wrist and hand pain symptoms Knowledge Base
What ailment could be causing my hand/wrist pain? I'll try to be specific; I want to have a little bit of knowledge on this before I get a chance to visit a doctor or something. I've been wonder what it wrong with my hands/wrists for about a year or so now. I can't say how often these symptoms really occur, say, per week, but they happen enough to bother me. Sometimes, my wrists will have a sore or tight pain, and sometimes this extends all the way up to practically my elbow. It makes me feel like stretching the muscles by gently bending my hand back, but this only helps a little. Other times, like now, my fingers are the source of the problem. When I bend them, say, as if I were pretending to have claws, they pop or feel like they're grinding. Sometimes they are so stiff that it is very uncomfortable for me to make a fist. I notice the finger pain more after it rains; the wrist and arm pain after I use my hands a lot. I play video games, write, and type a lot;this may be part of the problem, but I want to be sure. Thanks!
Ongoing wrist and hand pain- No help from Anti-Inflamatories.? I have had fairly continual pain in my wrist and hand for over a month,I have been on an anti-inflamatory for a month-the pain has not gone away and is only relieved at times.I have shooting, aching and burning pain,my knuckles on my ring and middle fingers ache and get shooting pains. The pain is predominantly in my left hand(thumb joint and wrist)however I am also now suffering with my right hand-same symptoms. Prior to this prolonged pain,my pinky and the finger next to my pinky were fairly continuously numb in my left hand for about a month, since the pain in my wrist and thumb joint started however this numbness has disappeared. My fingers do feel tingly at times though. My pain is not dominantly in the morning but throughout the day and night.I have checked my sleeping position and feel it is not that.I am not over wieght and am a 20yr female. I am battling to go about my daily tasks, driving and typing have become especially difficult to perform. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Arm, wrist, hand, elbow pain on right side only? For over a month now i've had pain in my wrist, arm, and elbow but only on the right side. I first noticed that my hand would be numb upon waking up and would take up to 10 minutes to get full feeling back. then I fell at work a few months ago on a patch of black ice. I fell on my hands and my wrist and elbow started hurting off and on during the day. I can't put a lot of pressure on my wrist. Now I have pain from my wrist to my elbow almost constantly. They've taken xrays and don't see any bone injuries. I was told to "wait 6 weeks and maybe this will go away too." There has to be something wrong. I can't put pressure on my wrist/arm. I can't write more than a few sentences without my wrist pain increasing. I'm dropping objects more and more often, like I can't grip things properly. I can't open cans or wash a lot of dishes. I can't hold things that are heavy. there's a lot more symptoms but that's the gist of things. What could be wrong?
can wrist pain be symptom of hepatitis? I am 26 years old....i have been experiencing wrist joint painon my right hand from last winter. I feel slight pain in the joint when i bend my hand outward. Sometimes the pain last for weeks or months...and sometimes i don't have any pain at all...Can this symptom alone be a sign of and hepatitis? can there be a possibility that have hepatitis for a bout 3-4 years and only show symptom of wrist pain after 3 years f having hepatitis?
Elbow, wrist, and hand pain? For the last few hours my right elbow has been hurting slightly as well as my wrist down into my hand and fingers. The elbow pain isn't bad but the hand/wrist is getting more and more uncomfortable. It feels like joint pain and if I preform certain movements over and over it at first feels better then hurts worse suddenly. It kind of sounds like tendinitis perhaps? But I was under the impression that tendinitis was a gradual onset of pain not suddenly as this is. This wrist has always been prone to popping and irritating aches here and there since I'm on the computer a lot but I don't think it could be carpal tunnel. For one I'm quite young (although I know exceptions can be made for that) but my mom had it and she has described her symptoms to me and it doesn't seem like the same thing. I guess more or less I'm just curious if others think this may be the onset of tendinitis or if there's anything else that could cause it. And what I can do to get it to stop hurting so I can get to sleep. =[ Well I've never had this problem with my elbows or wrist before. This is a different kind of pain than I've ever experienced with my wrist. I've spent the last 6 years of my life on a computer constantly so I don't think it would be a sudden problem as to the position I'm in on the computer. The only thing that has changed is that I have a new job decorating cakes so I have this new repetitive movement in my schedule that didn't exist before. =[
Pain in wrist/back of hand? Does anyone know what it is? Everytime I press down or against something with my left hand, I get sharp pain across the middle of each of my fingers about where the joints are, and somewhat in my wrist. My mom, who's a nurse, says it's probably a sprain, but from what I've read online, you have to have bruising and swelling for it to be a strain/sprain. I don't have any visible symptoms it just makes me yelp anytime I press down on my left hand because of this acute pain. I've researched several medical sites trying to find what the problem is, but nearly every issue they list involves having symptoms like swelling, bruising, inability to clench your fist, etc. I don't have any symptoms like that. Does anyone know what it could be? The pain started about 4 days ago... Should I go see my general doctor, would they be able to identify what the problem is or should I see some sort of bone/hand specialist? Is it even worth it to do that or should I just wait it out? Thanks
Alot of different hand/wrist pains and discomfort? Tapping on the keyboard causes joint pain, discomfort and pain all over the hand, and discomfort in my wrist. Even typing this I'm havig problems. I notice my veins stick out when it's bad. I get burning too. I am seeking help from physio but they aren't sure. They know I have hyper mobility but it wouldn't cause this extensive problem. She has proposed juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which I'm due a blood test for but I'm not sure. I get symptoms of carpal tunnel, tendonitis, and more, but when she tested from Carpal Tunnel it was inconclusive. Any suggestions? Please watch for my updates with extra details as you answer because I am watching this.
What are right arm pain and hand cramping symptoms of? The pain made me hyperventilate but the doctors wrote oit off as hyperventilation. How can hyperventilation cause severe cramping in the wrist that you cannot control also why is it only the right arm that feels pain? I am tired of being treated like I am having a panic attack when they don't stop to listen to my heart. Also I had what appeared to be myocarditis or cardiomyopathy in July when I went into respiratory failure for an unknown reason. I had acute lyme disease 103.5 temp and they could not explain the respiratory/heart piece. I am worried.
