How do you tell the difference between the symptoms of a pinched nerve and a concussion? I'm trying to figure out if what I have is a pinched nerve or a minor concussion. The symptoms are similar though, so how can I tell which one I most likely have?

Symptoms of a pinched nerve or what? I take Martial Arts and was punched in my right arm. 2 days later, a stiff neck and my skin from my ear lobe down to my hip felt tender to the touch similair to how sunburn feels. There wasn't any redness. Then I developed a headhead. I took Excedrin Migraine which seemed to improve my symptoms 100%. Could this have been a pinched nerve?

My my left thigh gets a intense burning sensation( similar to that? of sitting in a car with the sun beating down on your leg) ..It is more pronounced when I am sitting, but if it's not burning, it plain hurts...And I ususally have to put an Ice pack on my leg to cool it down.....Any ideas...It's become rather imbearable.

Symptoms of a pinched nerve? Something is wrong with my back and it has been hurting since Friday. It will randomly spasm and cause me pain while sitting up and I can't twist my back without being in excruciating pain. It is also causing my stomach to hurt, which I can't understand. My mom says it may be a pinched nerve? The only time it doesn't hurt is when I lay down flat on my back.

I get numbness in my mid back through out the day , which causes a bunch of other pinched nerve symptoms ................I basically F'd up my back six months ago b/c i sat at the computer for long hours in bad posture. I'm really suffering from it now. I had an MRI done but they couldn't "see" anything spine is normal ......The numbness radiated from the spine and out going up ...............where do i go from here ? I got my MRI in July and I'm still i pain now in Nov. 6 months in pain ??:( What should I do the neurologist doesnt seem to think its anything (quack) and my primary doct is all go back to the neurologist ???
Are These Symptoms Of A Pinched Nerve? And Anxiety? After The miscarriage in October things kind of went back to normal. In the beginning of this month i've been feeling overwhelmed and kind of stressed then all of a sudden i started to feel some pressure on my neck and my face started to tingle. After that when ever I saw anything that was negative I would have this scary feeling that it might happen to me and the pressure on my neck always happens to get on my everlasting nerve. And now when ever I walk I hear a clicking in the base of my head and i have big knots of muscles on my back. And when ever im dozing off to sleep i feel quick blood pressure and as soon as i open back my eyes i feel normal. I try to tell myself nuthin is wrong with me and stress is the reason i have all this and i dont go to the docs until jan.4 but i wanna know now so please help :) n let me know
Worth it to get cortisone shot on pinched nerve of 3 years? Three years ago I suffered a major blow to my elbow. I had xrays and (to my surprise) it wasn't broken and the Dr acted like she couldn't have cared less. So for the past 3 years I've been suffering the symptoms of what seems to be a pinched nerve. Since it's been so long with the pain often coming and going to the slightest touch, would a cortisone shot really do any good?

I'm not sure if it is actually a pinched nerve, the symptoms started when she had the flu (regular flu not H1N1) I assumed at the time that it was a pressure head ache. anyone that's had one knows that when you bend over or move in a certain way and they stand back up your head and sometimes neck hurts. She had the flu over two weeks ago so I'm worried its something else she'll be playing and then just scream in pain and grab at the back of her head/neck area she cries for a minute and then is fine. Best at-home fix for a pinched nerve in upper neck? My friend knows she has a pinched nerve and herniated discs in her neck, and has the exact same headache symptoms I do. She is unaware of at-home help. I happen to know my chiropractor-boss once adjusted my neck and the pain was instantly gone. So, does anyone know of a way to resolve this? At the very least, even if I'm wrong about my diagnosis, you will be helping her! Thank you. PS I haven't worked for this chirpractor in years and have moved far away, or I'd just ask him... LOL
how to tell weither u have a pulled muscle are pinched nerve.? how can u tell weither u have a pulled are strained muscle, are just a pinched nerve will there be different symptoms?i was told that when u have a pinched nerve it pulls and stings and only painful when u move certain way, but a strained are pulled muscle hurts how ever u move are set still. anyone ever experienced these problems plz give advice, plz only serious imputs thank you.

