What causes ankle pain after 20 minutes of running? Ive been running every day for 15 minutes and over the past month I have been gradually increasing my length of running time. I run 5mph. A few days ago I ran 30 minutes and I felt that I could have ran forever if it hadn't been for my ankles! Once I hit around 18 minutes my inner ankles KILL!!! Its terrible. Should I ice it or heat it? It doesnt hurt a bit all day but once Im running for a while the pain slowly creeps in... Have you ever experienced this? Thanks so much! By the way Im running on a Tred Mill on a level 3 incline... Not sure if that matters...
ankle popping/pain causes and treatment? for the past few weeks i have been experiencinga grinding/popping in my left ankle that causes alot of pain. it happens when i bend my foot up or down, but only happens once in a blue moon. when it pops, the pain and popping lasts for a while, and it seems like i have to bend it back to get it to pop back into place for the pain to stop. sometimes it happens when i am not doing anything at all but sitting and moving my foot. i know it is not bone but maybe a tendon? the pain is on the outside of my ankle towards my heel. any ideas of what this is.. what to do about it.. and if i should see a doc? i do not have insurance so i only want to go to the doc if i have to. Thanks!
What causes ankle and foot pain? these couple of weeks --when I finish watching a movie, or finish my lunch or dinner, my ankle and foot pains when I start to walk , the pain will be gone after a few painful steps anybody knows what is it and any prevention or remedy?
sprint causes temporary ankle pain? First of all, I'm not a runner. However, when I want to sprint or run after something , after a few strides I feel a terrible pain in my ankle. It feels as if the ankle joint is going to separate. I know that's not what is happening cause as soon as I stop, the pain goes away. Why does this happen and is there any exercises to stop this ? Thanks.
broken ankle, causing pain?!? last night my friend broke her ankle pretty bad. (shes staying at my house btw, her parents are out of town).. we could tell it was broken right away, we went to the er and she got it xrayed that confirmed a bad fracture and the dr put it in a splint until she can get it casted next week. shes still awake and cant sleep..shes on pain pills but other than that, how can i help make her comfortable because she seems to be in a lot of pain?
B-50 complex and ankle pain? I just started taking Vitamin B-50 complex for energy, anxiety and depression. I was advised by my pychologist to go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist which complex vitamin I should take and she recommended complex B-50. It works really well for my energy levels along with mild migraines that I suffer from my slight anxiety but at the same time I noticed it has been causing pain in my right ankle when I walk (feels stiff and almost sprained). I didn't take it today and the pain is gone. I really want to take these for the benefit of the energy and controlling my slight anxiety. Please don't recommend me taking AD's as I tried them and they made me overly tired and caused my cholesterol to sky rocket (sleeping all the time). I suspect it may be the B-6 that is causing the ankle pain but not sure. Just wondering if I should just take B-12 only or something else?

What causes this pain between my navicular and talus bones in my ankle? I have sprained my ankle mildly a couple of times but then I always felt the pain in the back of my achilles but now it hurts on the inside right under my ankle bone. What could be causing this and what is wrong with it? By the way, I play soccer and run track so these also might have been the cause
What is causing my ankle pain? When I wake up in the morning my right ankle really hurts. It hurts especially under the bone on the outside of my ankle and when I move my foot to the right. It is also painful to walk on it, but it loosens up after being on it for a while. This pain also occurs after sitting down or resting for a while. I didn't injure myself so I don't understand what's going on with this. Does this have anything to do with me being flat-footed/what I can do to make it better? Any suggestions?
if you have flat feet does it cause ankle pain? I have noticed that my daughter sometimes complains of having sore ankles. I was looking at her walk today and noticed she has slightly flat feet. Could this be the cause of her having sore ankles at times? When she has had a busy day with a lot of running she also complains of having sore knees and I wondered if it could be because of that too? I always just let her relax and put it down to over working the muscles. She is only young. I will go see my doctor about this because while her feet look flat I am not 100% sure they are :) but would a sore ankle be one of the symptoms? Thank you
What causes mild, persistent pain when rotating ankle and when weight applied during walking? Hoping someone can answer my question. It's not bad enough that I need to see a doctor but when I rotate my ankle, I have a slight pain. I can sort of feel the muscle or whatever it is stretching when i rotate. Also, after being on it and walking, it definitely feels strained. I don't recall hurting my ankle but I did do an usual amount of walking on a recent photo shoot.
