pinched nerve, lower back left side ? i have had this lower back left side pain for about 6 months now and my doc say it was muscle spasm after he looked at x-ray, and now i have been on anti-iflimation drug apo-meloxicam 15 mg for 2 months , it has helped the pain go away alot, but there's still some pain and does not seem to be going away, how can i make sure this is not a pinched nerve or something other then muscle spasm, what should ask my doctor?
us army back spasm or pinched nerve lower back? ive been in the army about 9 months now. my lower back got messed up in basic. the pain got so bad that i could barely move without crying. it was like a 12 on the pain scale. ive been bugging the army about this ever since to confirm wat it is and wat to do about it. the first doctor thought it was a pinched nerve. the second thought it was a skeletal disfunction which i have ruled out from xray. my current army doctor thinks it might be a spasm. it gets worse and hurts everytime i wear the IBA. during a month long deployment my back got messed up in the humvee from wearing it after not even 5 days. i was out for the rest of the deployment on profile. everytime i wear it it hurts my back worse. i cant even stand straight for more than 10 minutes without it starting to hurt. and we are suppose to deploy for a year soon. and i keep asking them if i cant wear the IBA for even 5 days and not get messed up how am i suppose to wear it for 365? they dont listen. all they keep doing is giving me motrin and a profile which i hate. i wanna know wahts wrong wit me. finally after bitching at my LT doctor for about half an hour i got him to give me physical therapy, pain management, an xray and an MRI and i demanded to speak to the brigade surgeon about it for a second opinion. he has agreed to see me once the MRI has been done. ive talked to doctors back home and they said the MRI will confirm everything and we can take it from there. also they wanna send me to a psychiatriast for depression, sleeping problems and memory loss (which i really have had). what can i do when the mri comes up? what are my options? what if they tell me nothing is wrong with it which is bullshit? cause there is no way i can deploy. i want to but if my back gets fucked up again during a firefight that could put my team and battle buddys at risk and i do not want to do that to them. what can i do? okay so lets say i get a confirmed diagnosis from the mri for a pinched nerve or spasm. then what?

It usually goes away, on its own, over a period of time, but is there a faster method to this madness? Yes, I "know" I spelled "kno" incorrectly. Sorry guys. Please help me with the task at hand! Thanks for all the good advice! The best thing was walking around, even though I REALLY didn't want to do it.

Today i was lying down somewhat awkwardly, and it happened in an instant. This was about 2 hours ago and im still having trouble standing up straight, I look like an old man with a hunch back. What should I do? It usually goes away but this is the longest its stayed. Should i get it checked it out by a physiotherapist or something? Because i dont want it to become a serious problem
What To Do About Pinched Nerve In Lower Back? While on a long flight overseas in Sept. 2008, I developed a pinched nerve near the S1 vertabrae in my lower back. I saw a doctor about it & an EEG and MRI were done and that is how the diagnosis was made. Apparently there were no issues with the disc. I was told I have arthritis starting in my lower back as well. I was given muscle relaxers and told it may or may not get better with time and there was really nothing more to be done about it. It has not got better. I still cannot sit for very long before my legs, particularly the right leg, start to tingle, all the way down into my foot. I also have what feels like a knot on the right side of my lower back that never goes away. I've tried physical therapy and everyday I stretch to try to keep loose. I went to a chiropractor in the beginning and on the 3rd visit he scared me off by hurting my sternum when he tried to do an adjustment while I was lying on my side. I've not been back to a chiropractor since. I'm concerned that as I age (I'm 48 now), this will develop into a bigger problem if it's not corrected. What can I do? I should add that I do not live in a large metropolitan area and there are no acupuncturists or other alternative practitioners nearby, so trying something like that is not practicable.
Pinched Nerve in lower back? My back had been hurting for over a week now. I went to a chirpractor and got x -rays. He says I have a pinched nerve. He also said how I have to go three times a week for 18 visits to correct the problem. Is this a bit much, id there a better option? I need advice!

Having surgery on pinched nerve in back? My mom has a pinched nerve in her lower back and she's having surgery this week. She's tried other things and taken pain meds, but nothing has helped. I'm just a little worried about her and how long will she be in recovery?
