possible pinched nerve in left arm? ok i had some chest pressure the other day, so i went to the ER... my blood pressure was taken, and i had an EKG, everything came out perfect. i have pulled a muscle in my chest. my left arm is hurting though.. on the other side of my elbow, it feels like a deep sting/pinch. i got it shortly after they took my blood pressure at the hospital. could this be a pinched nerve? if so, how do i take care of it?

People say I have a pinched nerve in my arm? I never had a pinched nerve in my arm before so I don't know what it feels like. But I don't think this is what it is. In the upper part of my left arm is sore. It feels like I have been lifting weights over and over again, so it feels like a sore muscle. But every so often I get a shooting pain and my arm falls asleep instently. The feeling doesn't last long. My arm doesn't even hurt as in like bad pain, it's just an annoying feeling I would like to go away. But every since I got this, my legs and feet twich,I get what is almost like a sinus headache, and upset stomachs because the soreness kind of makes me sick. I put a icy hot pack on my arm overnight, it feels good when it's on but when I take it off it comes back again... Could this really just be a pinched nerve and if it is what should I do about?

could i possibly have a pinched nerve in my arm? Around a month or two ago i was straightening my hair when suddenly my left arm in the elbow-ish area hurt whenever i lifted my arm. It kept doing that all day. Then my arm never really did that untill this week, and now 24/7 i can't lift my arm without my arm hurting extremely bad, my hand is numb, i cant feel very well with that hand, and my spine also hurts when i use my arm. Sometimes my right arm does this, but not very much. Also even when i'm not moving my arm it kind of throbs with pain, but it doesn't hurt as bad as when i move it.

Arm numbness, headaches, muscle spasms - a pinched nerve? I pinched a nerve in my neck on October 31st this year. It is now December 15th, and I'm pretty sure my neck is still irritated. I slept on a hard floor on November 21st, which I'm pretty sure irritated the pinched nerve. Then a couple of weeks later, I slept weird again at a friend's house, so that could've irritated it more. However, last night I could not sleep because my left arm felt like it was going numb. It was tingly and heavy. However, it never went completely numb. It also started just slightly in my right arm a few hours later. I also kept getting these little muscle spasms or twitches all over my body- legs, arms, lower back above my hips, etc. Plus I get daily headaches. Some are worse than others, and some last longer than others, but otherwise they happen daily. All of these things have been happening since I slept on the hard floor on Nov. 21st. My arm/hand goes numb...is it a pinched nerve? I will wake up several times during the night to my whole left arm & hand being asleep. I've never had this problem before. If I sit and hold my arm a certain way it'll start to go back to sleep after I'm up. Also, during the daytime I feel a very dull throbbing sensation down my arm to my middle & ring finger mostly & sometimes including my index finger. It makes my hand very weak. I've looked up symptoms of carpal tunnel and it does seem to mimick the symptoms except for the knotted spot that aches in my back shoulder area. Thats why I still think its a nerve pinched.

Pinched nerve in back maybe? Odd sensation on left side? I have had odd sensations for the past 4 hours on the left side of my body. It is only in the left lower leg below the knee, and in my left arm below the elbow to the finger tips, and even the left side of my head feels different. Its not painful it is just very disconcerting... It isn't numb but it feels like maybe 1/4 asleep if that... just barely. And it is also strange that it isn't my whole left side, just parts of it... what nerve pinch could do this? No tingling, no pain, no inflammation. I am a 23 year old male and I'm worried this could be something more serious like MS or another nerve disease that originates in the brain since my head is involved. I feel like a nerve is being pinched in my neck. What could it be? I stayed home today because this morning I got a bad pain in my neck. Hi, I have had a weird numb spot on the left center of my back just below my left shoulder blade, it has been that way for a while and I always wondered if it was a pinched nerve. Today I am experiencing pain on the skin where the numb spot was and the pain/odd sensation is starting to run down my left arm. I have weakness in my arm as well and I feel kinda funny. Hi, After seeing my Doctor and getting an MRI it turns out my cervical spine is straightened and I have 2 bulging discs at the base of my neck and some minor bulges showing in the mid back. I work in a warehouse, have been for 9 years, so it's just wear and tear. I believe my Doctor said it's possible that the bulging discs at the base of my neck are touching some of the nerves and that's why the numbness was there and got worse, went away... turned painful etc... Because the discs are touching different nerves at different times. I am going to see a chiropractor and spine specialist and get this fixed. Thanks for all your answers!

what can i do to treat a pinched nerve? I already go ttested and it is in my left arm, the doc says no weightlifting that involves me bending my elbow, but that is every workout. I am wondering if there is any special natural treatment I can do to make it better.