My sprained ankle causes me unbearable pain when i sleep? i sprained my ankle in a cheerleading incident (stunt gone wrong) Motrin, Advil, Tylenol all don't seem to help me at all, and during the day, it hurts as it normally would, but at night it gives me a sharp searing pain all night. It prevents me from getting sleep, and it just really hurts and causes alot of discomfort. is there anything i can do to prevent or lessen the pain? thanks! i have been to several doctors to confirm that it's sprained i have an 'aircast' thing that i take off when i sleep and then wrap it in ace bandages.

Some time sthe shin pain goes all the way to my knee and it feels like its on the edges of the bone going underneath. The ankle pain is across the ankle. What is this??
What causes pain in my foot and ankles? I am a type 2 diabetic and for the last 6 years, on occasion, my feet/ankles will hurt so bad that they feel like they are broke, nearly impossible to walk. What could be the cause of this? Thank you.

Ankle surgery in cast, blood rush to foot causing pain, advice? My boyfriend had ankle surgery a little over a week ago and is now in a cast. He had a metal plate and 6 screws put in. He keeps his leg elevated above his heart when he sleeps, but elevated level with his waist when he sits. When he stands, the blood rushes to his feet causing them to swell and causes a lot of pain. Are there any tips that will help alleviate or reduce this? How long will this continue to happen? Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Old ankle injury causing severe pain.? Sorry its long ... Ok. I'm a 14 yr old girl. In the Summer of 2007 or 2008, can't remember which, I caught my left ankle in the spokes of my bike going down a hill. It was severly bruised and is quite scared to this day but it causes me severe pain after exercising and pe in school. I put deep heat on it and put a strap on it also. But the pain in my ankle causes a pain in my knee, which causes me to limp which then makes my left knee pop and grind off the 2 bones around it. I don't know what to do? I've told my mam and she said if it gets worse she'll bring me to a chiropractor but its still really sore :'( What should I do? Eimear.
exhale causes pain in ankles? ive had this pain in my joints, (mostly knees and ankles) since i was about 8, and over the summer i developed a tightning feeling in my ankles that happends when i sit down sometimes, and makes me want to walk all over the place. in november i had this pain in my ankles every time i take a deep breath and breath out. i have no idea what is wrong with me! none of these syptoms happen at the same time, but i still get all of them. im in my addolences and what to know ahts going on. help...
What could be causing this pain in my ankle? I have a job where I have to stand on my feet for a good bit of the night. Gradually my ankle will start hurting and the pain just progresses throughout the night. I wake up the next day and sometimes I literally have to crawl because it hurts so bad and it takes me awhile to finally be able to manage a limp. I've tried getting new shoes, insoles, everything, but the pain doesn't go away. I have flat feet, but it's never been this bad or bothered me this much before. Anyone got any ideas?
Twisted Ankle Pain? On the way home from work yesterday afternoon, I took a misstep on the stairs while wearing 1-inch heels and twisted my right ankle. I immediately felt pain, but it fortunately was not too bad at all, as I had one hand on the banister and my other leg caught my weight just in time. I continued walking to the train station, which was just a block and a half away, but tried to elevate it as soon as I got home (though thanks to a power outage, I had no ice). My ankle didn't really hurt unless I walked on it for a long time or tried to drive, and it didn't swell either (as far as I can tell). This morning, though, my ankle is much more sensitive--the area where I felt the initial pain is tender to the touch, walking around (in the same shoes) is more difficult, and rotating my ankle causes twinges of pain. Although I've mildly twisted my ankle a few times before, this is the first time that it has gotten worse on the second day. Is this normal? In any case, what should I do for my ankle? Also, I'm having trouble moving the pinky toe on my right foot--is this a normal symptom of an ankle sprain as well?
Acupuncturist cause pain in my ankle that i did not have before i went...help please!!!? It was my second time, i've been trying to relieve my lower back pain for some time now, and when i went, she stuck some needles in my back, and then two next to my ankle - afterwards i had acute "tingley" pain in my ankles when i bend them at a certain angle, and it tends to flare up when i walk. WHAT DO I DO!?!? this is so frusterating - i have the worst luck out of everyone i know - for once i'd like to be cured, not broken!