Hand, wrist and lower arm pain with a sensation of cut off circulation and tingling like it fell asleep? the last week or so i have been suffering from hand tingling and numbness of incredible pain to the point of almost non-functionality. it all started waking one morning and thought nothing of it cuz it had happened before if i slept on one side too long. but this pain was different in its intensity and that it lasted all day. when asking my dad he said it was cuz i had overworked it redecorating my new place(which was kinda true cuz the 2 days prior to my painful wake-up it had been sore from painting and installing a wire curtain to surround my bed with no brakes) and that it should be gone by 2weeks. the thing is the past few months though i had a few bouts of swollen and irritated eyes if i left my contacts in too long and my eye doctor said it might be a symptom of arthritis. the pain also mainly hits when its cold and damp like it has been lately but is mostly fine when either not damp or bone in cold.and though maybe unrelated i also have had unusual(brief and uncommon) chest pains within the past months ANY IDEAS?? i know i should go to a doctor but i have to wait for a day off and you all know insurance and heath-care sucks
Bad wrist pain when bent back? Injury: This occurred on last Monday, March 29. Pain onset in right hand wrist 4-5 hours after a boxing session at a new gym my friend found. May have been caused from improper wrapping on the right hand or improper punching on the heavy bag....or maybe a combination of the two. Symptoms: At rest, it does not hurt. If I bend my wrist back using only my own wrist strength to do so, I get light pain in my right hand wrist on the side opposite my thumb. Now, if I then take my hand and bend it back a little further than this, which is the same position it would be if I were to say push myself up out of a chair etc. The pain, initially, will be a little greater than the last part, my wrist will feel a bit weak as if I should not allow myself to put too much weight on it. However, once I release the pressure from my wrist, I immediately get a sharp, painful pang that shoots from the back of my wrist/side opposite my thumb up towards my pinky. This is one of those grit your teeth for a second kind of pains. Just to stress this again, it does not do this when putting weight on it etc., it does this when I release my wrist from the weight/pressure etc. I've also noticed a lot of little popping now with this wrist. It always has this feeling now that I need to crack it somehow and it will release some sort of pressure. Additional details: I am 20 years old, I do not have a history of contact sports etc. I have no reason to have any kind of chronic wrist issues. This was my THIRD time boxing, ever, at this new gym we were going to. Also, I went in and got my wrist checked up yesterday and had X-rays done. There was no fractures etc. to any of the bones that they could see. They did say, however, they could see there was some swelling on the side opposite my thumb. Other than that, there wasn't anything else they could tell me. They just said rest it etc. for a week, and if in 7 days it hasn't improved and I'm still getting pain from my wrist to come back in for an MRI.
Aching/tingling wrist pain? Well, here's my symptoms: - Aching pain down back of left hand and half way down left arm without moving my hand. - Shooting pain from in between wedding ring finger and middle finger which shoots down my left hand and up my arm. - Tingling fingers. - Weakened grip in hand and fingers. I've been experiencing this for about two days and it is very painful at times. Any one have any ideas on what could be the problem? I would've gotten myself to a doctor already but I just haven't had the time. Thanks in advance. :]
Over the course of a week I noticed carpal tunnel in both hands, but that was just a SYMPTOM of hand and wrist? swelling. Then ankles and feet swelling .Now weeks later my knees, and shoulders are in incredible pain.I can hardly walk in the morning or after sitting for more than 30 minutes.I'm 49 and healthy all my life. The onset of symptoms was very sudden.Blood and urine tests are all normal.Doctors baffled they think rhumatoid arthritis though RA factor came back negative in blood tests.Any ideas? No diet or medication changes, everything was normal then wham.No insect bites that I know of.
Please help...why do I have pain in my hand (across my joints and wrist)? Everytime I press down or against something with my left hand, I get sharp pain across the middle of each of my fingers about where the joints are, and somewhat in my wrist. How do I calculate my hand size for a wrist brace? I'm having the first symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome and I started looking around on ebay to buy wrist braces to ease the pain but I have no idea what size to choose since I don't know how to calculate my hand size so I can choose the right wrist brace size for me. Could anyone help me out?
Any ideas on what my wrist pain could be? I'll try to be brief. My Ortho (hand, wrist, upper extremity specialist) doesn't have any ideas. November '07 I was putting a 20 lb box on a shelf (had it palmed), got a sudden, sharp pain. Couldn't oppose thumb for about 1/2 hour and soreness for a few hours. Jan '08 started getting "tightness" (like an Ace Bandage wrapped around my wrist. Discovered that massaging it allowed me to "snap" it on the Ulnar side (placed left hand over the back of the right, grasped around the pinkie and twisted back to achieve snap) Cortisone injection did nothing Month of brace & PT did nothing MRI indicated TFCC Specialist says no indications of TFCC First exam he was able to "dislocate" my wrist with minimal pressure to dorsal side palm. Snapping now occurs 6-12 times an hour, if I don't snap it I get soreness on upper and lower ulnar side, tightness in wrist and pain in index-middle-ring fingers. Fluoroscopy didn't show anything stunning. Any ideas to bring to my ortho based on my symptoms?A
wrist pain? I have this pain in my wrist, its deep and its on the underside of my wrist just above my hand, right down the middle... if feels like a blood problem. My husband says its not carpol tunnel, because his dad had it and its not any of my symptoms. Its this piercing pain, and is random that lasts for only a few seconds, and then comes back a couple minutes later.
Wrist and arm pain cold hands sore joints? Well where to begin. I have been working at a desk job answering phones for 2 years now. I noticed about 6 months into the job that I was starting to have tension headaches and neck pain. I have continued to have this for a year and a half. I have to lean my head to the left to pop my neck in order to get some relief from this pain. About 6 months ago I have noticed that the joints in my hands and wrist are sore and feel as though they need to pop upon waking. Recently I have been experiencing numbness and tingling from my fingers up to my elbow and slight pain in my back near my left shoulder blade. This is a burning pain that kind of feels like a knot. It also feels as if my hands are extremely cold most of the time. I have had a neck injury in 2005 from being rear ended while I was stopped at a red light. I am starting to wonder if possibly I have carpal tunnel or maybe a pinched nerve in my neck or back. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms with carpal tunnel? Or do you know what else it may be? I have also noticed that Motrin and Tylenol do not help the pain much but heat applied to my neck and back do. Also the pain in my arms and wrist is more intense at night. I have also had achey pain in my knees and ankles during this time. Do you think seeing a chiropractor will help if its a pinched nerve?
Burning, tingling, and pain in wrist and fingers? I am a 25 year old male. Recently I began having problems with burning, tingling, and pain in my arms, wrist, hands and fingers. It is sometimes comparable to an Ache. They sometimes feel weak upon awakening. NSAIDs do not provide any relief. I recently went to the doctor and he removed me from a blood pressure medicine in which he thought might be causing it. The condition went away for a couple weeks but has now reappeared. Sometimes it feels like my hands "go to sleep" . My arms feel mildly weak. There is no swelling in my joints. The pain seems to come and go. It is not sore to the touch and temperature change makes no difference. There is none of these symptoms present in my legs. Can anyone help me?
Sharp pain in my wrist? I read that it could be Carpotunnel, but I'm not getting most of the symptoms. I just started getting a sharp pain on the top side of my wrist today, right where the hand ends and the forearm begins. But it doesn't constantly hurt, the only time I get pain is sometimes when I make a fist really hard, and when I bend back my fingers, I'll get the sharp pain. My hands or fingers never go numb or have any pain and my arm is the same, it's just that one part on my wrist when I do one of those two things. Also it's just my right wrist, my left wrist is fine.
