How can I stop inner ankle pain caused by/during running? I am new to running and am experiencing inner ankle pain while I am running. The pain is in both ankles. What is the problem and how do I correct it?
Inner Ankle Pain, What is Wrong with my Ankle? I twisted my ankle about 7 months ago, maybe even longer and I still have pain in the inner part of my ankle. I went to my doctor, he took X-Rays and the I got an MRI and all were negative. I also did physical therapy and that was good but the pain came back. I still feel pain in the inner part of my ankle, especially when I try to cut or move side to side. Has anyone felt this before? If so, what did you do to heal? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
WHY DO I HAVE PAIN INNER ANKLE BONE WITH SWELLING? for several weeks i have swelling inner ankle very painful on ankle bone. no injuries.
Inner ankle pain after running? Lately during track practices after we do ANY kind of run, there's this really sharp pain in my inner ankles... it hurts really bad right afterwards and later it's kind of an ache, but still hurts when I take a step. Our first meet's next Saturday. Does anyone know what causes this and how to help the pain go away?
Inner ankle pain??? I just started working out and one day I got this sharp pain that came from my inner ankle up through my legs. It happened a week ago and I just started noticing that I can't walk on it really well. If someone knows what this is or if it is serious enough to go to the doctor I would appreciate any response.
Inner ankle pain only while working out... What is it? So I'm a very active person and work out a lot. I've done P90X and everything. Recently I began the Insanity workout program and got 3 weeks into it perfectly fine until my inner ankle began hurting out of no where! I didn't sprain my ankle or anything. My form is good when I work out. I used to be a personal trainer, so I know when my form is off. The pain started small and slowly began to worsen... But it's only when I workout that the pain comes back! I don't feel any pain when I walk at all. I've noticed that my ankle hurts when I jump, or do high knees, or butt kicks. Anyone else have this or ever experienced this in their life? Did it go away? Is there anything I can do to help it go away? BTW: Since I began feeling this pain (about 5 days ago) I have stopped all lower body workouts. I only work my upper body. So I have been taking care of it. :)
Inner ankle pain when jumping? I play year around volleyball and just a few days ago I was jump roping and both the insides of my ankles started hurting. I ignored it until yesterday when it hurt too much to jump on them. It feels like a shooting pain in a tendon on the inside of both my ankles. Should I limit my jumping or is there something I can do to make them better? Thanks!
Does anyone get inner ankle pain (or any pain) when they run? I'm getting ready for BMT, and I've noticed that after running, I sometimes feel some pain in my inner ankle. I also noticed that it hurts (more bothersome than "I'm gonna die" pain) in the mornings when I first wake-up and them sort of dulls throughout the day. Some days I can run without any pain, and other I can't. My friends says I "bounce" when I run, but to me, there is not other way to run (I look at people and they all seem to "jump/bounce" when they run). Anyone have this problem. Are there special insoles for this or particular running shoes. I've heard the Brooks Ariel is good (I have flat feet), and insight on what this could be? Thanks!
Sore inner ankle pain from running? help!? Okay maybe somebody can explain this. Im 15 5"8 112 pounds one of those people who can eat whatever and stay skinny, but regardless I started conditioning for track, i have never really ran before but i wanted to do a sport so i gave it a go. Me and a friend ran 4 days for a pretty long distance for us, it was more of a run/walk/jog but every time was for 3 or 4 miles. The next days i was sore, which was expected but then i had this weird pain on my inner ankles both of them in the same spot, i figured it would go away I stopped running and decided to give it a rest everyday it would get worse, I haven't ran in almost 1wk and half and my ankles have gotten to the point of being swollen and so sore it is getting unbearable to walk. I have rested, iced, ace bandages everything nothing is working, i even went to the doctor and they didn't say anything helpful just give it time. Can someone please help!?

Inner Ankle-area Pain? (Orthopedic doctor, other doctor, runners, or other athletes in general)? I was running about 6 weeks back and i twisted my ankle in a hole in the grass. I stopped running for about 4 weeks and i had no pain when i started running again about 2 weeks ago. Last week, however, I ran about 30 hill repeats on blacktop (i changed up my running form as well) and the next day my inner ankle and inner lower leg near the ankle had like a persistent ache. I've iced it for an hour or so per day since then but i continued to run until the pain became intermediate (which was the 2nd day i ran again). I'm not really sure if the pain is ligament/tendon pain in that general area, if i sprained/strained something there, if it is a stress fracture from running on the asphalt a lot, or if it is just a growing pain because i'm still having growth spurts every so often.
When I go running I get pain in my inner knee and inner ankle, Is this tendonitis? Can it be corrected with proper shoes, do I need to change my running style. How do I treat this condition? I think my feet roll inwards.
inner knee pain -- ankle/running related? I'm recovering from ~8 weeks out with strained/torn ankle ligaments on the outside of my foot. I began fitness back 1.5-2 weeks back, and am a soccer player. I have noticed on the inner part of my right knee (the same leg w/ the ligament issue) and even sometimes on my left knee, that there is this sort of pain. However, it's not really "pain" though per se, rather an uncomfortable niggle that I'm pretty worried about. Is it ankle related? Getting back in shape after lack of running causing this? Is it strained? I guess I'm worried that it's my MCL, ACL, etc. or even meniscus. I'm dying to get back to playing, and this is KILLING me to have to deal with it. Very mentally draining. B/C of the left factor, I'm just wondering. I can extend and walk fine, just sometimes when I step/push up I can feel it. Thoughts/expertise/help? Thanks so much!