What is Causing Pain in Previously Fractured Ankle? I fractured a bone in my ankle during a jog back in June of 2008. It took a while to heal (probably 4 months or so before I could jog without considerable pain). I have just started working out and jogging seriously again. The last couple days I have had pretty intense pain multiple times in the area where I fractured my ankle. The pain comes and goes relatively quickly, but it hurts enough to worry me. Also, my ankle does NOT hurt when I jog or workout. Anyone know whats going on?
What's causing my ankle pain? I woke up yesterday with slight ankle pain. Today I woke up and it's much worse. Sharp Pain shooting up from the ankle about halfway up the side of the outside of my calf. It's making it difficult to walk. Hurts to move it around. No redness or swelling, didn't trip or twist it or anything. Maybe I slept on it funny? What's wrong with it? What can I do to help it? Thanks.
Pain above inside of right ankle? Should i get it checked out? So yesterday in our soccer game i got taken out from the left side on my right leg. Immeadiately i had some knee pain, because i have knee ligament problems and had problem with that leg the night before. I got back up and played for about 5 more minutes, until we had lightning. On the way the car i walked and all, and then in the car my ankle starting hurting, i pulled down my sock and saw i had some swelling and a cleat mark right above my on the left side of my right foot, and down the side of the foot. basically the bruising/swelling is around the ankle bone and also right above it. It does hurt to walk and i feel the pain every time i put pressure on the foot but its not like killer pain, just occasionally causes me to wince. Rotating the ankle also causes it to be sore. Anything touching it, even pants irritates the area. Should i be concerned? Or is it just a bad bruise?
Ankle soreness/pain after running? Today has been my fourth day running one mile. I just began running, but I'm 17yrs old, Female, 150lbs. I'm in decent physical shape, and one mile is the perfect distance for me at the moment. I can run it with difficulty, but the difficulty is not overwhelming. I noticed yesterday, that my ankles hurt when I walk. They are perfectly fine if I'm running, in my running shoes, but when I walk, not in my running shoes, my ankles feel as though the muscles in the front of the ankle are sore, or strained. The pain is chronic, but not overly painful, and goes away when my muscles are warmed up. My question: Is the pain caused by weak ankle muscles? If so, will running alone strengthen them sufficiently to eventually eliminate the soreness? Is the pain caused by my shoe? I have very high arches, and the shoes I purchased were the only ones in the store with enough support. I'm naturally pigeon toed. I cant return my shoes, and my mother will not buy me a new pair until these are completely worn out. they were expensive. Is the pain caused by injury? I do not recall any event that caused me pain throughout my running, but I suppose it's possible. What do you suggest? I'm not motivated enough to stop running to let my ankles heal. If I stop running, I'll probably never start again, and that's not something I want for myself. I don't have enough money to buy new shoes, so if a shoe insert would do the trick, that would be much preferable than having to buy another pair of $100 shoes. I'm healthy, I heal fast, I've gone to the gym to lift weights and use the elliptical 4x a week for 2hrs for more than a year now... What do you think is wrong with my ankles, and what should I do about it?
What could be the cause of my ankle pain? I have had pain in my ankles for the last few days, and it's worse when I stand up after sitting for several minutes. My ankles seem to be slightly swollen, and are tender to the touch. A few days ago, I started running in place on carpet for exercise. I did that for 10-20 minutes every day for 3 or 4 days. At first I didn't have pain in my ankles, then I had just a little bit of soreness, but I figured that was normal. Now my ankles hurt almost all the time, and sometimes when I get up from sitting or laying down, both my knees and ankles feel weak, almost like they're going to give out. What could be the cause of this? Do you think it is the running in place that I did that could have caused the pain?
Shin and ankle pain.? I had a baby 5months ago and the last 3 months of pregnancy up until now ive had pain in my shins and ankles but its worse now. I was wearing the wrong shoes for a long time where my ankle wasnt supported so it rolled around alot in my shoe. Could this cause ankle and shin pain?? What is the cause of my ankle pain? My Ankle has been killing me for the last 24 hours or so but I haven't sprained it or twisted it in anyway. I haven't over walked or done anything physically demanding. Someone told me it could be something called gout? any ideas? On the pain level it would be a 7 or 8 when i try and walk.