Pain and stiffness in my left arm neck shoulders back, alot of headaches and I've been to my doctor already,? she gave me meds for inflamation which isn't working. My husband thinks it's a pinched nerve, but my right arm does not even swing when I walk. I have not hurt myself or been injuried. Whats the best way to treat a pinched nerve in my neck? When I was younger I lifted a heavy item wrong and I felt something 'pop' in my neck. Even since I would get excruciating pain along the left side of neck and the pain would radiate down my left arm. It hurts so much that I can't turn my head to left or right. The pain will last for about 2 -3 days and then I'll be completely OK. It usually comes back when I sleep crooked or every 6 months. The only thing I do to make it better is rest and take lots of pain killers (i.e., Tylenol and ibuprofen) I'd appreciate any help to alleviate this pain.

I was in a car accident (head-on collision) and after the paramedics pulled me from my left arm, because my left leg was stuck beneath the dashboard, my arm was not moving at all. I couldn't do anything with it, and i had severe pain in my left shoulder. I have went for all the tests and my nuerologist said that my left arm has a lot nerves damaged. She sent for a neck and spine MRI to see if there is anything wrong on the neck or spine. She did not find anything wrong, just very little damage. Now all she said is that I have to continue Occupational therapy. i want to know what is the cure for my left shoulder. i have weird pain in my left arm. could it be leading to a heart attack? my left arm sometimes hurts like right at the elbow. it only hurts for about 10 seconds and then goes away. it started last night. then again this afternoon. and again this evening. this doent mean im going to have a heart attack does it? im too young for heart attacks im only 20!!!! could it just be a pinched nerve? i dont have any health insurance for a doctor. anyone know what could be going on?

Can a herniated or damaged disc causing a pinched nerve be seen on an xray? My xrays were normal except for various misalignments, I had an MRI of the cervical spine and am awaiting results. Can an xray detect disc damage? Are there other neck problems they could find in an MRI? I have frequent headaches, stiff neck and numbness/tingling in my left arm. Bad back pain as well.

Do I have a pinched nerve or a strained/pulled muscle? I woke up this morning with severe pain in my left trapezius muscle region. I can't tell whether it's the muscle or the nerves in that area. What could be the cause of sharp pains in my left arm, followed by dizzines? Never happened before? I experienced sharp pains in my right lower arm, between my wrist and elbow. It hurt so bad that I became worried. It has never happened before. I became anxious, dizzy, felt as though I was going to pass out, and my blood pressure was severely elevated. I went to the Dr. and everything seemed normal, but they had some concern about an EKG that was done. They say it may just be a pinched nerve, but also referred me to a specialist to have a stress test done. I have lived a very sedentary lifestyle for the past 8 years or so, haven't had the best eating habits, smoke socially and dring alcohol regularly...beer, wine. Thanks. Pinched Nerve or Spontaneous Pneumothorax? I had a spontaneous pneumothorax about 6 weeks ago. this was confirmed with a ct scan using injected dye. it felt like i had another 2 weeks later so was sent off for chest x-rays. these came back clear - no shadows/infections etc. it felt like i had another today so off i went to the doctors. he poked and proded and asked the various questions. i was diagnosed by physiotherapy few years back that i am slighly hyper-mobile in my joints after an injury to one of my finger joints at work. the doctor said my shoulder blade move quite a bit and the said it was a pinched nerve causing the pain in the chest making it feel like a lung collapse. The last 2 i was doing housework, using my left arm which is the side i feel the pain on everytime. but the first which was definitely an SP i was asleep and it was around 2 in the morning i woke with pain. anyone else think this is the likely reason or has someone else experienced these symptoms and found out it was something serious? Upper arm muscle pain on raising it upwards on the side. Pinched nerve? Knotted muscle? For some time I have had pain when raising up my right arm out to the side (but NOT when I raise it in FRONT of me). I am thinking I may have a pinched nerve or knotted muscle in my shoulder or neck or upper back somewhere (I often sleep on my right side). Any expert out there know which muscle or nerve it might be, or have any other suggestions? I had this on my left side years ago but was not happy with the treatment I reiceived because it only got much worse until I couldn't lift my arm at all (at which point they had to resort to a cortisone shot) ! So I hesitate to engage the formal medical community on this issue. Thanks for any suggestions, info.

