What does a pinched nerve feel like? I have terrible lower body pain that starts in my lower back and radiates down my legs....I had an x-ray that showed nothing. I think it feels like a pinched nerve but i've never had one so I dont really know. It kind of feels like my body needs to be pulled apart..I know that doesnt really make sense. Can anybody give me any ideas on what this could be?? And also, what is the treatment? Will it go away on its own?
what does a pinched nerve feel like? i get these pains sort of frequently, where i get a really sharp pain in my back when i turn a certain way or breathe in deep. they normally go away after a day or so. i started feeling it in my upper back/neck yesterday afternoon and its just now going away. is this a pinched nerve? what can i do about them since i get them so often? what starts them? could they be triggered by horseback riding? thanks for your help
How does a pinched nerve pain feel like? Can somebody who has had a slipped disc pressing on a nerve describe the pain? And the radiation to a leg- how exactly does it feel? Is it painful only in one area of the buttock? Does the muscles also hurt? Did you have muscles contractions? Anybody could help please? And what did you do? thank you
Does anyone know what a pinched nerve feels like? And if you do what can be done for it? The pain starts in my upper back and goes down my right arm. It gets worse when i have to lift things allot. And it hurts the most at my shoulder, elbow and wrist. I loath going to the doctor just to have them give me a prescription for a pain killer and get sent home (and charged a few hundred dollars) It seems it be more cronic than a pulled muscle, it's been an on and off thing for about a year now.
What does a pinched nerve in the neck feel like? My chiropractor thinks I that I get a pinched nerve in my neck when I move my neck through certain motions. I have pain in my right pinkie and ring finger when I close my hand. If the nerve was involved wouldn't it hurt (all the time) regardless of whatever I was doing with my hand?
Possible Pinched Nerve in wrist? I was marching in a parade and I was holding my horn in trail at the side, my wrist cracked and I felt a terrible pain jolt into my hand and arm and my thumb went numb. Now I can feel my thumb but sometimes when I bend my wrist I get sharp pains and my thumb feels tingly. I don't know what a pinched nerve feels like but does it sound like one or what? How do I make it stop hurting? D:
What can I do for a pinched nerve in my collar bone? I have a pinched nerve and it feels like it's right under the left side of my collar bone. It only feels better when I lie down, but I don't really like lying around. Is there anything else I can do to alleviate the pain? Any suggestions would be really helpful, but this is extremely painful and it's going on three days now... Thanks!

Hi i posted a few weeks ago about lower back pain and you all were very helpful im now 28 weeks pregnant and the pain has changed i can hardly walk i thought it was my lower back but now its like a pinching nerve feeling near and around right side of my bum cheek. i find it hard to walk lay down and keeps me awake as i cant roll over side to side or when laying down put my legs together do you have any suggestions to what may be causing this pain please help. I have had previous soft tissue damage in my pelvis before but its more of an ache rather than this pinching feeling if that helps.

How can I get some relief from the constant, terrible pain caused by a pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder?!? Bad shoulders run in my family, but I think this issue also has something to do with my years as a waitress. Holding lots of weight straight up in the air put a lot of strain on my neck and shoulders. Now, every once in a while, I get what I assume is a pinched nerve. It feels like the issue might be in the base of my neck somewhere, but it affects my left shoulder terribly. Once the pain comes, it stays for days at a time. I can't sleep because no matter what position I'm in it seems to put pressure on my shoulder and makes the pain worse. I've been reduced to whining and whimpering to my husband about the pain at 4 in the morning... so sad. IBProufen seems to help a small amount. I've also got some response from ice packs. BUT IT'S NOT ENOUGH. I need a miracle. Some sports cream or some herbal rememdy, maybe? I'm getting desperate ) :
what is a pinch nerve/how does it feel and how can you stretch out pain from your leg? i went walking for a while yesterday. (..ok i admit it i was shopping in the mall for a few hours...) and i'm not exactly sure what a pinch nerve is..but i think i have one in my right leg.. it goes from behind my thigh (almost upto under my rear) down to the back part of my calf. it hurts..and i feel like i can't stretch it out..when i try to stretch my leg it only stretches the inside leg muscle. i took some advil to try to relieve the pain but i just want to know what kind of stretch i can do to maybe help stretch it out? and maybe i'm making a mistake calling it a pinch nerve, maybe someone could explain to me exactly what that is? we thought my dad had one a few years back because he had pain in his leg and started limping for about a week or so but it turned out to be brain cancer. i don't think i have brain cancer lol i'm not a hypochondriac (sp?). so i just want to clarify what it feels like and what it is as well. any information is appreciated. i hate when people do this but i always award best answer and rate well for any kind of helpful posts/information.
Do I have a pinched nerve after my Spinal Tap? I had a spinal tap done about 2 weeks ago (most painful thing I have ever experienced) and while doing the procedure he hit the nerve that went to my leg and also to my private man-part :) Anyhow after about 7 days of spinal headaches that were making me vomit everyday I now have what feels like a pinched nerve in my right leg, the same one that hurt during the spinal tap. So is this just part of the healing process or should I go back into the doc?
Need help, no insurance? I was in a car accident and have had problems with my neck and shoulder. What does a pinched nerve feel like and is there a way of a doctor finding it, because I don't have insurance or a lot of money to just troubleshoot with a dr. Thanks!
? Would a pinched nerve cause a headache accompanied by ...? ... disorientation (confusion/slurred speech) and drowsiness? (also occasional trembling/involuntary muscle reflexes). I cannot say that it is exactly a headache, it's more of a burning sensation not quite pain in the left hemisphere (side). The discomfort doesn't feel exactly like a migraine or headache, neither does it feel like a pinched nerve exactly ... how to describe without sounding ridiculous? .... like when you are submerged in a bath and the water is tepid so you turn on the faucet to add hot water ... the flow of the [hot] water streaming into the still tepid water. (is that understandable?) but not quite, it is more like a burning (not quite stinging) sensation .... accompanied by slight discomfort and disorientation and drowsiness. I am curious as to what the cause could be. A pinched nerve has been suggested, but would such a thing produce such symptomologies? I've had a pinched nerve before, and i've gotten headaches/migraines accompanied by the above things (in addition to light/noise sensitivity) but nothing like this. Any suggestions as to what could cause this? (And no, i am not replacing opinions herein with a Doctor's advice, that would be silly! I am simply curious. Thanks!) xoxo ? Oh! PS: I've had similar issues for a while now off/on etc ... and several years back i had to have a Catscan/MRI etc as to test for any noticable brain issues/trauma etc as in RE to seizures/strokes etc. This is what was suspected. Surprisingly, my brain was normal LOL. and nothing disasterously wrong was found; so no direct cause was ever assessed. Took seizure meds for a short while, and then stopped; i still have headaches similar since, from time to time. IF any of the above is helpful to you in formulating an opinion. Thanks!
my lower right back is in pain while having sex!!! feels like a pinched nerve help!!!!? while my husband and i had sex the otehr night, i noticed my lower right back felt like a nerve was picnhed...i didnt think any of it. im healthy and in shape. next day i go running, it was hurting, not like a pinched nerve thout, but it still hurt. well two days later we have sex again, its soo painful almost unbearable. specialyl when he goes harder. it felt like s nerve was being pinched...any explaination for this? its never happend to me before. i havne done anythign different at all. iv been really stressed at work, but thats it....but it feels like a nerve is being pinched really hard when we have sex....like i said almost unbearable...i even kinds yelped a little a few times it hurt so bad!!! what is it?