10 points to the best answer for this!!!? Wrist pain? I have been tested for Carpal tunnel and all kinds of arthritis. Every few months or if I agrivate it, my left wrist and palm gets swolen and has a purple tint and is extremly painful! It also sometimes gets knots in it. Its a combo of stabbing pains and throbbing and is worse at night. I worked as a cashier for five years and this hand was my scanning hand. The swelling and pain start in my mid arm and go up my wrist on the palm side up into my thumb. Any idea what this could be????? Motrin helps but it still wakes me up at night. It isn't constant just flareups. What else other than carpal tunnel, and arthritis have these symptoms???? It also has heat in it when it flares up it is not cold.
Wrist pain when arm is extended - Pinched Nerve?!? I've been having some shoulder pain that comes and goes and a pulling/tingly/burning feeling in my wrist when my arm is extended. Also a little numbness/soreness below my hand/thumb. I only feel the wrist pain when I stretch out my arm. I had been doing lots of pull ups and shoulder exercises but have stopped since I noticed these symptoms. This is my 2nd post regarding this issue. The previous responses indicated that it may be a pinched nerve and that I should see a doctor. Problem is I don't have health insurance or a lot of money to spend on x-rays, EEGs, etc. Any advice on how I can deal with this on my own assuming it is a pinched nerve or strained tendon? It seems like stretching it makes it hurt more.. I have been using DMSO for approx 3 days. I know its controversial but there are about a billion positive testimonials saying it's great for strains and such. So far the shoulder pain has pretty much stopped but the wrist is still a problem. Thanks for the advice!!
Can I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome without having any of the symptoms but the pain? My left hand hurts from the base of the thumb and forefinger to the wrist. I looked up Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (which I was told it could be) and I don't have any of the symptoms or warning signs that the site said. A few of those included numbness and tingling the night before, and then waking up with the pain there or something like that. Anyway, I haven't had any symptoms or warnings at all, it just started hurting the other day. Could it still be Carpal Tunnel? When I type, it hurts the most. I do ALOT of typing, working and spending a ton of time on the computer, so ... yeah. Eep.
Wrist Pain - Possible Causes? I am currently seeing a Physio about this, but I don't seem to be seeing any real improvement. I have had left wrist pain for 3-4 months now (I am right handed), and I can't actually imagine it not being there anymore. The pain started just in the wrist, but now radiates up the back of my hand - to the knuckles. It is on the top of my hand - not the palm. It is generally a mild pain, but can be very sharp if a sudden/unexpected stress it put upon it. If I put pressure on my hand so that it bends downwards (towards the floor) I get a shooting pain, but sometimes the back of my hand will just ache... it's like toothache or a headache and I usually stretch/rub my hand to try and get rid of it (generally it doesn't last for more than a few minutes). The condition never goes away, but some days it's better than others. I cannot support a lot of weight with this hand as it will hurt, and it sometimes interferes with simple tasks, like undressing (e.g. putting my hand behind my back to undo a clasp) or putting a bag onto my left shoulder. My job involves quite a lot of lifting/repetitive tasks as I work with babies - and being at work does seem to make the symptoms worse, but I have had three weeks off recently and still experienced pain. My Physio firstly told me that she thinks it is sprained - however I have not fallen on it or anything, but most recently told me she believes it is a stretched tendon. I can believe this, due to the shooting pain, but would I experience aching with that and why have I seen no drastic improvement? I am concerned that it could be arthritis - but do not know if my symptoms are too mild for that/don't fit. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience of a similiar thing? I should probably add that I do sometimes also get clicking from the wrist.
Pain in right wrist after hitting bathroom door, help? I know I am an idiot and got anger issues, put that aside, I have a habit of hitting walls and doors in a stamping down/banging on the wall motion. Its hard to explain, but its so that my pinky down to under the left side of my wrist would hit the wall/door. So I have been doing it a lot for years with minor pain for maybe 5 minutes, but in the past three days i've done it three times, twice on a cheap wooden cabinet door which broke and finally on the hard wooden bathroom door which hardly was scratched. So its been about 3 hours now since the bathroom door and i kept feeling a tingling sensation on my right hand but in the past 30 minutes everything I am doing with the right hand is causing pain and discomfort in the wrist. There is no inflammation or swelling, and I looked up symptoms of a fractured/broken wrists and it doesn't seem to be it. I took some Advil 500 MG about 2 hours ago and the pain is still there. What could be wrong? Should I just go to sleep and wait till tomorrow to see if the pain worsens? If does worsen what could I be looking at? Fractured wrist? Does that require surgery to fix? What if I leave it like it is?
wrist/hand tendonitis? ok i've already posted about playing video games waaay to much (mostly guitar hero 3 for hours on end with no rest) and getting a burning type of sensation in both wrists/hands (only recently has it seemed to spread to my hands) The first time i noticed the burning/achy feeling, i foolishly kept playing for about a week then realized something was seriously wrong. I was looking online and saw chronic tendonitis. reading that scared me to death... I'm quite sure that's what i have because the pain will go away, then come back and it's been 5 or 6 months since these symptoms began and I was actually taking ibprofen when the symptoms began for my back. My buddies kind of kept making me playing this other video game which involved prolonged strain on my wrists and hands, which i played in pain because super smash brothers is awesome. is chronic tendonitis treatable, curable by surgery? medication? or anything? and is that what i have? wouldn't any NORMAL tendonitis be healed/gone by now?
Does anyone else have severe pain in your hand and they call it RSD? I fell back in Februay of this year...had x-rays and MRI done...nothing showed up on either one...the ortho doctor diagnosed me as having a condition called RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy). I believed the doctor at first. He sent me to have a series of sympathetic nerve blocks of which only gave very temporary relief. The bruising and swelling went away temporaily but only to return a week or so later....I AM IN A LOT OF PAIN! I returned to the ortho doctor only to have the same diagnosis repeated to me again...I researched RSD and the symptoms I have are not consistent with RSD. The dr did give me some pain medicine but refuses to help me deal with the pain through the weekend (the dr only gave me 20...and that was two days ago). I am so much pain and all I have for it is Ibuprofen 800 MG. I have been unable to sleep because of the severe pain even with sleeping meds. I will not be going back to this ortho doctor....instead I will be going to a hand/wrist specialist....this doctor has done nothing but give me a run-around because they are incompitent and don't really know what is going on...nor do they seem interested in finding out. Can someone help me please! I don't know what to do for pain until I can get in to see the specialist next week. I'm so frustrated because this has been going on since Feb. Has anyone else had this similar thing happen? All comments and help welcomed!
Here's some symptoms I have, now what's wrong? First I want to add that I had Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery already, but not sure it took, so here are my symptoms now: Wrist Pain at joint (pain will throb) Thumb pain (pain will throb) Hurts to grip something with thumb 50% strength in Hand Can't lift anything more than 15 pounds Hard to lift anything heavy to waist height Hand still achy Still get tingling in hand (including pinky) Tingling on thumb side of arm, going up towards elbow. Constant elbow pain (Ulnar nerve area) Whole arm is achy (hand to shoulder) Elbow pain is okay during the night but when I get up in the morning the pain almost comes on right away Nov. 19 while doing floor plans the pain got really bad, and didn't settle for 2 days. Same elbow pain that I got back in April when I was ripping up carpet (my last day of work)where it hurt just moving my arm even slightly Do I have more than one problem????

