Wrist Fracture from years ago still causes pain? Two and a half years ago I injured my wrist playing basketball. I fell backwards on my right wrist causing a fracture below the thumb in the little indentation on my wrist. It was cast for over 9 weeks and i wore a splint for two weeks and thent he doctors said it was fine. However now years later it is still causing me a great deal of pain and will start throbbing randomly. It causes me the most pain when i move my hand up or left. What does this mean?
What could be causing my wrist pain? I don't have any numbness or weakness, just pain and lack of flexibility in the wrist. I've looked at the descriptions of tendonitis, burstitis and carpal tunnel, but none seems to fit. I do have a small ganglion cyst on the back of the wrist, but I didn't think those were supposed to cause pain. I'm going to the doctor to have it checked out soon, but I'd like some info before hand. Any ideas?
What causes pain and reduced extension of the wrist? There is no swelling, redness or trauma. Pain occurs when lifting things up, or holding things in a certain way. The pain is remitting and relapsing. Extension is considerably reduced compared to the other wrist. The sufferer has a desk-based job.
What is the diagnosis of my wrist pain? I have pain in my wrist that lasts for about a week or so, but only flares up every 3-6 months. Nothing seems to provoke it, it just happens. The pain is extreme...it's not painful to the touch, but rather when I flex or extend my wrist. Putting any sort of load on my wrist also causes it pain. The pain can get to the point where even holding a cup of water is painful.
Could taking Advil for my wrist pain cause stomach issues? I hurt my wrist at the beginning of Feb. and the doctor prescribed 3 Advil 3 times a day. I did this for about 10 days-2 weeks. I then began having a very upset stomach that lasted for weeks, and last night I vomited multiple times seemingly out of no where. However, I haven't really taken Advil much the past weeks. Could the Advil from before be the cause? Will these new symptoms go away?
What is the problem when my tendon is popping over my outside wrist bone and causing pain and numbness? I injured my wrist a few years back while playing racquetball. This injury has been persistent, regardless periods of inactivity. The tendon that runs on the outside of my right arm pops over my wrist bone on the outside of my hand. If I am lifting something heavy when this happens, it is very painful and forces my grip to go weak. Also, when I play sports, or participate in heavy lifting, my wrist is sore for many days after. I am ready to go do whatever needs to be done to fix this condition. Can anyone tell me what the condition this is, or give me some insight before I go see a specialist?
Carpal tunnel causes cracking wrist/pain in thumb? Recently I had what the doctor thought was tendinitis, but they did an EMG test, and I definitely have "mild" carpal tunnel. As I'm only 19 years old, the doctor recommended surgery. However, it seems like my wrist 'cracks' more than usual. Also, every once in awhile, I'll get more of a sharp pain right in the base of my thumb that seems to be alleviated by cracking it. While I'm assuming carpal tunnel isn't helping these things, could it also be causing these symptoms too? If I have surgery, it would be nice to know that these symptoms may be remedied too. Thanks in advance! Also, I assume it's normal for CT to produce an ache in the wrist and a little bit in the fingers?
What Is Causing Long Term Wrist Pain? Hello, I am curious as to what may cause wrist pain that's been lasting for years. I am a former guitarist/pianist, and I stopped playing the instruments because it made the pain worse; however, after months of not playing I still have pain. I've seen an orthopedist who seemed puzzled. The neurologist found nothing wrong in conduction tests. X-rays revealed no anomalies. The rheumatologist had little advice. Cock-up wrist splints do not seem to help. The pain is characterized by an electrical/stinging in both hands and up to my elbow. Nearly all of the joints in my hands have a dull pain. The discomfort is worse between the thumb and index fingers and also the muscle by the pinky finger. The pain is not constant; however, it does not need any kind of motion or trigger to start up. There is no swelling to my wrists or arms, either. Obviously more doctor visits will be in my future, but in the mean time can someone give some SUGGESTIONS as to what may be going on? Many thanks.
Yardwork caused wrist pain? I had to trim 5 of our overgrown bushes yesterday and today my wrist (right) hurts REALLY badly. I can barely move it. What happened?
pain from wrist to elbow? i have a dull throbbing pain from my right wrist (towards the outside of my arm) along my arm into my elbow. it sometimes become a sharp pain. i believe it may be from typing a lot on the computer since i usually am on it for around 4-5 hours a day. writing has also caused pain, and i am right handed. also, if i shake my wrist (which causes it to pop) then tilt my wrist to the right there is a deep pop which feels like it reverberating through into my elbow. the same thing will happen if i roll my wrist. titling my wrist upwards also is painful, especially if held. i don't think that it is carpal tunnel because from what i've read, there is usually numbness or weakening of the fingers and things of that sort, which i do not have. any ideas?
What is causing my wrist pain? I have pain on the top side of my right wrist (opposite side of the palm). I have occasional numbness and burning sensation on the top, and a slightly reduced range of motion. The pain exists mostly with motion in the wrist, particularly when bending it back. When typing quickly I have pain through my forearm and through the top of my hand on the side of my ring finger and pinky. I don't think it is carpal tunnel sense the pain is on the opposite side of where carpal tunnel pain typically exists.