Deep breathing caused sudden sharp pain in lung/arm & back? I was doing some breathing excercises three nights ago, and I decided to try and inhale as deep as I possibly could. (I used to be a very strong competitive swimmer and almost had no limit to how much I could inhale). Well, about 3 minutes after I took this "way too much" breath, I got a sharp pain (kinda burning, more like a shot going into your lung), which initially felt like it was SOLELY in my lung.. not my back. (Hint, I know what a pulled muscle and a pinched nerve feel like. This was not that feeling.) I even had my boyfriend rub the area for a while. Now luck. So then I started getting this pain significantly worse when I inhaled all the way (even normal breathing.) I ended up not sleeping that night because I was restless about my shallow breathing I was having to be conscious about... 'not crossing the threshold into severe sharp pain'. The sharp pain I get from regular breathign has subsided, but when I try to take that deep breath again, it can be felt. My friend says maybe I popped a blood vessel in my lung? Has anybody else had this happen? Found a cause? Found a cure? Thanks much!
What's going on with my shoulder? Last night at ice hockey practice, our coach made us do this drill involving some sort of a mix between a front flip and a somersault. I guess a better description of it would be a forward roll, involving getting airborne but not landing on your feet. One time, I was slightly off and came down hard on my right shoulder. It hurt quite a bit at the time and shortly thereafter, but that's understandable. However, today I find it still in a dull, yet strong pain. I'm 99% sure it's not dislocated, as it appears to be in the joint and I can move it. There are no visible bruises. Certain positions and amounts of pressure on my shoulder cause considerable pain, almost like a pinched nerve feeling spread out over my shoulder. Does anyone have an idea as to what may be going on? Is it sprained (may be muscular); is the bone cracked (I'd hope not); or what is going on here? Could someone please help me figure out what I should do. Thank you very much.
I have a pinched nerve in my back, can you please HELP? Ive had a pinched nerve for two weeks, it feels like knife being pushed between my spinal bone. At times it feels like my viens is being pulled out of my arm, the pain hurts. I've had my back cracked, and twisted. I've read that it can last for months, I can hardly sleep. What can I do ?
hemroid hurts? I have had a hemroid for a couple years now.. it hasnt really bothered me up until this morning.. i woke up and noticed a pinched nerve kind of worm feeling (i know its gross) but thats what it feels like.. sporatically it will shoot this pain like a pinched nerve feeling or something.. what is going on? my mom said to just stick it back in my butt but that doesn't work. what do i take to get rid of this thing, it hurts!
Old injury causing problems, or out of shape? Lately I have been jumping more again. I have had a lot of time off... several months... since I don't have a horse right now and I'm currently looking for one. I have ridden/exercised my barn owners horses, but most of them are not jumping horses so it's all been on the flat. I rode in a lesson a couple weeks ago and popped over some low cross rails with no issues. Well, the other day I rode my sister's horse, and I was able to go over higher verticals on her (still nothing big though... just like 2'6''-3'). I kept getting this really tight, bone grinding feeling in my sternum/rib area. I *would* just assume that I'm out of shape from not jumping for so long, but it's not just a general muscle feeling... it's more localized on my lower left hand side of my rib cage. Well, last Halloween, I took an awful (non-horse related) fall... and I hurt my lower left ribs really bad. I didn't go to the hospital but I had a big black bruise that went all along my lower left rib cage and it curved up along my sternum some as well. I can't decide if I'm just paranoid and this is just me being out of shape, or if the rib issue from Halloween is coming back to bite me. So what do you think it is? I mean... if you have ever taken several months off of jumping and then return to it, did you have tightness in chest/rib area? Or is that not normal? It's like my bones are grinding together, and there is like a pinched nerve feeling. Zakiit - I slipped and fell down some stairs at a party. It didn't hurt initially, but it did the next day.. LOL. but I didn't cry!!! :D Foxhunter - Can a chiropractor work on my chest? LOL. I don't see how that would work. Although I've never been to a chiropractor so I don't think I could say for sure.
Does anyone have shoulder, elbow, and hand pain, but is not a pinched nerve in the neck? I have a herniated disc at c7 but not pinching any nerves, i still have a lot of problems in my right shoulder, like paining and in the elbow and my hand hurts and middle finger and thumb twitches, my hand is always freezing and color in purple, i seen the neurosergeon but he said he doesn't know so i now have to see the orthopedic surgeon again, just like to know what it could be it hurts and bothers me a lot, i feel like i am going crazy. please help
Pinched nerve? I was wondering, I have a what feels like a pinched nerve in my back. I am 6 months pregnant. Its killing me and i figure there is not much the doctor can do about it for me. But its a sharp pain in only one part of my back and my hip. Moms/moms2B Is this back pain normal? It feels like a pinched nerve.? I have been having what feels like a pinched nerve type pain on my lower right side of my back since around Dec, it was coming and going mostly after I woke up, but since the end of Jan it has stayed and I can hardly stand up straight sometimes let alone bear weight on my right side. I never had this with my other two pregnancies and to me it just feels like the baby is on a nerve or something, did anyone have this and will it go away? I plan to ask my Dr at the next appt I have, I am 26-27 weeks.
PLEASE HELP! I have a pinched nerve does anyone know a good chiropractor in dallas/carrollton/farmers branch? im 17 yrs old, male, 6"2' and 150lbs i used to workout pretty hard and i ran about 3.5miles mon-thurs. (sometimes friday) and i weightlifted a little too but anyways i stopped running for about 3 weeks then when i went back i tried running like i usually did and i guess my body wasn't used to it anymore or something when i finished running i felt fine but when i fell asleep and woke up the next morning i had (sorry for being so blunt but i have no other way to describe where i have the pain) a sharp pain on my left buttcheck (the side of it) i thought it was a muscle pain and that it would heal on it's own because it hurt a lot but i ahd already had a similar pain like it on my right cheek a while back but no this pain is different i have had it for about a month now it feels like they are pinching me on the inside of my body (IT HURTS SO BAD) eventhough i have had it for a month the pain was really bad then it calmed down for a while then on sunday it came back stronger than ever!!! i mean the pain is so deep and excruciating that i can't even walk (i think the pain has come back because of the climate change because it used to be pretty hot and now it's getting cold) anyway just going from a prone position to sitting and standing is a challenge so please help me it hurts so bad that even though the pain starts in my butt cheek (on the inside) i now feel it on the side of my leg (by the calf) and behind my knee and if i don't move my leg (left leg) every now and then my toes fall asleep i have already been to a chiropractor (helped for a week then the pain came back) i am taking hot baths with apple cider viegar because that's what she said to do and im putting on some biofreeze creme but none of that is helping please help me!!! yesterday the pain was so bad that i was about to pass out and i just took tylenol until the pain was bearable and sleeping is really hard too so if you have any advice please tell me thank you all!!!
Does this sound like a pinched nerve? Yesterday evening out of no where my arm started to hurt on the inside of my elbow. It feels like a shooting pain kinda like a needle. When I lift or pull things with my arm it hurts or even if I move my arm the wrong way I get the needle shooting pain.. My fingers feel kinda achy too.... Does this sound like a pinched nerve? If so what am I suppose to do? Massage it? Run to the ER? How long does it take for it to go away? If it doesn't sound like a pinched nerve does it sound like anything else? I am 26 if that matters. I dont really remember hurting my arm on anything.
Almost 34 wks pregnant, pinched nerve running down my left leg...? The pain starts at the top kind of in the side/toward the back of my left butt cheek and then shoots down a little past my knee...the worst part of the pain remains at the top, though. Comes and goes...has gotten worse/more frequent over the past week. Makes it hard to use the restroom because certain positions make it worse. :( I've never had a pinched nerve before...but this is more than just a leg cramp and it just -feels- like a pinched nerve...is it pregnancy related? it's not really in an area of the body that the baby could be directly affecting? What can I do to relieve the pain? I don't mean temporarily, it goes away on its own...i'm guessing i mean how do I get it to stop happening in the first place! and should I tell my OBGYN? I'm walking around a college campus all day and sometimes I honestly just have to stop in my tracks and brace myself while i wait for the pain to die down. I was almost in tears in the restroom today the pain was so bad....If I was at home I could simply lie down and wait it out...but I'm at school or work from 8:30-4:30 everyday...I don't know what to do?

