Is a pinched nerve a sign of a neurological problem? I described my problem to a friend and he says that I have a pinched nerve. I had stopped smoking two months ago and I also have been having more spasms, do these issues taper off as time goes on and get better or do they get worse? I forgot to mention I'm a 33 y/o male 5'8" wighing @ 200lbs give or take a few @ times.

Also sometimes when im tired after work or during work i get cramps in my left leg.
Pinched nerve? Ok I have a question... I have a pain in my lower right back... it almost feels like my butt. but its a bit above that. And I have a feeling in my right leg that kinda feels like a "growing pain" I didnt know if that was a sign of pinched nerve in my back? Help please! also my leg feels a little weaker...
is this a sign of a pinched nerve? the left side of my body is extremely weak and now and then i get a sharp pain like right below my spleen on the side of my stomach, its feels like a quick shock its quite painful it only last for about 3 secs, also i have a lot of pain on the left side of my back,is that a sign of a pinched nerve?do someone have a pinch nerve in the back?what are the symtoms you have with detail?
i think i pinched a nerve in my right arm? so, at school, i had a pinching contest (i know, gay, but people told me to.) and they come up, and pinch me in my upper right arm. and now, when i turn my hand upside down i feel a sharp pain throughout my arm, and sharpest in the wrist area, is this a sign of a pinched nerve or what? i wanna know if it is or not, and if its not, i wanna know what it REALLY is....PLEASE HELP!!!
Frequent tingling/pins and needles (pinched nerve?)?!? I play a lot of sport and have recently been getting pins and needles/tingling in parts of my body... more than normal i think. I've heard this can be a sign of a pinched nerve, but then again maybe I'm just getting paranoid. What do people know about pinched nerves and the symptoms? Do you think it there might be something wrong or am I just making a deal out of nothing... the numbness/tingling/pins and needles coes and goes a bit. it's not always there. i've sometimes been getting pains in my back just when i twist or move awkwardly and stuff. i dont have any shooting pains down my arms or legs though. i have no trouble sitting.
Pinched nerves? Sometimes while I'm standing up, I get a sharp, shooting pain, always in my left foot. I can't stand on my foot, so I immediately sit down to stop the pressure. It is always brought on suddenly, and is excruciatingly painful. Could this be a sign of a pinched nerve, or something worse? Thanks, I forgot to add. It's on the bottom of my foot, and lasts for about 10 minutes every time it happens.
Burning skin. Nerve related? I've had a lot of problems with a pinched nerve in my neck and in my wrist both on the left side. When it was at its worst, it caused sharp shooting pain down my arm. After a few months of physical therapy I greatly improved. Now I am having this burning feeling like - under my skin on my left hand and up my arm a bit. It feels like a sunburn kind of. I've had this before. Is it a sign that my pinched nerve is acting up and will end up getting bad again? Any experience with this anyone?
Mini Stroke or Pinched Nerve? A little over 5 years ago my dad had surgery on his neck to fix a pinched nerve that was causing no feeling in his fingers and arms. The surgery went well, however these last couple of years he has lost the feeling in his fingers again and has been dragging his one foot really badly. Could this be a sign of a mini stroke or a pinched nerve in the lower back?
injury, what could be the problem? my dad was talking to me and was saying that when he woke up this morning and had a hard time walking short distances , he said "really the legs didn't want to move". He's in pain when he sits, the pain is about 4 inches above buttocks. He said its been hurting for about 3 months, he thought he had maybe pulled a muscle. Do u know what this could be a sign of? Pinched nerve? Fractured Tailbone? He didnt take any hard falls or do any hard work at all.
Diabetic- Transient numbness in side of hands and fingertips? I am a Type-2 diabetic. I saw my doctor last week and told him that I have been having some mild numbness in the little-finger sides of my hands and in my finger tips. It comes and goes. He checked my legs and feet, and I have no sign of any nerve damage at all in either place. He said that diabetic neuropathy always starts in the feet or ankles, so that it could not be that. He ordered a spine X-Ray for me, because he thinks that a pinched nerve could be causing the numbness in my hands. This sounds a little off-the-wall to me. I have decided that I am not going to have the X-Ray. Any other diabetics have similar symptoms?
I have a pinched nerve in my neck.? Radiating pain and tingling are less frequent. Numbness in finger has switched to a weird over -sensitivity. Is this a sign of healing or what?
Pinched nerve? Very stiff? What's wrong with him? Chiropractor? And...? Holy cow.. I didn't realize how long this was going to be. Please bear with me! I guess I'll give a little background on the situation. I clean stalls at a farm in exchange for pasture boarding for two horses. When I first came to the farm I brought one of my horses, and left the other at the old barn because he was currently in a lease (he is sold now). The new farm has an Arabian that they agreed to let me "have" in exchange for 100 hours of working/riding their horses that they don't have time to. Basically, working of his price of $1000. As of right now I haven't signed any sort of contract, or even started working off his price. It's been about a week and a half. I do plan on having a contract stating the situation and some kind of log to keep track of the hours I've worked, and a final contract stating that they are releasing ownership of the horse to me. Anyways, they are a training/boarding farm and they got this horse for free back in November. They have put him on the back burner and have only ridden him maybe 6-7 times before I got him. I rode him fairly "hard" (not really.. I guess hard compared to what he was/is used to) a couple of days in a row. The next day he was off.. not completely lame, but you could tell he was sore. We put a poultice on the leg that he was off on and turned him. I rode him two days later and he was fine. So, I just brushed it off as him being sore from being worked too "hard". That was like maybe 5 or so days ago. 2 days ago we went on a trail ride that we trotted a lot on and now he is acting very stiff and ouchy. He is walking like his stifle is bothering him, but I don't know what is wrong. When I pick up his feet he acts differently on each one. His two fronts he will lift up high and hold them there. The back left, when I first picked it up, he stretched it outward. The back right he scrunched up to his belly. Also, when he was standing in the cross ties, he would lift his front legs up (one at a time, he wasn't rearing) as if he was going to paw, but lifted them much higher and didn't paw. One of the trainers said that he may have a pinched nerve and that he probably needs to see the chiropractor. She tried to "set" his back by pulling on his tail with all of her weight. He did seem to walk a little more normal than before. Any thoughts on what's wrong with him or what to do? Is the chiropractor a good idea? Also.. this is the second time this horse has been lame in some way in a week and a half. I already got his feet trimmed, and am now looking at calling the chiropractor out. I don't even have anything signed saying he is mine or anything.. should I tell them I want to back out of having him? I don't want to.. I feel like that wouldn't be the right thing to do, but I don't know if I should be obligated to stick with it, with all of these problems. Gah, I don't know.. I want opinions! Here is a picture of him lifting his leg up in the cross tie. I have a video, too but it's too big to upload. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9594162@N02/4468444882/ BTW, none of this is normal behavior for him
Do I have a blood clot or is this from stress or a pinched nerve? In my left toe I feel a weird buzzing, its not like pin and needles where the foot is falling asleep. Its like a phone is vibrating in my foot but the vibration is very weak.It buzzes for like a second then goes away for 3 seconds then buzzs for 3 seconds then goes away for 2 seconds and its very random like that. It went away for like 30 mins but now its back. It does not hurt at all just anoying. It seems to happen when im laying down on my bed playing video games or computer. there is no rhythm with my heart to it so I do not this it is my blood being clotted there or my arteries narrowing. I have looked many places online NOONE seems to know people say it could be.. MS Stress, anxiety(Which i have ALOT ALOT ALOT of right now) (but i was kind of calm when it started happening so maybe its rebound stress?) Or a pinched nerve(It does hurt under my shoulder blades from hunching over on the computer so much i have poor posture) Now today which is one day later the buzzing has stopped during the day but now It has returned and what is strange is that it is now about 3 inches down my foot from where it used to be? Is this a blood clot I am very nervous? Im very nervous and very stressed out can someone please help me put my mind to ease? I dont want it to be like a sign my hearts going to fail b/c i have been very worried lately with stuff like that after my roommate just died in a car accident. Could that mean my blood pressure is high? PS im 19 and im the biggest hypochondriac ever Im on zoloft and klonopin for anxiety I forgot to take my zoloft 2 days in a row(100mg) but I took it yesterday and today so I dont think thats the problem b/c I have forgot that before and never had this problem. I notice it mostly when I lay down on my bed propped up playing games People are saying it from a pinched nerve could it be a pinched nerve under my shoulder blades from poor posture? Sitting on computer alot? Should I run to the doctor tonight or could it wait? It almost feels like blood is trying hard to pump though there but its not in rhythm with my pulse. Could it be a sign of high bp?