What would cause wrist pain when pushing up off the floor to get up or to do sit ups? This is really the only time it hurts, so I don't expect it until I go to do one of these things. If I make a fist and push up on it, that doesn't hurt. I just can not flex my hand back to push myself up. It's like something is out of whack or out of place. It comes and goes is what's really weird. Could I just be sleeping weird. I do cram my hands up under my head when I sleep, but other than that I can't imagine what else is causing it. It's super aggravating because I like to do Pilate's and a lot of the exercises are on your hands and knees and that position just hurts to much. Any advice or answers to what would cause this would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Wrist Pain - Possible Causes? I am currently seeing a Physio about this, but I don't seem to be seeing any real improvement. I have had left wrist pain for 3-4 months now (I am right handed), and I can't actually imagine it not being there anymore. The pain started just in the wrist, but now radiates up the back of my hand - to the knuckles. It is on the top of my hand - not the palm. It is generally a mild pain, but can be very sharp if a sudden/unexpected stress it put upon it. If I put pressure on my hand so that it bends downwards (towards the floor) I get a shooting pain, but sometimes the back of my hand will just ache... it's like toothache or a headache and I usually stretch/rub my hand to try and get rid of it (generally it doesn't last for more than a few minutes). The condition never goes away, but some days it's better than others. I cannot support a lot of weight with this hand as it will hurt, and it sometimes interferes with simple tasks, like undressing (e.g. putting my hand behind my back to undo a clasp) or putting a bag onto my left shoulder. My job involves quite a lot of lifting/repetitive tasks as I work with babies - and being at work does seem to make the symptoms worse, but I have had three weeks off recently and still experienced pain. My Physio firstly told me that she thinks it is sprained - however I have not fallen on it or anything, but most recently told me she believes it is a stretched tendon. I can believe this, due to the shooting pain, but would I experience aching with that and why have I seen no drastic improvement? I am concerned that it could be arthritis - but do not know if my symptoms are too mild for that/don't fit. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience of a similiar thing? I should probably add that I do sometimes also get clicking from the wrist.
What can be the cause of wrist pain? my left wrist has been hurting for the past couple of days. it only hurts when I move my hand around or bend my wrist. I spend a lot of time on the computer, could that be the cause of it?
What conditions cause pain in the top of your wrist? Hi, I have been having pain in the top of my left wrist (I am right-handed). I thought it could be carpal tunnel but I am only 22yrs old and use my right hand much more. What else could it be? I am pretty sure nothing is broken. Thank you!
What is the cause of wrist and forearm pain when I'm working out? I have been weightlifting 4 days a week for almost a year. About two months ago I started to experience pain on my outer wrists (opposite my thumb) and about 3 or 4 inches up the outer side of my forearm. The pain doesn't come on during my reps, it's after I release the weight that I feel a sharp pain for about 5 or 6 seconds and then it subsides. After working out, it's sore for a few hours and then usually disappears. After 2 or 3 days of not working out, there is no pain or soreness at all. Bending my wrists foreward or back, left or right seem to cause no additional pain... it only happens when I release the weight and it only happens with certain exercises (especially barbell curls and some dumbell exercises). When I googled the problem people seemed to have similar issues, but nobody has a clear solution or diagnosis. Can anyone shed light?

Hand/Wrist pain caused by a hit? Okay, hi for starters. I got hit by a ball yesterday during some soccer practice. The ball wasn't going that fast but my hand was in a weird position. It hit me and i felt pain immediately. This pain continues up till today and it doesn't seem to get any weaker. The pain is located just under the hand, where the veins are. It isn't swollen and i don't have tingling, so i don't think it's a fracture. I think i got hit in the nerve or something and now it is going to hurt as hell for some time. It hurts when i try to bend it downwards and when i try to carry some stuff around. So any action with my hand moving results in pain. Also when i try to move my fingers a bit only my ring finger feels some kind of i dunno, difficulties to move. Any ideas what it is and how can i treat it because it is quite annoying ?
What causes pain in the arm and a green stripe going up the inside of the arm? My son went swimming today and is now complaining of severe pain in his arm. I looked at the arm and there's a noticeable green stripe going from his wrist to his inner elbow. Could this be from a watch that's too tight? Sorry guys...I don't have a son...my mom hacked my username and is now posting random questions.........great Ya, and my dad said it was a vein too! My brother is just overreacting! I have the same thing... plus my dad's a docter!

She is suffering know, at 44, of wrist, neck and finger pains in such a way, that after 2 months of being diagnosed 100%, sometimes she is unable to grab a dish or write in her computer. I wish there could be a natural herb or easy remedy or relief for her situation. Being her a heartly giver, all her fortune has being spent in taking care of people, and at her age, it is gonna be hard for her work to continue... pain in the thumb and numbness in the tips of the fingers.? grasping and pressure on the wrist causes severe pain in the wrist. both hands feel numb but the right hand thumb seems to feel worse. i work in a restaurant and use my mobile phone a bit too much, which i mainly use my thumbs for. anyone help because the doctor cant.
what's causing pain in my wrist? i'm a gymnast, and i twisted my wrist a pretty good ways around about three weeks ago. The doctor told me to stay off of it for a week, so i did. The pain is not getting any better, in fact it's getting worse. It's very sharp stab like pains that shoot up my wrist, and throbbing after i workout. There is miscoloration. any ideas on what it could be?