Pinched nerve in my elbow? Hi I was just wondering what to do for what I think is a pinched nerve in my left elbow. Whenever I straighten my arm fully there is a shooting pain in the top of my elbow when the palm is facing up. I was at work where I lift heavy boxes and when I went to reach for the door handle I first felt the stabbing pain in my elbow I was just wondering what I could do to get rid of it Any remedies would be awesome! Left arm, hand pain, not sure what to do? I have had a soreness, pressure type, radiating pain in my left arm and it goes to my fingers sometimes, it hurts worse when i move it but does hurt a little when i am resting it, i went to the ER last night and they did heart enzyme tests to rule out anything cardiac related, but i am still a little worried, maybe it is a pinched nerve! what do you think i also wanted to point out that i have a regular cardiologist and have had alot of testing in the past few years that has ruled out any heart disease.

medical help with my left arm? from december to the middle of january, my right and left arm just started throbbing in pain when they were in certain positions. it went away, and has since come back in my left arm. i figured they were pinched nerves, but usually those dont come back so quickly. now the pain is in my left arm, from the lower shoulder to the very upper arm. the pain comes and goes, but it is very sharp pain when it does come, even if my arm is still. when i put it in certain positions, then there is consistent pain. anything would help, and obviously i cant see a doctor until tomorrow, but i would like to see what you guys think it might be I'm 19, and work concessions at oracle arena in Oakland, ca. No heavy lifting. I'm thinking it could be a torn muscle because this time around it seems to be consistent, irritating/throbbing pain when just still and not moving. But we'll see. Thanks

I have been diagnosed with spinal stenonosis, also have 2 prolapsed discs, with L5s1 nerve being pinched .? I have been diagnosed only today with spinal stenosis, causing extreme pain down my left arm, numbness, tingling & loss of feeling.I also have a rupture between 4th& 5th lumbar disc now for 12yrs.In April I was diagnosed with another ruptured disc in L5/S1 lower region of my spine, which now seems to be causing (Spinal Stenosis).Has any one gone through a similiar experience,as I would like to know what treatments/operations you might have had for any one of these problems.I am awaiting a Spinal operation to rectify the pinched nerve, that causes severe Sciatic Pain down my left leg.This is a genuine question, I would really appreciate geniune answers only please.I live in Australia, so I was wondering if there were some different treatments that may have been suggested, or treated with a positive outcome.I am at a young age , & having to endure this is extremely hard.Any doctors on line if you have any input, also would be gratefully appreciated.Thanks .

felt a pop in the bend of my left arm and now there is pain in arm and tingling in my fingers when i bend it? was at work and my index finger got caught in tape despencer i jerked my finger out and i felt a pop in the bend of my arm.i had surgery for carpal tunnel and this did not help the pain in my arm when it is bent.i had a nerve study doe and it shows no pinched or irritated nerve.

Stroke, pinched nerve? What could it be? I had something wierd happen yesterday. I am 28 so I am too young to have a stroke I think. I was walking and got a sudden severe headache running up the back of my head. Ten minutes later I was driving home and my left arm totally went numb for 5-10 minutes then has improved. Is this a pinched nerve & how do I sort it? On Tuesday night I developed an aching, stretchy pain from my left shoulder/upper back stretching up the side of my neck. I have had some pain in my left arm- fuzzy.The pain gets worse if I turn my head one way, but is ok to turn the other way. My muscles were quite bunched up and tight that day (traffic and football). Heat seems to relieve it temporarily and it responds to ibuprofen. Have had it 2 full days now and sick of it. Any ideas?