Xolo yelping- no signs of obvious physical cause? Our two-year-old six pound Xoloitzcuintli (Petey) has quite a problem. For the first year of his life, he lived in a hoarder's house (she had over fifty dogs). When we got him, he was malnourished and extremely thin. Now, we believe we might be seeing another problem that wasn't immediately evident. A few weeks after we got Pete, he started randomly yelping. He could be either walking or sitting, though this seemed to occur most if he was laying down and the person holding him moved too quickly. We took him to the vet to see if they could find anything wrong with him. The vet thought it might be a strained muscle and gave him pain medication. Now, we are having the problem again. He is not showing any obvious signs of pain, other than the yelping. He will be sitting still, in his bed, and randomly begin to yelp. When he is yelping, it is very obvious he is in pain. He is also refusing to eat- something VERY abnormal for him. This has gone on and off for the day today- he will be going to the vet again first thing tomorrow morning. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? We were considering a pinched nerve, or possibly some sort of blockage (though he has been passing bowels regularly).
will a medical discharge harm my future? i might be getting a medical discharge for either a pinched nerve in my lower back and/or depression/memory loss. and there is no intention or signs of harming myself or others. all of it is work related. so i know the army is responsible. will it harm my future? i wanna be a police officer. im just wondering if i do choose that route how will it affect my future and what benefits would i receive?
My MRI Result Shows an infection in my spine after an injury. What is the Prognosis/Treatment? I am showing no symptoms of infection and am actually feeling better than ever and showing increasing signs of improvement. I fell and hurt myself about 2 months ago and had a Cortisone injection for a sprained SI joint. I had a bad reaction to the injection. My X-Ray as of 2 weeks ago s howed a pinched nerve and I have been doing adjustments for that and showing GREAT improvement. I had an MRI today and the results indicated infection in my spinal area. I have no symptoms such as fever, chills, etc. and I am actually moving around better and better and with less and less pain everyday. Does anyone have any experiences with this? I am really just seeking information at this point. I do have a Dr.'s appointment on Monday.
Sudden sharp hip pain? once in a while i get this sudden pain in the right hip. I end up limping for a few minutes till the pain wears off. what is the causing, is this just a pinched nerve or could it by signs of something more serious? im 27 years old and this has been happening off and on for a few years.
Tingling down both arms after a little pain in shoulder chest area? My mom is 60 and she has had tingling down both arms after a small pain across her chest and shoulder area about 4 times this month is it a sign of something or just poor circulation or pinched nerves
what could be wrong with my grandma? i'm really worried!? my grandma is 75. yesterday (aug. 21) she was walking out of a store and then this car was coming right at her and wasn't stopping. so she started backing up, when she got to the curb she fell and landed on her butt/tailbone; she has osteoporosis. two people came and helped her up and asked her if she was okay, but she couldn't talk because she was so rattled and her mouth was like rapidly quivering. the bad thing is the person in the car never got out, asked if she was okay, or even said sorry. she got in her car and drove home. when she got home she said she was pretty sore (her whole body) then when she went to do laundry her right arm went numb. then as the day proceeded so did her right leg, right side off her lip, and right side of her tongue. she sid that it is slightly better today but comes and goes at different rates of numbness. i've noticed that when the numbness comes she can't hold or feel anything in her hand. i'm really worried that she has had a stroke, this is signs of a stroke, or a pinched nerve of some type. please tell me what you think is wrong! i'm REALLY worried about her. she also said that her arm feels heavy i can't really do alot because i'm not old enough to drive yet and i don't think i should call 911 without my parents knowing lol well see my mom knows all of this is haapening but she is waiting to see if it will get better. i don't think that is good because if she waits to take her to a doctor she COULD have a stroke!
What were your early labor signs? I'm 39 weeks today with my second child. With my first I was "helped" due to complications at 36 weeks so I am not sure what natural labor feels like. I've had what felt like on and off menstrual cramps since I lost my mucous plug two weeks ago and started having a backache yesterday. My backache got worse last night and it feels like the baby is suddenly pinching a nerve right on my groin! It's painful. I've had hard contractions since last night but it's just false labor and they seem to be subsiding although I feel like staying in bed all day today. What were your signs of early labor? Maybe I'm just having normal stretching pains....
Could this be a brain tumor or nothing to worry about? Approximately four months ago I started experiencing this pain in the back of my head (which my doctor would tell me would be my occipital lobe). It was an almost constant pain in the back of my head where it almost felt as if someone was pressing on the back of my head; comparative to a pain associated with pressure. The pain would raidiate in my right ear as well. After different medications my doctor sent me for an MRI but it came out clear which was a sign of relief for me. The pain eventually seemed to decrease and then went away completely up until a week ago. I have now begun to notice the pain gradually come back, with the pain in my ear again. I even have some tingling sensations in my arm sometimes Sometimes the pain will come and go but I experience it everyday. I called my doctor but will not be able to get into to see her for another month! I am currently seeing a chiropractor as my doctor think it may be a pinched nerve. Do you think it could be a brain tumor? I worry.
Lost Feeling In Hand Due To Hit In Funny Bone Region...? I was hit in the funny bone playing football for my highschool. Now, for the past three days I've lost near-complete feeling in the bottom right part of my left hand. Is this a sign of something more serious, like a pinched nerve, or fracture? Should I go to a medical expert? Thanks.
early signs of labor? just wondering, im starting to have the lower pressure in the private area as if the baby was kicking there... i know its just nerves being pinched... and my stomach hurts like my baby is stretching his foot out or something and wont move it. also his movement has slowed which i heard is when he's getting ready to come, and i guess that mucus plug stuff is getting thicker by the day even my braxton hicks contractions arent that intense anymore ..i used to have to take my asthma inhaler to breathe when they came... i dont know this is my 1st child and im 38 weeks and 5 days along... im just so ready for this to end just wanted to know if this is a for sure sign that labor is around the corner or if its still a ways to go thank you
If your toes feel numb, is that a sign of diabetes? Or could I have just worn some uncomfortable shoes that pinched off the circulation for a day, and/or pinched the nerves? (I think it is not nerves, but circulation because the skin looks a bit dry and worrisome.)
Tingling feeling down both arms 60 year old? My mom is 60 and she has had tingling down both arms after a small pain across her chest and shoulder area about 4 times this month is it a sign of something or just poor circulation or pinched nerves
Can anyone tell me how to treat a messed up disk? I have been going to the chiropractor and he has been doing the laser on my back. it seems to be helping but i still have the swelling in there and the nerve is still pinched.. so are there any other things to do that can help with my disk? plz i am so scared of surgery... i haven't lost any bladder controls so that is a good sign...
What could this pain be? I was playing football and got hit while running. I flew a few feet and landed on the sidewalk strait on my hip joint. Its not a broken bone, it is just a achy stinging pain when i try to use my leg. And it doesn't hurt much to the touch. Just when im in motion. No serious signs like cuts only a small amount of bruising, barely noticeable. What could this be? pinched nerve, damaged muscle/ muscle strain?
Recently Ive experienced a numbness in my left pinky.. that extends all the way up my arm..? Ive read that this could be a pinched nerve... but i have also experienced strange hand cramps for about 5 years now.. Once or twice a week or so my hands will get stuck in certain positions.. like holding a pencil or glass of water. I've read that this is a symptom of MS.. could my pinky going numb also be a sign.. or are the two unrelated.? I would go to the doctor ... but im 21 and not insured at the moment.. is this serious enough to go without insurance??
How do you manage pain with a herniated disc in your lower back? I have a small herniation between L5 and L6 that my chiropractor showed me from a series of MRI films I gave him. I get excruciating pain down the left side of my hips and leg--it feels like sciatica because the disc is pinching those nerves. I have good days and bad days, but every day I feel pain. I used to take mediction quite heavily but now only take Ibuprophen and occasionally a narcotic pain med if it's *really* bad. But it's been over a year now since I first started getting this pain and it shows no sign of improving, even with lower back exercises to help strenghen the muscles. What else can I try?
I need to figure out what my bf has. He has shoulder pain. I believe the pain either started in his hand or? shoulder then radiated down to his hand then threw his other shoulder down to his other arm I think it started in his left. I am not quite sure on that one. He has been having some heart burn as well. He as some shortness of breath to like if he were to take a 10-15 min walk. When he got his shoulder/arm pain actually he woke up with it. The doctors said it was a pinched nerve. I do not believe that. His doctor sent him to a neurologist. They did tests both of his arms. The nerves were fine. The only thing they found was carpel tunnel thats was it. So we know its not a nerve problem either He is 30 years old. His weight is 240. His total cholesterol is 235. His bad cholesterol is like 500. I am not sure what his good cholesterol was but i know it was low. He just got his results for his cholesterol yesterday. His white blood count is slightly elevated. His doctor is going to do another cbc to check it out again to see maybe he was having an infection at the time. His doctor also said that his kidney test was a bit elevated as well. She gave him a urine test to see if she could figure that out. Also he smokes cigarettes to. The doctor said something about his red blood cells well his body has to make more of them to get oxygen to his body. I cant recall what test it was he took. She said that something with his lungs & not being able to make enough red blood cells & then his body needs to make more red blood cells to get oxygen to his body. He don't want to quit smoking. He don't want to go on a diet either. He don't want to take cholesterol pills either. Hes very stubborn. Now on top of this i believe he has fibromyalgia to. I do not think he has a thyroid problem cause he was tested for that to. He has the regular symtems that normal peple have for fibromyaglia patients. Pain every where. I do not think that his shoulder pain/arm pain is from the fibromyalgia. Having to sleep alot at least 10 hours per day. I think its early heart symtems. I do not know what else it would be. I have checked on the heart attack symtems like online & stuff & most of those signs mimic the signs he has. He is not willing to listen to me. Thats why i am here. I want every one's opinion! Help. Thanks..