Advice on wrist pain? My wrist has been hurting me for a while now since i had my son who is now 6 months. I had carpal tunnel when i was pregnant but i don't get pins and needles or numbness anymore however my wrist bone on my right hand on the inner side of my wrist is really sore i can't touch it without it causing pain or even stroke my inner wrist as it hurts too much. I am having problems lifting my boy up as it is sore. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? thks
Pain in wrists/bones when lifting.? I routinely lift heavy objects at work such as 100+lb porcelain toilettes and 80lb bags of concrete. The 80lb bags of concrete are much more difficult for me to lift because of sharp pains in my wrists from what feels like my bones. I'm assuming that it's easier to lift other objects because they are in large boxes and have handles and what not. I know what it feels like when the muscle is sore. After i try to lift something heavy like that or curl a 30lb barbel, even doing things like twisting or rotating my arm or wrist cause pain. I just started this job a few months ago and i've build a significant amount of muscle and gained a good 20lbs up to about 170lbs 6'2". I'm 20 years old and i'd like to increase my muscle mass but i can't seem to lift much. I guess i could lift less weight at home but at work i have to lift a lot so i'd like to prepare my body for this heavy lifting as much as possible. I also take in a lot of food because i have a pretty high metabolism.
is poor circulation causing pain in my wrist and hand? for years I've had an issue with my pinkie fingers. basically while I sleep on my back it's fairly easy for my pinkies to go numb and wake me up. It seems to be because my elbows are resting on the bed and my hands are on my stomach. once in a while I get a strange pain along the skin on the hand on the same side as the pinkie. The pain is weird and it makes the skin feel very sensitive. The other day it seemed like this pain (that I only get for a brief time maybe once a month on average) spread into my right wrist, still on the same side of my hand and arm, but also under the skin, not just on the surface. Anyone have any info about this?
piano wrist pain when playing. HELP? ive actually asked this question b4, but i didn't really clarify my problem. im quite a good pianist, but when playing big loud chords, eg. rachmaninoff, i really get pain in my wrists AND forearms, but on the top of my forearms, it feels muscular or maby a tendon? nothing else i do causes this and im stumped with what it could be? its really painful and is stopping me play the piano as much as id like. i hold my wrists up so its not that, has anyone got any ideas (its not carpal tunnel syndrome) the speed of a piece dosnt cause pain, just when i play loudly with big chords. PLEASE HELP
Causes and prevention of my wrist pain? Well I've been cutting myself for about three years now and... haha jk I am a bodybuilder and my right wrist really hurts sometimes, especially after workouts I dont know how to stop it all I do is ice my wrist afterwards so anybody know how I can stop this? thanks
Cause for wrist pain? Hey guys. I have just for 2 weeks have had some wrist pain. It is mostly on my right wrist and both sides of the right wrist has some pain when, like, playing basketball or sometimes when using it in certain twisting motions and sometimes when writing. The odd thing is sometimes my left wrist is painful and it's on both sides of the left wrist as well. Although the left wrist recently feels much better and there's not much pain there. But it's not from trauma, the pain anyway. I just did some pushups actually and there wasn't any pain in the wrist, just like kind of tiredness? The pain is pretty mild though nothing severe. But the thing is it isn't the bone, but like I guess ligaments on the sides of the wrist. I look forward to your replies. thanks. From this site http://solver.ivillage.com/symptomsolver/selectSymptoms.cfm my symptoms seem to match up with juvenile arthritis.. any opinions.. that was actually what I was thinking because I had tendinitis of my wrist that just healed (de Queervain's or something like that) and it hurt when I bent it w/ pressure but right now there isn't pain for me when I put pressure on my wrist Also because of both wrists being painful, that makes it seem like arthritis no? Cause it doesn't seem that likely that I would develop tendinitis in both wrists near the same time. I'm not sure though so your opinions on my injury would be nice.
What ailment could be causing my hand/wrist pain? I'll try to be specific; I want to have a little bit of knowledge on this before I get a chance to visit a doctor or something. I've been wonder what it wrong with my hands/wrists for about a year or so now. I can't say how often these symptoms really occur, say, per week, but they happen enough to bother me. Sometimes, my wrists will have a sore or tight pain, and sometimes this extends all the way up to practically my elbow. It makes me feel like stretching the muscles by gently bending my hand back, but this only helps a little. Other times, like now, my fingers are the source of the problem. When I bend them, say, as if I were pretending to have claws, they pop or feel like they're grinding. Sometimes they are so stiff that it is very uncomfortable for me to make a fist. I notice the finger pain more after it rains; the wrist and arm pain after I use my hands a lot. I play video games, write, and type a lot;this may be part of the problem, but I want to be sure. Thanks!
what could be causing my wrist pain? I am a figure skater and it started one day after falling a lot but i don't remember any kind of pop or immediate pain i just noticed it afterward. Now i haven't even skated for a few months but it still hurts often. it gets worse when I've been out in the cold or have been putting pressure on it. It pops a little when i rotate my hand around my wrist but it has done that my whole life. It mostly hurts when i bend it up or back and put any pressure on it. I can't use it do support me if i want to jump up on something or get out of a swimming pool because it hurts so much. I am only 19 and it is only in my right wrist. Thanks so much.