Frequent running is causing severe ankle pain? I run pretty often. I try to run anywhere from 5 to 7 days out of the week. I run at least a mile & a half, no more than three and half. Anyway, yesterday I started running after two days off, and about half a mile or a mile into it, the sides of my ankles were KILLING me. So, I walked a little bit. It eased the pain a little bit, but it didn't go away. I just finished the lap then left. When I got home I had to sit down. The sides of my ankles were ROCK hard. Not the bone, the tendon/muscle. & it was on the outside. Both of them. It was kinda going up my leg a little bit. It wasn't on the back of my ankle tho. I went for another run today, but it couldn't be ten minutes into the run(I wanted to run a full hour) the pain started again. It's still hard. I've been taking some advil/anti inflammatory since the pain started. When I'm not running, the pain isn't there. It also hurts when I try to stretch it out. I stretch before every run, very well. & sometimes, I'll even run a little, then stretch some more. It's concerning me, a lot kinda. I Love to run, & I hate when something is wrong. I'm just not sure if it's serious, or if it could be simple like me overworking my muscles. & it's also that time of the month, if that makes a difference. Any advice/opinons would be greatly appreciated :)
Partially torn ligaments in ankle, pain in the back of the foot above the heel? I severely sprained my ankle about 4+ weeks ago and the diagnosis was that i had partially torn 2 ligaments. I was prescribed a walking boot which i wore for about a week. My foot is still painful but i can walk and even run I do however still feel pain in the back of my foot above the heel. There's pain when i extend the foot full length and when i rescind it back. There is also pain in the area where i tore the ligaments (the outside of my right ankle) when i try to stretch that area. Doctor told me my achilles tendon was in place and there were no fractures, i had x-rays done. What could be causing pain in the back of my heel? Could it be a stress fracture in the heel?
What are the long term effects of a ankle sprain? I had sprained my ankle years ago and have developed a lump at the top of my ankle which is now causing pain. I have spoke to a surgeon and they had said that they will drain this lump. He had given me a medical term for the lump but cannot remember the name. Anyone know the name of this condition or were to find information about it?
Why does my 7yr old have such ankle pain at times? For a couple of years now my daughter has had pain in her right ankle-out of the blue and it is bad enough that she will just cry and cry. I have taken her to the Dr. for this and all he mentioned was growing pains-but this often and always the same ankle, for 2 years! I don't remember her ever hurting that ankle? What can cause sudden pain like that in a young child? She is not heavy at all-she is your average 7yr old. Weighs around 50lbs. It usually doesn't start hurting when she runs or is being overly active, but is most common when she goes to bed at night. It doesn't swell at all.
Any help with the cause of several ankle and lower leg pain caused by walking. ? When i walk i feel fine for a while then all the sudden i get this several pain in my ankles and half way between my ankle and knees. Its worse on the left leg but hurts on both. Its numb, tingly and burning and my legs feel heavy. The pain quickly spreads to my feet and the rest of my lower legs. It gets so bad i can't even walk but when i rest it gets a better and it hardly hurts. Oh and i'm on aspirin and A535 and it doesn't help.
I have minor ankle pain. What caused it? I woke up with minor ankle pain. When I'm not doing anything I don't feel it. When I start walking it doesn't hurt until after a couple of steps. It's not very painful but it's pretty annoying. Does anyone know what could have caused it and how I should treat it? My body mass index is perfect. I used to be underweight but I'm fine now. I checked some of the symptoms of arthritis and it fits except for the fact that the pain is getting better even though I didn't change my lifestyle in any way. Also, is arthritis common for a twenty year old?
Can't sleep cause of ankle sprain pain? I can't get good sleep because i recentl sprained my ankle. I keep getting up every 1.5 hours or so then have to wait until the ankle pain goes away. I've tried tylenol pm and tried elevating my mattress but nothing seems to work. Please help as I would love to get sleep again. PS: It's been about 9 days since i've sprained my ankle.
How to prevent and treat ankle joint pain at home? I know that I should be on glucosamine for my joints(mainly my shoulders) and I think it may have the same cause as the pain in my ankles. Sometimes when I walk a lot, run, or hike I get a dull pain in my left ankle, right below the end of the fibula(the bump on the outside of your ankle). Often times, it comes with a grinding feeling in the area. Basically I know what it most likely is, and cannot afford professional treatment or even glucosamine tablets at the moment.(Anything less than $30-40 for a 1-month supply doesnt really work) What I want to know is what I can do at home with a small budget to treat or prevent this? (Was thinking ankle brace and/or arch support pads in shoes, but want other options, and opinions on these)
Cause of knee and ankle pain due to cold feet? I will get terrible knee pain and ankle pain when my feet are get cold. I will have to wear socks and eventually it will go away or I will have to take motrin. I think its associated with my feet being cold but I tried looking online to see if they are related but I haven't found anything. The pain is just an aching feeling. Any ideas?