What does popping in (rear) posterior deltoid mean? I have a popping sound and feeling in my posterior deltoid on my right arm whenever I perform backwards arm circles or rear lateral raises. I have also had what feels like a pinched nerve ever since this started. Is this a stability problem that can be fixed by working my posterior deltoid more?
How to tell if you have a pinched nerve? My elbows hurt something fierce when I bend them. Feels like there's a clamp on them. Does this sound like a pinched nerve? What do you to treat a pinched nerve? I am 23, and it hurts like hell. It is a very sharp pain.
Can a pinched nerve in neck heal itself? I think I have a pinched nerve in my neck, I have pain in the back of my head that feels like a headache, and I feel it mostly when I shake my head and look up. If its a pinched nerve what can I do and if I should go to a doctor. Additional info: I am 20 years old and had this feeling in my head for 4 days. Thank You
Lower back pain, possibly pinched nerve, what should i do? My back is very store. I feel like that i have a pinched nerve on my lower back. I can hardly move. I even cant go to Chiropractor because of my pain. My pain started Saturday after i was caryatid a heavy backpack, but today the pain is stronger. Please advise what can i do for an immediate relief. is there something i can do to help my pain at home.
Did you experience a pinched nerve during the 2nd half of your pregnancy? What did you do to alleviate pain? When I was pregnant (4 months on) I had an upper back pain. It always started right below my shoulder blades, on either side, and it felt like a radiating pain. It happened after 20 minutes of standing up, so groceries or any kind of outing was horrible for me. Sometimes I got the pain depending on what kind of chair I was sitting on. Has anyone experienced this? Was it pinched nerve? What did you do that helped it? I'm not planning on trying to getting pregnant again until later this year, but I just want to know what I can do to help in case it happens again. I was seeing a chiropractor at first, but then we moved so I stopped. And I was a little scared of getting adjusted once I got big. I guess I'll just have to make sure I go to my chiropractor regularly all through out my next pregnancy. Thanks.
i overdosed on panadol? about 2 hours ago I took 12 panadols. I wasnt n the right state of mind. Now ive got the worst headaches, like a nerve pinching feeling in my brain, Im really dizzy. Im really worried now, what should I do. what will happen if i dont go to the doctors?
Pinched nerve or...? I think because of the way I sleep I have been having problems with a nerve on the back of my neck. The nerve or whatever it is, is on the bone on my neck (i guess that would be my spine) and throughout sometimes it will just feel like a sharp pain radiating from that area, my neck is tense (i crack it a few times a day because of this but i can only crack my head to my left) a few times I actually got the feeling of what feels like a nerve moving over the bone. I dont know what it is but I was wondering if someone did, or know a good way to treat this.
What is treatment for a pinched nerve? My calf feels like theres a pinched nerve. I"m not sure. What's the treatment for a pinched nerve in the leg? I think I'll do at home treatment unless it gets worse or feels this way for a while. Thanks for your answers Oh so asking my husband to massage it, is a good thing? :) Wasn't expecting that but, no I don't feel it in my butt, but I do have some lower back pain. I do drink milk, probaly not enough though. Maybe try taking caluim pills? now swollen or discolored
How long does it take for a pinched nerve in a dog's neck to heal? I have a shih tzu who became very sick very suddenly. She could not stand, walk or even sit. She could not lift her head up and when she did she was turning it to the left. I took her to the vet a week ago Thursday. She was diagnosed with an ear infection. The doctor prescribed antibotics and steroids. She became worse and I took her back on Friday. She said that she was not sure what was wrong with her because it felt like her lymph nodes on the opposite side were swollen. She was arching her back and circling to the left. She said to keep giving her the antibotics. She became even sicker and was crying out in pain, could not walk, arched her back and her neck was twitching. I took her back on Wednesday and the vet said she had a pinched nerve. She prescribed a muscle relaxer. That did not help so I called the vet back on Thursday and she gave her a pain medication also. This has been going on for 8 days now. (blood work was done and x-rays were taken), The vet said it could take 2 weeks or longer for it to heal. On Friday she was still in a lot of pain and I called the vet back. She said that she really could not do anything else for her but refer her to Virginia Tech and have an MRI etc done. She said this is very expensive and no guarantees. She said that she was afraid of increasing the meds because she did not want to overdose her. Has anyone gone through is before? How long does it take for the meds to work and the pinched nerve to heal? I am afraid she will not get better and I will have to have her put to sleep. I have to hand feed her chicken and give her water with a dropper. Please help
What is a pinched nerve in neck supposed to feel like? Does it cause weakness in the forearm/arm/shoulder area? 3 weeks ago I carried some heavy bags (no big deal right?) After putting them down I felt a subtle tingle around my upper back shoulder blade area and then suddenly my arm got weak (like maybe a stroke?) and then it felt like it was going to get numb but didn't... it just felt strange and uncomfortable. A few days later my shoulder blade, shoulder and under armpit started to ache. It's been 3 weeks. I went to PT once and doing their exercises (shoulder roll, etc.) but I still feel the same... it's not getting worse but not getting better. Didn't get xrays or MRI yet, but is this indicative of a pinched nerve in my neck? Or something else? If it is a pinched nerve, when will I feel better? I must admit I never get to rest it. I drive and cook and clean and lift my children in and out of car seat and crib. Also, it seems to get aggravated after sleeping or sitting on the right side. I also have a medium case of TMJ on my right jaw... not sure if all related.
Need a Urologist to answer my ? So after 2 months of random pain, I went to the ER and was diagnosed w/ a 6mm kidney stone. Referred to a urologist, who placed a double J stent to relieve the mild to moderate right hydroureteronephrosis. A week after the stent was placed, I went for ESWL, but where the stones at they couldn't get to it. Everytime I ask the urologist a question, I get a neat little sketch of my kidney and the stone, but no answers. So now I have to travel 2 hours and try for internal laser break-up. So now I have all my records and these terms and not the right ability to research the answers. I'm miserable, in pain, and was not given any medications to help. I can't even sleep at night, and am not allowed to take ibuprofen since it's a blood thinner and they're not sure when I'll have the next attempt. Is it true that a second stent will be placed after the calculus is broke up? Will they remove the first stent or will I have 2 stents at once? (I can't even bend over without the pinched nerve feeling in my kidney, and pain in my bladder) How long after a stone is broke up does it take to pass, and what will my recovery be like? Will I be really sore, or feel it? I have 2 small children and don't get to rest like I should. I had a CT scan first without contrast, and they saw the stone clearly. When I went for xrays the morning of ESWL, they couldn't see the stone on the xrays, but found it w/ the machine in the OR. Does this mean the stone has moved down along the stent? Is it possible that the stone has moved without intense pain? Where is the right hemipelvis distal aspect of the uteral stent? What are filling defects and do they indicate anything dangerous? mesure 6x8mm and contrast passes this. I've also been told that it might be a local anasthethic as opposed to going completely out like when they placed the stent. This is not a spinal epidural type anastethic is it? I have a weird back(incidental finding of five lumbar vertebrae caudal to L5 that demonstrates SBO)and had issues getting anasthesia during my 2 cesarean deliveries. What's a UVJ? What is perinephric fat stranding and is it dangerous? What can I do to lessen the occurance of future stones? I don't drink soda, mostly water and iced tea. My child was born in december and and I have a baby apron of fat that hangs off my stomach due to it being a 2nd c-section. I've been losing the baby weight slowly, didn't realize that the reason I felt like crap and didn't want to exercise more was because of the stone and back up of toxins. Can anyone seriously answer my questions?
have pains in mt butt feels like pinched nerve hurts bad what can it be? i have had 4 c-sections and had endometriosis there for they had to numb my back over the last couple of years i have had butt pain but it feels like a piched nerve and they did treat me for it a couple of years ago just gave me a shot in the butt and told me it will go away well know it hurts really bad even when i just do a little house work sometimes i cant even walk or just feels like im about to break down what is this help!!sorry for any missed spelled words.