Wrist & hand pain caused by piano or mouse? After two months, I've gotten back to playing piano. My teacher got me right on track with fast Czerny songs, Sonatas, scales, and such. I've done fast songs before and I've never experienced any pain. Soon after I restarted piano, my wrist and hand would be in pain while using the computer mouse. It's not a constant sore but it comes once in a while. It's very painful and it shoots from the wrist to the middle of the back of my hand. Right hand only. Luckily, it only lasts for a few seconds because it can hurt a lot sometimes. Is this any sign of other conditions? Like arthritis or any other things that include bones or joints?
Back Wrist pain for years, comes and goes? I have had wrist pain for many years. Its something that comes and goes. I have had it since i was around 15 or so, I think even younger. I am now 24 years old, a female. But it comes and goes. Last year, it was every few months, and this year its every month or so. It only lasts a few days, up to a week and then it goes away. I get it on both my wrists. I think it would be one wrist and then the next time it would be on the other. Lately, like a couple days ago, my hand started hurting, like an inch away from my wrist, which didnt go away, but i cant tell too much because of the pain in the wrist. I didnt play sports too much, i was always healthy in a way, but i cant do push-ups because it will cause pain. I have never been able to do it. Now when I put pressure on it, kind of like trying to figure out where the pain is, it actually gives me a better feeling, I never understood why, but it makes me feel better. From the pictures i found online, it seems to be felt around the entire circum-ference of the radius just above the wrist always. Does anyone have any idea or clue, insight to whats going on, I have checked carpal tunnel and done the research, but it doesnt appear to be that. Thanks :)
wrist pain on the ball of my palm for a long time, please help? For about the past 6 years or so I have had pain/soreness in my (right) wrist. It is located on the left side of my palm, (when my palm is facing me). I've never gotten it checked out because the pain isn't all too intense, but it especially flares up when I work out, but sometimes it does when I'm not. There is a slight pain there almost constantly. Something I have noticed is that the area on my palm is almost always red, not extremely but noticeably more so than my other palm. Also, when I apply force on my hand and make a curl motion my wrist snaps/pops, it doesn't hurt but it feels unnatural. Another weird thing is, just recently, when I am doing seated rows sometimes the wrist kinda pops, Im not sure it if it is a tendon or the separation of the socket? (It does not cause pain when that happens) I'm asking this now because It is flaring up a bit right now. Typing is a little uncomfortable and I can tell I'm having a little harder time moving my fingers around. What does this sound like to you? Is it carpal tunnel? Any help would be great, thanks! I wanted to add that the pain seems to be traveling up my arm and my elbow is a bit sore. The pain is also now on the thumb side of my wrist and slightly up the thumb.
Unexplainable pain in my wrist? This morning I woke up with this unexplainable pain in my wrist. Yesterday, I did a combination of things. During school I did gymnastics in PE for about an hour, [although it was extremely basic stuff and probably wouldn't have contributed to the pain because most of the stuff I did wasn't strenuous on the hands at all.] After school I had a basketball game, but I don't recall anything hitting my hand, because if it hit my hand hard enough for me to still have pain the next day, you'd think I would notice? I didn't experience any pain last night after the basketball game. I then went home and typed up some homework and that is pretty much all I did. Then, I woke up the next morning and my hand wasn't sore unless I rotated it, or lifted it up and down. It is the wrist joint that is sore. I have had wrist pains before from gymnastics [I am not exactly very fit or flexible but we had to do it in PE] but that pain was nothing compared to the wrist pains I'm having right now. My mum reckons it's RSI from typing up my assignment [which I doubt, because I have typed much more than that at previous times in my life and have never experienced pains from typing. My dad, however, thinks it happened during the basketball game, but I don't remember hurting it then and the pain wasn't there the night before. My friends think that I must have been waving my arms around in my sleep and hit it on something, but I don't think this is likely because if I hurt myself, I would have woken up, and even by hitting it hard, it would only leave a big bruise and wouldn't hurt the joint. So as you can see, I have no idea what is wrong with my wrist. Sorry about the long post but I wanted you to know the full scenario. Does anyone know what might have caused the wrist pains, how serious it is and how to fix it? The pain has been there for a full day, and hasn't subsided, even though I put ice packs on it for most of the day. Thanks. thanks pasha thanks for your help everyone!
What is causing this sudden wrist pain? Ok so....... everyonce in a while (probably every 2 weeks or so), I get this sudden wrist pain, that seems like it comes from nowhere! It will last a day or two days and then just disappear. It happens in both wrists, but mainly the right wrist (im a righty). I have it right now and it kills! I would describe it a muscular pain, and there is no numbness, tingling, or inflamation. My wrist looks completely normal, but hurts so bad i cant turn my car key. any idea of what this could be? Thank you Thank you
Can tendonitis in the wrists cause numbness or tingling in the hands? I developed tentonitis in both wrists about a year ago while working as a teamster in a warehouse. It took over a month to heal up, and I have flare-ups on a regular basis because my current job requires me to type all day (I no longer work in the warehouse). I am dealing with the pain as best I can, wearing my custom splints when I don't have to type, and taking painkillers only when absolutely necessary. Lately, I've been noticing a tingling sensation in my fingers and hands whenever I lean on my elbows, sometimes leading to numbness. Is this from the tendonitis? I have never had this problem before. I also ride a bike on a regular basis (instead of driving, so I do it a lot) which has caused some pain in my shoulders. I have been told that I need to see a chiropractor, and I plan to. However, I'm wondering what the cause of this tingling is. I cannot pinpoint it to correlating with either the wrist pain or the shoulder pain.