What is causing pain 4 months after ankle sprain...? Okay, I had a pretty nasty ankle sprain in September that left me with a blood clot in my lower leg. The other night I was "Spring Cleaning" my house (even though its the middle of winter!) and I noticed that my ankle swelled up and hurt a little. Here it is 4 days later and my lower leg feels extremely tight, slightly swollen, and Extremely painful to bear weight on. Every time I put weight on it, I want to scream. I have tried Ibuprofen, propping it up, and icing it. Nothing seems to be working. Why would this be hurting, this long after my injury and should I go to the doctor or urgent care today?

What causes foot pain in the heal when bending down or pulling the toes back? I have a pain in the back of my heal when I stetch out my Achilles tendon, however the pain is not the achilles. It generates from the right side of my left foot approximately halfwayy between the ankle bone and the bottom of the foot slighty off centered from the achilles. It usually hurts when I bend my foot. The pain is a sharp sting that feels like something is tearing. The pain doesn't last long when it occurs. It feels like whatever is generating the pain is not deep inside the foot.
What is causing my ankle pain? Knee pain? Hip pain? My whole left leg hurts. My ankle hurts when I walk. It feels really stiff and it kills when I rotate my foot outward. I had no specific injury to it. It just hurts sometimes. Usually when I wake up or have been sitting for a while. It doesn't seem to be swollen and no bruising. My knee hurts sometimes but not too bad. My thigh has been killing me lately. I will occasionally get a sharp pain right above my knee and my thigh feels week. I usually have to wrap it, just so it won't give out. Also, my hip has been hurting. It just doesn't feel rights. These are all on my left leg. I'm a bowler and therefor, my left leg is my sliding leg and has to support all of my weight. Also, I'm 18 years old.
Boot caused lump and pain on back of ankle? I bought new Timberland boots a couple of years ago and to begin with they were quite stiff. They relaxed after a few wears but the left one was pressing on the back of my ankle and after wearing them for a bit was quite painful. I now have a sensitive area and slight lump on the back of my ankle (tendon?) which is there and causes pain even with no shoes/boots on. I haven't worn the boots for at least 8 months. It is especially stiff in the mornings or if i have been sitting for a while. It doesn't stop me doing anything but it is fairly painful and annoying. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks
Sharp Ankle Pain that is come and go? I have this sharp pain on the inside part of my left foot. It feels like a needle goes through and out quickly. The pain will come after activeness then goes away then comes back once I am active. It isn't swelling or bruising. When the pain is apparent I limp. I tried to put a brace on my anke which helps minimally. The pain is bellow my ankle and causes much pain. Can someone give me some what of a diagnosis?
should i go see a doctor? and what is causing my ankle pain? i walk pigeon toed. and for many ears i have had ankle pain in a spot right underneath my ankle. it hurts to walk and to move my foot in some directions. for the pain not to hurt while walking i have to walk very pigeon toed and walk on the outside of my foot. should i go and see my doctor and what could be causing this pain?
What could be causing this ankle pain? Every now and then (and not even every day) I will step and suddenly recieve a sharp, stabbing, very painful feeling in my right ankle. The main pain lasts a couple seconds and then it completely goes away within a few minutes. I have not seen a doctor because like a said it is not all the time and does not even happen every day. The only time I could think of possibly hurting it is maybe while doing Aikido (a martial art), however, I cant think of any injuries. Any idea what this is and how to make it heal?
What is causing knee and ankle pain? For several months I wore flip flops and had no pain, but for the last 2 months I have been in shoes. I'm on my feet all day and started back at work 3 months ago. I was ok until I had the vomiting virus and then my knees and ankles started throbbing and aching. Could it be related to the virus as I was ill again for a couple of weeks? Sorry mono, I meant to give you a thumbs up. What should I do to realign my back?