Could this be an ectopic pregnancy? Alright, this one's a little tricky: So I had a baby, and six weeks later I started taking Errin (a mini-pill oral contraceptive.) One of the risks is ectopic pregnancy. About 2 days into taking it, I had severe headaches, but the doctor that prescribed it said that it was probably the heat causing it. I was told to increase my fluids, and call back if it was still there after a week. It disappeared after about 3 days, so I continued the drug. Then about six weeks into taking it, I felt a numbness in my right hand. I called back, and the doctor's suspicion was that because I had just started working again the day before, I had pinched a nerve in my neck from the backpack-like vacuum cleaner I had been using for quite a while, and that was causing the numbness. She said just to be safe, to stop taking it and call back in two weeks. I did so, and we both believe she was right about the pinched nerve. She said to start taking a new pack on sunday. (BTW, I had very mild pain on the RIGHT side of my abdomen, but I think it may have just been muscular, plus I had to pee all the freaking time. I took a pregnancy test just before starting up the pill again, just to play it safe, and it was negative) I started up the pill as instructed, and the next day about midway through the day, I had bad cramping, almost like mild contractions, or severe menstrual cramps. I also had pain on the LEFT side of my lower back, and pain while urinating, and near the end of the day, very very light bleeding after urinating. The next day, I just had the lower back pain, and extremely mild pain while urinating. Now today (the day after that), I have the same lower pack pain and mild pain while urinating, but it's on the RIGHT side this time! Parts of this sound like ectopic pregnancy (light bleeding, frequent/painful urination, bad abdominal pain, lower back pain on one side) and parts of it don't (the fact that I am in less pain than before, and ectopic pregnancy doesn't seem like the type of thing to get better, plus the pain is on another side now, which wouldn't make sense, and an ectopic pregnancy would just be on one side, right?) Could this be ectopic pregnancy, or - since I had just taken the first pill in the pack just 16 hours before the sudden onset of pain - could my body have taken the start of the pill a little roughly? And if anyone wants to know, I was taking the pill perfectly; always within the same ten minutes every day. I waited two weeks after initially starting the pill before me and my husband went without a condom, and I hadn't had intercourse for 5 days when I stopped taking it, and we used condoms the entire time I was off the pill. Plus, I am nursing, so the likelihood of any sort of pregnancy seems rather small to me. I'm fairly sure it's just an adverse reaction to starting the pill up again, but because some symptoms are similar to the signs of ectopic pregnancy, I can't deny I'm a little worried, particularly due to the severity on one's health of an ectopic pregnancy.
Doctors, please help! Do I have a brain tumor? I'm sorry if I sound overreacting or whiny, but, I was wondering, do these symptoms indicate a brain tumor? I have this thing where, randomly, whether I'm doing something strenuous or not, the back right part of my head would hurt. It would feel like a mini-headache, lasting 1 or 2 (rarely 3 or 4) seconds. I can't remember how long I've been having these, because I didn't think it was abnormal until I found out everyone else wasn't having them. I KNOW it wasn't when I was in elementary school, though... maybe even not middle school... (I'm in high school). It's always in the same spot and I'm really scared. They don't happen a lot, usually once or twice a day, if at all. I asked my dad about this (he's a doctor), and he says that it's probably a pinched nerve in the back of my head from always walking/reading with my head down. Of course, being me, I still freak out. Are my symptoms that of a pinched nerve? or a brain tumor? He couldn't check me properly because he was in the car. I'm sorry that that's the only symptoms I can give, because I am a LITTLE bit clumsy and I have bad eyesight (that's ALWAYS been worsening). I know that those are signs of a brain tumor, but... please help. I'm really... freaking out. ): Doctors only please, unless you really know your stuff about tumors.
Left arm pain and breathing issues, ECG, blood work and chest xrays were normal? I am a 21 year old female living in the Texas heat! :( About a month ago, I went to the ER because I was short of breath, I had some left arm pain, minor chest pain and I thought I might be having heart issues...although being 21 years old...it is very unlikely. They ran an ECG, they did blood work, they took chest xrays and all was absolutely normal. They were unsure of the reasoning behind my issues but thought it might be GERD, or anxiety or something of the sort and then they sent me home. I am on 40mgs of prescription prilosec daily and it helps with the breathing somewhat it seems...it seems like I don't have as much trouble breathing as frequently as I used to but it still comes and goes. Well, ever since last weekend, I have had this twinge of burning pain that will come and go through out the day for 20 or 30 second spouts and then it just stops. When I press on it, it feels as if it is bruised, the skin looks normal around the area...sometimes the skin around the area itches a bit but other than that...nothing... I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and OCD when I was 18...so mentally, I am under alot of stress and anxiety because I feel that something is always wrong with me so sometimes, I feel little aches and pains and it multitudes into something larger mentally for me. I am going into my dr. tomorrow morning to request that I be referred to a cardiologist who can perform a stress test on me and try and get some answers to my issues... I know that these symptoms resemble a heart attack just from reading tid bits about heart troubles here and there and want to know if since I had the ECG, blood work and chest xrays done there was any reason I should still be concerned that this be signs of heart trouble or a heart attack if the tests came back normal about a month ago... I am really beginning to worry myself and feel that I might have a heart attack at any given moment. I have also considered the fact that maybe I have a pinched nerve or something because it is a burning sensation and it really becomes painful when I have lifted something, when I move it a certain way or if I have my purse on my left shoulder....does this type of pain sound like heart pain or does it lean more toward anxiety and GERD/heart burn... I really would like some serious answers please!! Thank you very much, your answer has calmed me tremendously! I do not have nausea/vomitting...I get hot flashes from being nervous and anxious about my health from time to time and I know it is only from anxiety of health because it only shows up when I think about dying or having something terminal. And my sleeping had actually been awesome lately...sleeping really good here lately so that is good... I have thought about taking the yoga classes that are offered at my gym I have a membership with and also doing some swimming to kind of relax and get some endorphens working...
Pins and Needles everywhere? Hi All, Last week I went to see my doctor because of a possible pinched nerve in my neck that was giving me shoulder and upper arm pain when my arm was moved away from my body. My doctor had x-rays done, and has since called me back. Here in Canada, no news is good news after a doctor appointment, so i am not concerned, as to my wife informed me that he left a message on our answering machine, saying he wants to see me. I am away in Europe on business and am contemplating going home sooner so, because of this phone message. No sense trying to call my doctor, they will not give results over the phone even if it was good news. Since my last doctor appointment last week, i have developed new symptoms: pins and needle like sensation all over my body. The “prickles” are quick (les then a second), not like the prolonged sensation of a foot that has fallen asleep and my spin is tender in the middle of my back. They are everywhere, and all the time except when I am laying down. Funny enough, my shoulder and arm feel great, no symptoms there at all since the pins and needles started. Although I do get a sour upper back from sitting. Obviously my main concern is that I have a lung cancer and these are the first signs. I use to smoke, quit 3 years ago. Have had no sporting injuries that I can think of and other then what I described above, I feal great and am very active. 32 year old male with no history of health problems Can any one shed some light on what the most likely scenario is with regards to the symptoms that I explained above? Thanks, Darren
Cat needs to go the vet, but I am in bad financial situation? My cat has a pinched nerve in her lower back and her skin twitches. I took her to the vet and now she does not show signs of pain like she did before, but its still twitching. She needs to go back to have this looked at again. Heres the thing: any form of payment I could give them would most likely bounce. I have an appointment for Thursday because I figured I would be able to pay out of pocket with the tips I made from waitressing this week. I just started and for some reason they only scheduled me for the weekend. I am in major debt to the bank from bills and my parents have already stretched their bank accounts trying to help me recently. I have no idea what to do! I want to just put this vet appointment off for another week til I get more money but my roommate is putting pressure on me to take her. I have no idea how much this is going to cost. I thought about asking my roommate, even though it is hugely embarrassing for me, but if its a lot, I don't want to be in debt to her. It will take while to pay her back and since she graduated and is leaving soon, so that complicates things. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
My fingertip hurts while playing violin? I have been playing for about 5 years and formed calluses on my fingertips so there's no problem there. Just two days ago, while I was practicing for a solo, the tip of my middle finger began to hurt. I thought it was a pinched nerve but I'm not sure what or why it happened. My teacher says I have no problem with finger placement and I couldn't have played difficult pieces if I had that kind of trouble with my left hand in the first place. Anyway, it's just my middle finger tip that hurts only when I put pressure on it. However it looks normal but the pain is there and there's no signs of pus, slivers, redness, swelling, etc. compared to my other mid finger. The rest of my fingers and left wrist are fine. I know it sounds weird but does anyone know about this before I decide to go to a doctor to check it out?