Will playing the guitar like this cause long term pain in my wrist? I play fast punk. I only do downstrokes, never any up. This is an example of the speed I play for about 5 minutes solid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNd6k-tZcog Will this cause any long term or perminate wrist pain or damage? My wrist does hurt, but it goes away if I don't play for about 3 or so days. Thank You
Wrist pain because of the way I position my thumb on the neck while playing guitar! Help? When I play the guitar my thumb behind the neck pushes down really hard causing my wrist to become strained and in pain, thus limiting how long I can play. Are there any techniques or certain ways of holding my thumb behind the neck of the acoustic guitar without straining my wrist? Help would be much appreciated, seeing as I really don't want to have to be wearing an Ace bandage while playing the guitar :)
Pain in right wrist after hitting bathroom door, help? I know I am an idiot and got anger issues, put that aside, I have a habit of hitting walls and doors in a stamping down/banging on the wall motion. Its hard to explain, but its so that my pinky down to under the left side of my wrist would hit the wall/door. So I have been doing it a lot for years with minor pain for maybe 5 minutes, but in the past three days i've done it three times, twice on a cheap wooden cabinet door which broke and finally on the hard wooden bathroom door which hardly was scratched. So its been about 3 hours now since the bathroom door and i kept feeling a tingling sensation on my right hand but in the past 30 minutes everything I am doing with the right hand is causing pain and discomfort in the wrist. There is no inflammation or swelling, and I looked up symptoms of a fractured/broken wrists and it doesn't seem to be it. I took some Advil 500 MG about 2 hours ago and the pain is still there. What could be wrong? Should I just go to sleep and wait till tomorrow to see if the pain worsens? If does worsen what could I be looking at? Fractured wrist? Does that require surgery to fix? What if I leave it like it is?
I'm having wrist pain after an IV? I recently had to get several IVs in my left hand over a period of about a week. For the last IV I had to have something radioactive injected for a scan. Since that IV I have an pain in my wrist, and it's been a couple of weeks already. The pain has decreased and it still present, but I was wondering what could have possible caused this pain? It's on the top middle part of my wrist, and it feels like a little squishy knot. I've had this before from IVs in the past and I know the pain will eventually go away. Also, the pain has not spread at all, but stays in the exact same place. I was wondering what causes this pain, and why does it happen? What exactly *is* hurting?
How is the pain for my first tattoo to get it on the side of my wrist? I am planning to get a tattoo in a year or so. And I would want to get it on the side of my wrist or so. It isn't going to be that big. This is going to be the image: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f398/fbrown991/piscestattoo.jpg Is the coloring going to cause more pain? Or is there nothing to fear?
Has anyone broke their Hamate bone? I broke the Hook of the Hamate in my left hand. The bone is floating in my palm rubbing against the nerves that extend from my pinkie to my wrist causing pain in several places along my hand. I go into surgery in a few days to have the broken bone removed from my hand. What can I expect during and after surgery? How long will it take me to recover? Thank you!
Wrist still hurting more than a month later? Hi, a friend a mine fell off his bike a couple months ago and landed on his wrist. We went to the health center/doctor and got an x-ray done as it was very painful and swelling. The x-ray's turned up clear so the doctor gave him painkillers for the next couple days. It's been well over a month and he still has pain in his wrist. He can't lean on his arm/wrist for too long as it causes pain. Question being, what sort of damage could have impacted on his wrist? At first we believed he could have bruised a muscle or tendon, however, there is no bruising or swelling. Just wrist pain. Any ideas? Please and thanks.
How long should a sprained wrist hurt...and is mine sprained? I recently fell hard and caught myself with my wrist causing immediate bad pain...it's been more than a week of wearing a brace and it still hurts! should i go see a doctor and get it xrayed or just wait and see if it gets better. if i should wait then how long. if i slightly move it it hurts although there's no visible swelling. do u think it could be broken or fractured? thanks and bye!
How can I tell if my hand/wrist is broken? Hi, Quick question. Is there any definitive way to tell or eliminate the possibility of my right hand being broken? The palm area between the thumb and wrist has been quite painful (when doing push ups) for the past couple of weeks. The thing is, I can still pick up heavy objects, swing a golf club without too much pain. It is only when I apply pressure to that part of the hand that it causes pain. Any feedback much appreciated :)
Wrist brace for tendonitis causing more pain? I went to the doc yesterday and he told me I have tendonitis in my right wrist. He gave me a brace/splint to immobilize my thumb, told me to wear it (except for showering) for two weeks, and if the pain does not get better to make another appointment. However, I woke up with more stiffness than usual and more pain on the opposite side of my wrist? Is this normal? Anyone else have similar experiences?