Can Plantar's Fasciitis cause ankle pain? I've had plantar's fasciitis for about a year now in both feet, on and off. It's been good lately, but I came home from a basketball game today and realized that it hurt to walk on my left foot, more in the ankle area. Not putting pressure on it, but moving it when I walk. Does anybody know if it can cause ankle problems too? And please don't answer if you have no intention of helping me. I had to repost this because someone talked about a good computer deal or something... anyways.. thank youu =)
Would a high arches contribute to ankle, knee and hip problems for a runner? I have high arches on both of my feet. However, when I run I only experience pain in my right ankle and occasionally in my knee and hip. Lately, it has only been the ankle. I do notice when I run, my right foot tends to land on the inside of my foot instead of square on the heel. (I run about 20-30 miles per week) Why would only my right foot does this if I have high arches on both my feet? Do you think there might be something else causing this ankle pain?
What could be causing my foot/ankle pain? Lately I have had a lot of pain where my foot and ankle connect. When i move turn my ankle, like rolling it to loosen it up, sometimes it feels like it is pooping or cracking. Also the pain is one my left food and left side of ankle. It does not hurt to walk or run just after I run and then for the few days after, but it has been lasting longer each time. Any thoughts?
what is the cause of my ankle pain? my ankle has been giving me a lot of problems lately. no recent trauma to it, but it swells after standing on it for a few hours and when i step on it, i feel sharp pain going from my heel upwards. tonight while soaking, i decided to massage and stretch it again and it was very, very tender above the bumpy bone. I do have arthritis, but this feels different than arthritis, and it's only in one ankle. I don't have health insurance anymore, so i can't see a doctor until i have a bit more money in a month.
What could this foot/ankle pain be? I think i did it playing football though i don't recall doing anything to it. Basically in my ankle both sides & on the top part which connects to the bottom of the shin is giving me pain beyond belief, but not constant. 1 minute i can be walking along fine, i've even been able to run on it, but then other times out of no where i literally can't put any pressure on it. If i wriggle my foot around abit it causes pain & i can feel a slight click which i don't recall being there before at the top of my foot/ankle, though there is also a click on the back of my ankle also though there is no pain there what so ever. Does anybody have any idea what this could be, as i'm baffled by the fact it can bring me to tears 1 minute but be fine to run on the next. Pain is there more so than not.
Does anyone else experience a 'heavy foot' that causes them pain in their ankle and leg? By this I do not mean having a need for speed or for those that get speeding tickets. Is there such a medical condition for those that find it difficult to lift their foot in such a way as to maintain speed limits. When I was in driver's ed I soon learned that even if I passed the written and driving exams - I still wouldn't be able to drive because of this problem. I find it too painful to hold my foot up so high. I guess maybe what I should do is do 'strength exercises' and such to work on getting that muscle and flexibility...I do have arthritis maybe that's a part of the problem...The pain I experience is in my ankle and leg.
Can anyone tell me why I have ankle pain? Usually when I first start running I get a sudden sharp pain in my right ankle that causes me to trip or have to slow down and maybe stop. However, after about a minute or two of continuing to run it goes away. I have never injured it before so does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it? Would stretching it help?
Severe Ankle Throbbing Pain? So I've been playing lacrosse for three months now. And its been super fun and unlike anything i've tried before but now my ankles are in pain. Like severe pain. Before lacrosse i was in cheer and I never experianced pain in my ankles like this. The pain area is right when the leg bone ends to the end of my heel. I have never broken or sprained anything in my foot. I have an anklet on my right ankle (which is where the pain is) and i've had it on since 6th grade. (im in 8th now) its made out of yarn and wraps around the ankle twice. Most of the time it does tighten around it, making imprints around my ankle. I read somewhere that anklets can cause ankle pain. But I dont think thats true. So i'll be in lacrosse practice or during a game and i'll be running for awhile but right when I stop, My ankle begins to throb painfully. One time, I actually collapsed because of ankle failure to support me. im female. im about 5'4 i weigh about 112 Please help, its hurts so much that I cry sometimes. Edit: It hurts right on top of that ankle bone that kinda sticks out. You know, the one with the darkish spot on it? The one thats really dry most of the time? I should also mention that i've had this pain for about 3 weeks. It hurts when I stand, when im sitting, when I run. It hurts when I do absoloutley nothing. I cant stretch out my toes or bend my foot side to side. The only reason why im still up (its 5:13 where I live) is because the pain has gotten so bad that I cant sleep. It doesnt feel like a growing pain, I know what they feel like. Besides I only get it in my right ankle ALL the time and in my left ankle when I run or walk
Ankle pain for 6 weeks and don't know what to do? Some 6 weeks ago I began suffering from a stiff and painful ankle which is worst if I'm weight-bearing on it for any long period of time or if I try and turn my foot to the right-hand side. The pain is short, stabbing and seems to be coming from the right-hand side ankle 'bump' on my foot. Now I took painkillers and began using an anti-inflammatory gel on it, as well as trying not to do anything to aggravate it, but nothing seems to do anything. I've been to see a doctor once already but they seem unable to actually find anything wrong with the ankle that could be causing the pain. I've not (to my knowledge) injured the ankle to cause the pain for so long and it's not an old injury either. Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do? I've asked the doctor whether it might be worth doing an X-ray but he doesn't seem to think that it's serious enough to warrant doing so.