Ouch this hurts. Forearm and hand pain? I think I'm starting to break down after many years of typing on a keyboard. I have this burning pain on the underside of my left forearm. I also feel discomfort on the underside of my left wrist. And very recently I have felt tightness and slight pain in the palm of my left hand. As a lefthander writing is nearly impossible when the symptoms are in full effect. Also of note is this tingle in my elbow when bent. Also feeling some triceps discomfort/warm feeling as well. Thanks for your input!

What Dr to see: Numbness/Tingling in Foot/Leg and pain in Arm/Hand? What kind of doctor should I see about the following symptoms? - Numbness and tingling sensation in my right leg and foot when I'm sitting. - Pain and weakness in my hands The pain in usually in my wrists, but sometimes extends to my fingers and forearm. I assumed it was the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome. I started using a wrist splint to help ease the pain. The numbness in my leg occurs when I am sitting down. I stand up to try and walk it off often, but when I sit it comes back. At first I thought these were unrelated, but then read about how back and spinal problems can cause such things. I work at a computer all day, so simply stopping what causes the pain isn't an option. So who should I see? A chiropractor? Neurologist? If I go to my regular doc, he'll most likely just send me somewhere else, and frankly I don't want to pay him so he can just send me to another doctor.
What are the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel? So I work at Apple Computer Inc. and my job is troubleshooting iPod's and the iTunes Software, this is a very fun job but yet requires being on a computer for 8-10 hours a day. I have noticed that towards the end of the day when i'm getting ready for bed, my left wrist/hand becomes very irritated and sore. It's almost like a jolt of pain going up through my wrist and into my hand? I don't have insurance, but I have mentioned this pain to my direct manager, but she doesn't seem to be taking any action in helping me? Am I showing signs of Carpal Tunnel? If so, who should I talk to about seeing a doctor?
What can cause hand pain? I'm 27 years old and I've been a medical secretary for 7 years. I've had tendinitis in my wrists before and treated that condition. My father had carpal tunnel syndrome, and I'm experienced with the signs and symptoms of that. I have pain in the index finger knuckles of both hands. It doesn't happen when I'm typing. It happens when I grab something (like opening a bottle) AND IT SENDS A SHOOTING PAIN UP MY HANDS! There's no swelling just pain upon use of the hands. It's been 4 days. I didn't ask the doctors about it yet, the one that I work with have been very busy, plus I've just been promoted to administration and don't want this to hold me back. ANY IDEAS? I'll ask my boss about it tomorrow (im just online right now and bored/curious) Thanks
Is my wrist sprained? today my friend didn't want to go to drama class so I decided to drag her there but when I went to do that a sharp pain shot through my hand. my symptoms are: 1)pain when moving the thumb 2)tenderness around and in the thumb 3)no swelling 4)pain around the thumb that increases when I move my wrist since the pain increases when I move the wrist could this be a wrist sprain? I have had problems with this wrist!!! 5)I cannot identify a round area for the pain. all I know is it hurts to type and when it has gotten worse overnight What can I do besides seeing a doctor? I'm 15 could both the thumb and the wrist be injured?
Please help with these symptoms: lightheadedness, tingling and pain in my right arm, exhaustion...? I am having the strangest symtoms. I am a relatively healthy 24 year old female and I'm starting to think that I am dying. Please share your opinion. here are my sympoms: (going on for about 2-3 weeks now) - lightheadedness: I get waves of lightheadedness that come around every couple of hours, and last for about a minute. I never used to experience this before. Its not harmful, but it is annoying and afterwards I'm off balance. -Pain and Tingling in my right arm: at first i thought i had carpel tunnel syndrome, my hand, wrist and lower arm are very sore and painful. the upper part of my arm is sore as well. sometimes, i get a pins and needles sensation in my hand and lower arm. my arm feels weird too. when i touch that arm with my hand, the sensation is similiar to it feeling numb, even though its not. plus, with this hand and arm, everything is super sensitive. cold things feel burning hot. super hot things are extra intense. -exhaustion. i have been so much more tired with all of this than i normally am. -ever since all of this has happened, my back hurts when i am trying to fall asleep, and it keeps me up sometimes. Please help. I really am starting to think that I have some sort of brain tumor and am dying. i want to believe i'm imagining this.
16 years old, too young and skinny for carpal tunnel syndrome? I've had wrist pain for years, but with in the past 6 months, new types of wrist and hand pain have formed, and it's interfering with my school work. I have all the symptoms of CTS. A few months ago, my hand started feeling numb constantly for a couple of weeks. The numbness has gone away (for the most part) but now I have frequent pain up the middle of my wrist, hand, middle and pointer finger. I've done hours of research, and I have all the symptoms of CTS. I spend around 10 hours on the computer a day. 9 months ago, I probably spent around 12 hours a day on the computer, for 6 months (I had broken my leg and couldn't walk.) Even before I had broken my leg, I had constant wrist pain. It wasn't carpal tunnel, but probably another nerve problem in my wrist, that I still have to deal with. Even if I'm not on the computer, and am just relaxing, my hands and wrists hurt randomly. So today, I went to the doctors, and she told me, "You are too young and skinny to have CTS." My doctor barely asked me any questions about my wrist problems! She just came in, and in about a minute rushed out to get me some papers on how to manage my pain. From what I read about CTS, I was supposed to go in to the doctors office, and she was supposed to press on some nerves, or at least ask me to do SOMETHING to either confirm, or disconfirm whether I have CTS or not. But she didn't do anything! She didn't even tell me what was wrong with my wrist, just to put ice on it, and to make sure that my desk meets specifications. (Which it does by the way.) It was just like, she had this predecided thing in her mind that JUST because I'm 16, it's impossible for me to get CTS. I'm hoping to hear from you guys, that skinny, 16 year old girls, who have spent over 10 hours per day on the computer for the past 4 years, can get CTS. Also, I went to the doctors because 1. The pain is getting so bad that I'm having to shake my hand out every few minutes at school, and since my mind is on my wrist/ hand, it's getting harder for me to concentrate during class. 2. The main reason why I wanted to go to the doctors, is because if I do have CTS (or any other type of condition) I don't want to put it off for years, and have it get so bad that the only way to fix it is to get surgery. I'm deathly afraid of surgery, and needles. And I will do anything to avoid having to deal with them. And so, if I don't get help for my wrist problems NOW, in the future, surgery will probably be the only option. I'm trying to avoid that so, I'd appreciate a proper diagnosis. Does anyone think I should see a different doctor again? Or will they also tell me, "You're too young and skinny to have CTS or anything serious."