Wrist and hand pain the next day after bench press? is it normal to have wrist pain the next day after doing bench press or other "press" workouts i also have some pain on the back of my hand right above the wrist. the pain goes away in a day or 2 and nothing is swelling. its not unbearable. theres just a limited range of motion for my wrist because moving it in certain ways cause pain. its only on my left hand though. and i think if there were any significant ligament or tendon damage that it would last for at least a week.
What types of problems cause wrist and hand pain? I am an 18 year old girl, and I have had hand and wrist pain for a few years now. I have gone to multiple doctors, including juvenile arthritis specialist who was a complete jerk and basically told me to quit doing everything that may cause pain. All the doctors have basically said I'm too young to be experiencing these problems. The pain is in both wrists. It is like a dull ache that sometimes gets sharper. When I wake up my hands, especially my fingers, feel numb and tingling. My fingers are constantly swollen. I also have something called mottling that the arthritis specialist found very interesting. I have very little strength in my hands and have gone though physical therapy to strengthen them. The only problem is that these exercises cause me to be in excruciating pain. My wrist also pops, similar to when you crack or pop your fingers. Please if you have any ideas on what may be causing my pain I would love to hear it. I just want to know different things that can affect hands and wrists. Thank you for your help!!
What are some causes of thumb joint and wrist pain? Besides injury, what could be causing pain at the base knuckle of the thumb, down to the left side of the wrist occasionally when moving/gripping? There's no bruising, no obvious inflammation; just pain..
left wrist pain cause? I have been having increasingly worse wrist pain. I went to an orthopedic doctor and had xray and MRI and he said that he didn't see anything significant beside tendonitis on my left wrist thumb side. He sent me to physical therapy which made the pain worse and hurt now on top of my wrist as well as on the pinky side of my left wrist. He gave me a cortisone shot where my thumb meets my wrist but it doesn't address the rest of the pain. I swear I feel almost a grinding and a popping/maybe clinking feeling on the top of my wrist when I hold my wrist and move it up and down. I don't usually hear actually noise in my wrist but I feel it. He is sending me to a hand specialist. I'm just wondering what you think I will be told considering he said the x ray and MRI are okay. Yeah, the Dr. diagnosed it as de quervain tenosynovitis, I just wasn't sure if people would know what that was. Everyone is really smart! Mols, what kind of surgery was it? What was it like? Yeah, I got a cortisone shot too and it doesn't seem to be working. I see a hand specialist on Aug 25. Anything specific do you think I could mention?
Pressure causes palm and wrist pain? Okay, so I'm not sure if its relevant, but I cheered competitively for six years. From 6-12 years old. I quit about two years ago. I still do some of the moves and parts of the routines, and some of the cheers. So I'm still stretching those same muscles, just not as often. My problem is that whenever I put pressure on my right hand, to do a push up, handstand, cart wheel, round off, front handspring (which I can't do anymore because of my wrist) I have intense stabbing pain. At the bottom of my palm, right about where the bone is, and at the top of my wrist, mostly on the joint. Why is this happening, and what can I do to fix it? Thanks(:
Wrist, forearm, and elbow pain. What is wrong? For a long while, I've been having wrist problems from over use. The pain from that has occurred only on the ulnar side of my wrist and until a short while ago was simply in the wrist. Now, I've been having pains traveling into my pinky (like when I'm typing now) and pain goes up between my radius and ulna a few inches up. leading from the wrist. I am also having pain/cramps in the outer area of my elbow and don't know where this is coming from. I've also been having problems with my fingers because they get really stiff. Now, I don't know if all of these are related or not, but please help! I've been looking online for ideas to what could be going on because it might be a while before I can go to a doctor so I want have more ideas that I can look up. My activities include color guard (which is the reason for my overuse), flute, and piano. The flute causes cramps in my fingers and pain in my wrist and piano causes wrist pain and elbow pain. Obviously, I do type and it hurts my wrist when I do so. Please help so I can at least get some ideas! I don't have any visible swelling or redness, it's mostly just the pain that I'm worried about. The only things I'm good at are color guard, playing flute and piano, and writing. If I can't figure this out, there's not much I'm going to be able to do. Thank you!
What does my girlfriend have, that causes her bones to pop and cause pain? The reason i am writing this is because i am really concerned about my girlfriend, it seems that i noticed her bones or joints pop in her wrists and shoulders, ankles and pretty much all other joints in her body, and whenever it pops it causes alot of pain. She did tell me she never drank milk since she was a little kid cause she said it makes her throw up, she is 19 now, and her bones are always poping and especially her wrists and it causes her pain every time, she does not have any health insurance whatsoever cause her family can't afford it, i feel teribble cause i believe every human being should have the right for good health, but i want to know what causes her join or bones to pop and cause pain, and why are her wrists are going weak and i am really concerned about her health cause she is young she is only 19! I tried getting her calsium supplements hopping it would restore her bones and joints but i don't know i am not a doctor. So my question to you is what exactly does she have and what can we do to treat it? Please if your a doctor or nurse give me your honest answer. Thank You
What could the possible causes be for reoccurring wrist pain? Hi, I have suffered from recurring wrist pain for the last couple of years. The pain is centered in the top of my wrist and only occurs when flex my wrist or push down on the wrist joint. If I press on the area that causes pain I can feel it extend into my middle finger or thumb. I can not put pressure on my wrist at an angle such as when doing a handstand. It has never been swollen though nor is there any lumps. Does anybody know what a possible cause could be and if so any thing I can do to alleviate the pain?
