine and to the right of the bottom of my back. I went to the doc and he did some tests (one where I had to pull both hands whilst he hit my knee) and he told me my back was weak. He told me to do some back strengthening exercises (which I've forgotten how to do) and come back in a month. Right now it hurts. A few months back, whilst lying down, I had really sharp pains there, unbearable. Then it went away. Could it be that I was doing situps wrong? In PE, the teacher said that you only have to go up to 45 degree, if you go past 90, then your back starts working.

What lower back exercise help back pain? I have F cup breasticles and I play roller derby. I find that if I skate for more than 7 or 8 minutes I get really bad back pain and once it comes, even if I stretch out best I can as soon I go back onto the track within a minute or two its hurting again. I am a big girl, and am losing weight to become a better athelete. But whilst I still got these I need some kind of stretch advise to help? Any reccomendations?
Exercises for back pain caused by large breasts? I go from being about 23 inches around my waist to 34.5 inches around my breasts, without a bra. I am a size 32D or 30DD depending on the bra itself. So not too huge, but big enough that my small frame feels them. I feel great when I'm wearing a good bra or sports bra; I own a few very good bras which I replace regularly and take great care of, and I'm glad for what they do for me, but I want sometimes to go without a bra around my house and such. The problem is, whenever I do this for a long amount of time, I get back pain. I am wondering what exercises I can do to strengthen my shoulders and upper/lower back so I can stand up straighter and go braless without feeling uncomfortable. Does anyone out there have exercises that they've had good luck with that can help me before I end up with back problems for life? I'm only 20; I'm very active and I eat very well, so I'm certainly not overweight; it's just the way my body is. I'm 5'6'' and 105 lbs, so I'd really rather not lose any body fat if I can help it, so I'm looking for strengthening rather than weight loss.

Large breasts causing back pain - exercises help? I'm the mother of a new baby daughter. I've been breastfeeding her as normal. However, she's been weaned for the last 3 months, and my breasts still haven't gone back to their normal size. I don't know why this has happened this time. She's not my first child, and my breasts went back to normal before. The problem is that the back pain is getting too bad to bear - the ache is almost constant. Abdominal exercises cause lower back pain?