Mysterious and very painful headaches? For the past few years, my mom has been having these very painful headaches every few months or so. They are way worse than normal headaches and she says the pressure feels like a balloon is blowing up in her head and the pain builds for a few minutes until the "balloon" explodes. Sometimes they are so bad that she has to just curl up in a ball and cry until it is over. They have been happening more frequently and seem to be getting stronger. They come without warning and there is no apparent trigger. This is NOT a migraine and since it comes without warning and is over within a few minutes, there is not enough time to get to a hospital. CAT scans and MRIs have shown nothing out of the ordinary. The best prognosis the doctors can give is a pinched nerve that shoots pain up her head but they can't be sure. If anyone has had this happen or knows what it might be, please send any information. Thank you so much. Additional Details I don't really think these are cluster headaches because they usually only happen every few months or so, but the signs seem about the same as cluster headaches. I think the pain begins at the back of her neck and goes up into her head towards the front but I'm not sure.
Anyone have experience with this? My 7 year old dachshund has begun to have neck pain. I took her to my vet, and after xrays were taken discovered she has two places in her spine where there is no space between her vertebrae. One in her lower back above her hips and one in her neck. The one in her neck appears to be fused already. She is displaying signs of pain, discomfort and restlessness. She whines and pants, and this morning began to limp a little in the front. My vet changed her medication from Metacam to Tramadol for pain and a different NSAID, Deramaxx. I have just begun to give her these medications and do not know how she will respond. I am distressed that she is in so much pain and discomfort. I have a 12 year old dachshund that had a back problem causing temporary paralysis but no indication of pain a couple of years ago. He recovered fully with Metacam and rest. The issue with my 7 year old is different in that she is in pain, but does not display any loss of function. My vet seems to think this will heal itself in time with medication and rest. The fusion of her vertebrae obviously happened some time ago, so I'm not sure if she has a pinched nerve or if something else is going on. I would love to her from Hilidox on this.
**Sigh** 23 year old with daily chest pains for the past six months...Any ADVICE OR EXPERIENCE would help...? Ok im at witts end. Lets strat with this my name is will, im 23 years old, 6 foot 1 currently weigh 285 (was 326 small victory) suffer from hypertension altough its been under control with the help of some medication. I currently take 75mg of metoprolol, 20mg of benicar 10mg of cyclobenzaprine or flexeril. My oddysse all sarted about 7 months ago, one day while at work (im a cable guy) i was out and about doing my normal routine when i started to feel the sense of lightheadedness and dizzy, i stoped and looked at my arms and they were shaking like crazy, i immediately panicked and drove myself to an er. Thats when i was diagnosed with high bp and tachycardia. I was terrified, altough ive been overweight for most of my life im actually pretty active yet over the past year i balloned from 250 to 326 (junk food, stress, etc). I had been feeling a bittired before all this happened but i just tought it was me being fat. My bp on that day was running at 170/95 scary!!!. and my heart rate was at 140bpm scarier!!!. Since then ive been on my meds and my blood pressure has been normalized i run at around 124/70 -130/80, so the meds have worked only problem now is that ive been having DAILY CONSTANT chest pain and pressure. I would say a week after they found out i had high bp and i was on meds they started. FIrst as light little flinches kinda like if someone was poking you with a tack around the left sideand my sternum. The first time it happened i would gently rub it and it would go away but since those days it has simply progressed to the point where its EXTREMELY dibilitating. Ive gone to the er 1 and to the urgent care about 10 times. For the same symptoms, it always feels like someone stuck theyre hand in my chest and started to slowly press on it, sometimes it feels like there a ballon stuck there, it feels like im having a heart attack daily, and for the most part my bp and pulse stay the same (on occasions i have panic attack and my pulse rockets and so does my bp) but for the most part ive tried o stay even keel. Theyve done cardiac enzyme test, event monitors, ekg's, stress test, heart ultrasound, and they all come back fine. Theres times where i really feel the pain with my ekg on and it shows nothing other than an elevated heart rate. Its so debilitating when i know somethings not right yet it seems to the docs that nothing is wrong. They always tell me relax its not your heart yet the pain is STILL there. My primary care doctor has sent me to 2 well know cardiologist and they all come to the same conclusion and exclude any cardiac reasons for my chest pains. Hes sent me to one of the best g.i doctors in my city and have had a endoscopy performed on me and all they found was mild gastritis and no signs of GERD. Ive had a gallbladder ultrasound wich only found a fatty liver. Ive had a abdomen and pelvis cat scan which came back negative. Ive had a chest cat scan which also came back negative. I really dont know what other test can be done, i dont feel normal anymore, i feel like im living yet im not?? like im just going trough life with this unknown burden on my shoulders. I constantlly feel anxiety and mostly due to my pains,(had you met me pre- these pains i was a care free type of guy) now i worry about everything. I honestly dont know what else to do. Im getting a mri on my brain cus my primary care doctor sent me to a neurologist to see if it might be neural related. Im scared that im gonna get a heart attack or stroke but it seems everytime i go to the docs they have a different point of view. What can i do? im going to ask my doc for an mri on my chest, might it be a pinched nerve? ( my work requires me to climb poles up to 25 feet) or a disease? my family history has diabetes and arthritis but no heart problems. both my parents are still alive and healthy. My doctor is really trying and tahts why i havent given up on him and all the times ive gone to the urgent care they tell me the same thing, "follow up with your primary". Has anybody gone trough the same thing? am i going crazy??? only suggestions. thanks and god bless
I NEED advice!?!?!? I have had this now since the beginning of the year, but the first place to go numb was my right hip about 5-6 years ago. Now I have numbness all over my body in patches. I know I should go to the doctor, and I know it's not pinched nerves and I don't have any other signs of MS, and once the numbness is there, it stays. It has been progressing over the past year and it only gets worse. I also have a very bad amune system and keep getting sinus infections and bronchitis over the past two years, I recently had to stop taking ibeuprofin because it makes my stomach ill. I also have asthma and have to take my inhaler often because of the inflamed lungs. Have you ever heard of the numbness stuff before??? I'm scared and I don't have insurance to go see a doc. I don't have the money to go in either. oh, and where it's numb, sometimes there is a slight burning sensation.

atypical pneumonia? I had bad pains in my chest a little over a week ago, I thought I'd pulled something or had a pinched nerve. I started getting fever (hot/chills/hot again) but never have a cough. I went to the doctor, got an X-ray that showed a spot. He sent it off to the radiologist but thought it might be pneumonia so I've been on Avelox for several days. The first day on it, I vomited dozens of times within a 16 hour period & then another couple of times a few days later. The doc has checked my lungs 3 different visits & there's no wheezing or other noise but breathing is not as deep in the right lung, of course. I still have no cough. Doc said the spot on my right lung is at the edge. I asked a nurse at my workplace (lots of pathogens there, btw) & she suggested it might be pleurisy but I had no wheezing or other sounds (a sign of that) when the doc checked. How prevalent is this type of pneumonia at the lower edge of the lung with no cough symptoms?
Low back Pain. diagnosed with spondlolythesis Grade 1 in L5-S1? A 25 yr gym freak, I started jogging after a while on a hilly terrain. Gradually, I started feeling pain in my lower back. It was a strange kind of pain which was only when I made some specific movements, and it extended like some nerve was pinched.I continued playing before and ignored the warning signs. After 2 weeks I was doing ab crunches lying on ground, when I started feeling a pain that was unusual. I checked out with the doctor the following day and got an X ray done. report came, it said spondololythesis in L 5- S1 grade 1.He advised me to take rest. I hadconstant pain (it was a dull pain, bearable on the left side of my lower back). I was very precautionary of whatever I was doing. But after 2 weeks, went for cycling and the next day I went for a climb up the hill, I came back and I felt a terrible pain along that bone. I took 4-5 pain killers for the next 3 days and the pain went away. The dull pain continued. next 10 days I didnt do nethn and pain went. But it comes back,

Advice from a PT, chiro, or Dr for the source of this pain in my hip please!? History: Initially the pain was very intense in my groin, right at the front of the hip in that groin crease, dull as apposed to sharp but quite intense in severity but only when walking. Not a shooting skinny electrical pain. Each step on the right leg caused this intense pain in the front of my hip/groin. The pain was worse on hip extension. The pain spread downwards in the shape of a fan the size of my hand , on the upper front of my thigh (but not a skin pain) I also had a sharp pain in the anterior medial aspect of my lower thigh above the knee, again only on each step. Above the knee, it is best described as being at 7oclock if I was looking down to my knee. It wasnt an electrical nerve pain either , more like a very well defined ache that spread upwards in a small fan shape. Initially in this first week of hell I also had pain in the back of my thigh too, again only with each step. (I cant remember now if it was runnign up from the knee or going down from the top.) If I continued to walk for more than a few minutes with these pains then my entire upper thigh (at the front) felt like it was on fire, a real burning ache. Even driving the car hurt my thigh then- when I had to take my foot on and off the accelerator and move it to the brake and back again. At the height of the aching 'constant' burning pain that I would get it felt like I had been given a 'dead leg' (punched in the thigh). The sharp pain continued with each step on the right side.It was becomming sharper and more defined. The burning across the top of my thigh lasted about a week. Mind you I stopped my 'exercise' walking after the first day and stayed home to rest it. The pain in the back of my leg had considerably weakened too and wasnt a problem anymore. It has now been 18 days since initial injury. Whilst the week of rest gave some improvement in that aching, the last 11 days have shown no improvement at all. It feels like something is out of place. Like something is catching or getting pinched with each step, right in the front of my groin. If I was to look down my body the pain would be at 1 oclock below my iliac crest. Tonight I lay on my back and put my R heel on my L knee to test a muscle group. It was mildly painful but more uncomfortable and tight feeling. Leaving my foot there I let my R knee slowly lower to the bed and the pain was gripping me in the inner thigh before it was even a fraction lowered. I brought that knee back up to stop the exercise and ease the pain but when I raised my foot up to straighten my leg it felt like I had pinched a nerve in my groin. The pain was so severe it took my breath away and I began to panick. It was like a dislocation in that to try and move it made the pinch even worse. The pain was unbearable until the groin joint popped and I could put my leg down. It all happened quite quickly though. I have repeatead this (gingerly two more times tonight) and the same thing happened. (I feel I am getting misdiagnosed so was trying to isolate muscle groups.) It hurts more to walk uphill or upstairs. When I am not walking it doesnt hurt at all. But if I do a 20min walk and therefore suffer 1000 steps of sharp pain then it leaves my upper thigh/groin aching. I have spent hours online looking at signs and symtoms and diagnostics for the muscles and ligaments and joints in this region. Today I pushed in where the pain was, in the front of my hip/groin, whilst I walked and the pain went away, when I took my fingers off - the pain returned. I am an RN and I dont believe this is sciatica pain. No offence to the kind people wanting to answer this question but if you are not experienced in this field please dont post a guess disguised as a diagnosis. As I said I feel I have been misdiagnosed (wont put the diagnosis in here yet) so I am curious to hear a second professional opinion to see if it matches my own. I have tried to be as specific as possible. Thankyou in advance, Jo I didnt want this to bias the answer as I wanted the thoughts to be on the groin pain; I had minor back pain prior to this injury. (injured the week prior but only result of injury after initial day was a quick twinge sometimes if I bent down and out) Since subsequent groin injury it is now a major back problem with constant severe pain. The minute you have back pain and leg pain the diagnosis of sciatica is dished out without a second thought. I can FEEL this and I am an RN of 19yrs, I am not ignorant of neuro pain vs mechanical pain vs somatic pain. Imagine if you could 'feel' what your patients were suffering, how that would help with your diagnosis? Well I can feel this! It feels somatic!