I have a stabbing pain in my inner side of my ankle? It very excruciating stabbing pain that makes me have stop and say "owwwwwww" it happens more often when I am sitting down then when im actually moving. could this be caused because my ankle is out of place. the chiro started to look at it but doesn't know what it is. Does anyone know what it could be?
pain and swelling in inner ankle? a little less than a month ago i was kicked really hard in my inner ankle playing soccer. afterwards it was swollen and hurt. it still hurts and is still a little swollen but i also noticed after it happened i could move something around in my ankle. any ideas on what this is and what i should do? thanks!
Can someone help me figure out why I have pain in my ankle? I am 23 years old and my job entails being on my feet and moving 12 hours a day, 3 days a week. I spent 17 years of my life as a gymnast and 4 years as a ballet dancer. I have flat feet, but do not wear shoe inserts as I have done extensive physical therapy and my doctors have told me I have trained my muscles to walk normally without orthotics. Within the past couple weeks, I have started to notice pain in my left inner ankle. The pain centers around the medial malleous, but the pain feels more muscular. The more I walk, the more the pain spreads partially up my tibia staying medial. The pain is greater when I let myself walk flat footed (and thus my foot everts). When it is not weight bearing, the pain is greater when I invert my foot (thus engaging that muscle). The pain isn't great - I take 400mg ibuprofin and go to work but the pain has been there for a few weeks and hasn't gone away. I have been taking the ibuprofin and icing and elevating after work, but I can't not walk around at my job. Any suggestions on what could be going on? I have had no injuries to the area. Thanks! 1. Why do users automatically assume I am fat because I am having an ankle problem? I am 5'3 and 117 lbs. 2. I don't need to see a doctor. I am a RN in my first year of medical school. Also, the insurance my school provides me with doesn't cover seeing a specialist, so I can't afford to see anyone at the moment. 3. I do have orthotics, but they cause me severe pain. I have been trying to break them in for 6 months and have been back to see the foot/ankle specialist for adjustments 9 times. That is when the tests were run and he determined I would be better off without the orthotic.
Upper leg pain and ankle pain/swelling following a softball the shin.? 8 days ago, I took a softball off of the medial side of my shin approximately 6inchs above the bend of my ankle. The shin swelled, but went down soon as I iced my leg directly after the game. Now, my inner ankle and above tendon on the front of my ankle are swollen and very sore. Also, on the same leg, my inner thigh hurts incredibly bad but I pulled the quad of that leg app. 5 weeks ago. It feels as though I have been hit, but I haven't. Also, it doesn't really feel like a pulled muscle so to speak...being an athlete, I am well aware of that type of pain. I didn't know if any of my problems could be related to one another, if I could simply be feeling pain from compensating for my other injuries, and when/if I should seek medical attention. Thanks!
ankle pain? when i run i have this severe pain in my ankle. i have been running around my neighborhood to train for the lacrosse season and each day the pain in my ankles gets worse. ive tried everything i can think of, i got new sneakers and checked which brand was the best with my numerous friends on the track team (they told me asics, so i got them) and ive tried streatching before i go for a jog. but nothing has helped and my ankle pain got so bad yesterday that i started crying. the pain isnt like "ive been running for a while and now my ankles are tired" its more like as soon as i speed up in walking or go up and down stairs i get this pain above the big bone on my inner ankle. its on both sides but sometimes one side feels worse the other. i dont think its sprained becuase its not swollen and its not red. it really only hurts when i run/walk up and down stairs/and squat at my locker (stupid bottom locker). i have to be able to run a 6:40 mile soon and i cant even finish one, please help
Experiencing ankle pain and worried about exercise and calories? Hi everyone. I have posted on here a lot lately, so I apologize for that, but something new has come up, and I am not sure what to do. To make a long story short, I have been recovering from anorexia for the past few months. I put on about 20 pounds since the beginning of May. I am 20, 5'4" and now weigh 98-100 pounds. I understand that is still considered underweight for my height, but I have never weighed much over 100 and am uncomfortable with doing so. I was gaining 2-3 pounds a week eating 2,500-2,700 calories a day for 5 or 6 weeks. I began maintenance two weeks ago and slowly began cutting my calories until I got to 1,800. With that, I was also running on a treadmill @ 5 mph on a 5% incline for 20-25 minutes, doing Pilates and ab exercises daily, and sometimes also taking a 20-30 minute walk. Everything was working well until I began experiencing pain in my inner left ankle a few days ago. I took a day off from running to give it some rest, but ran yesterday, as it was feeling better. Today, it is worse, so I decided not to run and am not going to run for the weekend to see if it will improve at all. I am really nervous that something is going to develop and make it so I can never run again. The pain isn't that bad right now, but I am just worried that it will worsen. I am also worried about my calories. Since I am not running or exercising, I figured that meant I must need to cut my calories, so I did 1,500 for today and figure I will have to continue with that until I can run again. Does that seem right? I am so worried about all of this. Thank you so much for listening and for all of the help.=)
I wake up the last few mornings, and my inner ankle feels bruised? I don;t know why it hurts, I have not had an injury, and there is no bruising or anything. It just hurts like a bruise when I touch it. I don't think it's anything serious.. but I'm just curious? the pain is on the inner side of my ankle and leg, right foot, and above my heel in that groove
Overdid the treadmill now major ankle pain? I really overdid it and forced myself to run for an hour at a high speed with bad shoes. I know I know I know. Since that day I had pain in both my ankles and it was a little hard to walk. One remained this way and once became increasingly more painful. It hurts at times even at rest. It's hard to get up and down stairs. It hurts on the back part of my inner ankle from the bottom of my foot to my lower shin. If I apply pressure to it it hurts a lot. I've tried ice and heat no relief. It almost seems to feel worse. It's been a week. What do I do? Is this a sprain? PS. I have no insurance.