Where can i find home remedies for the lower back and pinched sciatic nerve.? I have little-no money and my boyfriend pulled his lower back so bad that he wound up going to chiropractor. He was walking when he went in and by the time he got home, he could barely walk. He's got a pretty high tolerance for pain, and can't take any muscle relievers that aren't prescribed by a Dr. for him. he has been down and in bed for almost 5 days now. The longest I have helped him around the house was maybe 4 hours, and that 'bout got the best of him. Is it possible that the chiropractor could have done more damage than good?

Pinched Nerve in Lower Back-why steroid shots? I am suffering at this Point! I 've had this now about the 6th time, just last year 5 times and since this past Friday! Every time I go to the Doctor, he gives me a steroid shot and liquid Painkiller- which knocks me of my feet! And I just hate to ask anyone for help to drive me there and drive me home! In any case I hate to be so dependent- I have three Teens- need to be on top of things all the time all the way! The Pain is terrible! Very uncomofortable! I have arthritis in my back , all the way from my lower back to the spine! Ok, first of all why the steroid shot and what else can I do in the long run, or does the athritis have lots to do with the acute situation? I have asked the Professionals- but their answers are always vage! (Military Doctors- not all of them are bad- but restrained with time- so it always has to be with a rush!) Really, I want to know - what can I do in the longrun or how can I avoid this from ever happening again? Any chance at all? I thank each and everyone for all the Info! Really good Points and easy explained, thank you! For the last Poster{Gillianprowe}...I am 40 yrs. old, had several Test done also MRI etc. Years of lower/Back pain had me running all over the Place! I just didn't think I had to describe my entire medial history here othere than the ovious selfexplanatory question ! But thanks for your effort! Most of the answers helped me quit a bit! I did get 2 shots in the Military ER (my husband took me) one for the Pain and one non steroid antiflammatory shot! The Pain is almost gone and I feel so much better. I have set up Phsyical Theraphy Sessions for the Future! Because I know this is only temporary! Thanks to all of you! I really appreciate your input!
Pinched nerve in the lower back.? Is there something I can do to heal this pinched nerve in my lower back? It's been about two months. At first, the left buttocks hurt really bad. It feels better now, but it still hurts. So is there something I can do to get rid of it? Besides going to the doctor. Self therapy basically. I got it from playing tennis. I'm pretty sure it's not a kidney infection. It can't bend or twist without hurting.

Immediate relief for pinched nerve in lower left back. And should I be worried that they put me on steroids? About two weeks ago i started getting this awful back pain in my lower left back right above my buttocks. I went to my normal doctor who said i should just take ibuprofen for 5 days straight. Then he said if that didn't work go to a chiropractor. 5 days past and it wasn't completely gone but got better so my mother insisted on taking me to the chiropractor. When he saw me he said i had a pinch nerve and gave me adrenocortical steroids (MethylPREDNISolone Tablets, USP). He said i'm not allowed to take ibuprofen while on the steroids. I'm in so much pain and i've tried everything from the creams to the liquids. And to make matters worst i've been sleeping on my right side so much that i've got a stiff neck. I only got 2 hours of sleep last night. Please help me...i'm meeting my fiance's mother today.
I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. no more burning sensation?? I have a pinched nerve at the L5/S1. I have weakness in my left leg and tingling and numbness too. I used to get these burning sensations that ran down my leg to my foot and now I don't get them anymore. I don't know what this means. It's been 8 months and no treatment yet from the Army. Can someone explain this to me and tell me what I should do next? I have already had 3 months physical therapy and 3 back injections. I don't know what else I could get done other than surgery.
Does anyone know how to help a pinched nerve feeling in my back? I'm a gymnast and last year I hurt my back ( rotated my pelvis) and my back has never been the same. I always have a little back pain, but for the last two weeks my back has been killing me. I hurts to walk, run, turn over , bend over and everything else. It feels like I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. I have been to the chiropractor, but that didn't help. I 've done ice packs and heat pads, icy hot, and nothing works. I really need my back not to hurt so I can get on with my routines. Does anyone have any suggestions?? By the way none of my coaches have been able to help me.