my husband is sick, and doctors cannot find what is wrong with him. He just turned 37 yrs old and has a list? of medical conditions.for the past few months, he as been getting headaches with numbness in his face, forgetting things like his SS#, and confusion. He as A-FIB, sleep apnea, nuropothy(sp), high cholosteral. He is on a bunch of medications. He has had a lot of tests, and even though his blood count is crazy...they find nothing wrong with him. (MRI CAT SCAN, ETC). They also said he has a pinched nerve in his back and some discs out of whack. His protein levels in his blood are EXTREMELY low, but no signs of stroke. Any help would be appreciated
Is my dog paralized now? My 2yr old Male French Bulldog cannot walk on his hind legs!? We have a male french bulldog that's only 2 years old. He is muscular and was very playful and usually sleeps in bed with me. Thursday evening, 8/26/10, He started acting like he did something very wrong. He is semi-aggressive to cats and we thought he may have killed one, (he knows he'll get into trouble if he chases any of them) but a pon checking our 3 cats were okay. Friday we walked him down to the bus stop and he was shedding like crazy like he was stressed, but he walked fine. Friday night I walked him in our back yard and he started walking like he was crippled in his hind legs, stiffed legged and wobbling back and forth. He pooped but was unable to bend his back like normal. Saturday, 8/28/10, he cannot walk on his hind legs. And OF COURSE, we took him to the VET, and he said that we have 2 options: 1) a $5000 back surgery for maybe a pinched nerve or 2) steroid shots and pain relievers. We don't have 5k so opted for the steroids. We also had 2 x-rays done and the vet didn't see anything on the x-rays. It's now sunday and he still cannot walk. Uncontrollable bowel movement are starting to take place, peeing and diarrhea. We have to take him back on Monday for a second set of steroid shots. It's now monday the 30th and he is showing no signs of improvement. We have to take him in for a second set of steroid shots but I am doubtful it will help. So $300 later, Is our dog paralyzed now?
Causes for leg numbess with clean tests for thyroid and MRI? Background: I am a 34 year old male. For the last 3 years, I exercise for 60-90 minutes 2-3 days a week. 30+ minutes of cardio, the rest in hand weights and core strengthening. I do IT work and struggle with my posture at times. I have a lot of stress in my life, even though externally, I don't really feel "overwhelmed" that often (though sometimes, I do). I do have a strong history of manic depression and anxiety in my family. I recently quit smoking, after 15 years (10-15 cigs a day). Timeline: About 8 years ago, I noticed small, quarter-sized numb spots on the very tops of the my thighs. Never hurt, never really cared. Then a few years ago, I hurt my back (rowing machine) and it's been a struggle to keep it re-habbed, but so far, it's OK. Since then, the patches expanded and now cover the majority of the tops of my thighs. Still, no pain though in my legs though. I began fearing that my back ailments were making my thigh numbness worse. A pinched nerve, I thought. I went to my Dr. and he suggested PT. I did that for 6 weeks and it DID seem to restore some sensation in my thighs. I eventually resumed my gym workouts as normal. However, I also began having other weird symptoms, such very infrequent "cold finger tip" feelings, that seemed to only last minutes. I've also had infrequent experiences with dizziness (have never fallen though) and days where my chest hurt. I had a chest x-ray, everything was OK. I also noticed thinning of my hair 2 years ago, but it's been slow. I have no baldness in my family, so this seems odd. Having a deep history of thyroid problems in my family, I wanted to see if that was in order. Last week I got blood work done AND an MRI to look at my lower back. My thyroid came back normal, cholesterol and vitamin D levels were "outstanding" (my doctor said I was one of his healthiest patients on paper). The MRI also showed no obvious problems with my back, despite a constant dull pain that sometimes is very sore. I asked for a referral to a neurologist but my dr. said he had nothing to refer me for, and suggested more PT (which again, DID help some before.) So my question is -- what are possible other causes for this numbness? To be honest it doesn't bother me, other than there being no obvious reason for it. I fear the worst, such as early signs of MS, despite being otherwise healthy. Perhaps an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder? Stress related? Anything but MS! ;-) Thanks in advance.
What are the chances of making a full recovery? I've had an MRI to confirm that I have central disc protrusion from L4-L5/S1, with disc height loss at L5. It is not pinching the nerve but I am warranting signs of nerve damage so I'm having an EMG to look for damage...I've done 3 months of physical therapy which has not helped but made it worse, I have been to a chiropractor and a massage therapist. I've been on anti-inflammatories and pain killers and nothing has helped me so far... Is there any chance that I will ever get better?
Why do I have numbing hand, shooting pains in fingers, while laying down? I am a 22 year old female dealing with my right hand numbing very often. It happens mostly when laying down and some times driving or brushing teeth, etc. The pain is mostly in my ring and middle finger, but my whole hand numbs too. A few years ago a doctor gave me medicine for Tendonitis, but this feels different. I have considered a pinched nerve in the shoulder, so I received a professional massage. That did not help. It could be signs of Carpal Tunnel, but my pain does not seem to match symptoms. I do not currently have health insurance, so I am looking for over the counter help. Please give me another idea of what the numbing pain can be from and how to stop it.
Why is my dog not acting normal? My dog is a 3 yr old American Pitbull. For the last month he hasn't been acting like himself. My dog has had a couple of injuries, making him not as mobile as he use to be, but he has recently been scaring me. About a month ago, out of the blue my dog couldn't get up. I called his name repeatedly and he didn't even make an effort. Then everything went wrong, he peed himself, threw up and was rolling on the ground. I rushed him to the Vet (not his vet, because i was so late at night i had to take him to the emergency room) and my first thought was a seizure. They wanted to do blood work, but at the time I was flat broke, so I couldn't. They told him it could be something he ate, but they didn't think it was a seizure. He got a shot for nausea and pills too. After that, he still didn't eat without me putting some kind of wet food or human food in his bowl. He started to walk, but now his tail was down and wasn't vocal at all (He use to be very vocal, I almost named him Chewy because it seemed like he was always trying to talk). Also, he became very sensative to movement, everytime i tried petting him he flinched. I finally saved money and took him to his vet and they did blood test and fecal exam. Both came back with normal results. The vet said he might have a pinched nerve, that is why his tail is down and he flinches because he is anticipating the pain. He gave me ten days worth of medication. I am now out of the medication and no signs of improvement. I don't know what to do. I definitely can't afford to keep taking him to the vet (I'm a poor 23 yr old student, work fulltime and pay for everything myself). Is there something they can't find in a blood or fecal test? He killed a rat about a month and half ago, but he has is rabies shoot. I'm convince he has early stages of rabies, but the doctor said it be rare, since he is up-to-date. And you can't test for rabies unless the dog is dead. Please help!