Hi I've been to the docs, emergency room, and have had numerous tests done - EKG, MRI, Stress test with sonogram, gallbladder, Lower Endoscopy, lots of blood work just to name a few. It all started with shortness of breath June 7, 2008. I quit smoking which I needed to do anyway and honestly am glad I did. I still have trouble with the shortness of breath but it comes and goes as does the chest discomfort on the left side. I also noticed that I get a lot of numbness and acheyness on the left side and back of my neck. I get the numbness sometimes the left side of my torso, also my left upper leg and the left side of my but. I get pains in my upper and lower back. The numbness seems to radiate. My hands fall asleep often too. My blood pressure is on the low side ( 95/60 - 100/70) and has been for many years of my life and I am in the process of trying to lose 40 pounds. The numbness, pains, and shortness of breath come and go. I do get stomach issues like too much acid and sometimes it feels like I have something stuck in my throat. I usually take a acid reducer pill 1 - 2 times per day. I also had a baby 10 months ago, work and have a home and teenager and all the other typical mom duties. I feel overwhelmed a lot. Sorry to sound like a hypochondriac, just tired of not feeling like myself. Been that way since I got pregnant and had the baby 10 months ago or so it seems. So what else could be going on with me? I'm still seeing my doc but none of these tests are coming back with anything conclusive. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
pinched nerve - super expert comments needed? i had a herniated disc and pinched nerve since Feb 2007. the pain always originated from my right buttocks and radiated down the back and front of my right leg. i tried physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor,DRX-9000,ART(Active Release Tecnique), 2 epidural injections and one SNRB injection in the past 5-6 months. the pain got no better but after looking at my second MRI(taken in July, 2007), the orthopaedic surgeon did confirm me that my bulging disc had reduced and is not pinching my S1 nerve, thus surgery would be of no help. according to him, i should either visit a pain medication doctor, or my body should take care of the pain. My family physician again checked me on 9/10/2007, and stated that all my clinical symptoms point towards pinched nerve, which somehow did not show up in the last MRI. i'm just surviving on pain killers - i cannot sit on a chair or sofa, cannot drive, cannot sleep in normal positions.
Frequent tingling/pins and needles (pinched nerve?)?!? I play a lot of sport and have recently been getting pins and needles/tingling in parts of my body... more than normal i think. I've heard this can be a sign of a pinched nerve, but then again maybe I'm just getting paranoid. What do people know about pinched nerves and the symptoms? Do you think it there might be something wrong or am I just making a deal out of nothing... the numbness/tingling/pins and needles coes and goes a bit. it's not always there. i've sometimes been getting pains in my back just when i twist or move awkwardly and stuff. i dont have any shooting pains down my arms or legs though. i have no trouble sitting.
Does anyone have experience with a pinched nerve causing heel spurs and achilles tendonitis? I've been seen by a rheumatologist, podiatrist and am now trying an orthopedist. All of them are treating the symptoms, but I have no explanation of the cause of the problem. Today, a chiropracter looked at my back and found two locations above my hips that were extremely painful when pressure was applied. He feels that is the cause of the problem in my feet. I'm going to check into this further, but wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with a similar problem. Peggy K, The chiropracter I saw was at a booth at the local grange fair, so he just took a quick look at me when I mentioned the pain in both feet. I'll be making an appointment to see him for a more thorough check up and to find out what he recommends. I am currently having ultrasound being done to my ankles at physical therapy that was ordered by the orthopedist.
Is this a pinched nerve? Neck and shoulder are killing me, but unlike the usual symptoms of a pinched nerve that often is accompanied by numbing or tingling of the arm, there is just pain radiating along the left side of my neck into the base of my skull and then on the left side of my face. The pain is especially bad in my eye, jaw and temple... what is this and what can i do to get rid of this pain. And unfortunetly I can't do hydrocodine or any of those good medications because I am allergic to them...

Pinched nerve in neck, will electro-therapy help? I have been suffering with what my doctor thinks is a pinched nerve in my neck for quite awhile. I have pins and needles in my arms, a burning pain in my left shoulder pain, dizziness, and a tingly stiff neck. My doctor reassures me that these are all normal symptoms for a pinched nerve. Anyways, he prescribed an anti-inflammatory pill and a muscle relaxant gel. I'm also supposed to have therapy everyday for 1 week. I had my first one today. It was 10 minutes of electro-therapy, followed by 10 minutes of heat therapy. I have to admit that I am skeptical that this is going to really work. Has anyone else had a pinched nerve in the neck? Did you have the same symptoms as I do? Have you tried electro-therapy? Did it work? Thanks!
Could Fibromyalga be a symptom of a nerve disorder or Scoliosis? My friend at church has it, and I wanted to do some reaserch for her. I know I have very simular symptoms, but all my sympotms are caused by pinched nerves in my back. It goes away once I get fixed and do my exercizes. So would it be possible that she could also be suffering from scoliosis or is it mostly a nerve disorder?