Please help! I have a cramping pain on my inner foot and have to crack my ankle to make the pain go away! HELP? I have to make a circular motion with my foot to make my ankle/foot crack to relieve pain. Why is this? I fractured my ankle on October 3 and had a cast til December 2. The doctor said it was, at first, from stiffness and kinks in the ligaments. However, with the help of Physical Therapy, I still feel no relief. The pain comes back about 5 minutes later after I crack it. It is like a cycle. PLEASE HELP! I am going to the doctor in 2 weeks. Thanks...
What causes ankle pain after 20 minutes of running? Ive been running every day for 15 minutes and over the past month I have been gradually increasing my length of running time. I run 5mph. A few days ago I ran 30 minutes and I felt that I could have ran forever if it hadn't been for my ankles! Once I hit around 18 minutes my inner ankles KILL!!! Its terrible. Should I ice it or heat it? It doesnt hurt a bit all day but once Im running for a while the pain slowly creeps in... Have you ever experienced this? Thanks so much! By the way Im running on a Tred Mill on a level 3 incline... Not sure if that matters...
I sparained my ankle about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I went o the Emerrgency room due to terrible pain and swelling.? They took x-rays said i was just a mild sprain and sent me home. Five days later, I saw my doctor and she put mein an aircast and crutches for 2 weeks. I used the crutches and cast as directed. Nearing the end of the first week I could apply pressure on my heel and by the end of the secong, I could walk, slowly, on my foot. I have been without the crutches for 3 or 4 days now and wear the aircast most of the time still. I still have some swelling ans a big bruise on the outside of my ankle. The past two days, I have started getting a very, very sharp pain in mi inner ankle, actually feels like in the bone! It hurts whether it is wrapped or not and even with the aircast. Any clue about what this could be?
Ankle pain after running on treadmill - help please? I have pain in my ankles aroung the ankle bone, and slightly up my inner leg. I have been told to stop running for two weeks, but is there any form of excersise I can be doing to releive the aches and pains. NB I am on my feet all day at work !!!!
injured my inner ankle by a hockey ball? so my friend whacks the hockey ball super hard, im only like, 0.3 metres away from him and the hockey ball at full speed BANG! hits my inner ankle and i fall down to one knee feeling the tremendous pain on my inner ankle. now when i slowly rub my inner ankle it makes this sound, as if the legitments or bones or my ankle cap are clashing with each other, this doesnt happen to my other ankle. anybody know whether my ankle is screwed or not? when i walk ankle hurts but then as i gradually keep walking i think i get use to the pain and it doesnt hurt..
What could be the cause of the pain above my right heel? For about 6 months or so I've had pain in my right inner ankle and down into my heel. I don't remember any thing that could have caused an injury to it. The pain is everyday. Walking is bothersome because the pain is always there. I can also feel a stiffness and pain in the area when my leg is elevated and I rotate my foot. I haven't noticed any swelling to the area. What could be the cause of my pain and suffering.
why do I have swelling and sharp pain in the top of my foot and ankle with no injury? I have pain shooting from the inner part of my foot near my ankle and the top of my foot swells and I have not injured it.the pain is in the arch and feels like a sharp object is being pushed into my ankle.the ankle is not swollen but the top of the foot is and my lower leg is too. Can anyone tell me what this is?
Ankle pain after cardio? I've been doing cardio for the past couple of weeks and for a week now my left ankle has been in pain. It's not swollen and it is only on the inner part of the ankle. I generally do cardio dvds and do not wear any sneaker, just socks as I'm exercising in my livingroom. Anybody know what the problem is and how I can alleviate the pain?
Pain when flexing ankle? I went on the rowing machine at the gym on Monday night. I did it for 10mins, and when i would go back to the start position, my heel would raise out of the stirrup thing, and it goes back down when I pull the thing back. I only noticed the pain today, but Im thinking it may be from the rower. I notice the pain mainly when I am sitting and point my toes toward the ground. It hurts like a hand width up my leg from the inner ankle. I can walk on my leg its nothing major, im just wondering what it is?
why does my inner shin hurt and why does my right ankle have less movement than my left ankle? 1) my right inner shin has a kind of pain when i put a bit of pressure on it, like its very weak or could and fragile, but my left leg does not have this problem. I am right leg dominant. 2) when i try to flex my right ankle upward it is very stiff and has little movement. it has less mobility than my left ankle. how can i fix it or relieve it?
Ankle Pain for more than a month...? I can't recall the time when i first began to feel pain. I have pain both in the outer part of the ankle and in the inner-back part of my foot. At times my achilles also hurts, but not as frequent. I'm looking for some general diagnosis and remedies since I don't qualify for health insurance due to my age!
I'm thinking about getting my inner ankle tattooed? About an inch and a half or so under the ankle bone. It's a relatively small tattoo, and it's only a word, "soulstice" I have my septum pierced, so I was wondering how the pain could possibly compare to that? Would it hurt more, or less? I was able to handle the septum piercing quite well, considering it was a drawn-out process since I did it myself.
What causes a sharp pain on lower inner backside of right calf? A sharp fleeting pain around theinner side of lower calf just above the ankle of the right leg. It seems to come suddenly remains for few minutes then disappears. Its been coming regularly for some time now.