Pinched nerve, or something more serious? Two days ago I had a martial arts workout where I was going some full power and speed cresent kicks with a straight leg, the kick coming up from the inside and swinging to the outside. After the workout, my legs were a bit sore from the exercise, but nothing unusual. The next morning, no pain really to speak of. However later that afternoon and into the night, the inside of my thigh began hurting like crazy. It wasn't a muscle pain, but felt more like a nerve pain. The pain was so bad I could not walk without leaning on a wall and even then hurt like crazy. Moving from a sitting to standing position was the most painful bit of all.. As the night went on, the pain seemed to move up from mid inner thigh closer to my groin. It pain was so bad at one point I felt sick to my stomach and thought I was going to vomit. I assumed I had pulled/torn a groin/adductor muscle. However by the second day, by the time I went to get some medicine, the pain was practically gone. Now two days later, there is no sign of pain at all no matter how I move my leg. So obviously a torn/pulled muscle would not heal that fast, so I am wondering it if could have been something with a nerve. I ask because I have been in martial arts all my life and have had many injuries but have never felt pain like that, and then suddenly disappear. I also wonder because found a lump on one of my testicles a few months ago,(same side as the thigh pain) and although the scans say it is not cancerous, I wonder if the sudden rise and fall of pain may be due to that and a misdiagnosis by the doctor. Any ideas about what may have caused such pain?
Our shih tzu started foaming and shaking, high temp, and temporary blindness, The vet has him on IV any ideas? About a week ago he started vomiting like 4 times in 1 morning. Then he started showing signs temporary blindness. Yesterday I took him to the vet cause he seems so week and he wouldn't jump on the bed or off like he normally does. The vet said he had a pinched nerve and treated him with a shot in the back and we took home some meds: amoxicillon and metcam. Then today around 5 pm he started shaking, and foaming at the mouth. The vet has him now and he's on an iv because of a high temp. He's almost 2 years old.

Leg pain... Can someone help? About 2 months ago, I woke up one morning and my right leg was hurting. And after awhile, my left leg was doing the same thing. Depending on which side I slept on, one of my legs would hurt when I woke up. My right leg constantly has pain, and feels as if it's bruised and has something stuck in it. And I've also been having lower back pain from my legs. I went to the health center on my college campus, and the doctor that checked out my legs said that it was my iliotibial band that was inflamed. He gave me some stretches and prescribed to me 600 mg strength Ibuprofen. Well, it's been about a month since I went to the doctor, and the pain killers and stretches aren't doing anything for me. I went back to see him yesterday, and after checking out my legs again, he said that there was no sign of a pinched nerve and that my mobility was perfectly fine. It's not that I don't trust him and what he told me, I just don't think that he's correct. I have an appointment with my physician from home, the one that's known me since I was in kindergarten. I just want to know what could possibly be wrong with legs? I can't really do anything without them hurting, along with my lower back hurting. Thank you to anyone who answers! :D
Prelabour signs - what should I look for? I am currently 39 weeks with my 3rd. In my previous pregnancies I didn't suffer any sort of prelabour signs. Both labours came on very suddenly, and full on. I am just wondering what sort of signs you had that you were in prelabour? I have been suffering with a lot of thigh/groin cramping. It almost feels like a pinched nerve. I have also been having very painful Braxton Hicks across the top of my stomach and lower stomach area. Also, both of my previous labours have been full back labours so I have never had a stomach contraction and was just wondering what they feel like. Where do they start. upper or lower stomach? Do they radiate down the stomach or just cause the whole stomach to contract at once? Thanks! With my first my waters broke an hour before I had a contraction With my second my waters didnt break until her head was crowning......
Pinched a nerve... Signs of healing? Heya, I pinched a nerve and talked to a doctor about it. He said should be fine within a couple of weeks. Its been a couple of months and I've stayed in contact with him but it still feels weird. I sometimes get the pins and needles feeling all over, and then i get a feeling like have 3/4 of it is back to normal. Then i get in between stuff, itching(for some reason i just got to touch), feels like regular pain threshold, just alot of coming and going of different feelings. Like 2-3 days it can be one way and then it will be another. One day I will think its healing and then the next it feels different. Some times it can be painful. I can sense hot and cold really well. Are these good signs? I've been taking B Complex with C everyday but it just feels like a lot of bouncing around. I think I pinched it and a couple of weeks ago found other reason that may be stunting my healing. I talk to my doctor and he said I can return to normal stuff. It just comes and goes. Some days it feels like theres no sensitivity and others it feels like that its healing. Idk guess I just get bothered by the flipin of feelings.
whats the best pain reliever that i can take regulary without bad side effects for pinched nerve? I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade just below it. I have Used a heating pad, icy hot, aleve which I heard can cause bad side effects when to much is taken same with aspirn I was wondering if there was one I could take more of like ibprofin which I heard can't hurt u as bad its been two days and it shows no sign of stopping.
Bitten - Now I have arm/hand pain!? Someone bit my right hand half way between the knuckle of my index finger and the protruding bone of my wrist. The bite was hard, but the only visible damage was a bottom and top tooth impression and a few tooth marks, which healed within 3-4 days. Ever since, I have been having hand, arm, and elbow pain. Most of the pain is in the muscular area of my palm that's right below my thumb. The pain sometimes also shoots up my arm, causes elbow pain, etc. I'm pretty sure that the problem is nerve pinching/damage, since there's no sign of infection. Will the pain/problem I describe go away on it's own? What should I do next (would rather not see a doctor, but will if I have to).
What could have caused low blood pressure and arm pain? I am a 23 year old mother, earlier this evening I was in the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. I have had panic attaks before and this was not the same. It began when I was walking through my house, my left inner arm began to radiate pain down my arm, my anxiety rose, my heart started racing, and my breathing became rapid. I sat down on the couch and by the time I did, my hand was numb, at whichpoint the numbness creeped back up my arm, into my shoulder, and finally my chest. My chest hurt badly, but only for a few secs, followed by feeling very tight. I felt nauseated, and faint. This pattern -or something close to it, repeated itself over and over again, getting more and more painful. I am not sure if I actually fainted or not, because I could have sworn that between the time it started and the time I got to the ER, only 20 min MAX had passed, but I was told between the time I called the hospital (when it first really began hurting) and the time I got there, it had been over 1 hour. I can't remember the phone call- I remember calling, but can't remember the conversation. In fact the entire episode seems like a dream to me- very foggy. I just felt very confused the entire time. My vision was a little blurry (not bad, but I noticed letters on signs were a little off). My jaw didn't hurt, but felt tight and my lips got tingly. My boyfriend said my skin was extremely cold and I looked really pale. Before we left for the hospital, when I was walking out to the vehicle, my upper stomach got a shooting pain through it, and in between my shoulder blades, more towards my left shoulder blade was hurting as well. When I first got to the ER my blood pressure was 75/47, by the time I left 2 hours later, it was 126/75. I have never had problems with my blood pressure before. They told me they don't know what caused this...think maybe it could have been a pinched nerve. They ran some blood tests, took a urine sample and sent me on my way! This all started around 530pm, I was out of the hospital around 830pm. It is now 410am and I can't sleep. I am not feeling well- very nauseated, low energy, and my left arm and shoulder hurt (not the same kind of hurt, just really weak, like very overdone, or strained). I have been just exhausted ever since all of this happened (I was in bed a little after 9pm). What's the deal? Is it possible I had a heart attack and they didn't notice? I don't know what else it could have been! I do have a galstone, and I have had galstone attacks before, but this was not the same. I have never experienced anything like this...very weird, and scary to me. If you have any ideas, please let me know a.s.a.p. as I will be going to a Dr. for a follow-up appointment sometime very soon!
is this a sign of a pinched nerve? So my left hand fingers (not all just my ring and pinky fingers) are tingly, slightly numb. my hand right under my pinky down to the bottom of my hand is also tingly. my elbow hurts, and also tingles. this has been happening off and on the last few days, with today being the longest its been tingly. could i have pinched a nerve or something?
Pains in the right side of my body? So my right arm, hand, ear, side of my face and neck and shoulder all have this annoying pain. It's not like a really painful pain but just like if you touch it it feels bruised or like i've strained the muscle but i haven’t done anything that would cause any bruising or strained muscles AND there isn’t any sign of anything like physical signs, no bruised skin ect... I look completely normal yet i have these weird pains. I was thinking maybe i've pinched a nerve or something but that seems a bit ridiculous to assume that i've pinched nerves in all my right arm, right hand, right ear, right side of face, right side of neck and right shoulder. Does anyone know what this possible could be? I'm a tad worried. Also i occasionally get shooting pain in my ear and hand which last for only like 1 second but it really hurts. I am currently finishing school and in my final year of school. Under alot of pressure with work ect.. I'm right handed and i've been writting out alot of notes resently could this possibly be a contributor to my pain?
Is this a pinched nerve? I went fishing in a canoe yesterday and sadly the canoe flipped with me in it sitting on top of the ice chest. When the canoe flipped, I fell out too, and I landed in a shallow area with lots of rocks. *never am I going fishing like that again* Well, my middle finger was quite sore I just shrugged it off. This morning I woke up from the pain that it was causing. If you touch the bottom of my finger it feels like a bunch of needles are poking me and the pain continues up my finger. There is no bruise or any sign that I did anything to it. What could I have done? Oh, it is also a little swollen where it hurts to touch too. Did I pinch a nerve or something? Thank you so much!