Recurring, inner-thigh pains? Feels like a pinched nerve, but worse? The pain feels like a sharp stabbing jolt through my leg - where I lose the ability to withstand any pressure on it (so, if I move it awkwardly while I'm walking, I collapse) - I would assume it's a pinched nerve, but, I've no pins and needles, no tingling sensations, and I don't exercise or do anything that could possibly injure my back. Plus, I have had a pinched nerve in my neck, and the pain wasn't anywhere near as bad as this. Anti-inflammatory pain relief doesn't work well either. History: 5 years ago I seen a doctor about it (I collapsed that morning from the pain - unable to walk on it) - and eventually had an x-ray of my pelvis and lower back - by that time though, the pains had passed. A few months later, I had the same sort of pain for about 6 hours- every time I tried to move my left leg in any other direction than back and forth (I can walk on it, but not twist it or point my toes) - it killed. This routine kept occurring 'til now~ which I've had the pain for about a week. I'm walking fine, but sitting down/getting up is a killer. Being in constant pain is starting to tick me off - Any ideas about what to do next? I've tried stretches (in case it's a muscle problem) - but it only brings on the pain which, I'm not too keen on. I've tried resting it - but I do have to move around. How long should I give it before seeing the doctor again? (I'm not too keen on seeing him, because he keeps telling me to go to Church)
What to do about pinched nerve? I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. I first had the problem 2 years ago and some how or another it went back to normal. This time though it literally feels like there's a left and right side to my back and I have to be on one side or the other. I can't exercise as any moving is extremely painful. It feels like my butt cheek is being ripped apart as well as half my leg. I don't have full control over some of the muscles in my leg either so I have a noticeable limp. I honestly don't know what to do... every doctor I've talked to just sends me out the door and doesn't even pretend to care.
Back Pain and now legs feel like Jelly? I'm asking for a family member. She fell and hurt her arm a couple months ago. Then threw her back out from having to do everything with one arm. Now, weeks later, her legs seem to be giving out easily. Is this a nerve problem? Pinched maybe? She's been to the doctor, orthopedist, chiropractor, and now they're sending her to a neurologist. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so, what was it and how was it corrected? I think her sugar is normal. She's never had any sugar problems that I know of. Because of her arm being hurt she twisted her back wrong shutting the car door weeks ago. Now her legs are weak and it's causing more problems. I'm hoping the Neurologist can help. I'm thinking nerve and/or disk too.
Pinched nerve in upper back? For the past 3 or 4 years, the area where my left shoulder blade is, the skin has been numb. Like I can feel the pressure of my finger pressing on it, but the top surface of skin is completely numb. I hope that makes sense. I'm assuming I have a pinched nerve? Anyways, for the past week or so, I've been feeling little pinches in that area, nothing too bad. But today I felt one of those pinches down my entire left side of my back, and it hurt REALLY bad. What does that mean?
Why does my kneecap hurt when I bend it? My kneecap only hurts when I bend it up to a certain point. It doesn't hurt when I straighten it and I can walk on it if I hold my leg straight and as long as it doesn't bend too much. I first noticed a slight pain in my knee when I got out of my car on my way to step practice. I put my foot on the ground and stood up, and I felt a pain in my kneecap that felt like pinched nerves. The pain went away as quickly as it came and so I ignored it and I practiced normally. Later on I started to notice that every time I bend down my knee hurt, but yesterday it got unbearable. I must say that I do not exercise very often. I walk a lot because I'm always on the go but other than that I only exercise maybe once a week. I have only been stepping for about a week because its for a special event, but I didn't expect this to hurt me because I would consider my legs as the strongest part of my body and because, when I do work out, I jog. I have looked up several explanations including one that is most similar to my symptoms, jumpers knee. But I'm not convinced because my knee doesn't hurt when straightened and jumpers knee seems to describe knee pain from bending and straightening. Jumpers knee also comes from jumping of course, but in stepping you mostly just stomp a lot. My step show comes up in a week and I really want to be able to participate. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with my knee and how to fix it in less than a week? So far I've just been using a heating pad wrapped around my knee and taking advil for inflammation.
how can i relieve a pinched nerve in my lower back? The pain is way down in my lower back - like beyond the spine and into my tailbone area. It definitely doesn't feel like a sore muscle issue, so all I can assume is that it's a pinched nerve - but it doesn't really radiate into my legs at all. It's more across my back and hips.. It hurts BAD! No sitting, standing, or laying position helps the pain (so obviously I didn't sleep well last night!)...and if I move certain ways (a lot of ways) the pain "bites" very sharply and I have to stop moving for a second. I have no idea what to do or how this happened, but I can't make it through a full day like this! Is there anything I can do to help it go away???
What do I have to submit for a settlement with the insurance company? I was a passenger in a car accident a week ago and we got rear ended. I declined being taken in the ambulance at the time, but the next day I went to my doctor. They said I had muscle spasms in my neck and back. I still have these pains and I am going for a follow up appointment in the next couple days because I think I have a pinched nerve since every movement I make feels like a sharp pain in the middle of my back. The guy who hit us, his insurance already contacted me and said I have 2 years to file for settlement. The driver of the car I was in hired a lawyer because his injuries are much worse. Besides that, I am a full time student enrolled in accelerated classes and I missed 2 classes, and upon impact of the accident, the inertia threw everything I had all over the car and as a result of that I cannot find my keys to my work. I work in a bank and I have keys to the vault, and now they are lost. We cleaned out the whole car and cannot find them. My question is, what do I send their insurance company? I will have medical bills, but I have health insurance so wouldn't my health insurance cover it? Also on top of that, the doctor that I visit is where my mother works as a nurse, so they draw up the bills but don't actually bill me so it never gets sent to my health insurance company. Also as far as pain and suffering, how do you document and justify that? I missed 2 classes(they are accelerated so they only meet 8 times, so I missed 1/4 of them) and being that I work at a bank as a teller I am required to constantly stand up. I have worked 3 days since the accident and I definately can feel the stress that standing and moving around puts on my back. In order to go to the doctor, I would have to miss more classes because the days I don't work I go to class, and since I can't miss work, I am forced to miss my classes in order to get a doctor appointment. Even if I wanted to. it would be hard for me to take off work because my branch is small, and on top of that they let two people go in the last month so we are short staffed as it is. Besides work, in general any movement gives me a sharp pain in my back. So, bending down, reaching, standing, walking, and everyday things that I never really paid attention to before make me feel very uncomfortable pain. I don't know where to go with this, but I think that I should be entitled to claiming something since my lifestyle seems to be prolonging the pain I am experiencing. I am asking these questions from the idea of me dealing directly with the insurance company without any lawyers involved. I can go along with the lawyer that the driver of the car I was in hired, but I would prefer not to go the legal route because I didn't think it was worth it. So unless it seems necessary I do not want to see a lawyer.
my neck hurts what could this be? my neck hurts well the left side hurts when i put my chin to my chest the left side hurts. my throat really hurts. when i turn my head to the left it feels like i pinched a nerve it hurts so bad but yesterday it felt different when i turned it to the left it hurt more then it does today but nothing else hurt. i dont know what this is. do you know?