I have ankle pains from somebody fallong ontop of me in a basketball game. Should I see a doctor? A 115 pound girl's knee went into the inner side of my left ankle/ leg. It immideatley swelled, but by the time practice was over (approx. 7 minutes later) the swelling went down and all that was left was a bright red mark and a dull pain. I iced my ankle that night, and I could barely walk on it. The swelling never came back, and a faint purple mark was there for about a day. what should I do?
Pain in my inner calf when i exercise, what could it be? I have a pain in the inside leg of my calf, more so on the right leg when i exercise and sometimes when im walking. I play netball and go for a run every morning and the pain is slowly getting worse. It hasnt gotten to the point where i cannot run any more. I have flat feet which causes my ankles to roll in but i wear ankle braces when i play netball. Ideas on what it could be?
Chest tattoo pain vs ankle, wrist or forearm tattoos? I was wondering what the pain level is like for chest tattoos, I have my wrist, ankle and inner forearm tattooed and was wondering what the pain for a chest tattoo would be like compared to the ones I have. I have a pretty high pain tolerance btw. And I'm getting (almost) this design in the same spots: http://media.photobucket.com/image/sparrow%20chest%20tattoos/stout890/sparrow.jpg and I know tattoos are forever and you gotta think and blah blah, just don't bother putting any of that. Thanks :)
i run 5-6 days a week...6 miles each time on a treadmill. I did not twist my ankle suddenly but I have been e? experiencing pain in my upper inner ankle and the pain has been present for about a month now but again i have not discontinued running aside from about 2 weeks of eliptical as alternate form of exercise thanks...i'll consider it...it's really hard when you're a runner and need to just stop....but thank u for the advice!
Ankle pain with no know cause. The other day I was playing tennis, and the inner part of my ankle started hurting after some starting and stopping. It hurts pretty bad, and it feels tight during certain movements. It also really hurts when i walk. I didnt sprain it or anything, and there is no swelling at all. Does anyone know what this is.
What is the cause of my ankle pain? This morning, I woke up with a very severe pain in my ankle. I did not do anything to it, to my knowledge. I have never sprained, twisted, or broken my ankle or any other bone. When I felt it to see what was wrong, there was little pain in the ankle itself, but quite a bit in the inner side of the foot about where the first metatarsal bone is. It hurts extremely badly when I walk on it, and is causing me quite a bit of trouble, as I am 17 and go to a high school with a huge campus. I have an autoimmune disease (possibly ankylosing spondylitis) already, so additional pain is really a problem. If you have any idea about what may be wrong, I would be extremely appreciative. Thank you!
I have an ankle injury? I'm a cross country runner and have been training during the summer to get ready for the upcoming season. Last week, my ankle started hurting like it was bruised. At first I was running through it because it wasn't that bad so it was okay. Then, I had a weekend to let it rest. It was getting better & going away so I ran on it the following week. The first few days were okay but then starting yesterday, I actually felt the ankle pain throughout the run. I'm running usually seven miles a day, sometimes eight. I don't know what is wrong with my ankle.. I don't know if it's a sprain/strain.. The ankle is NOT swollen.. it's not red either. It's an inner ankle injury. I feel pain when I'm putting pressure on it. Well, I run hills.. and have to run up curbs (on the street) so I jump up them. Maybe too much of the jumping. I feel it when I'm about to take off...when my foot hits the ground and it has to lift back up. i don't know how to describe it. So.. what is this ankle injury? Is it a sprain? right now, i'm using R.I.C.E. ... well mostly just rest and ice. i don't use much compression.. and elevation sometimes at night. It feels okay to walk on the ankle but was a little stiff today. I'm giving it three more days of rest. And what should I do about it, other than R.I.C.E.?
inner ankle sprain worse than outside? i have had many sprains on my right ankle especially, like a total of 8. but they were all on my outer ankle. like i rolled it in playing softball, and basketball, and volleyball. but this time i rolled it and i have pain on the inside. so my question is, is this kind of injury worse than an outer ankle injury? and will it take longer to heal? and lastly how is it that i hurt the inside of my ankle when i rolled to to the inside when stepping on first base? shouldnt it be my outer ankle?
ankle pain ONLY when touched? I do a lot of running (cross country & track)...i've always noticed that when I touch my ankle it hurts like when i press down on it even lightly (like the inner side of the ankles, right on top of that pointy bone i think it's like the end of the fimbria bone?) it doesnt bother me at all when walking/running, i dont feel it, i just noticed when i touch it it hurts. what's wrong with it? i dunno if it helps but i think im also flat footed and I overpronate (ankle tends to roll in sometimes, i did that couple times but nothing bad enough that I had to go to the doctor. but i doubt it's because of those because wouldnt the outside of my ankles hurt then not the inside?) thanks if you replied. NOTE: yes I wear shoes that support my overpronation and arch and stuff so i dont think its my shoes
Inner ankle bone (medial malleolus) was bruised now feels like bone has grown on top.? Hi all, basically im a BMX rider and over the years when doing a certain trick (Tail whip) the crank arm on my bike would bang into my left ankle on the inside and hit my ankle bone which i believe is called medial malleolus? and one day i hit my ankle a good few times in one day which caused some bruising (no bruising showed but just felt bruised) and some months later i realised bone had grown on top of where i felt the bruising. I have no pain in that area, and it doesn't stop me doing any sort of sport its just that it looks like i have a slightly swollen ankle 24/7 on the inner side. Is there any treatment i can get to make it look normal again or should i just leave it seeing as its not doing me any harm. I also thought i may have chipped the bone which caused the growth?
tattoo inner or outer ankle? okay, so i am getting a tattoo very soon and am a little bit conflicted on whether i should get it on my inner ankle or outer ankle. my tattoo will be a black virgo zodiac sign about 1/2 inch - 1 inch big. where do you think it will look better? which do you like better? here are example pictures of the placements i would get: INNER: http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/images/tattooed3x/kelly_ripa_2.jpg OUTER: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1215/1071423132_d991023480.jpg also, if anyone has had either of them done: -which one would be more painful? -what is the level of pain of either of these on a scale of 1-10 i need to prepare myself! thanks so much for ANY help at all!!!