DIZZINESS from PINCHED NERVE?? I was in a car accident on June 11. I had whiplash and my neck was very sore. I went to a chiropractor who did a non-invasive EMG and said I most likely had a pinched nerve. Since the car accident I have had a dull achy pain in my neck and dizzy spells. I also get light-headed and sometimes have sensitivity to light. I do not have headaches so I have pretty much ruled out migraines. I have read that pinched nerves can cause these symptoms. I am seeing a neurologist in 2 weeks but I've been very nervous about my symptoms. I don't want to live the rest of my life feeling this way. Please help! Thanks =)

Here's why Im asking this question.I went to the hospital a week ago cuz I was having lower back pain and my left leg is feeling numb and weak.The doctor assumed I had a pinched nerve cuz of the symptoms I told her.She didnt give me no x-ray,mri,or catscan. A week later(which is today) I went to the hospital told them my symptoms(had a different doctor) and he sent me to the x-ray room.when my results came back he said that I had muscle spasms,not a pinched nerve. What I wanna know is why is my left leg feeling weak and numb if I have back spasms.My lower back has been killing me.another thing why would one doctor say i have a pinched nerve but another one says its a muscle spasm. Im confused,can somebody please help me out here

is this a symptom of a pinched nerve? well, i have these trigger points (tight knots) all over my back & neck. and i have noticed i have this really super tight knot in my neck that if i press, it wont go away but cause my arm to feel tingly and very numb and the pain travels to my foot and leg! it hurts a lot!!! and maks my shoulder hurts and head as well idk, but do you guys think it could be a pinched nerve? should i see a neurologist? i've been to a chiro they dnt do anything how is a pinched nerve test done? and how do i treat it? i get massages but those knots dnt go away! help im only 15
possible pinched nerve? or worse? A few months ago I went to the doctor for back pain, and he told me I had spondylosis. This condition he said ive had from birth, one of my vertebrae is deformed and brittle. I went through therapy and took muscle relaxers and pain meds and eventually felt better. Here recently my fingers on both of my hands just start twitching or contracting and it lasts from a few minutes to a few hours, this has happened before but ive noticed it happening more since the incident with my back. I also have been having burning sensations on my left leg like someone is holding a lighter up to my leg. Could this be a pinched nerve or do all these symptoms not relate at all? Or something different all together?