What could be a cause of Ankle pains? I was outside playing (not running, just walking and moving around a lot). In the middle of that, my ankle started to hurt very badly, like a sharp stabbing pain inside my ankle. I figured it would stop soon, but it's been an hour almost 2. It's not broken, because It isn't THAT bad of a pain. It hurts when I walk, and even when i'm not walking. What do you think it is? What should I do?
can Patella tracking disorder cause inner ankle pain? I went to my doctor a while back and she sent me to the physical therapist without any xrays or anything, my physical therapist said that I have patella tracking disorder in both knees, but the one that is causing pain is stronger than the one that isn't. Well anyway I have noticed increasing pain in my inner ankle and a medium sized bump, also on the top of my foot there is three smaller bumps. I am in a lot of pain in my right leg. Also my left knee which is the one that is weaker is starting to cause me pain. today i went to school with an ace bandaged on my ankle and a brace on my knee.... I did not have a good day today :( Can my knee problems be causing my ankle problems?
Ankle pain while running? 6 days ago, I ran my first 5 mile run ever. Then the next day, I ran 4 miles. My body is not used to these run distances and the routes that I run on are very hilly, so my lower legs weren't feeling so great after that. I developed a pain in my left calf only, on the right side of the calf and towards the front of the calf, which I assumed to be shin splints. I decided to blow it off and ran the next day anyway, and the pain became magnified. After that happened, I decided to take 3 days off from running. Upon resuming running (today), the pain was minimal and not a problem until about 20 minutes in, when it came back in full force. I was now experiencing pain not only in my calves or shins, but on my left ankle bone, and the very front of my ankle, basically where the foot connects to the leg. If I give the affected area a very light punch, I feel a searing pain for a second or two. It feels sensitive, almost like it is bruised, however there is no visible bruising. If I do this on my right ankle/leg, I feel no pain at all. Does anyone have any idea what the specific cause of this pain could be and why it is only in my left leg/ankle but my right leg/ankle is perfectly fine. Also, how do I prevent this from reoccuring and how should I best react to it in order to minimize it? Thanks for any advice
ankle pain caused from flat feet? My left foot has no arch whatsoever, it over pronates pretty bad. I notice though that I'm starting to get ankle pain on the outside of my left ankle. I'm thinking it has to be a result from my flat feet? I'm definitely gonna go to a podiatrist though, so no worries. It's mainly when I first wake up and when i stand in the shower I notice the most pain.
My ankle brace causes severe foot pain? So I've sprained both ankles pretty bad. I played soccer all my life, and now I'm doing rugby. My ankle braces cause sever foot pain on the bottom of my foot, but if I loosen them, I can easily roll my ankle, and I have to play with them. Is there any way to adjust this with med tape or something to take off that pressure and alleviate the pain??
