Any advice or information on epidural injections for back pain relief? I have a herniated disc between my L5 and S1 vertebrae, and sciatica...my Dr. wants to give me a series of epidural injections for pain relief. I never had back pian, except for during "that time of the month", I'm not a small girl, I'm 5'11 and weigh almost 200 pounds, my BF and I went swimming, and decided it would be fun to do some cannonball dives into the pool...sounds fun right, The pool was only 5 feet deep, and I had a running start, jumped, and smacked my butt on the bottom of the pool hard!!! I was in extreme pain at the time of impact, then it faded, but came back with a vengance the very next day...I went to urgent care, the did an x-ray, found nothing, and tried to tell me it was just a muscle spasm...the pain grew & continues to grow more severe on a daily basis, I kept going to Drs, the kept telling me there was nothing really wrong with me & sent to me tio physical therapy...that did not work...One day, at work, I nearly collapsed because the pain got so bad...I went to the ER, and they gave me a pelvic exam! (DUH). Nothing wrong there!!! It took a year for me to save up for an MRI, and voila! There it was! I manage a women's clothing store, and my work is very physically demanding, wich has only made the injury worse!!! I am in constant pain & I'm getting soooo sick of having to take pain meds, when half the time, they don't help anyway....

Back pain relief from heavy backpacks? My bookbag is always too heavy and it has been that way since elementary school. I pack correctly, use both shoulder straps (and they are quite wide), and I only bring home what I need. Still, my bookbag weighs 30-50 lbs. I go to the chiropractor a lot but of course it's only temporary. My back is always way out of alignment when I go and I've already had problems with hurting myself by just bending over (without the bookbag). I don't want to be humpbacked by the time I start college. Is there anything I can do for more permanent relief? Do you have a good relief for back pain? I hurt my back when I was sixteen (three years ago) at my first job (had to lift things, wasn't given any training etc) and instead of getting better it is now far worse. Are inverted tables for back pain relief safe if one had laser LASIK surgery one year ago? Hi there! I have seen a programme on inverted tables for back relief. It seems that 15 min are recommended vertically once you have got used to it and I have checked a website that it mentions that its counterproductive if you have retina problems, conjuntivitis or high blood pressure. I am 31 and I had eye surgery one year ago for short sightedness and stigmatism. After one year, they said my eyes are fine, eye pressure is fine and that the retina test just showed rugged vessels towards the back of the eye, which according to another oftalmologist (not this one) needs to be watched. Just wondering if a maximum of 4-5min a day before going to bed, and not 15 min twice a day as it´s recommended, would be good enough for my eyes and for relieving my cervical, dorsal and lumbar pain as a result of bad posture and tight quadriceps and hip muscles! Back Pain Relief? HELP!? Hi, my mom has had lower back pain for about 20 years. She's gone through everything, including acupuncture and seeing a chiropractor/specialists... they make her take some meds, but there is still some pain. She's lately tried using a new method of back pain relief by getting someone to lightly hit her back with the bottom of the hands (i.e. the bottom part of the hand when you're doing the thumbs-up sign). Supposedly, this gives pain relief for a while... but what I'm concerned about is if it will make things WORSE in the long-run. For example, will doing this permanently damage the back muscles/spine, etc. Can I get some feedback on this 'method' ? She developed chronic back pain during pregnancy... And no, she hasn't had anything surgical/injected... And please focus about this method too! thanks!
chronic back pain relief? im 19 and i have had chronic back pain for 3 years now and its getting worse all the time. im constantly weak and my hips and knees also hurt a lot especially when im walking around and going up stairs etc. i have to take tramadol, co codermol 30/500 and diclofenac sodium at the maximum dosage every day and they make me really sick i have been through both physio and hydrotherapy and its done nothing for me...even made it worse and when i went to see the rhumatologist she sent me back to physio. she said that she thinks that my spine at the bottom is more curved than it should be. She doesnt want me to have pain killing injections because they only offer short term relief my bloods were normal, as was my mri scan is there anything else i can try to help ease the pain?
Lower back pain relief? My husband has lower back pain that starts in his lower back where his pants sit and go into his buttocks and down his legs. He has been seeing a chiropractor for temporary relief. He has taken vicadin, tremodol, ibuprofren etc. Nothing seems to phase him. He is so stubborn and doesnt want to go to a doctor. I have been having back pain for the last 6years i have attended physio but there is no improvement so i stop the physio.Now the only way i manage to relief the pain is by placing abottle of warm water in the affected area which is the spine.Sometimes i'ts so painful that i can't bend.The doctors don't know what's the prpbles is.They say it's my height since am 6 fit tall.Pliz help?

What's the best pain relief thing for back/rib bruising? I hurt my back 2 days ago due to blanking and falling down the stairs and last week I blanked and fell flat on my back without bending of my knees as I have epilepsy. Not been to hospital as I know I can care for myself at home... However my back is killing me! The pain is disabling me from doing things.