Could all these symptoms be related to one diagnosis? I have several symptoms and have been diagnosed with several different things but I feel they might all be related. Symptoms: -nerve pain in several regions of body -leg numbness -back pain -sour stomach -belching -headaches -sensitivity to light and sound -earaches -nausea -pressure in occipital region of head -confusion/forgetfulness I have been diagnosed with the following: -pinched femoral nerve -degenerative joint disease (lumbar) -acid reflux -allergies While these may very well be the correct diagnoses, I really do not feel like they are. I have been taking allergy meds every day but the pressure and headaches get worse. 2 months of Nexium did not help the acid reflux. Nerve damage in leg is spreading past the femoral nerve region to the upper thigh, along with many areas of pin-point nerve pain (cheek, left side of back, above knees, arm). Please help if you have any idea what could be going on!!
Pinched Nerve or Spontaneous Pneumothorax? I had a spontaneous pneumothorax about 6 weeks ago. this was confirmed with a ct scan using injected dye. it felt like i had another 2 weeks later so was sent off for chest x-rays. these came back clear - no shadows/infections etc. it felt like i had another today so off i went to the doctors. he poked and proded and asked the various questions. i was diagnosed by physiotherapy few years back that i am slighly hyper-mobile in my joints after an injury to one of my finger joints at work. the doctor said my shoulder blade move quite a bit and the said it was a pinched nerve causing the pain in the chest making it feel like a lung collapse. The last 2 i was doing housework, using my left arm which is the side i feel the pain on everytime. but the first which was definitely an SP i was asleep and it was around 2 in the morning i woke with pain. anyone else think this is the likely reason or has someone else experienced these symptoms and found out it was something serious? pinched nerve, or shingles? About 2 weeks ago, the region from my left rib cage around to my back starting feeling sore and extremely sensitive to touch. Even something as light as just my shirt rubbing against the skin is agonizing (also can be triggered when drinking cold liquids). The skin on my back isn't as touch sensitive, but feels very sore, as if I had been lifting heavy weights. About a week ago, a couple of red bumps appeared on my stomach that look like bug bites, which are also sensitive and sore. Could this be a pinched nerve in my back causing these symptoms, or does it sound like Shingles? I haven't had any flu like symptoms, nor do I have a rash, aside from the 5 small red bumps. Help!
A Pinched Nerve? Does anyone know of anything I can do at home to help relieve the symptoms and increase the healing time of a pinched nerve?? The pinched nerve is in my lower back at the S1L5 disk. I have been to both a doctor and a chiropractor with out much help from either, both say I don't need surgery that it will just take time. I have complete numbness in the right leg and partial numbness in the left leg. It really sucks !!
Pinched nerve, anyone? I'm a catcher for my softball team and I've been experiencing what I believe is a pinched nerve. I've done research on it and have found all the symptoms to be true with me. First time I got it was in 8th grade, then I got it last year and had to be out of the season defensively, and now I have it again. Has anyone experienced this while playing sports? It'd really help if I had some feedback.
Pinched Nerve in neck? My 4.5 pound chihuahua has been sick and crying when she would moves her neck. We took her to the vet (one that I don't particuraly like, but he was the only one with an opening) and he said that he thought that she had pulled a muscle but it never started getting better. So we took her to a different vet (a very good one) and they did x-rays and everything was fine so after describing the symptoms to him he said that he thought that she has a pinched nerve in her neck and gave her Torbutrol 1mg and Prednisone 5mg and told us to make sure she took it easy. She is still not better so we took her back today and he put her on "bed rest" and she is not able to get out of her cage (other then going to the bathroom) for 7 days. When all of this started we noticed that she looked like she had gained weight all of a sudden (she looked very bloated) and tonight she looks very bloated again. Any suggestions on what could be wrong with her? I forgot to mention that we first noticed her being bloated before she was ever taking meds, so I do not think that they are the reason. We first thought that she might be constipated and that was what was giving her the bloated look but that is not the case because she is going to the bathroom reguraly.
Pinched nerve, pregnant..or something really wrong? So ok here's whats going on..... Well I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled because they are rotting and one caused me severe pain and an abscess. Dentist gave me an antibiotic and scheduled surgery. Well after taking the antibiotic for 2 days I was sick very sick with diarrhea, (clindamycin) I called the dentist and she said to stop taking it and never prescribed me anything new. The abscess went away and then I got a sinus infection. That then cleared up and then the other night I was having diarrhea again and severe pain in my neck,shoulders, middle back bottom of my rib cage in front and tightness in my stomach. I went to the ER because I was afraid. Dr. said I have a pinched nerve in my neck.....Pinched nerves cause all those symptoms???? Now this morning I woke up was dizzy and threw up bile, ate a bowl of rice chex and felt a little better. Then after dinner (cesear salad w/chicken and a baked potato and yogurt for dessert) I feel just as awful again....I thought yogurt is suppose to help diarrhea...it seems to be making it worst!!! I also considered pregnancy because of headaches crazy dreams and sore breasts, but results were negative. Is there something really serious going on??? I have a Doctor appointment tomorrow but I can't sleep because I'm worried it could be like celic disease from the antibiotic or gallbladder or liver disease...thats how scared I am I'm thinking the worst! I kinda hope its just a stomach bug thats lasting like 2 weeks or pregnancy!!!!

Hello i am a 22 year old male, i "THINK" i am dealing with a pinched nerve either in my back or neck, maybe both, my symptoms are inconsistent tingling/pain in my left arm/should/pinky finger that i have had on and off for almost 9 months now. I first thought it was the sings of a heart attack or stroke and went into the ER to have my heart checked (EKG test, blood work, x rays, blood pressure) and everything was fine just slightly high blood pressure (overweight). So i went to the chiropractor and got a neck and back adjustment and the symptoms went away after a few days. about 2 months ago they came back i am wondering is it likely that whatever was fixed when i went into the chiropractor simply came back? and if it was something like a pinched nerve how long could the symptoms last?