Unexplainable Wrist Pain? I have had pain in both wrists now for over 6 months... they are more painful in the morning than other times of the day, but significantly more weak than 1 year ago. I am only 35 years old, and played volleyball and lifted weights until about a year ago after a slight back injury. I had x-rays taken of my wrists several months ago to look for signs of arthritis and the orthopedic hand surgeon found nothing to be worried about. Could this be a symptom of another ailment? Or a deficiency of some kind? My wrists are so week, I can barely hold onto a gallon of milk to place it on the counter!
Arthritis symptoms and is there any cure or the best medication for it? Lately I been having pain on my hands and wrist and the Dr. said that it might be the beginning of Arthritis and I am wondering if it can be cure or is there any medication that can stop it if it has no progress that much? Also, what exactly is Arthritis and how does this affect the body or organ and how bad can it get or what is the worse that can happen if I have it?
My Wrist Is Killing Me!!? Well i get monthly pains in my wrist.. when im at work especially. I will pick up somthing and there is a sharp pain in my hand that leads to my wrist. I looked at carpal tunnel symptoms.. some seem to be it.. but it seems to be somthing else.. the pain is so bad, that if im even moving my hand, it just hurts all over. When i first started my job, i would wake up with my hands just so numb, It was so painful.. now that hardly ever happens. but ever since i can remember, ive always had this pain in my wrist and hand. Its gotten worse. I can't even do my job.. until it goes away.. it comes and goes. ok well i work in a factory, i balance air condition wheels all day. i stack pallets and i am constantly picking up wheels. and i put little weights on them. use my fingers alot
Do my symptoms relate with hypermobility? I am 15 years old. I have been sick for two years. I miss a lot of school with medical permission. Lupus runs in family, and rheum. thought I might have it. I have not been tested by any bloodwork except my elevated sed. rate. I was just diagnosed with hyper mobility syndrome and patellofemoral syndrome (chondromalacia patella). My symptoms include, ofcourse, pain in joints and bones...length of arm, leg, feet, toes, hands, fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulders, everything except hips. I have gastritis and erosion, but biopsies show nothing. I am immune to most medicines, unknown cause. My symptoms of illness include: fevers, frequent illness, headaches and migraines, crushing pain in chest, pain in chest, pain in ribcages with trouble moving and breathing, scoliosis, shocks in spine with make my legs collapse and I fall, shooting pains in stomach and chest to brain, fatigue, always sleeping, rashes, in sun get rashes on chest and neck. And more personal/serious ones. Oh, I also get frequent sore throats, nose bleeds (in 2006, 1-2 per day)=anemia, nasal sores, and vomitting. I am going back to school in a week. I was prescribed physical therapy and an anti inflamatory. I want to make sure my medicine will work (Meloxin or something?), beacuse I missed too much school on medical excuses, and I can't do it this year. I want to know if I got the right diagnosis ? And if you have these symptoms too with HMS?
I have pain in my wrists, fingers, knees, and back. X-ray shows no Arthritis, what could it be? I have had physical pain for at least 5 years now. I was in an abusive relationship at one time, so I figured it was injuries from this. I have recently told my doctor about these symptoms. She checked for Arthritis by blood testing and x-rays-found nothing. In my hands and wrists, it is often shooting pain, and throbbing, they other ares of my body are aches and pains. I am only 27, what gives?
Need some help having pain in knees,shins,wrist,fingers...? I have been having pain in my knees and shins and in my finger and wrist... I have had dull pain on and off in my ankles since I was a kid but it seems these past few years I have begun having other pain. I began having back pain about 5 years ago.. it's been on and off, dull ,achy feeling......over the past two years its been occurring very frequently but I have got a bit used to it even though it is uncomfortable.... Last year I started having pain in my knees it was only once or twice.. but within the last few months has become frequent as has the pain in my shins and in my wrist and fingers... My right hand falls asleep often too and I have itching on my palm on my right hand now to.... I cant help but think this has all got to tie in together somehow and be some disease... I have thought maybe a B12 deficiency,Arthritis, I just see all these symptoms in so many conditions... unfortunately my insurance sucks so I will not be seeing a doc. anytime soon.... (also ;dont know if its significant but when I was 16 I had Mono so bad I was on bed rest for 3months, I heard viral infections can be a factor in autoimmune disease, and I also have had significant problems with allergies since childhood) Hope someone can lead me in the right direction.
what has symptoms similar to carpul tunnel syndrome? tingling, swelling, and pain in two fingers one on each hand. pain and stiffness when standing from a sitting position. Have a mild case of carpul tunnel, am right handed but show more signs of carpul tunnel in left. wrist do not hurt. Only the two fingers and legs.History of cancer, lymph nodes removed from left underarm. occasional jumping motion once laying down and relaxing.
Can anybody help me with my wrist pains? Hello everybody, for the past 2 or 3 days I've been having pains in my left wrist (I'm right handed) Its not carpal tunnel, at least I don't think so. I have looked up the symptoms for carpal tunnel, and I have none of them. My wrist only hurts when I bend it around 90 degrees down, or bend it certain ways. When it does hurt, it feels like something is being pinched, like a nerve. Did I just sleep on it funny? Any help appreciated! ^^
These are the symptoms of my wrist injury can someone help me diagnosis whats wrong? About 22 days ago I was getting into our truck and with one foot on the step and one hand on the door handle I slipped on the ice and fell. I immediately felt a deep sharp pain in my wrist. Not enough to make me scream or bust out is sobs but it really hurt. It was twisted from hanging on to the door handle and from moving to break my fall. It's been more than three weeks with a brace on and the swelling hasn't gone down at all but it's not bruised. I noticed that when I grip things my wrist makes a soft cracking or popping sound. What is wrong with it? My fingers seem fully functional so it can't be broken. Any suggestions? What about a torn ligament?
Pain in my right hand? I have a throbbing pain in my right palm closer to my thumb, and it gets worse when I write for long periods of time. I'm a student and I pride myself on taking lots of notes, I also type a lot. I looked up the symptoms of carpal tunnel but those seem to be much more severe than what I have plus I dont really have much pain in my wrist. Just that when I type (like rite now) my forearm gets tense. I'm not sure what it could be, other than maybe developing signs of carpal tunnel. Any ideas?
What could be causing arm, wrist and elbow pain and numbness? For the last few months I've been experiencing pain and swelling from my elbow to my fingertips in both arms. The pain isn't consistently in one area, but random. One moment the underside of my hand has dull/achy pain, then my forearm has a sharp sudden pain, then pain in two of my knuckles, and so on. The pain seemed to recede when I adjust my chair at work, but it's really come back with a vengeance lately to the point where my wrist can't really take a lot of weight and my muscles tire very quickly (my keyboarding skills are going down-- I do work in front of a computer all day). There's also very traveling tingling/numbness that doesn't seem to have a pattern to it either (again from elbow to fingertip). The doctor is currently having some blood work processed for me for rheumatoid arthritis which I had as a teen for a couple of years, but this doesn't feel like it. I've had tendinitis before as well, and this feels a little closer to it, but I've never experienced it in both arms and having the numbness. I've only done internet research on Carpal Tunnel, but it doesn't sound likely. Has anyone experience these symptoms before or have any thoughts or information I may not be considering?? I'm 26 years old, if that makes a difference.