Prelabour signs - what should I look for? I am currently 39 weeks with my 3rd. In my previous pregnancies I didn't suffer any sort of prelabour signs. Both labours came on very suddenly, and full on. I am just wondering what sort of signs you had that you were in prelabour? I have been suffering with a lot of thigh/groin cramping. It almost feels like a pinched nerve. I have also been having very painful Braxton Hicks across the top of my stomach and lower stomach area. Also, both of my previous labours have been full back labours so I have never had a stomach contraction and was just wondering what they feel like. Where do they start. upper or lower stomach? Do they radiate down the stomach or just cause the whole stomach to contract at once? Thanks! With my first my waters broke an hour before I had a contraction With my second my waters didnt break until her head was crowning......
What to use for pulled muscle? Several years ago I though I had injured my right arm (rotator cup) but only bruised it. I have lost some resistance in it and am careful I don't strain it, however, it happens. I fell a few weeks ago but don't think I reinjured it, however, since that time, I have had pain from the back of my head down to the middle right side of my shoulder/lower back and down the right arm. It feels like someone is standing behind me with their fist in my shoulder blade pushing in. I have been taking Ibuprofen and then Aleve, but can't tell one is better than the other. I am a 64 year old female and have wished for a massage around my shoulders, neck etc thinking it could be a pulled muscle or pinched nerve. Would that be a good idea or what does anyone recommend.
pinched nerve in left side of the hip? im 20 years old and i just woke up in horrible pain, when i move my left leg its like a pinching feeling right in my hip... i tried walking to the bathroom and started crying in pain. im now sitting here on my couch and my hip hurts like hell, but only on the left side... not on the outside or anything, but more like inside... what can i do to get rid of this pain without having to go see a doctor??is there a special way i can stretch or something??? like when you have a pinched nerve in your neck you can stretch a certain way and it usually goes away....is there something like this for my hip too??? and if it matters, im 7 weeks pregnant.... i didnt do anything yesterday, because im pretty much knocked out most of the time... im taking progesterone which makes me sleep 90% of the day... and im not allowed to lift anything or do much... all i did yesterday was one load of laundry, but that was it!
What does a pinched nerve feel like? I mean I think I know it's probably painful, but I have this weird sensation on the back of my neck. It just started today, and it's in the back of my neck just below where the top of your head starts to curve down into your neck (Like it's under my hair) It almost hurts to touch the skin even... It feels kind of like a bruise on the surface but if I turn my head kind of up and to the left i can feel a muscle pull. If I pull my hair, like you would doing a low ponytail, it feels sore at the skin though, but there's nothing there like a bruise or bump or rash or anything. Anyone experienced this?
Why does my crease in my leg/upper hip burn/sting/and become numb when trying to sleep. Feels like pinch nerve? Can someone please tell me what this is and what i do about fixing it. I just hope that i don't have to have some kind of surgery. Some mornings, i wake up fine and then sometimes in my sleep, i have to roll over and when i lift the opposite leg, it is unbearable pain. It is almost like a burning sensation/sting. Hurts really bad. For some reason, i believe that i had this happen in the past, but it healed and never had anymore problems with it. Did this happen because of the way i slept? I just don't know what is going on.
What does a pinched nerve feel like? My pain started maybe 4-5 weeks ago. It was a spot on the left side of my neck. On the back side but not on the spine. Almost at the base of the neck near upper back/shoulders. It felt like someone was taking a pin or long thing rod and just jamming it on the same spot. Sharp pain. I've been under a great deal of stress and thought it was related to that. I have a friend who does massage work and he worked my neck and upper back to help release any tension in the area. It slowly went away. Now 3 days ago it started again as a dull ache. Last night it became intense. Same spot but really sharp pain. If I don't move the neck area its just there as low dull ache but the moment I drop my shoulder or turn my head it spikes the pain. I've been rubbing the area gently and since my hands are cold it helps a little. I've been using bio freeze (like icy hot) to see if that helps but I'm worried about the root cause. I don't have medical insurance from my employer and can't get my own policy because of preexisting conditions. What is really said is I make 30k a year. That is not middle class, does not not earn me enough to pay my living expenses, student loan, car, etc. but is not poor enough for any state or federal assistance. It is frustrating to need the assistance and pay for it in my taxes but the moment I need the help I don't qualify for any. Right now the $60-$80 bucks for just a regular doctor is not something I have when I'm paying out of pocket for medications already. I don't want to think how much a specialist might cost. So what does a pinched nerve feel like? I haven't done any activity that jars my neck to cause injury and this went away only to return. I've started to do some neck stretches in case it is just tight muscles in that area. Any suggestions or explanations on pinched nerves is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Back Pain After Epideral? Since I had my daughter 15 months ago I have been having some back issues. It's always on my right side and it feels like a pinched nerve which occurs once every month or every other month. It lasts for about a week and during which it hurts to sit, stand, lie down (i usually have to sleep sitting upright on the couch) or just about anything. Does this sound like this could be a cause from the epideral? And if so what should I do? Thank you everybody for all of your help!
I have found alot of lumps in my body.. help please? Ok, so about 4 years ago i found a lump under my armpit on the right side of my body, its about the size of a gulf Ball, then about 1 year ago, i found a lump under my neck, then about 2-3 months ago i found another hard rock solid lump on the right side of my ribs. then about 1-2 months ago i found 2 lumps in my neck, the ones in my neck feel like they can move. o and i found a lump 2 weeks ago in my left arm, but it appeared after i was done working out at gym, in my school. i told my nurse about it she said it looks like a pinched nerve. when i touch it, nothing is under it. Today, about 1 hour ago, i found a lump in my testicles. its in the Sac, and its on the right side, im only 15, im very scared and shaky. Iim very very very very scared. Please answer seriously.
Does this sound like nerve damage/pinched nerve? What to expect at the doctor? I've had some pain in my left forearm for the past few months. Nothing to horrible, it kind of just felt like muscle spasms (like when your arm is asleep or something) and sometimes a dull ache. It would come and go, usually a couple times a week, lasting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. It was NOT continuous pain. Lately it's been worse. For the past two days, I've been getting tingly feeling in my upper arm, not in my forearm and not in my shoulder, just the upper arm on the outside. Earlier today, that tingly feeling spread to my cheek and jaw. And I have been having the same regular forearm pain. The tingliness feels exactly like when you get dental work done and they numb your mouth and then it starts coming back to life. That's what it feels like. It's come and gone all day. This has really freaked me out, especially because it's on the left side of my body. I keep thinking I'm having a heart attack or a stroke or something. That's not possible.. right?! :// Anyway, I'm definitely making a doctor's appointment tomorrow. No more putting it off. I haven't been to the doctor in many years, so I'm very, very nervous. Any idea on what they will do? Can you walk me through the whole thing? I'm just very nervous about it. I'm seriously shaking right now just thinking about it. I know it's ridiculous. I'm a 19 year old female. I have no health problems other than being overweight. I have recently began to exercise regularly, and most recently doing a little weight lifting. Could I have damaged a nerve doing that? Thanks for any advice! :)
What helps a pinched nerve? The last few morning I have been waking up with extreme quite painful tingling from my fingertips all the way up my arms. First morning it was both arms and I thought maybe I just slept on them funny so I sat up and moved my arms around trying to get the blood flowing back in them. It went away but my right hand remained abit tingly and it was SO painful to even make a fist or grab on to something. The next morning it was just my right hand all the way up to my arm that had the tingling again. Tingling went away but my right hand remained in pain (like muscle or bone pain maybe) and my wrist even hurt a little as well throughout the day. Right now I was just laying in bed and I could feel tingling start in my left thumb and has now mae its way up my arm. Now that ive sat up, the tingling has gone but I can feel some throbbing in my lower arm area. Id like to get this checked by a doctor. I have this fear of medication so I'm a little worried about that. Just like to know if anyone knows what kind of medication and treatment a doctor may tell me to do?