Can a pinched nerve in the shoulder cause facial tics? I have, over a month or so, developed a tic in my right eye. It causes my upper eyelid to flutter, usually after a blink. Sometimes my lower lid twitches. During the same time, I have developed a very painful knot in my shoulder, but it is under my collarbone so I can't stretch it or massage it out. Doctors told me i ahve a pinched siatic nerve but i think i am having weird symptoms.? so i know your supposed to have numbness and pain. and the tingling sensation in the leg and foot. but i just started feeling tingling in my hip and then in my shoulder and then in my face. and then on the other side of my body too in various areas. it is really weird to me and it is bothering me pretty bad. i dont think i am supposed to feel that all over my body. and my thigh on the effected side is extremely sensitive just touching it hurts like hell. should i go back to the doctor and can somone explain is it normal or what.
Pinched Nerve?!......? I have a pinched nerve in my left neck/shoulder. I've been going to my chiropractor for 2 months now. I just recently got pain in my right shoulder/neck. After getting that pain. I started getting pain under my left armpit. Could this all be realted to my pinched nerve in my neck? I've been weak and tired with my pinched nerve is that one of the symptoms?

Last month I went to pick up my 5 year old special needs cousin so i could feed him but he was sleeping so i put my arm under his stomach (he sleeps on his stomch) and went to pick him up well i forgot that the rail on the side of the crib lowered and when i bent down to get him he was heavier than i thought and felt a sharp shooting pain go through my arm starting at the area right behind my neck. It didn't last long maybe a few min's then that night i was going to bed an it hurt so bad to lay on it but i delt with it and the pain subsided like 2 days later well last week it came back and it has now moved from where it was to my neck and the top part of my arm..it hurts so bad to put a jacket on or even clothes (yeah tmi i know) i have taken ibuprofen(sp?) and it has taken away some pain and i have also put ice on it this morning and heat on it twice after the ice bc the heat works better also it was a sharp shooting pain it kinda felt like pens and needles then it started to have the numb feeling..so now that you know all about it can you tell me the symptoms of a pinched nerve? do my symptoms that i have told you sound like a pinched nerve? thanks much help appreciated..p.s my mom doesnt know how long it has gone on i only told her yesterday that i thought i had a pulled muscle but i looked up symptoms of a pinched nerve and the things i saw sound more like i have more of a pinched nerve than pulled muscle..

pinched nerve in lower back? So, I'm 16 years old and have been having digestive issues lately (severe bloating, gas) but it kind of took a different turn lately. In the morning I am pretty good, but as soon as I make a wrong move (still in the morning), a sharp pain shoots from somewhere in my lower back (more left side of spine, though sometimes it can feel like its on the right side too). It feels like an electric shock when this happens. It will shoot up throughout my middle back. My legs are weak, but they don't have any numbness or other nerve symptoms. I went to my chiropractor last week, but he didn't find anything really. This has happened for about a week now. I'm young and eat healthy--and recently began obstaining from sugars and wheat. What can I do to relieve this off-and-on sharp nerve-like pains? Just ice and lay off? Or do some excercies? (if I can attempt without too much pain) It hurts in positions where I have to use my lower back muscles (like bending over, or reaching up with my right hand...even sometimes when I stand I can have pain. It isn't constant--but it hurts when trying to do certain things. Is it a herniated disk? Or something else??? Also, every few mintues, when I happen to breath in deeply, my middle back will crack. (And btw, my weight is about 115 1bs, if that helps...)
Pinched nerve or Fibro symptoms? If someone could give me any clue or insight as to whether the searing pain, tingling in hands and stiffness is caused by my stupid fibro (its been raining 7 straight days in midwest America) or if I somehow pinched a nerve (although no recollection of strenuous activity) in my neck. Symptoms of a pinched nerve? I have this tingling/ticklish feeling that forms around my left nipple, my left underarm, and it radiates to my neck. At first I thought it was acid reflux but now I'm not too certain. I think it might be a pinched nerve because the funny feeling is relieved when I sit slouching, as oppose to sitting up straight. And when I'm laying down, I feel relieve when I sleep with high elevation of pillows. Where would the pinched nerve be if this is the case? Thanks yo.

Could my symptoms be a pinched nerve? A few months ago, I began having a tingling sensation in my upper back, near my left shoulder blade. Recently, I have been experiencing a tightness or stiffness, and a soreness when pressed. Sometimes it aches, not painful, but uncomfortable. Even more recently, not sure if its related, I have a feeling of a lump in my throat when I swallow. Like something is stuck. Could this be a pinched nerve? I do sit at a computer all day and have bad posture sometimes... I should probably mention that I am pregnant and suffering the unfortunate side effects of morning sickness - vomiting. May have something to do with the "lump in the throat" sensation.

How to find a pinched nerve? I have been suffering for a while and I have ruled it all down to a pinched nerve, I have tried everything to help it, but I am not entirely sure where it is, I think it is in my neck because I use to have a pain there but it went away, however the effects still remain, weakness in legs and arms, brain fog, and all the other symptoms.