WEIRD symptoms.. what is wrong with me? Stroke? Brain tumor? Stress? WHAT!? Don't want to run to the doctor's if its nothing, but it may not be nothing? Here are the symptoms: I was driving today and all of a sudden my mind got really foggy, I couldn't form a sentence, and got a shooting headache at the top of my head. Then weirdly my left shoulder started to ache, then my left elbow, then left wrist/hand had shooting pain... then left abdomen under ribcage in the front had random shooting pain, and what felt like my left ovary (which I know has a cyst on it) had shooting pain... HUH? Also, recently I have felt "foggy headed" almost all the time every day. I can't talk right (it sounds like I'm drunk but I'm not) and throughout the day I get randomly the same shooting pain in my left front abdomen on the side and in the left ovary... Someone have an idea?
wrist and hand pain during pregnancy? I wanted to know if having pain in your wrist and hand normal during pregnancy. If there's someone who has had the same symptoms could you please help me.
Fingers, wrists and arm pain for 2 months, then onset of neck, back of ear and shoulder pain? For the last 2.5 months, I have had general fatigue and weakness in both arms and hands. Also, both wrists and all of my 10 fingers hurt - 24x7. Some days the pain is worse than other days. There is a lot of stiffness. Also, I feel like popping my fingers all the time...to feel some relief. All blood tests (ESR, Mono, Lyme, Rheumatoid Factor) came negative. X-rays show nothing abnormal. MRI shows a tear in TFCC in the right wrist, a small cyst in the right wrist, and some fluid build up in the left wrist. The Ortho surgeon said that the tear is most likely due to overuse (I have an 18-month old who I lift etc). Otherwise, he did not know what to conclude regarding the pain in ALL fingers. He said I should see if the pain level changes in the next couple of months, and then come back. In the last 10 days, I have developed, in addition to hand related pain, pain around my right ear, in the right side of neck and shoulder, under the jaw. There is also a lot of stiffness. I have an appointment with Rheumatologist in 10 days, but my symptoms are just getting worse. Anybody have any idea what it could be? Thanks!
how do you adjust or do exercises for the nerves that leave the neck and cause hand pain. I think its c6 c7? Hello, I have had hand pain for along time in my fingers (all) both left and right hand. Had two carpal tunnel and removed the rib from the thoracic outlet syndrome. My finger tips seem to shoot shocks up the arm with pressure. I have itching in the effected side in the neck by the clav in my neck area. My symptoms of hand pain are, clumsy fingers and shooting shocks in the finger tips and tightness in the fingers while playing guitar (fretting hand). I t also happens when i play the piano too. I feel like its a physical problem like osteoarthritis tendinitis or even a pinched nerve. i have no hand pain in the fingers or wrist and do do neck exercises for thoracic outlet syndrome ( bending neck with arm down and shoulder rolls) . what is this? and how do i do neck exercises if it is a pinched nerve at c6 or c7? Please if anyone has at least one or more of these issues, please don't be afraid to comment. Lou .
Pain in spine at neck , right shoulder, upper right arm, below elbow & hand? Description of symptoms: Pain in neck (at base), in right shoulder, upper right arm muscle radiating directly below elbow (back side) radiating to lower arm (front side) into wrist and fingers. Wrist feels tight like a rubber band is constricting wrist. Difficult to use right hand and arm even to do simple tasks. ie. open water bottle, type, grasp objects, push TV remote using pointer finger, unable to hook bra, tie shoes, cut meat, put shirt on without pain increasing. Pain lingers after any type of physical activity. Vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing toilet, hanging up clothes causes extreme pain. Ice and heat relieve pain slightly, medication ie. morphine, hydrocodine relieve pain temporarily. The onset of my condition started in 1992 and becchroniconic in 2002 after I hyper extended my right arm while tip toeing to put a box on the top of a bunk bed.
i have hand and wrist pain/tingling/numbness/coldness. please help? i have been dealing with this problem for close to 8 years. I've read multiple forums and haven't found too many descriptions that match my condition exactly. I have pain/tingling/numbness in both hands, mostly focused on the fifth fourth and third fingers, but the thumb and first finger have them also. the symptoms radiate through my hand into my palm. THe pain goes through to me elbow on the underside of my forarm, and also over the top. i have elbow pain/bothersom feeling on the inside of me elbow and stifness going up through my pec and shoulder into my back. Lately my hands feel extremely cold any time i have to type or do things that require movement of my fingers. Sometimes after a long day my fourth and third fingers will naturally gravitate towards one another and it will feel like they are stuck together. I can move them but their "at rest" place after a long day is next to each other, like they are tied together. I am usually tired but not overly so (i try to sleep right but usually am getting 6-7 hours). I am in the gym at least 5 days a week, sometimes 2x a day, i ski 50+ days a year, and have recently started doing Crossfit. None of this seems to affect my symptoms one way or the other. i have seen my GP, hand surgeon, phsyiatrist, phsyical medicine, PT, and orthopedic surgeon. Multiple people in most of those specialties. My next stop is a couple neoroligists. This problem is affecting my life ie i've had to quit jobs and can't plan for my future. i'm 25 years old and incredibly healthy otherwise. I did drank hard in college, which i've since cut down on drastically, rarely smoke, and eat well. I avoid other drugs. Can anyone please help me? Just a solid point in the right direction would be amazing. I can be reached at anderson.erich@yahoo.com or Westernguy85@gmail.com i've probably been tested 5 different times for carpal tunnel, it's not that. there's no swelling at the base of my hand, and carpal tunnel usually only affects the 3 fingers that the carpal nerve leads to...thumb, pointer, middle. CT usually doesn't affect the 4th and 5th fingers.