Pinched A Nerve In My Neck? Last Thursday on my drive into work I must have turned wrong and my neck got a painful cramp in it and usually they go away but this got worse throughout the day and I couldnt turn my head at all without a shooting pain that goes from the back of my head down a little past my shoulder. It got slowly better over a 3 day period and now I can still feel it and its uncomfortable but I can turn my head. Is it a pinched nerve or what and what else can I do besides ice/heat, stretches, and ibuprofen because Ive tried all that :( my doctor said it was a Muscle Spasm but I dont think it should still be hurting? and I didnt wake up with it like I just slept wrong either... I need relief!
pinched nerve in lower back? So, I'm 16 years old and have been having digestive issues lately (severe bloating, gas) but it kind of took a different turn lately. In the morning I am pretty good, but as soon as I make a wrong move (still in the morning), a sharp pain shoots from somewhere in my lower back (more left side of spine, though sometimes it can feel like its on the right side too). It feels like an electric shock when this happens. It will shoot up throughout my middle back. My legs are weak, but they don't have any numbness or other nerve symptoms. I went to my chiropractor last week, but he didn't find anything really. This has happened for about a week now. I'm young and eat healthy--and recently began obstaining from sugars and wheat. What can I do to relieve this off-and-on sharp nerve-like pains? Just ice and lay off? Or do some excercies? (if I can attempt without too much pain) It hurts in positions where I have to use my lower back muscles (like bending over, or reaching up with my right hand...even sometimes when I stand I can have pain. It isn't constant--but it hurts when trying to do certain things. Is it a herniated disk? Or something else??? Also, every few mintues, when I happen to breath in deeply, my middle back will crack. (And btw, my weight is about 115 1bs, if that helps...)
Leg feels like its going to just "snap"? I'm 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant so it may be related to that, but yesterday I was at work (I sit 90% of the time) and I had noticed my leg was extremely sore by the back part of my knee... I researched the area, apparently it is my tibia? Well anyways, the pain hasn't gone away since. I didn't do anything to hurt my leg like sit funny or twist or hit it. It feels like when I walk, the bone is just going to split or something! Could this be a pinched nerve? What should I do? Anyone have any idea what this could be? thanks!
Can you pinch a nerve in your thumb? I think I might have pinched a nerve in my thumb if that's possible? I don't know what I could have done but maybe I accidentally hit it too hard on something? It hurts in a weird way. So like I have a really wicked sick hitchhiker's thumb and when I bend it back it feels like it's being shocked? The pain is like right on the right side of my left inner thumb knuckle and it hurts pretty bad
really bad arm pain while sleeping? my right arm hurts so baad! ever sense i was about 7 months pregnant ive woken up with severe arm pain during the night even when im not sleepng on that arm. i dont know what to do about it, i cant get it to stop hurting right now, is there anything i can do or take? it feels like a... pinched nerve feeling or something.. thanks!!
Reason for severe weight gain problem? I gained weight rapidly and basicaly lost all of my sex drive and I have always had a problem with irregular periods my period started at the age of 12. I didnt change the way I ate or exercised at all I have tried eating less but nothing happens. I have tried everything from hydroxycut to isagenix to weight watchers,etc... Nothing shows any results. I gained my weight in my face and middle section. I also feel like I can never get enough sleep... very fatigued all the time. Also, feeling depressed lately but thats probably because the weight has lowered my self esteem... I do have stretch marks on my stomach and thighs and breast they are a purple-ish color iv had them since I was 12 years old. I have noticed a fatty tissue in-between my shoulder blades which lead me to beleve it may be cushions but I have not had thinning of my arms or legs. My arms and legs have stayed the same size maby have gotten a tad larger during weight gain but seems to be almost the same size. It has also caused severe back pains I lay down and can't get up for hours sometimes because the back pain is so severe it feels like a pinched nerve. Im 5 feet 2 inches tall and now weight 400 pnds. I have a 4 year old daughter and feel like I can't be a mother because Im always out of breath and can't keep up. I would like to find out what I can do please help if you think you may know what can cause this or what I can do.
Last night I awoke by numbness in left arm, trouble breathing, slight dizziness, what does can this mean? I'm in perfect health, no joint or back problems, and I work out at least 5-6 days a week. Last night I awoke in deep sleep by trouble breathing, my left arm felt numb and cold, kind of like when you hit your funny bone and you feel pints and needles. It didn't go away throughout the night and I was never able to get back to sleep. I was really freaked out. It felt less severe after being awake for a few mins and I didn't experience trouble breathing after I awoke. I wasn't sleeping on my arm, but on my back and perfectly positioned with 2 pillows supporting head and neck. Now being up for about 10 hours or so, my neck in the front has been bothering me all day (more towards the center, behind the wind pipe). Some say it can be a pinched nerve, others say it has something to do with all the working out, and/or say it could be a sign to a more serious injury or illness. Please help.
Could someone let me know if this is a pinched nerve? I recently started to play the ukulele, and I must have been holding on to the neck of it too tight as I got a painful tingling feeling in my thumb, exactly like hitting your funny bone. It was happening every so often and I didn't think too much into it, but now it seems if I hold a pen or something it goes off again, but I mean all the time. It's not ridiculously painful, just really irritating. Does anyone know what this might be?

How do you know if your have a pinch nerve in your lower back? Back at the end of February I had got muscle spasm on the right side of my body, from the top of my back all the way down to my calf in my right leg. After about a month or two everything was feeling better except this pain I get in between my hip and my booty area. If I'm walking and step a certain way it hurts or when I roll over in bed it hurt, or if I'm laying on my back and try to sit up it hurts. If I sit for about 20 minutes, when I get up and the first two steps I take it hurts. I can't walk or run to fast because it hurts and getting in and out of cars it hurt. Does this sound like I can have a pinch nerve in my lower back? Tell what you think it can be because I done tried everything and it wont go away. Please only serious answers only! Thanks!
very bad pain in knee and dent in knee what is wrong--why is there a dent that comes and goes? also trying to determine is parastasia nerve pain and numbness in calf/foot is related to my knee or injuries to the groin.inner thigh and knee both popping follwed by pain around time of initial injury please answer question one and two (mostly one) after rwading the history and what is going on.bless you. ________________________________________ HISTORY My knee sometimes pops when I tun in bed followed by strong pain. Today and last week I looked and there was a dent in my knee towards the bottom. then I walk and look and it is not there anymore. The pain is getting so bad, I can scarcely walk. I was thinking I must have bad arthritis ..both knees hurt the other day but now just left which was worst when both were recently hurting Not sure if this is connected, but my left leg from calf down only and foot (same side as dented knee) is numb and has parasthesia (weird nerve sensations feel like my foot is in an ever tightening vice and being squeezed) Doctors say this is from some herniated disks in my back, but might it be stemming from my knee (?) as I did not have it when my sciatica hit and before my knee first popped back when I was bedridden for 3 weeks one year ago (foot/leg numb for a year) Knee popped several times and numbness in leg etc did not come till 4 weeks after the sciatica first hit. Knee had started popping about week 2 maybe after initial back injury. I had a groin/leg injury pops when it went numb a year ago 4 weeks after the injury that kept me bedridden for 3 weeks. My knee also started popping around that time when I moved my leg to the side in bed dozens of times. Each time is followed by a lot of pain. Spinal doctors (2) said it is from my back which has 4 herniated disk, spondilosis several spurs and narrowed disks which I assume is temming form multiple injuries from my 25 car wrecks (their fault not mine). I had severe sciatica and was completely bedridden for 3 weeks and sometimes when I turned on left side nerve pain more intense than anything I ever had with previous herniations was so bad I would scream and cry like a baby and need to move from that position within seconds as I thought I was gonna die. I am not sure if a nerve was damaged at the times it did that (is no longer doing it and little bad pain but lower leg/foot problems remain) but the location of the pain on my lower leg/foot and numbness/parasthesia is consistent with an l4-5 spinal injury. (steroid shot in spne did not help at all). but I feel it might be due to the groin/inner thigh popping injury when it immediately went numb (was not numb before) or my knee may be the cause instead of my back but doctors just say it is from my back. Any suggestions. Doctors are little help and it has taken over 8 months of waiting list to see them (saw two)..was told it will become permanent if not fixed in 1-1 1/2 years. I sometimes consider suicide as it is so bad and if it does not improve not sure what to do. I can hardly live with the pain and scared to take drugs for pain due to what happened to my mom. _____________________________________ my questions.. _____________________________________ 1 What could be wrong with my knee why is it dented and in so much pain. It felt twisted the other day when I tried walking. Is this dent and pops a problem with kneecap or ligaments/tendons. kneecap seems to easily change positions and then bad pain follows ..is this arthritis/injury/both? 2 is there any cure for parasthesia caused maybe by a pinched nerve. I am in constant pain with these injuries. could this be from back or groin injury or knees...insurance will not pay for MRI of knee or groin thus far. Nor chiropractic even though 3 doctors said I needed it. If it is a nerve still pinched in my back this long is there anything I can do to unpinch it question one is most important to me if only answering one
is this a pinched nerve or something else? Last week at work(I work as a server at a restaurant) I got a painful twinge in the bend of my knee, on the left side and was limping around for the rest of my shift. I thought it was a pinched nerve. it made my leg feel numb. The next day it was gone. I was fine for the next four days, and then today it came back again. But it doesn't hurt now, just feels like a tiny twinge when I walk or bend my leg. What is it? How do I get rid of it?