ICD and left arm pain? Six months ago I got an ICD implanted without complications. I was told not to move much my left arm for the first three weeks, which I did. But after that and still now, I have a pain in the left arm when doing some movements. Sometimes, it wakes me up at night. The pain is only at a certain angle of movement and feels like if a nerve is being pinched in the arm's joint at the shoulder. My heart doctor at the hospital is hard to contact and my GP is probably not much acquainted with this. Should I exercise my arm or just wait and hope it goes away? Thanks in advance. Pinched nerve or worse? I just don't know. My left arm has been troublesome for a few weeks and now my right a little. Pressure, pain, tingling.. I went to the ER a few weeks ago and the doctor didn't think it was a cardiac episode..... but I just don't understand this. Can a pinched nerve cause these things, like in the neck? I'm 34 and in good shape, non-smoker etc. Maybe anxiety is making it worse.

How to treat pinched nerve in arm? Will heat help ease the pain of a pinched nerve or herniated disc in the neck? I have been in severe pain for almost 4 months from what I believe is a herniated disc or discs in my neck that is pinching a nerve. My doctor is not being very helpful and I cannot afford to go else where. She gave me prednisone but that only made me feel 100 times worse and I am a diabetic and it made my sugars out of control. I take 3-6 ibuprofen every 6-8 hours but it doesn't seem to really help. I don't know if heat or ice is better. Someone once told me that heat will bring blood to the area and make it worse. The pain is in my neck,shoulder, arm and shoulder blade all on the left side. I am tempted to try to get painkillers from a friend that's how bad it is. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Last night I awoke by numbness in left arm, trouble breathing, slight dizziness, what does can this mean? I'm in perfect health, no joint or back problems, and I work out at least 5-6 days a week. Last night I awoke in deep sleep by trouble breathing, my left arm felt numb and cold, kind of like when you hit your funny bone and you feel pints and needles. It didn't go away throughout the night and I was never able to get back to sleep. I was really freaked out. It felt less severe after being awake for a few mins and I didn't experience trouble breathing after I awoke. I wasn't sleeping on my arm, but on my back and perfectly positioned with 2 pillows supporting head and neck. Now being up for about 10 hours or so, my neck in the front has been bothering me all day (more towards the center, behind the wind pipe). Some say it can be a pinched nerve, others say it has something to do with all the working out, and/or say it could be a sign to a more serious injury or illness. Please help.

Pinched nerve in left arm due to lung cancer vs regular pain? Ok I'm scared that I have lung cancer. I've been smoking a pack a day for 8 years now. I know, I'm going to do everything to quit now. I realized I've had a pain in my left shoulder/upper back/left of the armpit area for about a month now with no injury or cause. I can't seem to figure out if its a pinched nerve due to lung cancer or just a pulled muscle due to sleeping wrong (I did wake up last week with my entire left arm numb because i slept on it). Basically I feel the pain when I stretch and lift my arm to the side. I feel no pain if I do the same motions in front of me. Only to the side. I can't locate the pain. I feel the "pull/pain" right above my shoulder and on my upper back, but only if I make these motions or lift heavy things. Well actually it hurts more now, but I guess because I spent an hour yesterday trying to move it to all different angles to locate the pain I am going to see a doctor in a week. I just want to know so I can calm myself. Should I take some Ibuprofen? How would pinched nerve pain differ? I am 21(female) when I was 11 I broke my left elbow afterwards every now and then it would hurt up till I was 15 at 16 I fell down some stairs and hit a nerve in my hip (on left side also) and suffer from siatick (or however its spelled) nerve damage at 19 I fell and re hurt both my hip and elbow at 19 again I was in a minor car accident and fractured a disk in my spin now at 21 my left ARM will randomly go numb and before it goes numb it feels like something is pinched really bad it usually flares up worse when my hip is hurting but its also possible I tore something at the gym (I'm training to be a police officer) but something just isn't right it makes me have a panic attack because I think I'm about to have a heart attack because your left ARM hurts when your about to have a heart attack but I'm just wondering what you think could it be from all the injuries I've had in the past leading up to now and possibly causing nerve damage in my ARM or does it sound more like I tore something when I was working out? Pinched nerve in my left shoulderblade area/elbow? So like 3 days ago i woke up almost cripple. I had to lie lift my neck with my heands and wobble out of bed because i had this pinched nerve from sleeping wrong/funny. This has happened in the past 3 years like 2 other times, the last time I got a new pillow and ive been fine since then, but my girlfriend often uses it since its the 'new one' and she goes to sleep with wet hair im not sure if that or a combination of us both using it (we work diff shifts) kinda lowered the quality and this is a reason why. Anyway.so for the past 3 days ive been running on like 3-4 hours a sleep a day because i cant sleep comfortably. I dont really take medicine and i dont like to go to doctors/hospitals nor can I afford them. So im trying to just work it out/wait it out like i have in the past. After being up i have decent movement aside from like bending over and lifting my left arm in certain ways i can go almost pain free. The problem is despite all the little exercises/stretches im doing with my neck/shoulders/arms when i go to sleep its like im restarting every day. i wake up super stiff the pain is bad and i have to go straight to a hot shower to alleviate the pain/loosen me up. I do use a heating pad off and on throughout the day and even have taken it to work. I bought icy hot , but due to the cold weather my skin is really dry and it burns to use it so ive discontinued to do so - as per directions. As i mentioned in the title the pain is mostly in the shoulderblade region, but it shoots all the way to my left elbow and almost wrist. Aside from going to a doctor etc.. does anyone know anything i can do to help get this to pass quicker? Sleeping techniques so i can actually sleep longer than 3 hours (im guessing this is another reason why im not healing faster because my body isnt asleep to do so.) Ive tried sleeeping on my back even supporting my neck with my hands. On my side (right side not to put pressure on my left) and stomach. Unfortunately the girlfriend cant give a massage for more than a minute or two to help work it out so ive been trying to rub y neck and shoulders when i can especially during the hot shower when the pain isnt as bad. Im thinking of going to get a massage in a couple days if it doesnt start getting better, but any tips / help would be welcome! (sorry for repeating/ranting, im just really tired and frustrated)