Is this a pinched nerve or a sign on some kind of infection? A few days ago the back left side of my neck was really stiff and hurt a little, but it has been feeling better lately, but now the end of my left middle finger is hurting and feels a little swollen and the my left arm feels strange too. I know it had nothing to do with my heart or blood because just last night I had a blood test done and had my heart and circulation checked and the dr. said I was ok. Why is my finger hurting like this suddenly? It just started today. I am pretty sure it is a pinched nerve because my arms also feel a little weak.
What are the signs of a pinched nerve? I have a sharp pinching pain on my left side of my lower back right above my buttock. I work at a nursing home and I think I strained it helping someone. It doesn't do it all the time only once in awhile. I don't have any pain in my legs or arms so does this mean its not a herniated disc? I have been to my chriopractor and sometimes it helps but this last time not so much so. Sometimes my lower back will have this sensation feeling that will go in and out.I use an ice pack on it and it seems to help but then a few days later it will start back up again.Has anyone else had this problem and can this be corrected?
How do auto insurance prove a false injury claim? My brother inlaw was in a car accident almost 2 wks ago on a thursday nite, he was in a dodge ram 1500, and a neon ran a stop sign and he hit the driver side door of the neon. There was more damage to the neon than the truck, the neons driver side was smooshed in, and the truck had the front hood and grilled dented in about a half of foot, im not sure how to explain the damage. His airbags did not go off, nor did he hit the steering wheel, or have any signs of the seatbelt. He was not complaining he was in any pain the night of the accident so I told him he still should go see a doctor atleast the next day just in case becauseI know whiplash and back pain can take a little while to set in. So the next morning he woke with no signs of injury, no back pain, no limping no nothing. Ofcourse he was unable to go to work the next day because he needed to get checked out, he was worried about losing his pay, I told him I wasnt sure, but maybe he could be reimbursed from the insurance for loss of wages, but I wasnt sure how that worked. So he asked me about a attorney who to call, I told him to go online, and he said "Can u call cuz Im not good at lying" I thought to myselt ok he is full of crap.. So he went to K-clinic that day and started complaing his leg was hurting, then he went to work the day after, came home early limping, said his boss told him to take off until monday. Then mon rolls around and he call his boss says he cant come in he needed a week off, I took him to the k-clinic mon-fri and they never once gave him a note or told him he was incapable of working. On fri I took him he came out said he wanted to switch doctors that theyre saying they cant find anything wrong with his knee, he should go to the er to have more test run since he was in pain. He showed me his knee said it feels like its out of place, needs to popped or a pinched nerve, not sure if those symptoms would be the same. hhmm . So his mom decides to takes him to her doctor, and what do u know, he has a pinched nerve or a lump, knot or something in the back of his calf, (not xrays were done not sure if that was needed) all the doc did was some back and hip popping and I believe may popped his leg, there was some popping going on. Gave him some meds. And bam he is walking like normal running up the stairs like nothing.. Is that possible to heal a pinched nerve or strained muscle that easily? Also the doctor gave him a note for the last week and a half he missed work, hes fine to go back to work tomorrow. I just dont think that sounds right, how can the doctor sign off for him to miss work, when he bearly saw him today, for all he knows the injury if any could have taking place yesterday. I just cant figure out why the other doctor couldnt catch the problem in the first place and he wouldnt prescribe him any meds. I honestly think my mother in laws doctor is a qwack, she goes and comes back telling me some unproffesional weird things. My husband went because he kept having nose bleeds, he just told him it was too much stress in the head. We were like ok, gave him so meds and sent us on our way. But I believe it had something to do with his sinuses and the dry air, we got a humidifier for the bedroom, and problem solved. Im not a doctor, I dont know how they evaluate, thats just my personal opinion. But I do feel like if i went to his office with a fake injury he would find something wrong. I dont know if my brother in law is trying to commint fraud to get possibly more money, I think he just wanted time off his job and wants to get paid for by the insurance. I just want to know if he is lying, i hope he does get caught, that is wrong. If your going to be rude please dont bother commenting.. thanx =) As for roger You sound just like his uncle who is 50 and in and out prison for stealing, and commiting check fraud.. Thats exactly what he said, dont mess up his game let him get all he can get.. Who cares.. I do.. And yes I have been in 2 car accidents, I was rear ended at 40 miles a hr because the lady was on the phone, and I did have upper back and neck pain, went to the chiropractor, got most of the problem solved, but still get pains now and then. I didnt not commit insurance fraud just to get a lil extra cash. My 2nd accident I was in the passenger, and a trucked slammed his braked in the middle of the freeway, we hit him at 60 miles a hr, my friend had to get titanium rods to hold her foot to her ankle and was in the hospital for 3 months., It was horrible. and I walked out with bruises on my knees. My brother in laws truck looked like a little fender bender, Im not saying he didnt suffer any kind of injury, I liv
Ruptured ACL in 9 Year Old Black Lab. Both knees involved? Will the benefit outweigh the discomfort? Please share your stories. My dog has been dx with a ruptured ACL in hind left knee. A couple years ago, I noticed him whimper while trying to get up for a couple days, but walked fine otherwise. Then last Thanksgiving, he whimpered again while trying to move, but hopped up when I grabbed the leash. My family was telling me that this dog was playing me and just wanting attention, but I knew he was hurting. Again, this only lasted a couple days and was back to normal before I could get him to the vet. Last month, again, something happened and he was whimpering while laying down and tried to shift his weight. This time, however, I could tell he was worse than before. He didn't move all night long, so at 4am I took him to the ER vet after a restless night. He was walking ok, but slow. Showed no signs of limping, but his tail wobble told me he was in pain. I thought it was his back or hips, never knew of knee problems in large breed dogs. They took X-rays of his back, just to tell me that this dogs colon was full to the top and hadn't been eliminating his bowels normally. This boy will only do his duty at the dog park ever since we sold our house and live in an apartment. So I was thinking he was just being stubborn. I have since learned that dogs who have pain in the back, hips or knee will choose to not eliminate bowels because they hurt too much to do so. Two weeks ago, after playing at the dog park again, I noticed he was not putting his weight on his rear left foot as he was begging for scraps in the kitchen. Walking was stressed as I could see by watching his tail, but he was putting weight on it while walking and still showed interest in playing with my other dog (which I didn't allow for obvious reasons).I'm thinking he bruised a toe at this point. Five days have passed and I could tell he was feeling better, bearing weight on that rear foot. I tossed him a treat that had his pain meds in it and he jumped up for it, let out the most horrifying yelp and then acted like he was on fire for about a minute, whining and crying. I watched him very carefully for the rest of the night, and he showed no signs of wanting to walk or even get up, so off to the vet that morning. I was told that he ruptured his ACL in the left knee and probably has a tear in his right knee. A second oppinion confirmed this. Although the first vet was told by the radiologist that he did not support this diagnosis and suspected a pinched nerve in the back or hip. My boy was in so much pain that he wouldn't even get up to go outside. He litterally laid on the floor while he pooped (never has he done this in the house before). A week has gone by, and although the Remadyl has helped where he will now get up and go outside, he still limps, whimpers, and whines while walking. He won't hop up on a curb, but does put weight on the leg. So thats where I am at. I feel he will need two knee surgeries just to get him back to normal, or better. Obviously, this is going to be expensive and seeing as I don't have a job, its going to be a challenge. But I won't let money be a part of this decision. My question to you is do you think he will benefit in the long run, or will it be too much for this old guy to handle. He is overweight, which I am so angry at myself about. But everyone who meets him just adores his personality, or is it dogality? This may have been going on for a couple years which would make the likliehood of excess damage more probable. Your thoughts?
Why are my muscles hurting so much for 2 years on the upper back? It all started after sleeping in a bad mattress, then I had to endure headaches that were coming from the neck, and lots of upper back pain, eventually I changed mattress and the pain reduced but didn't go away completely. After two years of chronic pain I went to a doctor who had an MRI taken of my entire neck and back and my spine is in perfect condition and I have no signs of pinched nerves anywhere..... but it's the muscles (espefically the upper back that keeps cramping), the doctor thinks this is the mattress and bad posture..... could this be the cause? I am at the end of the trope!
Pinched nerve in foot? I believe I have a pinched nerve in my ball of the foot? Is this possible and what are the signs to look for?