Pain in ankle - unexplained please help? Ok, I have had this pain in my ankle for over a month now. The pain is on the inner side and is in between the achilles tendon and the bumpy bony bit. The pain aches and comes and goes but strangely is more painful/uncomfortable when I am resting. The pain can sometimes feel cold if that makes sense. Walking doesn't hurt too bad but running is a no-no. Just for a bit of background, I was regularly going to the gym until about a month ago (since the pain started). It started on the treadmill one day and when I went back on the treadmill the next day it was so painful when I started that I just stopped and went home. I doubt my footwear to blame, I had my feet and running pattern analysed at a running shop where I bought the trainers I used at the gym and they were only 2 months old. Also I have been resting the ankle and not taking part in physical activity and the pain has been getting steadily worse. I don't think it is my achilles tendon as that is not painful. I cannot get an appointment with the doctor until 24 April (great) and don't know what I have done to my ankle or what I can do to make it better. Please advise anyone?
Inside ankle dull pain. What do I do? I play volleyball and a couple of weeks ago I twisted my ankle doing a drill and my ankle did not hurt at first but later it hurt a lot on the inner side. It was feeling better and last week I was playing soccer and fell and felt a sharp pain in my ankle afterwards on the outside until the next morning. Now, a week after that, the outside of my ankle no longer hurts but the I feel a dull pain on the inside when I move it certain ways and the pain stays for awhile afterwards.
Hurting Inner Ankle...? Just need an opinon...can't get a doc appointment for a few days...here are my symptoms: Starting last Wednesday I had some soreness around my ankle almost like when you roll it but thats not what happened. The truth is that the pain came out of nowhere. Its has progressively gotten more painful, which brings me to today where the pain has spread from my annkle on the inside of my leg right up the side of my leg about half way. Could this be a stress fracture, a spained achilles tendon? It's killing me not knowing!
I hurt my leg running and i need help because the pain hurts? I'm a regular runner but just last week i hurt my lower right leg on the inner side. The pain is from the top of my ankle to half way up my leg and hurts so bad. I can walk on it fine and carry on with my life but as soon as i go for a little jog it hurts..and i mean jog for about 5 secs and im in pain.
Pain on the inner part of my calfs, just above the ankle? I'm not sure what's causing it, maybe I'm overweight, but after I play football or basketball I get a lot of pain on the inner part of my calves, just above the ankle. As far as I'm aware, there are no muscles on that part of the body or ligaments, so I'm not sure what this is. Could it be that I have a fracture there? I also do a lot of driving, and the pedals are very heavy in my car, could it be some repetitive strain injury?
Inner (Medial) Ankle Pain, Cold numb foot Any Help? I am writing this as i have been accepted for a new job which i should be starting in around 5 weeks and is very strenuous. I am considering handing in my notice at my current job which requires 1 month. I felt a pain in my left foot one day while walking to work. After sleeping i woke up with a very acute pain under my medial malleolus, had to walk on toes of my left foot, pain was excruciating. I booked into see my doctor a couple of days later who said he thinks that i have sprained it and to rest it. It began to feel better, movement in my foot and ankle is now normal. Pain in my ankle is still present, and when i get up it becomes very cold with severe aching of the whole ankle. Pain is also present at a point right in the middle of the arch in my foot. The joint now clicks very often, at the beginning it was with every step. I am finding it hard to believe a sprain is the case as I have read that a sprain of the deltoid ligament is rare unless fractured, there was no bruising or swelling and i didn't believe it had been twisted in any way. I believe there are symptoms of Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, or some kind of Posterior tibial tendon injury but i'm just not sure. The only thing that had changed in my normal life was that the field i walk to work over had been ploughed and had frozen, placing a lot of activity on the ankle but i never felt a direct pain at any point walking over the field. I am 23 years old, male, healthy, football once a week, no previous ankle injury. One thing to note is that when i was younger my tendon in my hip/pelvis pulled of a bit of bone, i also had the same injury in both thumbs, these were results of direct impact/oversressing but there was a similar click in my hip. Has anyone ever had experience of this? Any recovery time frames? any help would be fantastic many thanks Read more: General Q and A Forum - Inner Ankle Pain, Cold numb foot, medial malleolus http://ehealthforum.com/health/inner-ankle-pain-cold-numb-foot-medial-malleolus-t269238.html#ixzz1EX0TSskB
inner wrist tattoo pain? next week i am getting a small key tattooed on my inner left wrist. i have 3 tattoos already, a butterfly on my inner ankle, a lotus flower on my lower back, and a fleur de lis on the back of my neck. my question is how much will an inner wrist tattoo hurt? also, my veins are visible through my skin in that area, can my veins pop from the tattoo needle? and do inner wrist tattoos fade faster than other tattoos? i heard they do. thanks!
Do you think i can handle a tattoo on my inner ankle? I got my tongue pierced,my nose, both my tragus, my belly, both my cartlidges and ears.. i know a tattoo is different and the pain is constantly there.. but do you think i can handle pain?