Lower back pain/pinched nerve? For about the last 5 months or so my girlfriend has had bad lower back pain. She doesn't have it all the time, but gets it quite regularly. She seems to get it if she sits or stands too long. It also seems to be worse around her period. It also will just happen randomly. At first she just had horrible back pain one day and ended up going to the hospital. They did all sorts of tests and found nothing. They gave her some pain killers and told her it should go away. Well it hasn't... She has since been to the chiropractor numerous times. This seems to help for about a day, but the pain will end up coming back. She is thinking of trying physical therapy next. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.
Best Solution for a pinched nerve in the lower back? ive had lower back pain for the past 9 years. im pretty convinced its a pinched nerve because it sends out a sorta shock wave of pain through out my back. ive gone to doctors who have all taken x rays witch nothin has shown up, but to my understanding a pinched nerve only would show up in a mri. im 20 years old so when i go to the doctor they just sorta jerk me around and just treat me like im seeking drugs. they have even played tricks on me to see if im lying or not. i havent gone to a doctor in over a year and a half cause ive just lost all hope. i dont like taking any over the counter medicine because it can seriuoslyhurt your stomach. WHAT SHOULD I DO? im in so much pain all the time i seriously feel like dying at times. i cant fall asleep ever i just get outa bed and strut around the house. no seat in my house can comfort my pain. its the most anoyying thing in my life. any advice?
how can i relieve a pinched nerve in my lower back? The pain is way down in my lower back - like beyond the spine and into my tailbone area. It definitely doesn't feel like a sore muscle issue, so all I can assume is that it's a pinched nerve - but it doesn't really radiate into my legs at all. It's more across my back and hips.. It hurts BAD! No sitting, standing, or laying position helps the pain (so obviously I didn't sleep well last night!)...and if I move certain ways (a lot of ways) the pain "bites" very sharply and I have to stop moving for a second. I have no idea what to do or how this happened, but I can't make it through a full day like this! Is there anything I can do to help it go away???
pinched nerve in lower back? i've been having a tingling sensation in my lower back. i was afraid it could be a kidney infection but i'm not throiwng up, my urine is clear and feels fine with nostinging. i have been sitting awkwardly lately when im on the computer or play video games. could that have done something to my lower back? ive always been gettign cramps in side from the pinched nerve?
Pinch Nerve Lower Back? i have a pinched nerve on my lower back. it is the beginning of baseball season, so i was wondering how long would it take to heal? i am going to rest Sunday and i will be going to practice but not participating, just sitting and watching.
Pinched Nerve lower back.. help.? I have what I believe to be a pinched nerve in my lower back, left side. Im finding it extremely painful to stand up, walk or stand. But sitting down and lying down doesn't hurt, although I can feel a pressure sensation where the pain is upon standing. I've had to take the day off work because it hurts to much and I work standing up all day. How can I fix this as I cant take more days off work?
Pinched Nerve in lower back? About 2 years ago i had a pinched nerve in the upper lumbar part of my spine. It went away with some chiropractic therapy and rest. Since then i irritated it a couple more times, not even sure how, it just happened at odd times and the pain was terrible. Recently however (over the last 6 months) it has just been at bay but getting a little worse over time. Recently it started to cause my left leg to ache and muscle knots along the left side of my lower back and butt. It would be nice to know if anyone else has something like this. I will be going to the doctor once hes back from vacation however some advice would be nice now. I'm only 22 and I am pretty active (Gym 5 days a week for running/some weight training). Also just in the last couple days I have had a warm sensation over that lumbar area of my back. Any help is appreciated. Also I forgot to mention i have had countless visits to an acupuncturist and multiple massages but it seems the muscles around that area are trying to tense up to protect the nerve. problem is a massage only gives relief for a day or two. The pain is also just a dull pain. It seems my exercise and stretching etc. has kept it from becoming a huge pain, but at the same time I can't do all my exercises at full strength because I don't want to hurt back more.