I have a pain in my wrist but it only occurs if i move my wrist or bend it. i have had symptoms like this before but there was also loads of bruising, there is no bruising, just really painful. I have been taking paracetamol to try and help the pain but it help very little, i also have a bruise on my left hand could this be anything to do with the pain in my wrist? Please answer! Did I break my hand/wrist? My parent's won't take me to a doctor.? This is long but please read! Okay so I'm a 15 year old girl and I think I may have broken my wrist/hand. I'm not sure which though because the part that hurts is the top of my hand, so I'm pretty sure it's my hand. Maybe it's my wrist though, I don't really know. The problem is: my parents don't believe me. I'm VERY clumsy. I'm always falling (not on purpose) or tripping over things, but I've never broken a bone before. I fell down a flight of stairs and thought I had broken a bone in my foot. It was bruised and swollen, I had a ton of the symptoms of a broken foot but I got an X-ray and it turned out to just be deeply bruised. So my parent's don't like to take me to get X-rays because I always end up just deeply bruised and they have to spend a ton of money on the X-ray. Anyways, a few months ago, I fell while running and smacked the top of my hand on hardwood flooring. It hurt really bad and was bruised a little. I asked a question about it and everyone told me it was probably broken but my parents didn't take me to get it X-rayed. Now, a few months later, that same hand (left) is causing me a lot of pain. When I turn doorknobs with my left hand, the top of my hand hurts very badly. The part that hurts is that kind of small ball shaped bone. On my right hand, when I feel that bone, everything feels fine. But on my left hand (the one that hurts), when I feel that bone, it feels like there are little crunchy pieces around it and it hurts. My parents felt the bone in both of my hands and say that they're the same but I feel pain on the left hand and not on the right. It's also lightly bruised on the skin. I was carrying a textbook in my left hand and I dropped it because it felt like my wrist would snap. If I lift lighter things it doesn't hurt as badly. I have also been losing feeling in my left arm for five minutes a day the past two days. I've heard that if you don't get X-rays when you need them the pain can come back later on. Could that have happened to me? Are there any ways I can tell for myself if I broke a small bone in my hand so I don't have to go to a doctor? Do I need to go to a doctor or am I just being paranoid? Thanks. Or do you think it's just "deeply bruised" Also when I type, my left hand feels all tingly. I meant I think I fractured it, not broke it. Sorry!
What is wrong with my wrist/hand? (rsi)? Hiya I have a problem with my hand, wrist and fingers. I am going to the doctors tommorow (again) about it, but I just wanted to get another opinion beforehand. I went to a doctor before and she said it was nothing I would be fine, blah, blah blah.. Anyway, I get this stiffness in my hands if I type or use a computer for too long, but the main symptom is in my right hand, middle and the ring finger. Whenever I grip something tightly, my finger kind of doesn't relax quickly after the muscles tighten to grip. If I release my grip slowly, for example over a second or two, it doesn't happen, but If I grip hard then let go instantly, I get that horrible sensation. It feels like a weakness in my fingers, like when you hit your funny bone, but the feeling goes in a few seconds. As I said, it almost seems like the muscles lag to return to relaxed state. I don't have much pain, apart from occasional back pain, and pain in the inside of my elbow joint when I fully extend my arm. I suspect some sort of rsi, but I really want to get it diagnosed and sorted out. My right hand has become very "clicky", ie, it clicks a lot when I move it about. Also, when you place my other finger just below the base of my right index finger(palm side) then curl the index finger up, you can feel a tendon or something moving beneath, which I cannot feel when I do the same thing with my other hand Sorry about the confusing symptoms, I tried my best to explain them haha.. Thanks :)
Why am I getting a sharp pain in my pinky and sometimes wrist? After writing for a while i get sharp pains in my pinky finger and i can no longer write. This has been going on for years i just have not addressed it. Also i have noticed on the same hand my wrist always has a sharp pain on the same pinky finger side. this only happens after using it too much such as doing handstands or some how bending my wrist multiple times in a day. Are these symptoms of anything? Thanks!
I've been expericencing pain in my hand. Please help? Over the past few months, I've been having a reoccuring pain in my right hand. It stems from the base of my thumb, where it meets the bone of my index finger. It will often fade for a few weeks, then start up again, often when I do something that involves my thumb on that finger, such as playing my cello for extended periods of time. I'm only sixteen, so I don't believe it's arthritis. I also looked up the symptoms, and it doesn't sound like arthritis either. I feel pain while lifting things, holding things, and also if I lean on my hand. If I try to roll my wrist around, it hurts. I also feel pain when moving my thumb into some positions. My mother has been convinced it's just a tendon that needs to be stretched, and has refused to take me to see a doctor. However, now I've started to feel pain across the other areas where my fingers meet my wrist, and she says we'll ask about it at my next physical, which may be up to a month from now, depending on when she can get an appoinment. I would just like to know what this possibly could be, and if I should be concerned about it. Can it wait until a month? Or should I see a doctor now?
Pain in my wrist and forearm.? Basically, I was sitting here typing and then a sudden shooting pain shot up my wrist. I do type a lot, but I haven't experienced any of problems with my wrist. Symptoms: > When I turn my wrist on the side, it hurts up my arm to just before my elbow. > The whole of my left forearm is slightly numb. > When I turn my wrist to face the ceiling, it hurts. > I am not experiencing any numbness or tingling in my hand. Please help:D Can I also have some advice on how I can help prevent the pain and when it will go away?
Pain wrist and sensitive skin? For about 2-3 days the skin on my right arm and hand has been really sensitive and is painful to touch or rub. Also my wrist is sometimes quite painful on the outside side and also my little finger. any ideas what it could be? Also there are no visible symptoms, no rash, redness or swelling.
Wrist pain, what could it be, what caused it, symptoms and treatment? It's more like, when you look at your wrist with your left palm, facing towards you, you'll see two tendons in the middle, it's immediately to the right of it. It hurts most when i push something or just by rotating my wrist/hand. I do usual household chores like, cleaning, washing dishes, and I do play piano or xbox whenever i'm bored. what could it possibly be? what could've caused it? what are the common symptoms so it can be treated if it happens again in the future? what are the common treatment/s for it and/or what can i do to prevent it or make it feels better atleast?
Strumming hand wrist pains/inflammation questions? Hey guys I've been playing guitar for 10 years now, and these last 5 days I've begun to display symptoms of what may appear to be tendonitis or possibly RSI. It started right underneath my thumb and eventually moved to my wrist tendons. Starting today the top of my wrist (just below where the wrist meets the top of the hand) is inflammed on the left side toward my thumb. It doesn't hurt astronomically but aches, and when I feel it the spot with my left hand I can really feel the bone when I move the strumming hand left and right. In the last days I haven't completely quit playing guitar but I have reduced it down to about an hour max a day. I have iced it a few times a day (I know how to properly) ice. The pain doesn't happen very often unless I'm doing something to aggravate it, but sometimes throughout the day I can definitely feel it more and less for no apparent reason. I will schedule a doctor's appointment but I just wanted to know if anyone on here has any ideas. I use good technique even though I don't always warm up which could be the case. So anyway here's the facts again: 1. Strumming hand started aching 5 days ago just underneath thumb 2. A couple days later it moved to the wrist tendons. 3. The pain is now on top of my strumming hand wrist accompanied by some inflammation (no discoloration). 4. The pain is aggravated by using the hand but does not hurt when not using it. There have been a few times in the past five days where it DID hurt without using it but also went away. 5. When I use my left hand to feel the inflammation, I can feel the bone moving when I move my strumming hand wrist back and forth. I'll try much harder to use proper technique always if that is the ultimate reason. The pain is not unbearable, I can still grip things so I don't think I dislocated my wrist or anything. Anyway answers would be appreciated :) thank you
Wrist/Hand pain and numbness (Not Carpal Tunnel)? I went to the doctors today after weeks of wrist and hand pain and numbness in my right hand/wrist. They did the test where they put an electrical current in wrist to the fingers to see if the nerve is damage. It came back normal. Now they are saying they don't know what it is. Can anyone help me? Symptoms: Pain in wrist, more when moving, but sometimes just ask I sit here. Numbness in my thumb and pointer finger. Doesn't feel asleep, feels numb, different sensation then the rest of my fingers. Shooting pain up arm to elbow. Weakness in whole hand. Shooting pain from wrist to fingers. mostly the side of the thumb to middle finger. I don't know what to do anymore.I can't take time off of work, i just can't afford it. Left hand is starting to have same symptoms. Serious answers only. Also was thinking it had to with inflammation. A year ago April I had to have my gallbladder out because it became inflamed. This year in March I had to have my bursa in my knee taken out because it became inflamed after I fell on it. Both of these times I started having my period ALL THE TIME. Twice they have had to do Biopsy's on my uterine lining and it came back INFLAMED! Once I had the inflammation removed it stopped. Again I am having the same issue with the period and again something else is bothering me at the same time. Ideas?