Ankle Pain after Running? I started getting back into running after a bone contusion in my knee. I'm a distance runner and jumped into running 25 to 35 miles a week. After a run last week, my left foot and ankle were stiff. I took a couple days off and went for a 9 mile run on Saturday. Afterward, I could hardly walk. The stiffness and pain came back. I haven't run for three days and the pain seems to have localized to the left inner ankle. When I touch the area it hurts, but I can walk better and do Spin classes. It's really stiff in the morning, but loosens up as the day goes on. I'm thinking that this is some sort of tendinitis. Any ideas? What should I do about it?
I have a stabbing pain on the inner part of my ankle. What? I have been getting this pain off and on for a few months. Lately it has gotten so bad that some days I cannot walk much. I have been elevating it, icing it and compressing it with an ankle brace or sports tape. There was no specific event that happened to injure myself. Do you think that it is sprained? Do you think the tendon or ligament is coming off the bone from over use? Do you think it is worth it to see a doctor now? Should I wait?
Peroneal tendon tear/dysfunction and inner heel pain? I tear or heavily strain the peroneal tendon once every couple months by rolling my ankle very badly and I can't exercise regularly on it. Whenever it tears I get a dull pain that's very painful and feels like the bone is fractured. Anyone else have this? What options are there? any successes?
First tattoo-heart on the inner ankle? My mom and I have decided to get heart tattoos (im 16). Im not sure where she's getting hers, but mine is on the inner right ankle. I have a few questions: How bad is the pain? Is there anything we can relate it to? Can I get a tattoo in the color of a henna (brown/dark brown) Will it fade? And if it does, do you get it refilled? (im not getting it on the bone, but off to the side a bit.)
Inner ankle pain..What is this? Please help? In a grappling class exactly 1 week ago I was thrown and landed on my ankle weird (don't remember how.. its all a blur.. I just remember immediate pain after) The pain wasn't terrible enough to make me stop.. I continued and was fine. When I got home... I couldn't move it without pain. I did RICE for the first few days... and it got 99% better. No pain walking... I can move it in any direction without pain. However... I am a runner(training for my first half marathon in may)... and everytime I try to run.. I feel a sharp stabbing pain like my inner ankle is about to give out. This was just practice running up and down my hallway while bare foot.... I've been researching and was thinking possibly.. Posterior tibial tendonitis? The I read some more and learned that the muscles can weaken around the foot.. and may cause your ankle tendons to absorb more of the shock? Maybe My muscles weekend from staying off it for 4 or 5 days?? I have a posiatrist appt tn. But this is driving me crazy... Not running for a week is making me insane.. esp bc its getting nicer out each day. so to sum it up... no pain doing anything except running.... anyone experience anything like this b4?
Has anyone ever had this type of inner ankle pain? a couple of weeks ago.. I was thrown in a grappling class and landed on my right foot hard. I did RICE the first few days.. have been soaking it in epsom salt, icy hot patches, Bengay. Ibuprofin.. you name it!... I went to a podiatrist last tuesday... he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it.. and said it was prob posterior tibial tendonitious. The pain is on my inner ankle.. so that makes sense. It has gotten like 95% better since it happend... I've been getting back into running... 1.5 miles then 2 miles the next day.... its fine. I am easily able to get up on the balls of my feet (which with posterior tibial tendonitous... you can't)... I still feel it every once and a while... pain would be described as a 3 out of 10 .. 10 being the worst. I just think its weird that I have a lot of symptoms of posterior tibial tendonitious.. yet I can run and get on the balls of my feet without pain??? oh.. and it hurts the most in the morning when I wake up.... I'm soaking it in epsom salt and warm water as I'm writing this message.
Pain in the lower inner legs after running? I've been running sprint intervals at my local gym, but for the last couple of days my lower legs have been SO PAINFUL. The pain is on the inner portion of my lower legs. It starts about a couple of inches below my knees and goes all the way down to my ankles :(. Is there anything I can to do help this? I have no insurance, so I can't go see a doctor. I also still want to exercise!
Right ankle and inner arch pain? I have had arch pain in my right foot for about 5 months now. It has been fairly manageable, I have not exercised much because of the cold. About 2 weeks ago I had a full body massage, the masseuse pinched the tendon in both my ankles and my ankle has been in serious pain ever since. Though the arch pain comes and goes now, the ankle pain is constant. I am on my feet all day at work, my left foot never bothers me, just my right. I do have a doctor's appointment next week, but I would love a little more insight. I have been taking two 500 mg of ibuprofen as needed, but it doesn't seem to help. I also bought a ankle brace at Walgreen's for the time being, it helps a little.
Inner ankle pain? What to do? I'm just recovering from an ankle sprain on my left foot and started playing basketball again, however, there is some pain in the inner part of that ankle. I don't know if I was completely healed or what but what should I do? Does it involve the tibial tendon? Will it be a recurring problem or can I prevent this from getting any worst?
What should i do for ankle pain in inner ankle and shin? I have started to run to lose weight, and four days ago i must have landed a bit funny because a sudden shot a pain ran through my leg, i didnt think that much of it, and kept on running, four days later, whenever i run or do anything strenuous, even walking to school hurts. The pain is on the inner ankle and inner shin. Shoud i rest it, or keep on working it? what should i do> ps. A bandage compressing it helps alot
Ankle Pain is killing me? I am a 14 year old girl. I'm really into sports. I play Softball, basketball, and I run track. For the past 7 months the top inner part of my ankle/foot (the kind of in between part where they connect) has been killing me! It's very tender. And, when I run I have started going very slow and can hardly put weight on it. When I lunge forward as to dive for a ball I almost throw up in pain. I'm getting tired of it. Did I tear a ligament or something?