I get this painful feeling in my left arm, it feels as if all the pain is right below the main vein in the middle of your arm. I'm 15 years old. I've had this pain before but it doesn't happen very often. the vein that hurts is the one that is.Right in the middle of where your arm bends. Whenver I put pressure on it or bend it, it hurts preatty bad. It hurts kinda bad and I want to know or at least get an idea of what might be causing it the pain isa4 out of 10. Numbness in left arm? I am a healthy 19 year old girl with no other symptoms so I doubt its a heart attack lol Basically since last night, periodically my left arm (from the elbow to the hand) keeps getting a feeling like it is starting to fall asleep, but it never actually does. Left arm pain, hand pain that goes into my fingers? I woke up in the middle of the night about 2 weeks ago because my left hand felt like pins and needles horribly. Ever since then there has been a constant achein my forearmnmy hand goes cold and then turns painful, it hurts to move my arm. I use my left arm and it feels kind of numb with pain that feels like carpel tunnel in the hand and isn't super painful but I know it's there. I do it frequently and use that arm and seem to think with the repetitive motions it could be a pinched nerve. I also have acid reflux sometimes and it flares up when I eat late. I had indian food at 2am last night then tried to go to sleep. Couldn't sleep, the pinched nerve in my arm and acid reflux bubbling felt like I was having a heart attack haha, but I tend to over exaggerate I've been a hypochondriac for most of my life the doctor always says I have paranoia lol. Is this a muscle spasm in my left shoulder blade or a pinched nerve?! HELP!? I've had this problem for about a year now. It feels like what I would think a pinched nerve. Its a pain (ANNOYING sharp kinda achey pain) in my left shoulder blade, maybe underneath it. I can't really pinpoint the area exactly unless I rub on it. I get some relief when I push on it or rub on it. I get tingles in that spot and the tingles go down my left arm like towards my pinky. Sometimes I get tingles in my left hip and left leg too.. It's weird, Went to the doc in Aug last year. Said it was muscles spasms. Went to the doctor today bc the pain is getting worse. She said the same thing -- muscles spasm. Wants me to get an x-ray just in case. Sent me home with Soma 350mg (muscles relaxer)... Does this sound like a pinched nerve or a muscle spasm? Should I Get a 2nd opinion? Any advice would be wonderful!! It hurts. :(( No OTC meds work, or ice or heat. Nothing. Except pressure and rubbing it. Thanks!!

Left arm numb for a few seconds? I was just sitting watching TV and all of a sudden my left arm goes completely numb. I did not have chest pains and my arm would tingle when I touched it. I was not dizzy and I could talk normal and understand what was being said. It only lasted for like a minute and for another 10 minutes I had a small blurry squigle thing in my eye. I think this might have been just a pinched nerve or something, but I do not know if it could have been a mini-stroke or whatever it is called.