Bones in wrist/hand and shin hurt? I'm 19 and pretty healthy. I'm not overweight and I'm not diabetic or anything, as far as I know. But over about the last year or so, I've been getting strange pains in my wrists, hands, and shins. I first noticed my wrists and hands hurting when I was driving and the AC was blowing on them. The bones would ache really badly and I'd have to take turns letting them rest in my lap until they stopped hurting. My shin bones will get the same ache, but they seem very random. I thought it might be weather-related, but they all also hurt when the weather is constant. The hands/wrists will hurt at the same time, usually, but the shins won't, and it's usually only one at a time. Does anyone know of a possible cause for this? I don't think it's Lupus, as achy bones are the only significant symptom I have. I don't crack my wrist or fingers. I was on my high school swim team for three years, but it never hurt while I was. I probably will end up going to a doctor, but if I can get some idea of what it might be before going, that'd be great. Thanks. :)
Wrist pain thumb side? I have been suffering chronic pain on my wrist thumb side of my right hand. It doesn't hurt as much if i rotate my thumb. But there is a very sharp pain (wrist thumb side) if i try to move or place my thumb inward, as in tucking my thumb in a fist. In fact, I cannot even put my thumb inside my fist or move my thumb more than 1 cm inwards. It even hurts my wrist just making a fist with the thumb outside of the fist. I have went to the doctor and had blood work and Xray. Neither test showed any problems at all. The Doctor think its wrist tendonitis so i was sent home to rest. It has been months and still no improvement. Is there any other disease associated with this symptom?
What causes these hand/arm symptoms? I'm 19, healthy, and do have tendinitis in my wrist but it hasn't flared in months. I can't recall injuring myself, but might have if this is happening unless this is being caused by something else medical. I have inflammation from my hand up to my elbow, I am having hand tremors, hand/arm are numb and feel heavy, when I bend my wrist up or down I feel a strain in my forearm, my pinky and ring finger are the stiffest (pinky's locking up), I'm having trouble keeping my hand completely open (this is when the tremors are the worst) like it feels strained and then relieved when I bend my fingers to where my hand is not completely flat. Don't really feel pain in my elbow, and only have occasional very sharp pains in my wrist. Does anyone know what's could cause this?
I play guitar a lot and noticing some pain in my left wrist? I play guitar and bass frequently. Recently my left wrist, which is on my fretting hand feels some sort of pressure pressing on to it. Could I be having carpal tunnel syndrome? What are the symptoms of it? I've heard of it but never really knew what it really felt like.
Really painful wrist pain? A few days ago, I noticed that my wrist was hurting pretty bad, but I didn't know what it was from. The pain is on the top side of my right hand, which is my dominate hand. It hurts when I move it from left to right, or when I pick something up with that hand, I can feel it and it hurts. It also sometimes feels weak, like I can't do anything with that hand. Also, when I scroll up and down on my ipod touch, I can feel it the most....because i scroll with my thumb and the pain is like right below it. I type and text a lot, so I thought it might be from that too, but I'm not sure. I looked up symptoms of carpal tunnel and tendonitis, but I've got a lot of different answers. My mom won't take me to the doctors and all she said was that i'll be fine. I'm just wondering what it might be? Because it hurts really bad. (Sorry if some of the describing was confusing, I just don't know how to describe it) haha. I don't know if this will help, but also when I wake up in the morning and try to move it, it hurts the most and I just don't move it at all for awhile because it's just to painful. Help?

Do these wrist symptoms sound like arthritis? Two months ago I started feeling pain in both thumbs from what I thought was repetitive strain from lifting boxes at work and stopped using my hands for a couple of weeks (to the best of my ability). Suddenly the pain spread to my wrists and forearms, then elbows and shoulders. The pain in my upper arms has finally settled and my thumbs aren't so bad after two months, but I still have problems with my wrists. Almost any activity that involves significant wrist movement makes them feel sprained. I also get some aching across my fingers and "carpal tunnel" symptoms that goes away with rest. There is no visible swelling but it just doesn't seem to want to go away. I have used ice and had physiotherapy but nothing helps. I sometimes wake up and my entire body is sore and stiff, including my hands. I get migratory mild pain in other joints but I never thought anything of it. I am 22. Does this sound like some form of arthritis?
Ulnar Side Wrist Pain / Numb / Clicking? For at least the past three years I have had trouble with my wrist. As a rule, it doesn't bother me too much, though it has been problematic for over a week straight. Symptoms: - Wrist pain **My pain is located in the 'ulnar' side of the wrist, close to the round bone ( unsure of name, it's on the pinky side ). The pain is an aching feeling. Over time, the pain may spread into the elbow, however it begins and focuses in the wrist. - Numb/Tingling **Pinky and ring finger go numb/tingle, can't tell if middle finger does too, or not. Seems to vary. - Clicking **When elbow to hand are straight, wrist clicks when moved from side to side. Clicking is heard and felt when the hand moves towards the ulnar side ( pinky side ). Click can also be felt but not heard when hand it moved up and down. Clicking causes ache. - Weakness **I have trouble picking things up, unless lightweight, due to the pain and just a general feeling that I can't continue to hold something with it. So far, the only thing that helps is wrapping it. However, the wrap has to be done just right, or it increases the pain. When wrapped, it had to be fairly tight, mostly around the wrist, of course, and looped once or twice between the thumb and index finger. I realize that it would be best to see a doctor, and when possible, I will.. however, for the time being, I'd like to have a 'best guess' of what the problem is, and anything else that can be done, besides or along with wrapping, to alleviate the ache. I have not had any trauma that I remember to the wrist, and don't know when it first began. Damp and cold worsen the ache. I'm not actively involved in any form of sport, though I do actively use a computer. The wrist is my left one, and I am ambidextrous, however I write solely with my right hand, and do most other things with my left ( picking things up, etc ). I am seventeen. Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated.