Inside ankle pain on the bone. Avid runner. Has been hurting for a long time!! Please help? I run xc and track and last year I started having ankle pain but It was something different. Now I have pain right on the inner bone especially when I press on it. as far as I see there is no swelling. I also realized that when I point my foot upwards or downwards it hurts right under the outside bone of ankle as well. Also it's hard to bend my foot downwards.
Would tibial nerve entrapment/damage cause ankle, calf and inner thigh pain and cramps? It seems that if I over stretch or use my calf, it cramps up along with my inner thigh and my ankle hurts a little. Can this be fixed? I had a nerve test today and a needle was put into my calf which cause similar pain.
Rolled ankle ligament tear and inner ankle pain? I have partially torn my Calcaneofibular ligament 3 times by rolling my ankle inward. Everytime my inner ankle bone hurt just as bad and now months after the most recent tear I have pain in my inner ankle bone (medial malleolus) whenever weight is put on the foot. Anyone have a similar experience?
can Patella tracking disorder cause inner ankle pain? I went to my doctor a while back and she sent me to the physical therapist without any xrays or anything, my physical therapist said that I have patella tracking disorder in both knees, but the one that is causing pain is stronger than the one that isn't. Well anyway I have noticed increasing pain in my inner ankle and a medium sized bump, also on the top of my foot there is three smaller bumps. I am in a lot of pain in my right leg. Also my left knee which is the one that is weaker is starting to cause me pain. today i went to school with an ace bandaged on my ankle and a brace on my knee.... I did not have a good day today :( Can my knee problems be causing my ankle problems?
Ankle pain moves up my leg? I don't know how exactly i hurt my ankle. I play a lot of sports so i may have done it from that or I don't know. The pain starts at the bone that kinda pops out on your inner ankle. As i walk or put pressure on it the pain moves up to my calve still on the inner side. I am putting ice on it, and elevating it, but it's not making much difference. It's hard to tell if i hurt the bone or a muscle or something. Any ideas on what this could be will be much apprecatiated. THANK YOU. <3
What pain level can I expect for a rib tattoo? Just trying to prepare myself. I have 4 so far: ear cartilage, behind the ear, inner ankle, and middle back between shoulder blades. None of those were awful. The ankle was the worst one. I know the ribs will be the worst yet, especially since it's a decently sized piece. But about how does the pain on the ribs compare to pain on the inner ankle? Lol I do not do drugs. I'd love to drink before hand but I know they won't do the tattoo if they can tell I'm intoxicated.
How to treat right inner calf pain from running? I have a shooting pain that travels up my inner calf from running or every time i work out. in the past i sprained my ankle and i don't know if this has to do anything with it. this pain started a couple of weeks ago and i have never felted in my life. How do i treat this? since im a really active person
What can I do about the pain in my right ankle? In early June I hurt my ankle by slipping and landing on my right ankle while running up the stairs (my old shoes are pretty slick on the bottom and they have no ankle support). When it happened I thought I might have broken my ankle or at least fractured it, I absolutely could not put any weight on it for a week (also the outer part of my right ankle was bruised, all black and blue and very swollen). However since then It has gotten better, although it seems the healing process has plateaued and It hasn't felt any better than it did at the end of June. I'm a little worried that the pain might never go away, whenever I walk I get a lot of pain in my right arch and eventually my inner ankle too (the pain starts in the arch). However if I press on the inner area of my ankle (right under the medial malleolus I guess) I always feel a deep soreness. So I feel pain while walking, jogging, running, swimming, and whenever I put my weight on my right ankle for a couple minutes or more. Any ideas on how to ease the pain, stretches or something like that, I don't know what to do.
Wheezing upon inhalation, ankle pain? I feel feverish although I don't have a sore throat, fever or any other flu/cold symptoms. I have a slight stuffy nose but it's not blocked. When I breathe in deep, the wheeze is audible but not when I exhale. I'm feeling short of breath after just slight activity and keep having to take these deep sighs (which is when I can hear and feel the wheeze). I feel like there's phlegm buried deep in my chest that I'm trying to heave out but the coughs always come up dry. Also, lying down today I got the sharpest pain on the inner side of my left ankle and for no reason it has swollen slightly and the vein under the skin of that portion is bulging and tender. Please don't tell me I'm a hypochondriac. I'm asking because my mom is worried. I have had 2 open heart surgeries for a congenital defect. Last month I had some chest pain near my left breast and basically my left side was stiff and tender, which my doctor explained as excess hormonal activity around the time of ovulation. It disappeared gradually on its own. I don't have the best lung capacity but I'm finding it tough to breathe, and this is without a stuffed nose or sore throat or fever. If I had to get any of the above they should have shown up by now but it's been a week and I feel fine apart from the short breaths. I am not prone to allergies and have never been asthmatic
ankle pain/soreness after running? i have asked the question before but didnt get any answers that i was looking for, probably cuz i was vague about it. i get a pain in my ankle's after i would run (even every short distance) and a quite strong pain/tenderness in the inner, lower part a bit above the ankle itself, might be the soleus m, but yea the pain comes from somewhere their and is pretty tender, along with pain in the ankle itself. for example i had to run for the bus (full sprint, about 300 meters) this morning (~7:50) and i still feel a bit of discomfort in the ankles, and the inner part is still tender and its (~11:30) thats 16 hours... what might this be? its really discomforting and annoying