Foot/Ankle pain with no injury? I'm a sixteen year old volleyball player, and within the last couple of months, have experienced horrible pain in my let foot/ankle/lower leg. I wake up in the morning and have to walk flat footed (left foot only) because if I flex and extend my foot like normal, it causes pain on the top, later aspect of my foot (more towards the ankle) that shoots up the side of my calve. The pain, throughout the day (just walking) is there, but its dull. When I go to a game or practice and start rigorous activity, the pain multiplies and spreads. It spreads to the the top of my foot, still shooting up the side, and seems to stretch around to the sides of my achilles tendon (lower, ankle). The pain gets so bad I limp around. I went to a doctor and we discovered that my left ankle pronates. It is only slight, and I still have a high arch. I have been wearing them for a couple weeks now, and notice little difference while walking in them. As soon as I take them off pain continues. I have no idea if the pronation is a cause of the pain, or if I have inflammation of something in there. The doctor diagnosed it as a "stress reaction" but Im not so sure. The pain is excruciating and I just want answers! X ray came up clean. Do I need an MRI? Varsity season has been going all summer.. I also play club in the off season. I love volleyball, which is why I never stop. I had a doctors note to stay off of my foot for the last week, to see if it calms down. It hasnt. I don't want to lose my spot in the starting lineup.. I need answers!! HELP :( PS- I have never had an accidental injury, or any injury, of my foot. Except for this one.. and I don't know where it came from! So sorry, just realized I accidentally edited out the sentence about my orthotics. After I saw a doctor he prescribes me to custom orthotics. That's what I was talking about when I said I have been wearing THEM...
What might be causing my ankle pain in my? I just started playing ice hockey about a month ago. When I skate I'm feeling a lot of pain on the side of my ankle. It hurts directly behind the ankle bone, where it is sort of soft (not the back of the ankle where the tendon is.) Somebody told me it might my Achilles tendon, but I thought that was more the back of the leg and ankle, not the side. It especially hurts from a lot of backwards skating, hard cuts or stopping. It doesn't hurt much after I stop skating then rest and ice it. I don't think resting alone will help. I played for a few month last season and it started to bother me, but now I haven't skated all summer and it started bother me during our first practice. It starts hurting after 5 minutes of skating. Somebody also suggested that I tape my ankle. Would that help? I've heard of KT-tape (kinesiology tape) and thought about giving that a try. Has anybody used KT tape? What do you think of it? Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. I'm sure it's not serious now, but I want to avoid it becoming an issue.

Cause of ankle pain during cold weather? I'm 13 and during cold or windy weather my ankle or knees start to hurt. The area is not swollen and I can move them just fine. It usually occurs during the evening and night. I've tried wearing really warm clothes and fuzzy socks but it rarely helps. Does anyone know the cause of this?
Can knee pain cause ankle pain? PLEASE HELP!? Here's the situation. I have patellofemoral pain syndrome, so my knee caps are out of their groove. So I was wondering if this could go all the way down to my ankles to because they hurt and have the same kind of pain.
Playing tennis approx 3 weeks ago i suddenly had a pain in my ankle.? It was on the inner area around the bone on my right ankle. That day i could barely stand on it. I now feel it most of the time when i am playing tennis especially when i move forwards to go for the ball. I am ok when i am generally walking around but it causes pain every now and then. Is this ok or worth a look?
Why has my ankle & leg in pain? All day today my ankle & leg have been in alot of pain, sharp pain as if someone was stabbing me to the bone and it hurt to walk & this was mainly in the morning, & after school. I haven't done anything to cause pain to my ankle & leg. I'm fairly active: I excercise 4-5 days of the week I walk for 45 minutes to an hour almost everyday so I don't see why I'm in pain. I do 100-150 pull ups a day 50 push ups 300-450 sit ups so I'm fairly active.
How can chronic inversion ankle sprains keep causing pain on the inside? I've been spraining my ankle pretty frequently since I was a child and they are always inversion sprains. Last year I injured it severely coming down the stairs landing completely on the side of my foot. It hardly swelled up (which is typical of my ankle sprains) and while most of the swelling was on the outside (as to be expected) 90% of the pain was around the inside ankle bone. I just sprained it again yesterday like I always do rolling it on the outside and again the pain is on the inside. My doctors have been baffled by this and thought I broke it but the x-rays were clear. This time there is a lot more pain in the middle of the joint but still relatively no pain on the outside. I don't have insurance right now so I'm hesitant to continue seeking medical attention but since the ER doctors always seem so confused about why it hurts on the inside and not the outside I don't know if this is something I should have looked at more seriously. Is there a possibility of some kind of damage that normally causes this pain? Should I have it investigated more or is this something that just happens sometimes? If it makes a difference my friend was pointing out to me that part of the reason she thinks I always sprain my ankle is that my feet are sort of pointed outward maybe at about a 35 degree angle. Maybe this is causing some kind of abnormality that would explain the pain location? Thanks!