how to play tennis without wrist pain? Back in October last year I got a wrist sprain and it was examined by a occ therapist etc but no scans. Back then it hurt to lift even a 2l bottle of milk. since then ive had the odd episodes of wrist pain when i wriggle my hand from side to side, such as using a mouse for a long time and things like that. I can flick my wrist fine. Today I was playing tennis and im right handed which is annoying coz id have though the one you write with etc is ur stronger hand. I hit a few balls back and they hit the centre of the racquet but it seemed to cause pain in my wrist. Im seeing the OT again on Tues but im just wondering whats the best thing to do for wrist pain when playing tennis?
What could be the cause of my wrist pain? For a few years now I have had a pain in my left wrist. It is not unbearable, it does not hurt all the time. Sometimes it hurts when I try to turn (palm up) slightly more to the left. It's a pain in the joint. I was a data entry keyer for 5 years. My ritght wrist feels fine. What could be causing this? I have no other pain than in my wirst, right where those two balls of bone are. Haha, am not emo and have no idea how that would lead to wrist pain unless I was cutting them. Thanks...next check up I will definetly ask if it's rheumatoid arthritis.
My wrist has been in pain after exercise, what should I do next? I believe it all started almost a week ago and I was doing shoulder curls and used a lot of strength to curl it up. After my workout, I began feeling a tingle on my right wrist and the next morning I could fee resistance/pain. Now, I cannot twist my wrist to a certain angle or the pain will occur. When twisting my palms facing up, the pain on my wrist will re-occur everytime, also doing a wrist curl will cause the pain too. So, what does this mean to me? Do I have "tendonitis"? Any treatments can help the pain? I don't feel pain if my palms are face down though, only if I twist it and doing wrist curls will cause pain/resistance.

What causes arm pain from the elbow to the wrist? I just started getting this pain in my right arm starting from the crease of my elbow to my wrist. It didn't happen while i was asleep because it started out of know where while i was awake. It feels like i got a shot, so now my arm is sore...this has happened on my other arm before but only at the crease of my elbow and it actually felt like i received a shot, but didn't! Just looking for answers making sure there's nothing too wrong, instead of spending a 30 dollar co-pay at the dr!

My wrist Cracked and now it hurts... Broken? I was putting a weight down and my wrist cracked and any pressure on the wrist caused pain after. It has been 2 hours and no swelling and im able to do everything fine but certain twisting of the wirst or bending my wrist all the way back causes pain...
What can I do to get rid of sports-caused wrist pain that I've had for almost 2 years? I played volleyball in high school for 4 years and now have severe pain in my right wrist. My left is not so bad but I cannot wear tight bracelets (such as hair ties) on either wrist and I can't even wear semi-loose ones on my right, it's so bad. When I don't wear anything on them, I usually don't experience pain unless I put a lot of weight or pressure on them. But it starts hurting severely whenever I put a hair tie or bracelet on, even for a short time and its a very achy and persistent and can make my whole hand and forearm be in pain. I want to help heal the wrist because I'm sure it has just been sprained and strained too many times but it's been over a year since I stopped playing sports and it hasn't got any better. Please give me some suggestion or tips on how to ease the pain or heal the wrist!
What could cause wrist pain? I have a sharp stinging pain in my wrist whenever I put weight on it. For example if I'm sitting on the floor and lean on it just shoots pain immediately. Afterward it hurts like a dull ache but goes away after about 30 mins or so. Other than that, it feels fine. I'm worried this could be a repetitive motion injury or like carpal tunnel. I do work as a telephone operator and sit at a computer all day. But I've only been there 2 years and I thought those types of injuries took several years to occur. If you've experienced wrist pain like this, what did it turn out to be and how did you manage it? (other than not using that wrist lol) Thanks in advance for any input or advice!
What could cause wrist pain/clicking? I am 21 years old and for as long as I can remember I have had problems with my right wrist (which is unfortunate because I am right handed). Any quick movements cause my wrist to click loudly and after certain repetitive tasks (vacuuming, writing, typing) I can feel a throbbing pain that sometimes stretches all the way up to my elbow but is mostly concentrated at the wrist. My dad has very bad arthritis in both of his hands and I was curious if my pain could be arthritis or carpal tunnel and if there are any ways to tell.
What is causing my wrist pain? I noticed one day after work last week that my right wrist was hurting. It was kind of a dull ache, and if I moved it in certain ways it caused pain to shoot up my wrist. However, the pain went away the next day. But now it seems to be flaring up after work and certain activities using my wrists. I work at a grocery store bagging groceries, lifting things, and bringing in shopping carts from outside. Also, I have been in gymnastics and dance where my wrists were needed to bare weight frequently. I'm guessing these are probably the causes, but what is wrong with my wrist exactly? Is it simply a strain...or should I have it looked at?