I've had chronic ankle pain and instability from a severe sprain 20 MONTHS AGO. Can anyone offer me insight? Hello. THE STORY: Playing softball 20 months ago, I suffered a severe sprain. I'm not just saying this. Any and every medical professional I've come in contact with says they've never seen a sprain look as ugly as mine. The ankle was literally the size of a softball (and I don't say that just for comparison's sake), and the bruising was hideous. My foot had wedged up against the base while I was baserunning. I was returning to the bag. After the sprain occurred, the second baseman also fell on it... I could hardly breathe because of the pain, and I couldn't walk on it at all. My personal trainer said it was "just a sprain" and told me to use RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation). I did that. Fast forward a month... The swelling was down, the bruising wasn't quite gone, and the pain was still awful. Under the advisement of my foot and ankle specialist, I was put in a walking boot. I stayed in it for 2-3 months, but the pain wasn't going away. I had many x-rays up to this point... All negative. The doctor was kind of insensitive... But I was glad when he set up an MRI. I got the MRI, kept up with the walking boot, and went about my business, still doing exercises and everything he asked. MRI came back and the result was bone bruising. I also got a bone scan, which showed the same results: bone bruising. He said that "Bone bruises take a long time to heal. There's no way of knowing when you'll get rid of the pain and get your mobility back." Okay, fair enough. He had me do this thing that sent waves (maybe magnetic) to my ankle to promote healing. I can't remember what it was called... Anyhow, I got sick of being told to "wait it out" because the ankle wasn't feeling better and I couldn't do my all-time favorite activity: long distance running. Everyone was sick of me complaining that it hurt, so I walked away after 14 months of various treatment, which included a couple of months of physical therapy, which didn't help. I stopped my complaining and decided to take his advice. "Waiting it out" is exactly what I did. Now fast forward... 6 months after this, my ankle is still hurting. It aches a lot more after use. The inner part aches more than the outer, though they both hurt. The bone that juts out on the inner part (I think it's the "ankle bone" or something) is noticeably bigger (perhaps swollen). My ankle is still weak and gives out when running without a brace... So I don't run. I am a high school student, but I work 3.5 hours a day as a janitor. During the day, it hurts and is stiff. I can't bend it as far (like when you do a squat). But after use, like during work, it aches a lot. I get home and HAVE to get off of it because it throbs or aches. It's to the point where I'm done waiting. I went to a specialist with higher credentials (he's supposedly 'one of the best') and he is much more aggressive. He's sending me back to physical therapy for 6-8 weeks and said "If it doesn't get better, we'll go ahead and have surgery." He said I'd be getting an ankle arthroscopy to see what we're dealing with. He suspects ligament damage. YAY. I'm glad I finally MIGHT get this resolved... THE PAIN (DESCRIPTION): The outer pain is toward the center and front. While on my feet, it throbs sometimes. It aches constantly, whether I'm using it or not. It feels "weaker" than my other ankle. It gives out a lot when running or jumping, though I haven't had any repeat sprains. I've been lucky. The inner pain is around that bone that juts out. It kills. It also stretches up sometimes (especially when I'm on my feet) into the inside of my leg (calf area, on inside, about half way up). This specific pain aches, but often 'burns.' I can't jump on one foot without pain in those regions. When I rotate my feet and do those ankle exercises (such as writing the alphabet with my foot), I hear far more cracking in my bad ankle than I do in my good one. QUESTIONS: What is wrong with my ankle? (Ligament damage? Tendon damage? Cartilage?) Has anybody experienced similar? (Any words of advice? Does the surgery help?) Thanks in advance, and sorry that the post was so long!
What is this pain in my ankle? This afternoom my ankle became very sore. I did not do anything to bring it on. It now feels as though i have a severe sprain and the area around the inner left ankle is painful to touch. It is too painful to walk on and , besides being extremelly painful, feels stiff if if i try to move it. I dont understand what this is as i have done nothing out of the ordinary. I cannot get to a doctor as i cant use it and i am out of pain meds.
I have an inner ankle pain with no swelling? I woke up one morning with a pain in the inner side of the ankle. I can't put any weight on it when I'm tiptoeing, I can only walk flat footed. The pain comes and goes, and isn't really severe. I have no swelling or redness, I can turn it with no problems. The only time it hurts is when I have to put weight on it. I went to see the doctor a week ago and she gave me an ace bandage and told me to rest it. I don't know if there's a deeper problem to my ankle pain. I'm hoping for some advice on how to take care of it so it heals quickly and what my problem might be. It doesn't hurt when I massage it either. I'm pretty sure it's inside...since my doctor did a series of foot massages to see where the pain resides, she couldn't a source of pain from the outside.
Pain in ankle and inner thigh when running? So I am a new runner, I have been running for about an hour for 4 days but now I've noticed I am having ankle pain (sort of above and to the right on the right foot and to the left on the left foot) and also pain in my inner thigh. I have been running in regular shoes but have recently bought some running shoes that fit me quite well and are very flexible, although I still notice pain, is there any way to prevent this? Or should I just power though?
Ankle Pain without swelling? Hi i am a 16 year old boy who is very football active and cycling active. Everyday after school i go to the park and play football but one day i got this burning pain in my inner right ankle which is my stronger ankle. And i thought i was like an impact injury but then the next day the pain continued and got worse and does anyone know what may be wrong with my ankle or anyway i can get back to football. Thanks! sorry didn't add this: I am sure its not a sprain because theirs no swelling or bruising around the ankle, and the burning feeling occurs every time pressure is applied to the ankle.