Have I slipped a disc or have I pinched a nerve in lower back? Yesterday morning I bent over to get my shoes to go to work, and a sharp shooting pain went through my lower back. It was so intense that I couldn't breathe. It went away in about a minute but there was still a painful leftover feeling. I went to go to work, the pain in my lower back went progressively worse. We were unloading a warehouse truck and my back totally seized up, making me cry from the pain and ultimately paralyzing me for about 2 minutes straight. After that, I went home and promptly went to bed, after being able to stretch my back and bring my knees to my chest. Last night I had to crawl to get anywhere after being hunched halfway over and my back seizing up from that. My back is fine while I'm laying down either on my back, on my sides or on my stomach, but when I try to change positions, the pain comes back and it is still stabbing. Massaging my lower back helps enough to make the pain dull and burning instead of throbbing. I've read information on slipped discs or herniated discs or even pinched nerves but I can't figure out what I have. I'm going to a doctor in the morning to get this diagnosed but I'm really worried in the meantime. Any thoughts or help would be VERY appreciated, thanks in advance.
Pinched nerve in lower back, and out of my country...? Ok... So I live in Mexico City. No health insurance because everyone pays in cash here at the time of the visit to the doctor. I am an American. I have a pinched nerve caused by a bulging disk in my lower back. The pain goes from my lower right side of my back all the way to my foot. I can not sleep, crap, sit, stand, nothing. It is the worst pain I have ever felt. What can I do? Should I go back to America for a surgery? Or will the pain just go away on it's own eventually? I have had the pain for 2 years and it gradually gets worse as it comes and goes. I need some really good ideas here. Oh, and I can not stretch because the nerve hurts 10 times worse when I do. Is there ANYTHING I CAN DO!!!????
Pinched nerve in lower back? I have had extreme pain behind my left leg for about five months and ever since a few weeks ago, doctors had no idea what it was. recently, the pain is starting to shoot up and down my whole leg but I am not feeling any numbness or tingling? I also when to a doctor that felt around my hip area and said that area has a lot of spasms and it is as hard as a rock although i don't feel any pain from it, although when i even gently push my finger down on that area, it hurts a lot. Does this sound like a pinched nerve in my lower back and if it is, what are possible treatments for it? Does this sound like a pinched nerve and what are possible treatments for it? p.s. It was very mild pain at first and it got progressively worse and worse as time went on. I am now walking on an extreme limp
Pinched nerve in lower back? (an apology for bad grammar, its 1 am and im typing this on my phone) A few weeks ago, i pinched a nerve sitting weird in class. My chiro fixed, and i havnt sat like that since. However, at dinner tonight (or last night, i guess) i actaully tried to sit up straight. Nothing happened then, but as i was walking later that evening, i got a dull but quick pain in the my lower back. Some strange, made-up stretches helped it temporarily, but now its worse and messing with my head. I keep thinking that im going to become paralyzed from the waist down and need to go to the ER. Yes, crazy, but its late and im a minor hypochondriac. Here's the punch line: i dont have enough money to go to the chiro until january. I dont think i can handle this that long. Is there anything i can do (besides pain killers, they dont work for me) to manage/fix this problem?
Lower back pain from pinched nerve? I've had severe lower back pain for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks, my right leg went numb and tingly but the back pain was almost all gone. After a trip to the ER, they said it was a pinched nerve. Afterwards, my right leg hurt to walk in the hip/groin area and would disappear once i sat down. How long does that last? Thank you all so much for your answers! They have all helped in some way or another.
Lower back pain, pinched nerve or something else? Im an 18 year old male, i have been struggling with lower pack pain ever since my sophomore year in high school. Recently i have been going back to the chiropractors who think that when i have low back pain it is because of a pinched nerve. Whenever they treat me it goes away, for weeks at a time and i am pain free. However after the first few re-occurrences they told me that if i were to strengthen my core i wouldnt have this problem anymore. It has been two months since my last pain occurrence (sharp pain in lower back, doesnt radiate down, only in lower back area) and i have had considerable improvement to my core strength with the help of the P90 program. However while playing volleyball a couple days ago i arched my back and got that familiar pain again. Is it common to have a pinched nerve in the same area this often? If I am keeping up with my exercises why does this continue to happen? Im going back to the chiropractor in a few days, but im looking for a permanent solution. I need suggestions other than the doctors because ive had MRI's in the past that reveal nothing. (Some extra info, my right leg is 9mm shorter than my life, last XRay at chiropractor showed my disk had slid sideways pinching nerve but they say its not the problem)