It seems to easily change positions and then bad pain follows these shifts in kneecap. could this be casual to nerve damage/pain/numbness in my foot /ankle and left side of legs or is it more likely to be my knee casing it. My insurance refused to pay for mri of groin or knee only the back. If it is pinched in my back this long is ther anything I can do to unpinch it they will not pay chiropractic which always helped me before when I was in less pain. most important is all this is answering questions with dent and knee and what could be going on there. But I added others stuff if anyone has any thoughts/advice. though your answer was interesting, tsc, let me point out I chose none of this. I was hit by other drivers in 25 wrecks including being run over by a women not paying attention and a 55 mph crash by someone greatly exceeding the speed with no license who had caused several othewr accidents. My hernations etc are a result of these and other accidents so I am sort of offended by this answer (2nd one) that seems to put the blame for this pain on me.
Pinched nerve feeling while pregnant? I am almost 25 weeks pregnant, and I have an odd pain right below the surface of my skin on my left part of my rib cage. I have a similar pain in my back from time to time [before I became pregnant], but this is worse. The skin feels numb, but below the skin feels like a very extreme burning pain. It hurts pretty severely at times. Lately, it's been pretty itchy. It's maybe an inch [if that] under my left breast. Lately even without the pain, the skin has felt numb-ish and it does concern me. If anyone could tell me what they think this is, it would be highly appreciated. It only started within a month or so and has never happened before I got pregnant. The pain used to subside when I would lay down, but there are times where it is so bad, that even that does not help. Laying on the opposite side however, eases the pain. [I am going to the hospital in 3 weeks for an appointment so if I cannot find out what it is on here, I will ask the doctors at the hospital.] Any ideas as to what it may be?
What does a pinched nerve feel like? I have had a sharp pain in my upper left back for the past few weeks. I can sort of feel it going down my left arm too. it feels like when you work out a lot and your muscles ache. Except I don't work out or anything like that and I have no idea what this could be. It hurts to even take deep breaths. So can anyone tell me what a pinched nerve feels like and if that could be what this is?
What may be my results? I just asked a question about lower back pain. My daughter is almost 2yrs old and I have never had this pain before. I do think it is a relation to my epidural. It is a really bad numb feeling in my back almost like a pinched nerve. But why do I still have this pain after almost 2 yrs? My pain is often when I am at work, I work in retail, and when I am active at home, cleaning, playing with my daughter. I guess I am just wondering what will the doctors do for it or are there answers to what this pain could be ?
What to do about pain? PLEASE HELP!? So for the past year or so, I've had really bad back pains. Unless I am sitting completely straight, my back is killing me! A 7 out of 10. Also, when I have to lift anything over 5 pounds, my whole body aches. I also have pretty bad neck/shoulder pains, as well as pinching around my left side of my chest. The only reason I add this is because I was told they could be pinched nerves or something. The area right above my knees always hurt after I walk or use my legs, even for a short time period. I have been having really bad headaches lately, and am ALWAYS tired and feel no need to get out of bed. I am a fit, 135lb, 5'7, 17 year old! Does anyone have any advice or ideas on what I should do/take? I'd like to believe that these are all symptoms of something like fibromyalgia, and not separate things. Also, if you can help me with these tidbits: *Just got off Depo-Provera and have had period for over 3 months now? *Always stressed, anxious, etc.
Nerve injury during routine blood draw? I had blood draw on Thursday. The phlebotomist was using a long (2.5") needle and had a hard time finding my vein. she kept moving it around to find the vein, then kept pushing deeper and deeper, even as I asked her to stop and remove the needle. Then, in one surge, I felt the needle pop through the vein and lodge in the crook of my elbow causing in extreme pain, like an electrical shock up to my shoulder and down my arm, causing numbness in my thumb. With all the pain I was screaming and cussing pretty loud, so she withdrew the needle (finally) as a supervisor came in and put a hot pack on the injury site and tried rubbing my wrist to bring the feeling back to my hand. after about 10 minutes I could feel my thumb and I gave her the ok to try another vein to get the blood. Using a Small butterfly needle she got the sample in under a minute. She filled out an incident report and had me call my PCP, who told me to use a hot pack until I see him Tuesday. Since then I have been unable to straighten my arm without a shooting burning sensation and sometimes it feels like a pinched nerve when I try to reach for things. Has anyone else had problems like this? What did you do?
What's Wrong With My Foot? I take a lot of dance so I don't know if this is an injury caused by that, but it feels as though there is a pressure on the ball of my foot, and it's causing pain, a lot of pain. It's very swollen and I thought I just pinched a nerve but it feels like pins and needles are poking my foot whenever I scrunch my toes or flex my foot. And it just feels very swollen and almost like there is a liquid in my foot and it's causing me pain... does anyone know what's wrong? Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Back pain after only an hour of being active? I've been dealing with back pain for over a year now. It first started after I fell at work, leaving me down and out for over a week. The pain has never gotten any better and my employer threw away my paper work for the injury I acquired at work...so I have no way to prove that it's the cause of my pain. I have extremely flat feet (no arch whatsoever) and this could also be a cause for some of the pain and I recently had a baby. I'm sure none of it has helped ease the pain. I use muscle rubs and take medicine consistently. I'm only twenty one and frustrated because I can't stand for more than an hour without my entire back aching. Not only that, it feels like I may have a pinched nerve in the right side of my back (recently happened). So what do you think? Would I need surgery, a back brace? Anything would help. I went to see a specialist when I was little about my feet who said I would probably need to have surgery on my feet because it would affect my back.
Feet discoloration, pain in legs when walking or standing for a long time, what is wrong? My mom has been experiencing pain in her lower extremities for a couple months now. At first it was just a pinched nerve in her left leg, and we got rid of that at the Podiatrist. But after that, both her feet started to hurt, but in a different way. It just hurts, especially when she stands or walks for a long time. Both of her lower legs hurt as well. When she sits, her lower legs turn pale and discolored, and reddish too, especially around the knees. She says her ankles and balls of her feet hurt the most, and a little bit at her knees. At first, we thought it was a vascular problem. She went to the Vascular Specialist and got ultrasounds for her veins and arteries done, and it showed that there was no problem with her blood vessels. It hurts for her to walk even for just five minutes. Both her feet hurt and her legs and she feels like her legs have to carry a huge weight (unable to bear weight). A little more than a week ago she started having trouble breathing every once in a while and her heart was racing, but that's gone now and the doctor suggested it was just anxiety. Also, when she sits for a few minutes, the bottoms of her feet (the toes, base of the toes, and heel) turn purplish. What could this be? She has been to the family doctor, a podiatrist, and a vascular specialist, but no one has been able to find what is wrong with her. The pain medications she takes is supposed to help relieve the pain and most of them apply to arthritis, but they don't help at all. Does anyone know what this could be or who we could go to for help? This has been going on since the beginning of November.