Pupils, aneurysms, Horners, and headaches ... Oh My!? Two weeks ago I presented to the local ER with pupils of different sizes, the left eye was approximately 2-3 mm larger than the right, but only in dim light. Both eyes responded properly to light. A CT scan was done and was clean. A chest xray completed less than 2 months prior was also clean. Only issue I had was what I thought to be a little infection in my left bronchii as I was coughing up green mucous without fever or other symptoms and a mild headache that developed in the ER (i assumed it was stress) located behind/above the let ear only. Yesterday, as I finished in the gym, I had just gotten in the shower when I began to ache across the left side of my back, into the shoulder, and up into the neck. As I showered I began to stretch my back thinking it was only tense muscles but it got worse, probably a pain level of 4/10. I got out of the shower and again my pupils looked like they were slightly different in the dimmer light of the locker room. My eye doctor had instructed me to return to the ER if it happened again sudden, and this time it seemed I was having droopy eye-lide along with it, another sign she instructed me to look for. When I got to the ER my shoulder/neck/behind my ear were in a static pain state, like everything in the area was clamped down. The doc gave me a complete neuro workup, and told me everything was fine. Eyes normal, no signs of ptosis, and with a clean CT/Xray there was nothing to worry about. She then told me if was likely that it was a pinched nerve in my neck, likely C2-C4, brought on by the coughing fits I had had with the 2.5 week long resp. infection. Now, everything I have read says that pinched nerves won't cause pupil differences. I've had 3 doctors tell me I am "fine" and yet there is still something causing me daily headaches (usually in the evening) and my eyes to be all crazy. The whole ordeal is terrifying me. The thing that is stumping them all is that it is totally transient. Sometimes they are fine, then sometimes they aren't. This last doc said tumor/aneurysm/lung cancer would be causing other issues, and likely wouldn't be transient if they were large enough to cause the nerve compression needed to cause these problems. Also these things were "ruled out" by the CT/Xray. Aortic aneursym was another thing I am worried about as those aren't always visible on Xrays and a head CT doesn't go that low as far as I know. These can cause the majority of my symptoms but would be rare in my early thirties and no family history. Tomorrow I am going to my GP and will most likely see his PA. I want to be a little more educated in what to suggest/talk with her about. When it comes to medicine I am well versed, and I am a firm believer in being educated in what something might be so I know what questions to ask. Any advice you could pass on would be greatly appreciate.
I'm having weird symptoms ever since my car wreck. Anyone else ever felt like this after a wreck or injury? After my car wreck, I have suffered in my jaw. Been exrayed had ct scans and everything is fine. Dr's seem to think my jaw injury is really from a neck strain. I also have severe bruising from pelvic to pelvic (seatbelt injury, I'm sure) but once again everything looks fine. Tonight in my right breast, I felt like I was hgetting stung or bit by something in my bra. I took my bra off and there was no sign of anything. Then my chest and shoulder got hot. Then it felt like cold water was running down my right side of my chest. Does this sound like a pinched nerve or something? I'm supposed to start physical therapy next week for my neck and jaw. The wreck was 9 days ago. Please help, I'm getting worried. I hate to have to call the dr again. I'm afraid they might think I'm trying to get pain pills, but I'm not!!!!!!
Pinched Nerve showing in MRI Scan? If you have had a pinched nerve that was caused you lower back and leg pain then it goes away but get a MRI Scan a month later will it show in the scan that there has been signs of a pinched nerve from the previous month?
Aching in my left arm and left leg is this a sign of peripheral neuropathy HIV carpal tunnel or pinched nerve? I have been having this acheing in my left arm and left leg but my right arm and right leg are perfectly fine this is very strange could this be peripheral neuropathy and I was also wondering could this be a symptom of HIV or could this just be a pinched nerve
Aching in my left arm and tingling in my thumb? Sometimes I get this tingling in my thumb that is temporary then goes away then comes back later and also get this ache in my left arm that can get annoying sometimes I would rate the pain a 3 out of 10 could this be a sign of carpal tunnel HIV A pinched nerve or something I am only 14 years old also my legs ache sometimes
Why is my horse sweating on one side and not the other? So my 4 year old arabian gelding has been sweating normally except for his chest/peck area. Whenever he sweats standing outside from warm weather or during exercise he only breaks out into a sweat on his left peck and NEVER the right one. Now here's the catch....he has a pretty significant scar on his left shoulder from an old wire injury as a yearling...so the scar is on the same side as where he sweats...could they be related? He moves completely sound, ears perked up, not in pain at all. I have considered a pinched nerve but wouldn't there be other signs of discomfort, twitching, irritability? Anybody heard of this or have similar situations with their horses? Thanks! http://condense.it/c94
Pain years after kidney surgery? Lately I've been experiencing some pain on my left side, right where my scar is from a kidney surgery I had after I was born. I had a duplication of the ureters on my left kidney, meaning there was two twisted together where there was only supposed to be one. Surgery fixed it up all nice and neat, even though the kidney is only considered to work at about eighty percent of what a normal one would do. Everything's been fine since then for the last eighteen years, no pain or anything until a couple of months ago. It's not a sharp or stabbing kind of pain, just constant and deep, if that makes sense. Still, it hurts pretty badly, and when it fades it'll leave me nauseous for a couple of hours. I've noticed though that usually it only happens when I'm stressed or haven't had enough sleep. Whenever I haven't slept enough (insomnia) and it aches, when I do fall asleep, the pain will be gone when I wake up. I've been doing a little bit of research and I'm thinking that maybe it has something to do with scar tissue or perhaps even adhesions? I know that scar tissue can build up around or beneath a surgery scar and not show signs of pain or anything until later, and the area where the scar is is a little tighter to the touch than my other side. Could it have something to do with damaged or pinched nerves caught up in the tissue? But if it is scar tissue, then why does it only hurt whenever I'm stressed or haven't slept? I'm not sure of the correlation between the two. So if you could please shed some light on this, I'd be really grateful. Thanks!

I think I have TMJ ? (reasons included)? Okay so I'm 16 years old and I think I have TMJ. I'm not sure though but I'm really concerned about my jaw in the future ( will it cause problems? ) Here are the details that I've gathered so far: - I have no pain or clicking. I know TMJ usually has pain or clicking but I also read that sometimes there isn't any pain or clicking even if you have TMJ - My lower jaw looks recessed (at least to me). My teeth are aligned okay, but my lower jaw feels like it's too far into my neck. - I'm always subconsciously holding my breath. I heard this is related because if I voluntarily push out my jaw, I can breathe a whole lot easier. - I think I have post nasal drip? I heard this is related because I think there's mucus stuck over the top part of the inside of my mouth (the soft part in the back). If I try to swallow it, it's still there, and doesn't go away. ( I had this problem for as long as I remember) - I grind my teeth a lot. I grind it subconsciously sometimes, and the dentist even told my mom one day (during a normal checkup) that I grind my teeth a lot, even in my sleep. - I get sore throats easily. I heard this is related because if your sinus is malformed, then it can cause sore throats a lot (might be related to post-nasal drip too [if I have it] ?) - I used to get ear infections WAY too easily as a kid. I really don't get them anymore but it used to be a killer. - Here's a big one. When I went to the dentist during a normal checkup one day, they said they had to remove my tooth (surgically). They tried to numb me with Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) but it didn't work. They gave me more, but it didn't work. I told them I'm still in pain and they were dumbfounded. They then injected me with some weird stuff and I still didn't get numb. So they injected me more and I finally went numb. They said they never really had to numb someone this much before. For this reason, I think my jaw is causing me to have a pinched nerve, which is why I couldn't get numb. A pinched nerve is a sign of TMJ :/ - I never had braces or anything because the dentists think my teeth are aligned perfectly (they wanted me to wear a retainer when I was younger but after a while they said I didn't need it anymore [idk why] ) - When I was younger, I always kept my mouth open, I heard this can contribute to TMJ (idk about this one though) What are your thoughts? My parents don't know about TMJ and even if I told them that I think I have it, and I want an appointment with a specialist, they'll think it's useless and probably refuse. I don't want problems in my jaw when I'm older, and I really stand firm that if I do have TMJ, and it can be fixed, then my quality of life would get so much better. So what do you think? Do I have TMJ? Or maybe a misaligned Jaw?
My left arm and left leg bothers me, what does that mean? I have arthritis. I also have had heart problems, I take medication for that Atenolol. I have had injury to my back before, it could be a pinched nerve too. I'm 41. My left arm mostly feels like a needle is sticking in the middle of my fore-arm. My left leg feels kind of heavy @ times & it is slow to move when my brain tells it to. I plan to go to the doctor sometime. Right now I can't afford it. Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be? I hope it's not my heart or a sign of a stroke.
Pinched nerve/numb toe? What could be the problem? I'm 17 and just started my first job a few days ago. I'm on my feet for 8 hours a day and since my second day at work the tip and left side of my big toe on my right foot is kind of numb feeling. It doesn't hurt or anything. I've been wearing converses to work and they are definitely not the type of shoe to be wearing. They sort of rub against my toes too. Could that be why? Could it be a pinched nerve or something? I tried looking this up. Everyone said that a numb toe is a sign of diabetes, but it just started after I started my job. I don't think it could be diabetes.. Sometimes it does cramp a little.
why does parts of my body go numb while im asleep? pretty much everyday when i wake up, part of my body is numb, today it was my the right bottom of my face around my mouth, sometimes its my side, my fingers, have even woke up to the back of my head and neck numb. I can't afford to go to the Dr. and im really starting to worry. I'd like to know if its a pinched nerve or maybe a sign of diabetes, or something i havnt even thought of. Thanks in advance.
Should I go to the E.R or do I just have a pinched nerve? So I've been having soreness in my arm like right where you get a flu shot and it feels like a flu shot but it's been swelling and stinging and getting more and more painful and swollen and it's getting more and more difficult to move my arm. This has been progressively getting worse for about a week now. I havent had a flu shot or any shots recently so is it a spider bite or just a pinched nerve?? There are no signs of a bite or discoloration in my arm. Should I go to the doctor?? Does anyone have any idea what this is?? Any dumb a*s answers will be flagged and reported thank you very much :)