What is causing pain in my left wrist? I'm going to the doctor on Wednesday, but I'd like to have a general idea of its seriousness. I don't remember falling or any strenuous activity. I've been a long-time piano player and was rehearsing heavily up until a few weeks before the pain began. (But again, it was a few weeks ago, and probably has nothing to do with it.) I don't text, nor am I left handed. I don't type all that often, and I'm 16 years old. Symptoms (only in left hand/wrist): Crampy pain between thumb and index finger and to the other side of my thumb Pain along metacarpal of the thumb when moving thumb back and forth Shooting pain if wrist bent too far forward or back Pain radiates up metacarpals Dull pain on the radius side of my arm Thank you for any information you have. Quite frankly, I'm terrified that I won't be able to play cello and piano, so it you have any info on how my condition will affect that, it would be greatly appreciated.
What other causes of wrist pain are there? In 2006, when I got out of the Navy, my doc told me that my wrist pain was not carpal tunnel that it was just strain on the joints or some such thing. 5 years later, I still have chronic pain in my right wrist, sometimes the elbow and weakness in the fingers. Also, I can be walking through the store or down the street and my hand will balloon up and get really swollen out of nowhere. My husband thinks my doc just didn't want to do paperwork for the VA and he makes me wear one of those hand-wraps that are really uncomfortable and it doesn't help at all. Any other ideas about what could be causing this? Also, I guess last night I woke-up screaming at my husband that I broke my wrist. Obviously, I didn't but I did wake-up this morning with a persistent, sharp pain in the top-center of my wrist. Any advice would be helpful. It takes a few weeks to get an appointment (Army primary care, gotta love it) so if you have any self-medicating advice it would be much appreciated.
What could cause pain in my wrist when running in the cold? Something odd happened while I was running in the cold weather. I ran a 16 miler the other night, overall I was warm. While I was running, about 90 minutes in, I started to get an intense sharp pain, sort of like tendinitis, in my wrist. It didn't feel like a cramp. I'm very active and I have never had problems with my wrists before. I was not carrying anything either. After I got home, the pain went away. So it's cold related. I'm just curious, ever happen to anyone else?
My whole wrist hurts! Causes? A little bit about me: I am 16, female, 5'7 and 148 lbs. I have been on a diet for about 3 months, trying to lose my belly and thigh fat. I play tennis, dance ballet, jazz, and pointe, and go to the gym on weekends. I do pageants, so I travel a lot (usually by car) to those. I am a varsity debater on my nationally-ranked high school's elite speech and debate squad. I read lot, and spend probably 2-3 hours/day on the computer. I keep my computer on my bed, and lay on my bed on my stomach to go on the computer. I am also an honors student, in AP government, and advanced/honors Lit classes. Yesterday morning, I noticed the pain as I was driving myself and my brother to school. It was below my palms, and hurt really bad when I would grip the steering wheel. I shrugged it off until I was in Biomed, where we had a test and then two labs. I kept getting writing cramps, and I noticed the pain had spread to below my thumb. I concentrated on my classes, and decided not to pay anymore attention to it. After that, I had debate, and during SSR, we tidied up the room. I was holding an extemp. box in my right hand (where the pain is) and I dropped it. I didn't mean to drop the box; it just happened. I had a hard time gripping things, and had to go left-handed the rest of the day. When I got home, I went on the computer to research for my Gov. test on Monday, when I noticed the pain had spread to include my whole wrist. I wrapped it in an ACE bandage, but I need to take it off whenever I am around my mom. She thinks that since I'm 16, I can't have any more health problems. (I have had gallbladder surgery this year, I have dozens of food allergies-some anaphylactic, some not- and I've had wrist surgery on my other wrist a few years ago. I am immunocompromised due to some of the treatments I have undergone for my stomach condition. I've also had a squamas-cell carncinoma removed this past summer.) She doesn't believe me, and she tells me that I'm faking when I tell her my wrist hurts. She doesn't understand that my wrist hurts A LOT. So, what can cause pain like this, and how can I convince my mother that I need help for it?
Wrist/forearm disorder that causes pain while running when wearing gloves? Diagnose this? I have done a little research and have had no such luck of finding anything that explains the pain, discomfort, and sensitivity that I experience when i wear gloves or wrist wraps during physical cardio activity, mainly when running or bouncing up and down movements. I first noticed the pain during football as a child, when i got padded gloves. I tried running out onto the field and instantly had to stop and take them off. from the bottom of my wrist all the way up my forearm feels like the nerves clench and no matter how hard i try, i cant push through it. If anyone has ever heard of this, or know if there is a treatment, please reply. thank you

Can cracking my wrist cause pain? I've been cracking my knuckles for about 5 years, and I now crack just about everything, but I just started cracking my wrists a few months ago. My right wrist has been hurting really badly all day today and I can't crack it, do you think the cracking is causing the pain? Or is that not possible? I can't think of anything that I've done that could have hurt it in any way..
What is causing wrist pain and how to alivate it? Ok I slept on my arm at 5pm today, I understand it ached from that but it went away around 9pm. But at 3 am I woke up to excruciating pain in my wrist, I have slept on my back this time to be sure I don't sleep on my arm, it's now 5 am and the pain is unbearable. And the pain is now not only in my wrist but shooting up my whole arm. What is this another dose of after effects from earlier? Or something totally different?