What's a pinched nerve? How does it happen, what does it feel like, how is it treated? Thank you for any information.
What does this sound like to you? Muscle spasms? I've had this problem for about a year now. It feels like what I would think a pinched nerve would feel like. Its a pain (ANNOYING dull really achey, sometimes sharp pain) in my left shoulder blade, maybe underneath it a little. I can't really pinpoint the area exactly unless I rub on it for awhile. I get some relief when I push on it or rub on it. I get tingles in that spot and the tingles go down my left arm like towards my pinky. Sometimes I get tingles in my left hip and left leg too.. It's weird. Went to the doc in Aug last year. Said it was muscles spasms. Went to the doctor a couple days ago bc the pain is getting worse. She said the same thing -- muscles spasm. Wants me to get an x-ray just in case. Sent me home with Soma 350mg (muscles relaxer)... which I will pick up Monday. Flexirol** doesn't help any. Nothing helps really. :( It hurts. She gave me nothing for pain. IDK WHAT TO DO!! Does this sound like a pinched nerve or a muscle spasm? Should I Get a 2nd opinion? Any advice would be wonderful!! It hurts. :(( No OTC meds work, or ice or heat. Nothing. Except pressure and rubbing it. Thanks!!
Why do I have constant vertigo? I am a 20 year old female, pretty healthy, but started having sensations of vertigo a couple months ago which went away, now they are back. I get these feelings everyday for about a month now with no other symptoms, I am a hypochondriac and always worry about my healthy and all the bad things I could have, I have talked myself into having a brain tumor and MS. I work full-time everyday and it doesnt get in the way of it. I dont lose my balance, slur my words, or anything, I get it when im hungry or after I just eat, or when im sitting in my chair at work and kicking my legs back and forth is when i get it. I have been so stressed about this that im making my blood pressure high of about 140 over 90, when its really 130 over 79, I want to get this figured out asap but i dont have health insurance and i feel like I need to go to the ER just to get a cat scan or an MRI, but im VERY SCARED. I feel like ignoring it but its not going away and I feel like my body is telling me something is wrong. one more thing, I also have bad neck pain and was told before I have a pinched nerve in my neck, could it be that causing severe vertigo everyday? or my ears, I dont have ear pain or anything. It also causes me nausea. but thats it. any suggestions on what to do? I just need someone to talk to me about this because noone seems to understand, thanks
Do you get relief when putting pressure or rubbing a pinched nerve? I've had this problem for about a year now. It feels like what I would think a pinched nerve would feel like. Its a pain (ANNOYING dull really achey pain) in my left shoulder blade, maybe underneath it a little. I can't really pinpoint the area exactly unless I rub on it for awhile. I get some relief when I push on it or rub on it though. The doctor said if it was a pinched nerve I wouldn't get relief from pressure on it. Idk though. I get tingles in that spot and the tingles go down my left arm like towards my pinky. And pain in my left arm and left side of neck. Went to the doc in Aug last year. Said it was muscles spasms. Went to the doctor a couple weeks ago bc the pain is getting worse. She said the same thing -- muscles spasm. Wants me to get an x-ray just in case (which I am as soon as I can!!) Sent me home with Soma 350mg (muscles relaxer)... WHICH DOES NOT HELP! Flexirol** doesn't help any either. :( It hurts. She gave me nothing for pain. IDK WHAT TO DO!! It's so annoying. Does this sound like a pinched nerve or a muscle spasm? Should I get a 2nd opinion? Any advice would be wonderful!! It hurts. :(( No OTC meds work, or ice or heat. Nothing. Except pressure and rubbing it. Thanks!! Also, it's not CONSTANT. I get breaks from the pain. It comes at least everyday though.
Whats wrong with my knee? For about a month now, my knee has been hurting. It feels kind of like what a pinched nerve in your neck feels like. But if I walk on it, my leg will collapse. At first it was constantly like that, so I had it wrapped up. It stopped hurting, so I thought it went away. Now it does it every once in a while.
Pain in upper spine, could it be pinched nerve? Sometimes, usually when I sit hunched over, I get this pain in my upper spine. It feels like it's on the left side of my spine. Sometimes, it will shoot a pain that goes down my spine a little, and across my shoulder blade. This has been going on and off for at least a year. What does a pinched nerve feel like? Could this be it? Any ideas of what it is? When it happens it usually stays for a little while. What do I do when it happens?
do i have a pinched nerve? what's wrong with my knee? my knee has been in some pain. it started when i put pressure on it while kneeling onto a bench. the bench was vinyl and cushion-y so i didn't think it would hurt. but it felt like it got pinched by some of the wood structure underneath the seating. it hurt but i was distracted so i didn't think about it until later. it's been five days since it happened. the pain is located on my kneecap almost right in the middle and it hasn't spread. the area of discomfort is very small and feels like a pin is poking me. it doesn't hurt unless i put pressure on it. so i want to know, what did i do to it? will it go away? do i need to see a doctor? i get very worried about knee pain because i've seen how devastating it can be to a persons life. any ideas? please and thank you.
Not sure what I did, but how can I get rid of this pain in my left buttock? I have a sharp pain in the upper part of my left buttock. Just left of the siatic nerve. I noticed it yesterday, and it hurts to bend over, because it shoots a pain down my left leg. Especially in the knee. It almost feels like it's cutting off circulation or something. I don't know what it is is, a pinch nerve, or I sat on something (lol) but any ideas on how to get rid of the pain? Do I need to go see a doc for this?
does this sound like a pinched nerve? So over 3 years ago I had my husband pop my back. I have always done it myself, but i watched his dad do this to him, so I wanted to give it a try. He had me lay flat on my back, take my right leg and bend it (so he could push it toward the left) and he grabbed my left arm and pulled it across my body, and on the count of 3 he pulled my arm to the right side and pushed my leg toward the left side, essentially twisting my entire body. As soon as he did it I felt a sudden sharp pain go down my right buttcheek and around to my inner thing on my right leg...the inside or my right knee was numb and on pins and needles, and stayed that way for MONTHS! I just knew i had a pinched nerve, but never got it checked out because it was just a numb knee... well within the last year i have noticed if i walk a lot or do a lot of activity, my lower back on my right hand side KILLS me. I cant pop it, and its not numb by any means (the numbness is compeltely gone) but it feels like it needs to get popped back into place on that one spot. it is right by my tailbone. nothing helps, walking, laying down on either side or flat, a wamr bath, NOTHING! Sometimes it wont be hurting at all, but anytime i lay flat on my back i cant sit straight back up unless i roll on my side first (i am a healthy, fit 23 year old female that teaches fitness classes!) otherwise its like my back prevents me from sitting up and hurts like hell. well I am now pregnant and it is killing me beyond words! I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow, but not sure what to expect since i am pregnant...like i said this has been years and hasnt corrected itself. It has NEVER gotten me to the point of tears until tonight and i cant sleep because no matter which way i lay i am uncomfortable. I am only 5 months pregnant, so i cant imagine how bad it will get :/ I am already waddling and im not even big yet! Even sitting up in a chair is uncomfortable, and crossing my legs like a lady is unbearable!!!! Does this sound like a pinched nerve??? Or something else? I just need relief!
